4 very hard tests and no final. 1 8-12 page report will erase 1 test grade.
He told me it made him feel good that I wasn't doing well in his class.

I took his class in '98, and I loved him. He was tough but fair, and had the expectation that students should work hard for their grades. Shame on you slackers! (By the way, he does give As.) I still reference that Kunstler book at parties!

He is the worst teacher I have ever had. He got into arguments with students at least once a week. He is a bitter old man who should have never decided to teach in the first place.

HE'S A HORRIBLE TEACHER. his lectures are bad and the whole time he talks in this monotonous yet sarcastic voice. he's not helpful at all when you ask him questions and besides that, overall he's just rude.

Warning! Drop is class if you are already registered. It will be an entire semester of hell! Hard tests no matter how prepared you are. Rude and abrasive style.

Spend an extreme amount of time for this one unit class, even if you work very hard it's unlikely to get an "A". Also difficult to approach, if you do, likely to treat you like you're dumb and will be very sarcastic/rude to you.
Hey people!! Teachers aren't supposed to be your friends. Mr. Trembley is honestly one of the best teachers I have ever had, and yes an A is possible. Take him if you really want to learn something...you California slackers you.
I got the best grade on a test in his class and it was still a B. Writing sections on tests are brutal. He has NO faith in students. Thinks ur dumb for being at a JC. Tests are horrible and doesnt include material he covers. LEFT OUT chapters on Tests

it is a very interesting class. i enjoyed it a lot. If you want to learn take this class.although he is not clear on what is on the test. study the notes and you could get b or c.he knows a lot about the world and politics which is interesting recommended

This "professor" not worthy to teach. Doesn't understand the concept of getting students interested or even being polite. It's time this fellow went to school to do something else.

Very intelligent teacher whose lectures don't put you to sleep. Whole grade is the average of a few tests (easy A if you come to class and read the chapters) and extra credit. I took once/wk night class and had no problem with him, he won't coddle though.
This teacher is no good. Do not take his class during an election year or all you will hear about is politics! I dropped this class immediately. I could not stand him. If I wanted a politics class I would have taken one! Thanks!
Very hard teacher. Make sure you go to class every time and take good notes or you will have a very hard time. He offers extra credit so take advantage. Believe it or not, an A is possible.

I have never been offended by a professor until i took this class. All he seems to care about are talking about his opinions on religion and politics. If you have strong beliefs in something stay away from this class. He thinks California should succeed from the union! He's crazy!
Worst teacher I have ever had. His test are on the book only and the lectures are on his opinion, he always goes off track and thinks he is the coolest guy because he went to UC Berkley. Don’t take he you will regret it. And he always smells like tobacco, and he is not the easiest to look at.

This was the worst class I have ever taken! Trembly does not care about his students at all. If you have a choice-DO NOT TAKE HIM! In the class I was in, he only gave one A and the rest were F's! You will probably fail if you take him. He is very mean!
Mark Trembley is perhaps the most disrespectful,condescending,and hateful man I've run into in my academic career. He consistently cuts you off during sentences,rides individual students at his whim,speaks down to you, and will never admit that he's wrong. I've watched him bring students to tears.

This class was supposed to be a survey class for those trying out the field and he treated it as though you were trying to earn a doctorate. He's especially cruel to women in his classes and incredibly **** even in his lectures. Impossible to get an A and overall unpleasant experience.

The worst professor at Mesa college. He is condesending, rude, and lazy. He has no desire to instruct students and nurture their interest in the topic. He seems there simply to pick up a pay check feed his own ego and prostrate his disdain for the youth.
This teacher is a joke for a college professor! He puts students down, his lectures are very convoluted and his tests do not cover what was lectured on or in the book. I walked out on his class due to the fact that I knew I would not have had learned anything from him.
I would read each chapter 3 times, highlighting all the important stuff. Go through it again reading the highlighted stuff and reading the heck out of the notes. And I had note cards with all the vocabulary words and I made it out of the class by the skin of my teeth with a C.
He is a really hard!! i studdied my ass off on one of his test and got a B, then hes appendix blew or something and we got a sub for the rest of the semester and i studdied way less than the second test and pulled of a 94!!!

A great teacher because he makes you use your mind. The problem is that he berates his students to the point of low confidence. He made me very interested int he class but be ready to read the text!

Very passionate about what he teaches. He is serious and won't let you just slide by, but has very interesting insights that make geography more interesting than i thought it would be.

Quite possibly the best teacher that has ever taught on earth!! He can really make a boring lecture into an epic storytelling adventure. If you look up his name in a dictionary it would say: AMAZING!!!!
This guy was a prick when I had him. He obviously doesnt enjoy teaching, so I'm not quite sure why he does it. Maybe he just likes the power. Who knows. I wouldnt suggest taking this class. He acts as if every student there is or should be a geography major and should already know everything about his class beforehand.

Yes, he knows a lot, but it's very hard to deal with his personality. He'll go on tangents telling the same story AGAIN for 15 min. He treats students as if you really don't know anything and he is the great one that will prepare the way. The majority of the class fail the first test and many drop. I would not recommend him. Many will be offened.
Probably one the of best teachers ive had in all honesty. He is VERY hard and his tests are VERY difficult. However, I have learned more about phy. geography than I had ever wished. His frequent jokes are very dry, sarcastic, and hilarious. Just be above it all and dont take offense. He offers extra credit which keeps you alive during the course.

Ok, Trembley sucks period. He hooked me with his cool lecture the first day and so I thought it would be a fun class. (so wrong) I studied more for this class than any of my 5 classes and still got a D, now I have to take it again. Also I found out that some hot girl complained about his lecture on the first day so he gave her a B, we all failed.
Don't leastion to the counselors when they say this will be an EASY class. It's hard as all hell. However, if you do take the class you learn how the world works and you'll be see things diffrently once the class has completed. You'll also want to go drink after each test.
Well, I guess I don't need to say anything any further. He IS very CRUEL TO WOMEN-FORGET IT! Genuine "women-hater"! He is one of those teachers that wishes he could have been an artist (he likes to paint) (and will get mad if you do not know what it is). He should have retired years ago-He hates his career and shares his bitterness! KEEP GOING!
CAUTION: Don't let his interesting yet useless lectures fool you. 80% of the material on his tests are NEVER mentioned in lectures. I participated in class lecture and read every chapter assigned... I failed his class twice!!!

One of the best teacher I have had in my life. He might be touch (I did not think so) but he is extremely knowlegeable and has passion for what he does.
The worst instructor in the world. Does not follow the book, sloppy incoherent lectures, no study guide, no support. This man is unprofessional, condesending and beligerent toward students. He went to "Berkeley School of Geography" and he thinks he is brilliant talking over students heads and laughing at the grades. Every test most failed.
I have to agree with all of you, this teacher does not like to teach instead he just likes to lecture the class on different topics that have nothing to do with the book.
I think we all agree this teacher is tough and not friendly. He uses the class to lecture about problems in society and people and somehow fits alittle bit of geography in there.
EXTREMELY HARD (but, believe it or not worth it). Don't take this class for the class, take it for the experience of learning about a very unique person. You may learn more about the world's affairs then the ciriculum; a good class to learn the definition of tolerance. I liked it because it was different, beneficial for a persona analysis.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! I have never had a worse teacher in my life! He knows his stuff but he is far from a people person. I can't count the number of times he said GOD D@&N! He is just one of those guys who likes to hear themselves talk. His notes are scattered on the board like that of a puzzle. If you have a question, prepare to be shot!

This class is really hard!! He makes you feel like a complete idiot if you do not understand the material. He is always saying everything he talks about is a cake walk and so easy. Well sorry but not everyone is a genious. I would never reccomend this teacher to anyone. Thanks to him, my gpa is going down.

Okay I'm going to be as objective as I can. He knows quite a lot of facts because he reads, period. If you live in S.Cal, to him you are an idiot/moron who's too stupid to be dealt with in a pleasant manner or at all. He doesn't understand how to teach or how to help students learn. To him we're failing b/c we're lazy. Passionate guy, bad teacher.

If you want to take him for Geog 101 then here is what you have to do. Study the life out of the bold words in the book and you will do just fine. That what I did and I got an A. He says that I am one of 4 people to EVER do that! I did not know a thing about Geography, and now it is my major. ---- All the things about his personality are true.

This is the worst teacher I have ever met. I dropped after several weeks. He puts everyone down and is a real ass. I would never recommend him to anyone. He needs to retire.
Trembley was unpleasant. His system of note taking is everywhere/hard to discern when looking at the board. He uses terminology consistantly w/out explaining its meaning first. He doesn't annunciate his sentences- his words seem to reverberate within his jowl and stop short of the first row. When I asked to move closer to hear him he said no. -_- W
Well...Is he hard, yes...but its college ppl! By far probably the hardest class I have ever taken, but also the most informative. I am almost done with the semester and I have found him to be interesting, and direct. If you can not take verbal criticism than do not take this class, he encourages discussion, and pushes students hard! Great class!
Hard class, but learned a lot. The only professor I have had so far that teaches well and prepares you for a 4yr school. Lectures are 90% out of the book. Has 4 tests, all hard, and a paper for extra credit. Take him if you really want to learn something!
He has no idea how to lecture. By the end of each class I have learned nothing except for his opinions on how stupid everyone is and what things in the world he hates. But even if you have the courage to ask aquestion in his class, you will get put on blast by him and never want to ask again. DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS. He needs to just retire.
An instructor of the highest caliber, Trembley treats a difficult topic with the rigor it deserves. The level of commitment he expects from his students is something I later discovered to have been sometime of a personal service, particularly in the low expectations world of community college. In other words, he preaches to those who are interested
I just started taking Mr. Trembley's class and already love it. He helps to make sense of the world and why it is what it is. He's honest, straight-to-the-point, and encourages those in a community college to go beyond our "expected" growth. I recommend him to everyone- especially those attending college to actually learn.
One of the most self centered people I've ever met. Trembley is brilliant but has no love of teaching and openly admits his hatred of young people and community college. Cultural Geography is a fascinating subject but Trembley manages to ruin it by demeaning the entire class. He's bitter about something and he intends to take it out on you!

Easily the best professor I've had. I didn't find the class particularly hard; I got an A. To those that think he's an ideological extremist: Have you considered that what you've been taught before was all wrong and what he's taching is correct? And he does speak tangentially; this is CULTURAL geography, explaining how humans function spatially.

Just pay attention in class and read the textbook and you will do fine. He will tell you what will be on the test. Mr. Trembley is a very knowledgeable man and stern. He offers one or two extra credit assignments that you must take advantage of. This class covers a lot of material and could very well be taught at a University level.
Mr. Trembley is very strict, but if you pay attention and actually read the text its not a hard class. Trembley is also really funny and knows his stuff. If you say something dumb he will make fun of you for it. Simple as that.

Most difficult thing I think is that he relies solely on test, almost no homework. If you fail the first few quizzestest my advice is drop the class.
He can be intimidating and insensitive, but he's not as serious as he seems. Really deadpan humor. If you can keep up, aren't shy when put on the spot, and do the extra credit then you'll do fine. Lots of people drop the class so you can ask all the questions you want. I think everyone that stayed till the end passed.

Buy the book the book is needed and a calculator you get kick out of class if you don't have the material. And he makes people feel dumb.

He spends about 1/4 of the class spewing out negative comments about the students, another 1/4 of the class talking about how hard this class is and the 1/2 of the class is actual lecture. He also speaks poorly of his students to other faculty in the SB building. Come on, be professional Tremblay. I would never recommend him to anyone.
Although he is an expert in his field, he has a poor way of teaching. Intelligent man with an arrogant attitude. You will need a calculator and book or he will send you out of class. Tests are EXTREMELY difficult, his passing rate is 30%. He expects students to get low grades on tests so he has a curve on the syllabus. No homework or study guides
very condescending attitude and the question he loves to ask is "so what?". so you explain and his follow up question is "so what?". he also confused students by telling them to divide an equation when they should be multiplying. several times.
