Basics of Microsoft & Internet. Bought book, only opened it for MyITLab login info. Very easy, attendance not required. I went but spent my time doing other homework (laptops were permitted). Easy A!
Pretty cool teacher really laid back. Class seems hard only at first but that's only in theory in fact the class is not so bad. Study powerpoints and go to the website to study the review believe me you will get a good grade
Very easy, nice, and relaxed teacher. He takes attendance every class so try not to miss out. Lectures are pretty boring, but you don't need to pay attention to get an A. I didn't buy a textbook (you don't need it, use his ppt notes), I only bought stuff for myITlab and saved a bundle!
This prof takes attendance every day. No book necessary, tests based on powerpoint notes and videos only! He keeps the class interesting, and encourages group participation!!!
Easy. Nice. Mellow. No tests, and the book wasn't used. The team project (web application) was allowed to be pretty much completely freeform, which was nice. Just follow directions and make an effort, and it's an easy A+.
Great professor. Class was fun & enjoyable. Open book tests, but if you keep up with the reading you will not need the book. 2 Tests, 2 group projects, & 3 database projects. Highly recommended!
Takes attendance. Tests come straight from the power points and videos watched in class. Homework is fairly easy and he does offer some easy extra credit. Recommended.
He is a very nice guy. He always wants to make sure that all his students are comfortable. The is no way to fail this class unless you just give up altogether. Textbook not really necessary except for the SAP book for the tests.
This guy is awesome, very helpful, keep the class interesting for the most part. Will have online meeting once in a while. Easy A
he is so boring. other than that he's alright. tests are from videos and ppt. there are two cases and two group projects. you might want to go to lab for cases. they are difficult. MIS is hard course. you need to put extra efforts. attendance is mandatory.
He is super sweet. Grades easily and is very respectful and kind to his students. Love him!
Super nice guy, super easy class. Can be interesting if you pay attention.
Prof. Thouin is a great teacher, very understanding and knows his stuff. Always makes time to address questions or concerns students may have and is a fair grader. Two Test, two online group presentations, several discussion post and SAP model assignments.
Teacher dumps all on the T.A.; gives tons of gen'l info w/no specific goal; tests on random quirky info. Curves midterm & final b/c all grades are low. HORRIBLE clarity
Super nice guy, but the class is dull. I made an A, but this was NOT a blowoff class. The questions on the tests are very easy to very hard…you have to read the book and know it inside and out to do well. The Excel and Office assignments take time, so don't wait last minute. Not a blowoff class.
Very great professor! Participation is required for the class. However, it's a fairly easy class if you do pay attention. He gives plenty of help on the projects during class time. Dr. Thouin is a really sweet and nice professor. Should definitely take!
Great professor. Course its self is a bit bland but he's great. Easy if you work at it. Approachable and really nice.
Worst teacher ever, he does not teach, does not help, does not care about the students. he will not read your papers, he just skims them and gives low grades. he is out to fail as many students as he can. Avoid at all costs
You will not pass his exam at least 60 .
Six students failed his class ONLINE last semester . you won't pass his class unless you have friends who took his class b4. or you can GOOGLE it . the only way to pass his class with a D . Do not recommend it.
No good. Do not take it On line
we do not recommend this professor for all ONLINE CLASSES. you will regret it.
He is a nice guy and the class is super easy, but I dreaded going every day. We don't do anything in class and he did not help me to understand anything better than i already understood it. There are a ton of writing assignments but he isn't really a hard grader. no exam review . I received a grade F.
all his exams are the same. let one of your classmate take exam 1st then make a copy to the flash drive . He does not ask to show your work. He is the most laziest teacher at UTD. Do not take him if you wanna learn some.
As long as you keep up with the weekly lectures this class is super easy to follow. The assignments can be a little tough but he is really accessible through email to give you help. The TA is not as clear and doesn't always give the same information as the professor.
Good guy, Teaches well.
2 group projects, 2 individual projects, 2 exams, boringggggggggggggggggg lectures, ive just spent the whole class on my phone and so did everyone else. He's easy tbh, good teacher, take him !
Very clear cut class. The projects and group projects are great learning experiences.
The thing to worry about are the exams. the First one was fairly straightforward, but the second was crammed with a lot of info.
Great professor at UTD. Comes to class every day, happy to see everyone. Tests are not hard if you understand the material. Two small group projects, three homework assignments, two tests and attendance is part of your grade. He does teach other MIS courses and I would take him again, but it does not correlate with my degree plan.
The intro MIS class was pretty enjoyable. Thouin really cares about the subject and what he's teaching. He's a very chill professor and very helpful. The class isn't hard but expect the tests to be a lot harder and pretty in depth. But he does curve and provide extra credit. I really enjoyed the class and I'm glad I had him over other professors.
Thouin's class is easy to pass, but getting an A requires work. There are a few easy projects, just dedicate a few hours to do them. He takes attendance for a grade. The exams can be difficult, so go to the review lecture and READ THE BOOK. Exam is MC but tricky. You will definitely learn something useful in this class. Thouin is helpful & fair.
Mr. Thouin is a great Professor. The class has 2 exams and 4 projects. 2 of them and group projects, including one presentation. He makes the class very interesting and is helpful. He curves the grades when required. I highly recommend all students who are taking MIS 3300 to take this professor.
Overall, a great professor. You need to show up and pay attention to the lectures to do well in the class. If you do that you should be fine.
Obviously it's not a class where you can get an easy A but it's fairly easy to pass. Materials are pretty straight forward. You have to study if you want to get a good grade on the exams. Class presentations are helpful. Highly recommend Dr. thouin.
2 group projects but he made it clear on how he wanted it done. 1 project you do alone it was hard but the Thouin was helpful 2 exams, a midterm and final, they were a difficult and a lot of material to know and questions are tricky. attendance is required, he provides power points and explains every little detail was very helpful
He gives 4 projects and 2 of them is group projects and two tests. He is a fair grader, but you really have to study for the test especially the second test. The individual projects are easy.
Definitely not an easy A. Professor Thoiun is very respectful towards his students and is always there to help. Lectures were informative and i learned a great deal. However, the tests were surprisingly challenging, especially the second test. The projects are time consuming, but relatively straightforward, except for the Access case.
Lots of work (quizzes, assignments, projects) but easy enough! Study for the exams, they are tough but he usually will curve them if need be. Dr. Thouin is a super nice guy, don't be intimidated to go to his office hours.
His voice makes me wanna sleep.
I really liked him and his class actually taught me something
Great Professor, Lectures can be a bit dry but it is still an exceptional class.
Professor Thouin makes informational management systems understandable. He is always there to help his students. I really enjoyed this class. Make sure to prepare for exams. They can be quite tricky if you are not prepared.
Tests were a bit tough. Read and read and read, but that wasn't enough. Lecture is tough to sit through in the AM, but very kind professor. He cares to help his students. 2 group projects! Wiley assignments. 2 exams!
Sometimes a little boring, but overall exceptional professor. I would take him again,
Professour Thouin is a professor that is willing to help students succeed in his class. Just pay attention, dont skip class and youll do fine
I took this class as a requirement for my Finance degree and I must say, I enjoyed it. Attendance is mandatory as a sign-in sheet is passed around. But all this lectures are online. Gives test reviews online and in class before the tests. Very knowledgeable instructor with a great attitude and passion for teaching. Would recommend for sure.
Professor Mark Thouin is awesome. He is a very nice person. There are: 2 group projects 2 assignments 2 exams: 1st exam and 2nd exam. The 2nd exam is the final exam, and it is not cumulative. Awesome class overall.
Group projects aren't too difficult but the tests are SUPER specific so get ready to not do that great... good thing is there's always a curve and the projects and participation will pull your grade up in the long run.
Teacher can be a little dry, but he has his funny moments. Beginning of the semester was a little slow and uninteresting but picked up the further into the material we went. Tests are tough, know the chapters backwards and forwards and don't rely solely on the review. Other than that, great teacher, great class. (Fun if taken with friends).
Dr. Thouin is a great professor overall- yes, lectures can be boring, but that's more just the curriculum of the class. He's very helpful in and outside of class, and he makes an effort to relate the course material to the real worldnon-MIS majors.
Dr. Thouin is a really good professor his lectures are a little boring but that is because of the course not the professor. He can be funny and is a really nice guy. The class is pretty fun if you take it with friends and he really does care about teaching the material. I would not take anyone else for the intro class highly recommend him!
Very nice man, really cares about class.
Glad I took Thouin for MIS! Overall, he's a great professor that clearly knows his stuff. He's kind and very informative! His exams and projects are very straight forward and simple. If you're having extreme trouble in this class, you're doing something wrong because it should not be hard. Would take again in the future! :)
Dr. Thouin is a very clear lecturer, and welling to help during class or at office hours. The TA is very helpful, and will get to you if you're late with assignments. the excel and access cases where the only parts that i found difficulties with in this course, but very simple when you understand them. I highly recommend Dr Thouin for this course.
oh well, another simple class and easy to pass with A.
*Online class* There were many videos and lectures to watch so take notes and read the books! Tests are multiple choice but that doesn't matter if you don't know the material. NO GROUP PROJECT! 2nd half of class works wExcel and gets a little tougher but it's very do-able. Take this class! Especially if you work full-time!
Not too bad of a class, I ended up with an A+ in the class while I was working full-time and taking 3 other classes. Doable if you put in the work. I would study 4 days before the exams, you gotta take them in the testing center (which sucks). There is an excel and access case, they're kinda tough! Curves exams by 5 points!
Need most recent MS Office Suite. Great online ppt and video blogs. Only two tests and they are tough. Be sure to review! Test must be taken in the testing center :( Did curve the test grade twice.
Online class is very boring. Mr Thouin just reads out the PPTs which I think were recorded long ago. Final exam is Fissure simulation which is challenging.
Excellent, must recommended professor, the most respected and turns every answer into correct one. Grading system is in Student's favor.
I enjoyed Prof. Thouin's class from the beginning of the semester. This class is an easy A if Project management interests you. 2 group projects and one individual in total, 2 exams and every class has a online quiz associated with it which requires reading before going to the class. He is a great prof. and makes the class interesting and easy.
Best professor for the course. Great lecturer & he has a great calming voice. There are two group projects, two case assignments, and two tests. If you really put in the work you can make an A, but most people get Bs. He is very clear and helpful if you participate and ask questions. Definitely take him!
He takes attendance through Poll. Exams are very easy if you read and look back at his PPTs. There are 2 group projects and 3 individual cases. You will use excel and access so just be aware of that. He does help a lot so you know how to do every assignment he gives you.
Course structure is too good . Professor teaches very well.
Weekly quizzes which vary in difficulty but in general if you watch the lectures and read the assigned chapters you'll do fine. There is a midterm project where you use MS Project to build a schedule and a PM simulation final. This class is very useful for the professional world and should have no trouble getting an A if you put the time in
Thouin's exams in the testing center are nothing like his course material or his test reviews. Thought this class would be easy. I failed the first exam and hardly recovered afterwards. I do not reccommed. Save yourself and take someone else!
Literally DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR FOR ITSS. He can not teach. His power points are useless for the exam. His exams are hard. Hes not helpful. If you ask him a question, he says "I do not grade twice." I made an A in the class and it was so hard. His lectures are boring and you can not skip class. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR
Lectures are recorded and posted online. Most weekly assignments are participation checks and are pretty easy if you read/watched the material. Exams a bit of a different story, but my advice is to find the test banks online and memorize them (you take the exams at the testing center). He curves, though! And follow the tutorials for the projects!
Well-organized online course. 2 tests are MC and taken in testing center. They're somewhat difficult but he curves by 4-8 points. I found it was mostly memorizing vocabulary from the textbook. I actually learned a lot from the excel and access cases. Participation assignments are easy 100s
One of the coolest prof, every answer is a right answer. So do participate in class. Cares about the students hence ensures everything is done in the class itself. There is only 1 exam so do well in that, if you consistently show up in class and do the your grp assignment it would be an easy A. He curves the grade at the end so stay consistent.
There are TWO MAJOR group projects. His lectures are extremely boring however attendance is mandatory!! This class is extremely heavy on the exams, he does curve though. I would highly recommend him!! Just don't waste your money on books, he doesn't use them.
The whole subject I had to read all by myself. The class did not help.
Very clear grading criteria. Videos are helpful. Easy grader
The professor has 16 classes and out of those 4 classes would go for the assignment discussion in the class. In the first 8 weeks itself, we will be done with our exam and the rest of the time is for projects and two in-class presentations. Exams are the little bit tricky. Teaching is not so great. Uses SAS enterprise miner tool, no coding.
There are 3 major not easy group projects. for the test just memories the slides. You won't learn much about AGILE and it's mostly about Waterfall model. He is tough grader and does not teach much in the class!
Overall very easy class. Some of the assignments are a little tough but still do-able. I rented the book but it wasn't really necessary. No complaints except that I ended up with an 89.8 and he gave me a B+ lol.
6360 He moved up the final group project a week early in the middle of finals week. It was very inconsiderate especially because it is hard to coordinate with a group normally but especially with COVID-19. Other than that the class was nice. Although I wish he would have discussed the PMP certification and dedicated a portion of the course to that.
He's a cool professor. Exams are a bit difficult and he doesn't give a review. He basically said "review all of the textbook terms that's your review" and there were over 200 terms. Besides this, he's a good professor who knows what he is talking about. He's a pretty tough grader and will take off like 10 points for the smallest things
Prof. Thouin is alright. Typical lectures and quizzes, 1 honorlock midterm, and a final exam project. The assignments/projects are quite challenging, so make sure you pick a good group. He's helpful during his recorded lectures, but since I took him online, he didn't engage much with the students. The TA grades quite harshly too.
had him for agile project management. really good prof. would highly recommend! he knows his stuff and is an excellent lecturer. three group projects, 2 are in MS Projects and 1 is an agile simulation. one final exam which isn't too difficult. He's also a fairly easy grader.
I took online MIS6360. Professor was extraordinary with concepts and the way he put things together. The classes are exciting if you are from a project management background. Assignments are simple but require lots of learning. Fair grader, reasonable assignment load. If you are dedicated, it's easy to score A. Best part is professor responds to al
Professor Thouin is one of the best professors at JSOM. He explains the material very well and is very responsive when you need clarification over email. This course was well structured and had good exercises-but I would have preferred more. This is an easy course to get a good grade in with not much effort. You will also learn a lot.
His exams are easy but simply cut marks so no point taking
I would say he is the best professor in JSOM. He is easy going and caring for all students. I enjoy every time coming to the class and he did recorded the lectures, which we find very useful because R was a difficult class. Dear professor, if you read these words, I am so thankful because he has chosen you this semester!
Prof. Thouin is a good professor who does a great job of explaining the content he goes over. That being said, in this class, there are some important things that he provides very little instruction on. If ambiguity is your thing, this class is for you. The test was VERY quantitative, make sure you know all the formulas. EXTREMELY useful class.
He is the most kind, considerate & amazing professor. Always there to help students. Values your feedback. I always looked forward to attending his class. Would recommend him without a second thought.
lots of group and individual assignments.
