He will keep you in class the full hour and a half! Never lets out early, never gives extra credit.
Dr. Tuttle is so crazy, I mean one strange dude. He makes you work wicked hard but he really cares.
Very enthuiastic about subject matter. 50-question multiple choice tests taken straight from the book/lectures. Be sure to do the quizzes, since the tests always have almost the same questions. Oh yeah, he's pretty funny, too.
Mr. Tuttle is a good professor. He gives alot of homework and quizzes but they give you good practice for his tests. He is very helpful if you have questions about the material, he seemed to really care. And he's funny too!
VERY LOUD. Knows what he is talking about and will explain it until you understand it. if you do the homework and quizes the tests are a piece of cake - just make sure you DO understand the material.
He is a funny guy but economics is very boring. If you read and go to class you should make atleast a C. If you study really hard you might make a B.
This class is too hard and he does not make it easy with all of his non multiple choice tests and quizzes over the lastest GDP numbers. Don't take him.
will explain until you understand and if youre still confused he will meet outside of class. Includes H.W. and Quizzes so grades arent just test. drops lowest test, and lowest 2 homework grades. Great Prof
This professor is completely incompetent. Explains the subject material in a simply manner making it easy on him and then assigns HW that has nothing to do with what is on the test. Did not prepare the class in any way to take his exams and then proceeds to make the exam as hard as one could make it. No one in a class of 37 students will pass.
good teacher. crappy tests. you will learn in the class, but your knowledge will not reflect your grade. i got my fisrt D in my life in this class. basically, this class just f***ed up my GPA
I absolutely hated this class and I didn't understand any of the material. I took Eco 234 and made a B and in this class I made a D....His tests are nothing like the notes and they are HARD!
This proffessor is a lot of fun but you won't learn a thing. You'll understand the material in class and then when u take the test you'll be lost. I studied really hard for all of his tests and barely made a D. Don't Take him!!!
Took Tuttle twice, intro to micro and intermediate macro. Hard material but pay attention and do the homework and go over it multiple times. He is entertaining and talks about himself in 3rd person.
Tuttle is funny. He's an economist at heart but I'm not an eco major so we didn't exaclty match. His tests could be hard at times he gives 8 tests and 8 hw's + the final so if u think about it it's both good and a bad thing. READ YOUR BOOK! I quit taking notes in the middle of the semester cause he was hard to follow but I read my book got an A.
HE'S OK. I DON'T REALLY GET THINGS HE TEACH.
His test are completely different then the quizzes and homework. Likes to confuse you on test,so you think you have the right answer but you really dont. Loves what he teaches but since he is so good at economics, he expects you to be at the same level, making it difficult to understand him
He expects us to spend 10-15 hours a week reading the book. His lectures make no sense and don't correspond to anything. It's sad, since for most students, this is just a filler class so you can keep full-time status. I took him twice 4 the same course now first time failed and now I had to drop the class. Only professor for ECO 362. Stay away!!!!!
Terrible Prof The tests are crazy hard and he is all around a jerk.He told our class that if we had any problems DO NOT call him or come see him in his office. I studied for at least a hour a day and when I got to the tests it was nothing like what the book says & His tests are over the stupid things he talks about in class. He gets off subject alot
My favorite teacher so far! Read the chapter and participate in class. It's a difficult subject but he really cares about teaching. It's not impossible. He never told my class not to come to his office, he encouraged it during every class. I studied and I made an A.
Would avoid this professor if I had a chance. Tests are completely nonsense and are very tricky. Homework is mandatory and he has no leniency what so ever. gets off topic a lot as well. I would choose another prof.
Listen to advice of others. This professor is horrible! Tests are tricky, the right answers are the ones he thinks should be right. Does not care about his students. Should not be teaching! Told the class he would deny anything bad said about him to the dean if there was ever a complaint.
He's pretty funny..not the easiest teacher..just ask for help.
At first I didn't think I would like this prof, but by the third class, I really began to appreciate his teaching style. Eco is NOT my favorite subject, but he made it understandable and applicable to the real world. He's approachable and helpful.
His class is NOT easy but he is a good prof. His tests are fair and you take quizzes & have homework that reviews what will be on the test. You will have to study; but you will definitely earn what you make in there.
He is a good teacher, but his class is really hard. You have to really study and even then, it's hard to make really good grades unless you're just really good at economics. This is my first economics class, so that also may be why it was so hard for me. Give him a chance. He's a goofball, but he knows his stuff.
super hard. DO NOT take this class with him! he is very rude and his tests are very difficult
Dr. Tuttle keeps the class interesting and the models as simple as possible. Not the easiest class but definitely interesting and worthwhile.
Contrary to previous reviews, Dr Tuttle is very helpful and cares about the grade that you EARN. The subject is a bit difficult, but if you study hard and read the chapters, you will pass. He is fun and interesting. If I had to take a more advanced economics course, I would take him again. Overall I earned a B in his class.
This class is not easy, but I don't understand why he has such a low rating. He is a good teacher and is willing to help you understand the material. He drops the lowest homework, quiz, and exam, and the homework and quizes are 75% of your grade, so there are plenty of opportunities to pass.
Dr. Tuttle is a really great teacher but the subject is just difficult. He makes everything as simple and clear as possible. He tries to keep the environment light. There is a lot of material so the book and notes are really helpful when doing homework. He tries to help everyone understand and always asks if anyone has questions or needs help.
Very intertaining instructor. His class is hard but this is not an easy subject. He gives home work that is due the class period before the test and there is always a quiz that day as well. This just helps you when you take the test. Homework and quizes are 25% of the grade, tests are 75%. He throws out the lowest test or you can skip final.
Overall good professor he tries to explain the subject in the simplest way possible, you will def. need the book and to study everyday. his class is not easy but he gives homework before every test. if you miss 3 class days your grade drops 10 points
Read the textbook make an A. Pretty simple class, any questions and he will answer them.
Mr. Tuttle is the Man! He is always cares about his students and believes that anyone can do anything as long as they put the work in. If you nail the homework youll nail the exam! Prepare for the battle and you'll win the war!!
don't take this guy..i don't like to speak negative about someone but this man does not care about his students and not clear when explaining things
Great Teaher. Class is tough at times, but if you work hard and pay attention you wil do in the clas. He is also always willing to help if you have problems with the material
Dr. Tuttle is a great professor, just do the homework and take notes during his lecture and you will make an A.
It's good that he's helpful. Very easy to confuse yourself.
I took his Business anaylsis class. He is a pretty funny professor. He definetly knows his stuff, and is good at explaining. If you pay attention and do the homework you should be ok. He does help his students alot but he expects you to put in the effort. Overall good professor. Homwork closely resembles the tests.
Very helpful, excited, and interesting professor. A must take.
I LOVE Dr. Tuttle. By far one of my favorite teachers at Sam. He is very helpful and the information on the homeworks and quizzes is exactly what is on the tests. I would recommend taking him as many times as possible.
Dr. Tuttle is the man. He is one of those professors you must take if you are a COBA student at Sam. He is very responsive via email, and ask the class if anyone has questions on anything. He does go on confusing rants at times, but they are usually very funny rants. Overall excellent professor and he really knows his stuff.
Let me tell yall ONE thing.. if you want to succeed in life and have a high GPA DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. He is very cool and nice, but his test are INSANE. I had one test and one problem was worth 38 points. Do not do it to yourself especially if you are not EXCELLENT in math, but if you are I guess you can go for it.
This was a very fair teacher. Drops lowest test, quiz, and homework score. Homework due weekly. Does not allow you to turn in your homework if you are late to class. So show up to class on time and don't miss class because this is a class you will quickly be confused in if you miss days. Very corny but in a good way. There to help. Decent professor
Great professor, would help with any questions you had. Very knowledgeable, gave great lectures that were very informative. Would definitely take again.
I took Tuttle for two classes last semester and I enjoyed his teaching in both. He's a funny guy. His quizzes have little weight and you probably won't score high on them but it makes you aware of just exactly what you need to be studying for the tests. Do the homework, look over the quiz answers, and there is no reason not to do well in his class.
Dr. Tuttle is an understanding professor who is willing to use his office time to help students who are are struggling in his class and other
I really struggled with this class. The instructor was clear on his instructions, it was me that wasn't understanding it. I took it as a summer class and all the sections were crammed together, so I didn't have a lot of time to do the work. There weren't a lot of assignments, so low test scores killed my grade.
Tuttle is very boring in his lectures. However, he works problems on the board to help you. He drops lowest quiz, homework, exam. There's a lot of homework which is due every week. You can not slack in this class or you WILL fail.
Took it online. This was the hardest online class I ever took. Stay away. i hear his econ4357 is tougher. I worked really hard a ended up with a C.
Managerial Economics was the hardest class I took in my entire college career. Taking it online didn't help either. I would definitely NOT take this class online. Maybe I would have done better than a D
Managerial Economics online was the hardest class ever. His lecture vidoes and instructional videos were useful. Learning the material seemed to be easy but the quizzes and tests seemed foreign.
I took his in class at first it seemed okay and the work load wasn't to bad , but throughout the semester i realized the hardness of the class his personal goal is to make you ready for BANA Intermediate but he will grade you all the way down to the decimal to decide your grade get a 79.5 or 79.8 he wont bump you up to a B so every point counts.
Weekly homework(lengthy) is a must & is due at the beginning of almost every class. 4 group quizzes the class before the exam. 4 regular exams & 1 comprehensive final. Drops the lowest exam grade (including the final) & lowest quiz, & lowest 3 HWs. All HW comes from the 2 text books. Not an easy class & is very time consuming. No other ex credit.
Class was fairly difficult, tests are 80%!! And they're aren't multiple choice. Lectures and homework rarely help you on the test. He does give partial credit for work shown which helped me pass class. Does not give extra credit. No review sheets, your review is a quiz before each test. He values learning the material, more than getting the grade.
Economics of Social Issues was a pretty easy class if you put in a little work and understand the Micro and Macro principles. Tuttle has a pretty dry sense of humor, but is super funny. He tries to make the lecture fun and understandable. He's very helpful if you have any questions. Go to class.
Tuttle doesn't care about your success. He doesn't reply to emails. His lectures are fine, but his quizzes and test are completely different so if you're good at solving everything by yourself then you'll be ok
Do not take this guy. I have had some bad Professors, but this dude takes the cake. Exams are NOTHING like anything he discusses in his lectures. You are literally on your own in this class. Avoid Tuttle at ALL COSTS! Even if it means pushing back your graduation, it ain't worth your GPA. I learned that the hard way.
Summer class - lots of information in a short period of time, you have to be on your toes with the formulas, if you have questions.... EMAIL him he responds quickly and explains things. Watch the videos.....
HARDEST CLASS I'VE EVER TAKEN!! Prepare for homework every night and reading the textbook to understand. Mandatory attendance because if you miss a day, you'll miss about 5 pages of notes.
His class was relatively easy, but those who didn't want to put in any work didn't get good grades. You have to work for it, but his friendly demeanor makes that easy.
very hard, all statistic and mathematical calculation.
One of my favorite professors I've ever had. He explains everything very thoroughly so take detailed notes and pay attention in class. Do the homework assignments, it's worth it. I did all the homework and looked over my notes before the tests and ended up with a 99 average. The class is easy if you put effort into it.
I wouldn't take him online. He reads off powerpoints & gives 3-5 examples after PowerPoint vid. He assigns homework but not graded. Gives Practice and Quiz before test but I am lost because lecture is more basic. He did give heavy extra credit opp. towards end but I might need more than that. He really needs to teach based off quizzes and tests.
This course is NOT EASY by an means, however, he gives practice assignments-which can be taken multiple times to improve your score, 3 chances on quizzes and 1 chance on the test. Practice and quizzes slightly differ from test. My advice is to team up with a group and practice, practice, practice. Test are proctored. You have to EARN your grade.
Don't take him or you will regret. Took his class online, there is A LOT of home work, quizzes and exams are in proctor free. Long boring lectures, professor himself is not helpful and doesn't respond to emails. Take a different professor.
Don't take him or you will regret it. Took his class online, there is A LOT of home work and exams are extremely difficult and are in proctor free. Doesn't respond to emails, just take a different professor.
WORST PROFESSOR IVE EVERE HAD, FIRST CLASS I EVER FAILED. Always make As a Bs. His lectures suck and if you email him and ask him to explain how to do something, IF HE REPLIES, he will say you must wait until after the unit is over. WHAT GOOD DOES THAT DO? i would recommend taking someone else or at another school to transfer. NOT A GOOD PROFESSOR
This teacher is the worst I have ever taken at sam Houston. He was not helpful. Did not respond to emails and the tests over material we had never learned. I had to drop the course or else I was going to fail. DO NOT take him
He is an odd bird but generally very nice. Always refers to himself in third person. Test is exactly like the homework he gives. If you pay attention and do the homework you'll be fine.
I took ECON 4357 class online & it was a huge mistake. His lecture videos suck & the questions on the practice assignments, quizzes, & exams are nothing like the problems he explains on the videos. If you email him about a problem he won't reply until after the due date. His exams are also ProctorFree. You have to teach yourself in this class.
No blow off class. If you do your homework and seek help if neede you will do fine. Do not be lazy! If you are lazy you will fail.
Took this class online during summer 1. There were 3 practice assignments, 3 quizzes, 3 exams, and a final. This was probably one of the hardest classes I have taken so far, but the professor was extremely helpful. If you practice and do the work, you will get a good grade.
Took this class online. The professor presented the material very poorly. I could not see what mistakes I made in the homework. So, I never knew where my work went wrong. I would not recommend taking this professor online. He might be different in person.
This class is extremely challenging since its a 4000 level class. If youre not good at math DO NOT take this online regardless of the professor. You HAVE to study and practice practice practice on the assignments to be prepared for the quizzes. Mark is tough but he gives good feedback in a timely manner. This is one class you cant slack in.
Very difficult class, you may not want to take many classes with it as the workload is demanding. Lectures were easy to follow but assignments & quizzes are setup differently than the exams. The exams are tricky and utilize proctor-free. He may be different in person but this was one very hard online class. Its been the toughest so far!
He's definitely an odd personality. Some will like it, as I did, others not so much. He's very informative and lectures are engaging. Homework is pretty simple. 20-40 questions each, all multiple choice. Exams aren't too bad. All multiple choice as well, just study the homework. He really wants to make sure you understand the content.
Tuttle is entertaining and able to keep me engaged in his lectures. He models his homework pretty similarly to the test and posts solutions online which makes the exams easy to study for. Sometimes he'll present a lot of material at once, but if you study even just once a day each week, you should do fine in the class.
Tuttle is great. He's really funny, and he definitely made me want to go to the lectures. There is homework due just about every day, but it isn't difficult, it only takes about 20 minutes. The grades all come from tests and the homework, but he drops grades at the end of the semester, so it isn't hard to get a good grade.
Tuttle was an awesome professor. I hated economics and did not do well in the class, (still passed) but he was always willing to help! Study the quizzes and homework for the test, and if you miss class you must study the textbook!
Great professor, took him multiple times.
Does not respond to emails or questions about the current unit. Will not work with you if you are disabled and will says your accommodations do not cover you and that he is exempt from honoring them. Will scream periodically through the class just because and his lectures are different from tests. He references the book, but says its wrong.
Professor Tuttle is super nice and willing to help you until you understand the material. Lecture heavy and grade is mostly based on exams. Ask questions and don't be lazy you will be fine.
Ok. Tuttle was my only option for this course in terms of schedule times. I knew there was no way I could handle this class online. I took this the semester after all colleges decided to do half online/half in person due to COVID. Tuttle talks at you. There are no mathematical examples on how to work any problem out. No reviews. Unexplained homewor
Due to COVID, class was taken online even though in class attendance is allowed. The notes/lectures are very abstract and done by hand. For people who are visual learners it is a rather difficult class. Assignments tend to be conceptual in that you will be writing/typing more than actual mathwork which is the main reason I chose a math degree.
The realest review. Look I have a 4.0 at the moment. I take 16 hours usually. I always try to take professors that aren't too difficult. I am very smart though. I just hate having to really be dedicated to a course. This class.. Idk why I took it. I can tell you that you have to watch the lectures and read the book and study.
Tuttle is an outstanding professor ! Business stats is no joke and I found it to be a difficult class but if you trust the process and work with Tuttle during office hours this course is very doable. The hardest unit in my opinion was the first one as it took time to learn how to study for this course. Overall great guy and I would recommend him !
BEST PROFESSOR EVER!! He is always willing to answer any questions you have, and explains everything so well. If you pay attention to the lectures, you'll do well in the class. He cares so much and wants everyone to succeed. If you have the chance to take him, TAKE HIM!!!!!
His lectures are similar to the textbook but don't rely on them. Homework each week that is out of the textbook. Exams are based off of homework so if your confused on the homework ask him about it. I didn't think he was great at making things clear so make sure to read the book. Drops lowest exam and two homework grades though so its hard to fail.
Top 5 best professors at Sam. Made the math easy to understand and made sure the whole class understood before moving on. Drops lowest test score so pay attention and do well all semester so you can skip the final. Wish I could give higher than a 5.
Honestly one of my favorite professors! The material itself can be difficult, but if you go to office hours and participate in class you'll do well. He's very responsive to emails and great at helping students whenever they need. Attendance technically isn't mandatory but I highly recommend going to class. Overall great prof!
Mark Tuttle is holier than Christ. One of the few classes I look back on with memories of fondness. Application of the material to actual events, actually funny, straight-forward no bullsh*t lectures on whiteboard, helpful, no powerpoints. Extremely based. Tuttle please marry me I love you.
He's a pretty cool guy, and is very helpful. Would take him again, he made statistics easy to understand.
If I was a Jew I would think that Markland Tuttle was the second coming of Christ. I have taken him for 4 classes now and have loved every single one. If you fail his course it is truly on you. I have taken very hard courses with him and very easy. He is super fair and is very accessible.
This professor was amazing. I appreciated that he does plenty of review before test days and hw definitely prepares you for exams. I feel incredibly confident to tackle the second BANA. I highly recommend taking Tuttle, very hard to fail this class.
Dr. Tuttle is a great professor, but this is also a difficult class. I would have appreciated more interactive and structured lectures; sometimes it felt like he was just lecturing on a whim, and I never felt well-prepared for the exams, no matter how much I practiced. The third exam (right after Thanksgiving) tanked my grade.
Awful lectures, over half my class dropped, for tests he didn't even put out reviews most of the time. Do not take this course with him he is terrible.
Tuttle teaches in a way to prepare you for the real world. If you pay attention and take good notes in class, especially the example problems, you will do fine. Listen to exactly what he says, and write down anything he does. Do the homework, the repetition DOES help. The course is difficult no matter what professor you take. Take Tuttle.
Homework heavy course but its easy. Quizzes are done in groups. Tests are hard. But he drops the lowest of each of those three grades which means the final is optional
Dr. Tuttle doesn't just teach stats he descends from the heavens with a dry erase marker in his hand to rescue the lost souls drowning in statistics. Every lecture feels like a sermon, every formula feels like a scripture. If you want to worship at the alter of standard deviation, this is your guy. 10/10 would be baptized in Statistics again.
If you need to take anyone for BANA 2372 it has to be him. I learned so much and he was incredibly helpful. He responds relatively quickly to emails and is very accessible outside of class. I will say you clearly see his passion for the material and I appreciated it. Definitely recommend taking him!
Tuttle is a great professor. I came in worried about the class, but while attendance isn't mandatory, it is the key to success in his class. This class has a lot of homework, but it calculates for extra points and is useful. The exams are extensive, but he drops your lowest exam score. He cares a lot about students success.
