Good teacher and always understanding when extenstions needed on homework. Goes over everything and gives option to take class on-line. Overall great teacher and funny!

Able to make a boring subject as interesting as its going to get. A lot of projects/homework, but it was generally pretty easy and he'll always help you out if you're having any trouble. Quizzes were very easy as long as you did the practice quizzes. I would encourage anyone who needs this class to take it with him.

Nice guy who's willing to help you out. Easy going with a lot of bad jokes--and some good. ;o) There is the annoying amount of homework, but I'd recommend him to anyone. I don't think you'll find better for this class.

welfley makes what would be the most boring class ever, enjoyable. tells a joke every class. the assignments are NOT super easy, but he WILL help you if u ask. you can take a "practice" quiz, which is basically the same exact thing as the real quiz, before class. if you have to take micro comp take welfley! no need to buy the books either

Very good class. Taught in a way that relates to the real world. You can do very well on the quizzes if you take the pratice quizzes. Projects not too hard, but if you have a question he is most helpful. Really is a good example of the profs @ UA. Glad I took his class.

This guy thinks he is the****. In reality the class is super boring, there is WAY too much work and he is not funny at all. He also picks favorites and clearly grades their HW differently. My friend, who he loved, and I turned in the EXACT same HW assignment with all the same answers and she got an A and I got a B- on it. Not cool at all.

makes class as interesting as possible, definitely a cool guy. way too many assignments, quizzes and projects. i have mixed feelings about the class, but since you have to take it i would suggest you do so with him.

I took Welfley's Microcomputer class and I learned a lot. I received an A in this class, but I never missed a class and I always paid attention. One thing I will mention, is that I paid about $200 for the book and never used it once, so wait before school starts to actually see if he is going to use the book for your class.

I can not say enough about this class. The university needs more professors like Mark Welfley. He is extremely helpful, funny, and you actually learn stuff that will be useful in the future. You do have to go to class to understand how to do things and to complete assignments. Don't need to buy the book. Even if you dont need the class, take it

This is one of my favorite classes. A lot of notes but easy. He also tells jokes which most are good. Take him if you have to take this class or are looking for other classes to take!!!!

This guy is a great teacher to take, and as long as you pay attention and take notes, you will get an A. he tells you to return your Text book so dont buy it!

Great professor! Dedicated to help students out in any way possible. Challenges you to think on assignments. Tells jokes and keeps the class interesting and keeps everyone on their toes and laughing. (Hint: turn your phone off / on silent because if he hears it you better be prepared to sing a lil rap) :)

Great teacher. I took him in the fall semester and he still remembers my name.He doesn't use the book and lets you use your notes on the quizes. There aren't any tests. Really nice. Funny Jokes

Really nice guy. Genuinely smart and makes a well above average effort to get to know students. Course can be surprisingly difficult at times. I actually understand complex Excel tools even if my grade doesn't agree in the end. Don't go in there thinking it's a cakewalk, but use the study quizzes he gives on Springboard and pay attention in class.

Prof Welfley is the best prof I have ever had. He truly cares about and gets to know his students. This class is not a breeze, but he will teach you everything you need to know. You do need to put effort in. He is absolutely hilarious and I always looked forward to his class. He is a truly nice guy. I highly recommend his class!!

Great prof! Assignments can be difficult and time needs to be allowed to work through them. Procrastination needs to really be avoided here. Very nice and great to talk to. A lot of practical, useful info is learned here as well!

I had this teacher for Micro computer with bus applications and he is on of the most kindest and cares about the students very much, i would encourage you to take this class with him he is very funny. always has a joke to say which makes the class even more fun. LOVED HIM. He is an amazing teacher. Really nice guy, very helpful. The class itself is quite hard. The average for the first test was bad. Just go to class and do the case studies along with him on your laptop and you will do fine! Highly recommend him :)

Had him for spreadsheet, the class itself is hard but if you bring your laptop and do the case studies along with him it's a piece of cake. Awesome guy! Really cares about the progress of his students. He knows excel isn't quite the most exciting subject or students so he cracks jokes and tries to make class a little more fun. Definitely take him if you have the chance.. Just know you will have a lot of homework related to in-class work so you have to go to class!

Cannot recommend this teacher enough. Amazing lectures, super funny, keeps the class interested despite monotonous material. He has practice quizzes and exams that are EXACTLY the same as his actual ones just with different numbers. Has hours where he works on case studies with students. Take him for spreadsheets!!! He does an exact replica of the homework with you in class just different numbers. Once I did horrible on a quiz, went and talked to him about it and he allowed me to make up some points. Very caring!

He is such a nice and caring professor. I missed some of the case studies due to me being ill and he let me make it up with a very small deduction. He also allowed me to move my final to a different date because other wise I would have 3 exams back to back. Very caring, nice, and understanding professor. Take him if you can!

Mark was an amazing professor who gave me an outstanding grasp of Excel and Access in a short time period. He's a really funny guy who is extremely nice and caring for his students and always helps outside of class. Take his class you will not regret it!

Mr. Welfley is an Awesome guy. He presents the work in a easy to understand way and makes the hour and 15 minute classes go by fast. If you take the practice exams and copy the in class case studies for the out of class case studies, then there should be no reason to get a bad grade. He's awesome by the way.

Mark is an awesome professor who really cares for his students. He is always available after class or after the day is over if you need extra help. Mark will make you work for the grade, but he is always willing to help you. Take him!

Take him for computer apps, you won't regret it. You have to come to class though, you will fail if you don't. However, the homework is just what you learn in class with different numbers, so it's very easy. There are in class reviews and test reviews on Springboard for your exams, all exact replicas of the exams just with different numbers.

LOVE this professor! He is hilarious and always makes coming to class not so miserable. Not a fan of Microsoft Excel but he makes the class enjoyable. Probably one of my favorite professors. You have to go to class or you wont do well at all.

Very easy class. Pay attention. He does an in-class assignment and the homework assignment completely corresponds with it. Do the HW and the in-class assignment at the same time along with him in class, easy A. Quizzes are open-note. Funny guy and very understanding. -2 points each class missed. Gives 1 extra credit assignment at the last class.

Amazing professor. Helps you to apply the actual use of spreadsheets in real life. He helped me to truly understand how Microsoft spreadsheets works.

Great professor. Do the case studies in class while he goes over in the class cases. Need to attend class, and do not let you phone go off or he'll make you sing for the entire class! Offers extra credit at the end of the semester which helps a lot

Welfley is great. He is a very funny professor, who knows all of his students and interacts with everyone in class. As a professor, he goes very slow through the tutorials of excel and access, which helps you understand what's happening, but with his smooth tone, he can put you to sleep if you let him. I definitely recommend Welfley, drink coffee.

TAKE THIS PROFESSOR FOR SPREADSHEETS! I've heard awful stories of the other teachers but Mark is by far the best. He gives out a ton of extra credit and lets you use your computers in class so that you can save the case studies.

He is a great professor and the cases you work on in class are the exact same process for the homework. He has practice exams and a practice final so if you take the time to do the practice ones, you will ace the exams. Exams are also open notes! He tries to make class less boring and takes time to help if you have questions in class.

Welfley is such a bro. Chill, helpful, funny. He understands that very few are passionate about what he teaches so he tries to make it accessible/relatable. Easy class for me but if you're struggling he will 100% help you. Do the assigned case studies while he does the in-class ones. Same concepts, different numbers! Saves time outside of class.

The best professor at Akron! He's so chill & makes class fun, despite teaching a very boring topic. The case studies you work on in class are your homework but with different numbers. DO the practice exams & quizzes, same thing just different numbers. You get a cheat sheet for the semester (keep it, its useful even outside of class)

Mark Welfley is honestly one of the best professors you will have early on your CBA Journey. He is full of passion and understanding you will be engaged and challenged but Welfley is there to help you out and get through it with great understanding.

Wasn't sure about him at first which had me off balance. After a few classes it hit me... he is teaching freestyle. No book, no course pattern. He knows his subject, he's good at it, and I am convinced. He enjoys having fun with the class and getting to know his students. He is genuine, personable, his lectures can be tough, but you will be taught.

Professor Welfley makes everything he teaches in this course very accessible. My only complaint would be not feeling challenged enough in this course and his leniency towards other students grades. His tests and homework are fair and if you pay attention they are easy. Cold called a lot with some confusing questions but would take again easily

Professor Welfley is the single best professor I have ever had. He is engaging through dry subjects, he encourages participation and encourages you as a student. If you show up to class, you will get an A, as his lecture was detailing exactly how to do the homework. He is understanding and funny, and I 100% recommend his class.

For spreadsheets online it was very easy, just watch the videos then do the spreadsheet. I would recommend taking any of his classes in person though, since he's a pretty cool and funny guy that teaches well and gives a lot of answers.
