He is very passionate about his job! never uses powerpoints, just lectures using some notes and a map. He talks about history like its a story book, so his lectures are easy to follow along and are often enjoyable. cracks some stupid jokes every class but over all he means well and is a nice guy. the only exams are the midterm and the final

If you don't like writing down every word he says during his lecture, then this professor isn't for you. He wont allow you to use computer or phone to take notes Open-note exam but he doesn't allow typed notes for the exams. Only Mid-term and Final exam. He wont give any study guide or any other material. You wont get bored in his class.

Friendly. Gets really involved in his lectures. Enjoys what he does, however, is a little too "anti-Trump" I guess the term would be for my liking. Just lectures. No powerpoints. Just some notes scribbled down on the board and a map, and him speaking with a marker in hand. Tracks attendance, missing more than half of classes will result in failure.

He lectures the whole class, the whole semester. And you can't type up notes, you have to bring in a notebook. But his class is amazing and I look forward to it. You don't need to get the textbook he says you need for the class (waste of money) and you only take 2 tests the whole semester (Mid term and final). I'm taking him next semester too!

Professor Washburne is a real gem who loves history. You definitely have to show up because he lectures every class, which you are expected to take notes. As long as you take good notes, you should definitely pass. The only tests are the midterm and the final but they are open notes. He is super nice and always making jokes, great guy!

This man is my favorite history teacher, period. He's super passionate about his subject and always has an engaging discussion about current events. There are only two tests and they're so easy if you either A) take all the textbook notes or B) just pay attention and write everything in class. He's amazing!

Prof. Washburne loves his job and loves history. Youre graded only on midterm and final. He lectures every class and heavy note taking is a must. All questions comes straight from his lectures. Attendance is a must. He is an extreme democrat and constantly made comments about trump through out lecture. Lecture can be boring but you learn a lot

I took HIS167 online spring semester 2021. You are only graded based on a midterm and final. They are easy and you will get an A if you listen to his lectures and take good notes. You can tell when he is reading off of his own notes. The exams are open hand-written notes. Barely needed any information from the textbook. Easy A if you try

Took his class over Shindig (eventually transferred over to zoom) and he lectured the entire class. Your notes have to be thorough because he only has a midterm and final exam. Extra credit if you participate. Only pulls a few random questions from the textbook so as long as you take good notes then you'll pass. 10/10 professor, retained a lot.

Professor Washburn is probably the best history professor at CCM. Even though I always had a passion for history, he made it more interesting and fun. Make sure you pay attention during the lectures and take good notes so you can get As on the midterm and final. Great professor and great guy!

Professor Washburne was mediocre at best. He only has two grades in the class and both were the midterm and the final so there is no room or time to get your grade up. He asks for specific answers on open ended questions and isnt very fair with the answer you give if its not in his words.

He is great, your grade is based completely on the midterm and final which are open notes. Take HANDWRITTEN notes (you cant use laptop in exams), try to write down most of what he says especially the things he repeats and you will get an A. dont waste money on the book, there are literally 2 exam questions based off of it

Professor Washburne is a very fun teacher. His classes are lecture-heavy, but he'll crack a lot of jokes throughout. The only grades for the whole semester are the midterm and final. You need to take good notes during class to succeed. There are also a few questions from the textbook on each test. Fun class & a great teacher.

Not the worst professor but couldn't keep his political views out of his mouth. Every class he starts off the first 10 minutes with a current events segment. Articles are centered around what he believes and is just looking to start an argument. Other than that take a lot of notes. Tests are open note!

Although his tests were open note, I still struggled to get even a C on them. There are only two grades the whole semester so if you fail a test you have less of a chance to bring up your grade. He is very pushy with his political views so if you don't like that I would not take him. Not my favorite professor

This is the easiest class you will take at CCM. There are three basic steps to get an A+ in this class: 1. Take notes; 2. Bring notes to midterm + final (which he allows!) and; 3. Raise your hand once per class. Do these three and you are guaranteed to get an A+. He's gonna bother you about reading the book but honestly it's not required.

What can't I say?! TAKE THIS MAN!!! He is an absolute gem on campus so when you get the chance, sign up! He's approaching retirement. You learn something about him and his family tree every now and again throughout the semester. He's related to FDR. If you strongly support Trump be ready to deal with his humorous jabs-he's a die-hard Democrat.
