Snoozer-ific. Seriously Demented, impossible tests.
He's a very nice guy and enjoys teaching. However his teaching methods just seemed to confuse me more and the class was extremely boring. His test were very difficult because he didn't write them himself. He used test that came with the teaching website and they never seemed to pertain to what we were learning in class. Grading scale was very easy.
Very nice guy who tries hard to be good. He would probably be better if this wasn't a six week class. He doesn't go over most of the information mainly because he's pressed for time, and his lisp does make it hard to understand, but he tries. Also I thought he looks a lot like Michael Ironside too.
You are one of the best teacher. You are sooo helpful and you care about your student.
You are the best Mr. Trueman
he dont know what he is teaching and what he gonna ask on exam
I have his saturday class and the guy is something speacial. Not only is his class boring, but his tests are ridiculously hard. Class average is like a 40%, for two reasons. 1) he rambles on and on about stuff no one cares about and 2) he's giving tests that would be hard if they were open book. The guys a joke!
Mr. Trueman is a great teacher. His class is difficult but he works hard to make the material understandable. If you really want to learn Economics, take a class from him!
The man loves economics. I hate the subject but this guy will do what he can to help you understand the****. He's very informational and sometimes it is hard to comprehend but he's very reasonable.
Awesome Teacher, I love him. He explains everything awesome and I actually pay attention in his class, great at keeping your attention! Love you Mr. Trueman!
This teacher is very good, but teaches about stuff that has nothing to do about the class. The tests are over nothing you ever learn and they're almost impossible. I don't get how any one can take his tests. He even lets you make a cheat sheet on the test which still doesn't even help anyone out. Class averages are in the low 60%!!!
Very nice teacher but does not explain the material clearly. He is very vague regarding what you need to know for the tests, which are impossibly hard. He does give extra credit which helps, but I had a 4.0 avg before taking this class but don't anymore. I learned very little and I would never take this teacher again.
Very hard to understand, lisp in his speach and hearing aid making communication hard. Very vague on test information. Willing to give you HIS opinion on any subject and spends a great deal of wasted time on useful information. Drags classes out longer than they need to make sure they fit the time frame and we don't leave too early. Don't TAKE!
Very nice person. However, he's not the best instructor. Hard to understand at first but you get used to it. Test were hard, and nothing like what we learned in class.
This is the teacher for you if you do not test well. You have other chances to get a good grade with class work ect... I would recommend him. You need to go to class, do all the work and read the book but we are in college. I think he's a good techer for those who struggle, just ask and he'll help. I would take him again.
Tests were nearly impossible for me to pass. Only take him if you are extremely interested in Economics, otherwise take a class with a different professor. He is hard to understand, and it's very hard for him to understand his students. He showed up late for the first half of the semester, and we got out late every night.
Maybe It's just because I took his Econ Class during the summer that it was different, but it really wasn't as hard as everyone said he was, yes his tests can be challenging but just take good notes and you should be fine, and when he says no late assignments, he means it! By the way,1160 is Macro Econ Book, Full Econ book is 1160 and 1170 combined
Teaches well, helps you, not a lot of homework, reading/studying will help you tons. Sometimes hard to understand because of his lisp, he also has on hearing aid's. Recommended by me if you need an Economy course, he love's what he teaches, sometimes he goes off topic but usually it's ok. Take him.
Awesome teacher, very helpful, easy to understand, knows subject very well and can teach it very well. Highly recommended!
He is a great teacher of a, at times, a formidable subject. Everything is powerpoint with copious amounts of extra credit. Just showing up and doing the extra credit should net you a C. Read the book and ask some questions, an A is not all that unrealistic. I do not think this is a subject that comes naturally, so some effort is required.
I don't understand previous comments. NOTHING was on a PowerPoint. He lectured off one graph and talked to us like we already knew the subjects. Exams were rediculous, info was not consistent between book, lecture, and test. Super hard, I don't recommend him, though he's a very sweet man. I have a 3.8 GPA and I struggled in this class.
Very nice. He stays on topic but throws some jokes around to make it fun. DEFINITELY NEED READ THE BOOK. His lectures are okay, but the majority of the exams are from the reading. Offers extra credit and does a lot of in-class, group assignment which counts as participation. Should deff go to class and read book to pass this class. Would take again
Very nice, man. He is lenient with his grading, offers a lot of extra credit as well. However, his lectures do not go hand-in-hand with the material that appears on his tests. Attendance isn't exactly necessary, but I highly advise reading the assigned chapters from the two books, because the test material comes from those.
Terrible Teacher!!! Do not take him!! His test are very hard and doesn't go by the book or the homework.
Terrible Teacher!! Do not take him!! His test have nothing to do with his lectures or the homework and before this class I am an A student
He is a very nice man, but lectures were absolutly terrible. Lectures were no help to the exams, read the book. I would ask him questions during his lectures because the book would be saying differently and he could not answer my questions. i am a 3.6 GPA student and recieved an A- in the class but it was a struggle to get an A on the exams.
A very sweet man and cares about students, but it's a very difficult course. Lots of group activities for participation & gives TONS of extra credit opportunities so definitely do them! He requires another book other than the text, so make sure you read otherwise you will not understand his lectures. Challenging course but GREAT teacher! :)
I am so glad I didn't look at this website before I took this class... I would have missed out on a GREAT professor. He is very intelligent and shows concern when the class is struggling. He offers ample extra credit, extra help, tutors in the learning center, and is very quick to answer an email. Show up to class... try your best!!
He was very hard to understand. He has a very hard time hearing your questions or comments unless he is right next to you. I suggest not taking him if its your first year in college.
He is a good guy, but his lectures are very boring and not related to the textbook. It's a bad idea taking him if English is not your first language. He asks you to read a book written by Ayn Rand 50 years ago, talking about capitalism. Very hard reading. 25% of his test are based on that book. I'm a 3.9 GPA student and I struggled to get "A-".
Extremely nice professor with a good sense of humor. Very likeable guy and keeps lectures interesting. I dont know why people on here say hes so hard, his grading is set up so an 85 is a B+, 88 - A-, etc. Tests were moderately hard but he offered easy extra credit for every test. Overall, very good professor, I would definitely recommend him!
Very nice and helpful, however, lectures were absolutely dreadful and did not have much to do with the tests
Terrible professor. He does maybe one lecture per unit. I wrote down whatever he said and I still failed every exam. His grading scale save my life. But this class was extremely boring and EXTREMELY difficult to pass. I don't recommend him at all.
What a great guy! I enjoyed his class and yes exams are really hard but as long as you study and do the extra credit on the connect homework you should be fine! i will recommend him!
Mr. Trueman is one of the nicest teachers I've had! He really has the students' success and best interest in mind. He offers lots of extra credit opportunities to help your grade out. None of the assignments, readings, or projects he asks you to do are unreasonable or too difficult. He jokes around in class to lighten the mood too. :)
Professor Trueman was a great professor, though at times the coursework was difficult. If you don't understand something it is best to ask after class for a better explanation. He seems to work better in a one on one setting than speaking to a group. I highly recommend him.
All in all one of my best teachers to date. Would recommend him to anyone hands down
Very nice guy and very easy grader but he is very boring and you do not learn much. The tests are common sense and the lectures put you to sleep.
Trueman is probably one of the nicest men out there, however I would not recommend as a teacher. His lectures are very unclear forcing you to read the book for understanding. His lectures are very broad and then the tests are really specific making it extremely difficult. Good luck.
Very nice professor. I look over my lecture sheets, notes, the book and homework and none of it seems to help me pass the exams. Extremely tough class and I would not recommend it to anyone.
extremely nice, and helps you when you need it, he teaches with humor also
Trueman is a very nice man, but very boring. I found that showing up is very important not only for participation but for lectures too. His notes suck but his test reviews are very helpful. Overall pretty easy class if you put in the effort. And he was always willing to help anyone who asked.
Great teacher. Showing up to class is optional but it helps your grade big time. You need to read the book to do good on the tests. He explains things in a way that makes sense and he's pretty funny, just have to get used to the way he talks. I would definitely recommend him to anyone. Always very helpful, little homework and really easy.
Mr. Trueman is awesome. Great sense of humor, keeps the class fun. Very patient and very respectful, highly encourages class discussions. Be respectful and do your work, show up ready to learn, and he will ensure you grasp the concepts. Keep up the great work Mr. Trueman.
Mr. Trueman was an ok professor. He tries hard to connect with his students though he seems a bit out of touch. He has a bit of a lispslur and it can be hard to understand at times. Also he wears a hearing aid so don't be afraid to speak up. If you miss a class it can be pretty hard to catch up since he covers a lesson a class.
Professor Trueman is, honesty, the best teacher I have ever had. He gives you notes, teaches with enthusiasm, gives real world examples, and gets the class to participate in creative ways. He's also overall just a good guy. The class work isn't hefty, but you have to do it, and participate. I would definitely recommend him.
My favorite teacher of all time at Macomb. Sit in the front of the class and truly read what he is teaching. It will open your eyes into not only supply and demand but also understand how the government steps in as well. He also does the tutoring in the main library and really takes his time to go through everything with you.
Great guy and helped me out a bunch! He really understands and cares about your life outside of the classroom. Homework assignments are fairly easy and help you understand the material. Offers a lot of help to students and many extra credit opportunities for those in need! Take advantage of the extra points! Tests are pretty easy just pay attention
His material is pretty confusing, however he uses great examples for his class, and wants you to succeed. He's also the friendliest professor I've had at Macomb. If you struggle in economics like I did, I highly recommend taking his class. Be aware of the song lyrics he plays in the beginning of class for extra credit.
Has the weirdest grading system I have ever encountered, but I understand why he has it. Gives handouts for each section to follow with his lecture (which is kind of boring). Take extra notes and read the book. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Gives lots of extra credit. Attendance is a must he gives participation grades.
I enjoyed having Professor Trueman. He explains lectures well and offers plenty of extra credit to boost grades
Mr. Trueman is an awesome professor!! He's a fun, quirky guy who makes Econ soo easy to learn! If you show up to class, theres no way you won't pass because he gives so many handouts and great notes that relate to the test. Plus he offers a ton of extra credit throughout the semester. I want him for all my Econ classes!!
You must occasionally complete a timed activity at the end of class. He has a lisp & also smacks his lips sometimes. Easy A, but not if you never show up or never learn. Lots of extra credit opportunities. Have to have the code along w/ the book, which you don't need in class. You can answer unlimited questions & get 100% on every Inquizitive test.
Best teacher by far that I have had. He really cares about his students and wants everyone to pass. Even if you don't do great on tests, he offers a ton of extra credit. The online stuff takes a long time to do but it is a perfect way to study for tests. He is hard of hearing. All you have to do is speak up for him. You can understand him just fine
He was a great teacher and really wanted all of his students to pass.
He is really hard to understand. If you ask him a question he doesn't clear your question, it feels like he circles around the question asked and you still are confused about the topic. Very important to be in class every day. He starts of the class with a review and pick on three people. Lectures everyday and power points don't help.
He is a weak teacher who gets into politics at inappropriate times
He is tailored more for an Economics major. The terms are seldom defined and he uses them in difficult context. The tests are easier than I thought, but they have a lot of things mixed from the book, in-quiz and lectures. So, you have to pay attention to all of them.
Professor Trueman seems to care about his students, although he just can't seem to teach well. Class is run akin to a middle school classroom. Passes out notes that barely cover the subject matter required to pass tests. Recieve grades for attending class. Spends the first ten minutes of every class rambling about extra-curricular activities.
Mr. trueman really seems to care about every student. His lectures are confusing and his class handouts dont go well with his powerpoint notes. Homework was lengthy but helped as a study guide for tests and weren't due until the end of the semester. Everyday we had to pair up for participation points. Not really a great class for a shy person.
Professor Truman had great examples in each class to assist us with the material. He was always ready to offer extra credit and to help his students succeed. The only 2 issues I had with him were his difficult tests and that he brought up politics a little too much. Overall, he was a great teacher, and I think he helped me to understand Econ.
Mr. Trueman is one of the best professors that I have ever had. He really cares about all students in class and wants everyone to pass. He offers a lot of extra credit and also offers a prep sheet before his exams that is really similar to the actual test. He is a really easy grader, and I am glad that I had him for my summer class.
The Professor is one of the best that I have had. He gave extra credit, feed back, and helped each person to understand the information. The tests were not super hard but did take some studying. He tried to make lectures fun with group activities and other methods. He responded to questions within a few hours. Loved being in his class!
Great guy. Very friendly, but the homework is very irritating as you get points deducted if you get questions wrong and have to adjust your confidence meter on each problem. Besides that, tests are somewhat hard but he does give extra credit.
This class is easy for people who like to teach themselves and do self-study. I don't learn anything when he lectures. Everything is based on the book so if you read and actually know what you're reading, you will be completely fine. Also, he offers so much extra credit, so do all of them if you can it will be a great advantage.
I AM A STRAIGHT A STUDENT. This was the hardest class I have taken so far at MCC. You have to at least study 8 hours a week unless you really understand the material. If you want to do well, DO ALL THE EXTRA CREDIT. Do NOT take this class unless you are willing to put the time into it. He is a sweet teacher, but he wasn't clear on what to study.
He is such a nice, sweet, friendly guy! He relates the material to real world experiences very well so you can understand. It was not an easy course but that's because it is econ. If I had to choose any professor to take the class with I am glad it was Trueman!
The lectures and handouts are absolutely pointless even though attendance is for a participation grade. This class was 99% self taught. The homework assignments were unnecessarily long, difficult, and frustrating. They were required to be due the week of mid terms which makes it hard to study for other classes due to how time consuming they are.
Mr. Trueman is a great guy and cares about his student's success, hence he offers extra credit. Now remember economics is a difficult subject and I believe that 3 credit hrs for econ are not enough to cover the material intended for this course. Therefore, time will only allow major material to be discussed in class and you have to study the rest
Lectures and power points are all over the place and do not help your learning at all. Inquizitive homework assignments take way too long to accomplish and only frustrate you rather than help you learn. The tests are somewhat difficult but you must read the textbook cover to cover to be successful in this class.
This is probably the worse teacher you can ever get in your life . Makes no sense what so ever , runs around the topic in circles and makes you soooo confused and doesnt even cover the topic, gives zero study guides . And doesnt even know what hes talking about 99% of the time Im tellling you the whole class is so confused ... DONT TAKE !
This so far has been the absolute hardest class. We are constantly assisgned homework that we were not aware of and the notes we take in class do not match up to our actual assignments so its like a free for all when it comes to attempting the assignment. It is very hard to stay aware of the lessons so just pick a different professor trust me...
IM A STRAIGHT A STUDENT - This is the worst teacher I have Ever had in my life , doesnt teach for his life! So confusing in every way, treats us all like middle schoolers, and Ive been in the class for 3 months so far and havent learned a thing, many friends also took him and all dropped him or ended with a bad grade that doesnt transfer!
Awful. Guy just talks about his powerpoints for an hour. The powerpoints dont go with anything that is on the exam. He just reads the powerpoints to you. Also, is political and talks about Politics before class starts.
Really nice guy. He tries really hard, but unfortunately his teaching style does not get across very well. Everyone I have talked to in my class is just as confused as me. The homework isnt too too long but it is difficult so it takes way longer than it should. Would not sit through that course again.
Trueman is probably the nicest professor I've ever had. He wants to see everyone succeed. Everyone on here complains about his class, but seriously its college level econ. He does a very good job at keeping it entertaining, and he gives a ton of opportunities for extra credit.
This guy was the absolute worst professor I have ever had. He is nice do not get me wrong but the way he teaches is like a middle schooler. Econ should not be that time consuming take it from me who took him macro and micro but I withdrew from both of them and so many other kids did the same exact thing. Do yourself a favor and pick someone else.
His instructions for assignments were very unclear and when asked to clarify, my classmates and I were met with a brick wall. He was very unhelpful and he would mark you down for simply doing your Econ work in one sitting. Very unfair and the worst professor I've had all semester. I barely made it through this class.
Horrible. You have to teach yourself. The only thing you do in class is "get to know your classmates". I signed up for education not to socialize.
Here are some pieces of advice, always take the extra credit if you want to pass or have an okay grade. He is a nice guy and all, but man he cannot teach at all. If anything, I learned my classmates' names.
Loved my class with Mark Trueman, if you didn't put effort in you would still get a decent grade. You can tell Mr. Trueman is passionate about his job and wants you to understand. These bad reviews are probably from bad students to be honest. The class itself is ECONOMICS! its not easy by no means but Mr. Trueman was outstanding.
He is pretty easy as long as you stay on top of your assignments.
Be ready to basically write down anything and everything he says. He doesn't use the book to lecture, and he doesn't post PowerPoints. However, the book is necessary for assignments, so I struggled. Just take the class virtually, it would benefit you.
People seem to rate Mr. Trueman bad because helllllo its econ, not an easy class. Extra credit was offered, adn you could tell Mr. Trueman cared and wanted you to succeed. As long as you actually put time and EFFORT into this class you will pass. I got an A and truly I am not an A student.
The course is pretty simple and he does a good job of giving you the tools you need to succeed. He gives god feedback and answers to things pretty quickly. Sometimes would take a while to grade stuff. I would recommend taking this course.
Professor Trueman was very insightful with his grading critiques. One of the few professors I have had so far that digs deep into resolutions and feedback and really cares about the successes of his students. I would highly recommend!
Mr. Trueman was always available to help students both in and out of class. He often included fun examples/activities to help students grasp certain concepts. I would definitely recommend you take his class for any economics course. :)
Mr Trueman is a very nice and approachable professor who wants you to succeed. However, he seems to not explain himself thoroughly during lectures. He gives out A LOT of extra credit opportunities and I suggest you attend/do as many as you can because it does help. A lot. 4 total test/exams, no final, textbook is paid for when you register.
I loved this professor. He was very friendly and helpful. I would recommend taking him for Econ! He is a great teacher.
I admit that I was scared to take this class because I did not know how difficult this class would be. Honestly this class was not that bad he would make time if you need help on an assignment. Truman was one of the nicest and easiest teachers ever.
Teach your self by reading assignments and do all the overtime extra credit, only way to pass the class. Talks about stuff that has no connection to class. Wants to have fun time instead of teaching, don't take this class with him go with someone else. I did terrible on all exams, very difficult, bad teacher.
heavy tester, lots of extra credit, keeps PowerPoints up for student usage and exams are like 30-40% of your grade, the only downside is how heavy he is on politics and not even academic politics no personal belief on the election politics and how as an economist its a bad thing, its okay to have these thoughts but at least drop it after a few days
He is a great professor, very kind and caring. He gives a lot of extra credit opportunities. He always made classes fun. Great professor. I definitely recommend him.
If you actually try to do good in this class, you'll have an easy A. There are SO many opportunities to get a high grade, over 20 different extra credit chances. His lectures are focused on your knowledge of the concept and goes slow for everyone to understand. He's very nice and encourages participation. All homework is one Smartbook every week.
Very lecture heavy but he just read off of power points he gave you so the only benefit of going to class was the participation points.
He reads off powerpoint slide and explains things, but doesn't do it very well. His assignments are all online but they have little to no correlation with his tests. He offers a TON of extra credit in class and out of class - take all of it. Highly recommend a tutor for this course.
The professor was old and was a good person but he would put up a power point for every chapter and lecture the whole time. His class was so confusing, everything goes through one ear and out the other. However, he offers a lot of extra credit, DO ALL OF IT. There are 4 exams and each one increases in points, may god be with you when taking this.
Professor Trueman was one of the best teachers I have had so far at Macomb. If you asked for the help on an assignment he will explain it to me then he let me retake it. Just for asking for help he give me extra credit because know one else asked for help. Overall I would recommend him he is a great teacher wanting to help.
He is a great guy and is very understanding about grading which I appreciated a lot. It is a bit hard to follow so go to study sessions and do the extra credit because it makes up a lot of your grade. I personally don't love the subject, so it was hard, but he gives you lots of opportunities to succeed you just have to take them.
He was horrible, would rather talk about nonsense than econ. Had to teach myself and his lectures made no sense. Exams were very hard, lots of reading, only partial saving grace was a few extra credit opportunities, DO THEM. Do not take if you don't have to.
