He is hella easy. He accepts homework until the end of the semester. He grades hella easy. His lectures are kinda dull. Hes really into architecture.
he is totally nice and really into his carreer. He is full of information and totally knows what he is talking about his tests are easy only if you study and know all of the dates!! I would take another class from him. Hes also halarious.
Very easy. Have been to class 4 times and have an A. Has taken attendance twice all semester. 2 tests, 2 papers, no other grades. Took no notes and only used syllabus and aced test easily. His wardrobe is also awesome.

Professor Wilson was a really great instructor who was very passionate about art history. He doesn't teach out of the text book. The tests are taken directly from his lectures and he shares personal stories to add interest. 2 tests; 1 paper and tons of extra credit. I definitely recomend him to anyone who is interested in art history.
This class is really easy, but its hard to follow because he talks really fast.
He tends to speak very quickly, however, he is really into what he teaches and makes it a point to go over anything that isnt understood if mentioned to him. He lays out everything on the 2 tests very clearly as well as format for the 2 papers. He baisically gives you all you need to know and he is very leniant on the memorization of the dates. I thought he was great! Very buisness-like.. Get in, get what you need and get out sorta thing...
This is a boring class, but he is an excellent teacher. I learned a lot from his lecture. Good instructor!
Pretty good teacher, very funny and makes the long summer class go by pretty fast. Offers a good amount of extra credit so if you slack off you can still get an A in the class. Learned a lot from him and enjoy a class I thought I would hate.
I liked his class, getting sit back, look at great art and have it all explained to. he offers extra credit, gives two tests, and two papers. He really loves what he teaches.
I took his class in the summer and I'm glad I did. He has a dry and witty sense of humor. Take good notes and do E.C. and you will be fine.
I took both 2.1 and 2.2 from him. Easiest teacher ever. There are plenty of opportunities for extra credit, very straight forward class, two papers and two tests (midterm + final exam). He has a really dry sense of humor and drags on but you do learn a lot and the art pieces make it interesting. Overall very easy and interesting.
Super easy class. All you have to do is study the need to know pieces of art before the two tests and if you can get those down you will be fine. 2 papers, 2 tests. The only thing that was completely annoying was that we would finish our need to know slides for the night, and he wanted us to stick around for an hour to look at his own slides.
I learned a lot in this class Art History 2.1, pay attention to what he's saying, and you really do need to take really good notes and attend each class. The two exams are not too bad. But if you want an A on every assignment and exam you really have to memorize everything. He's friendly, nice and polite. I will take Art History 2.2 from him next.
This class is as easy as anyone could hope. All your grade consists of is two papers and two exams. I take the class from 7-10 and he likes to talk as long as possible and go off on random topics but other then that he is a good teacher.
If Mr. Mark Wilson were an animal he'd be a yak. The man will not shut up. You will appreciate the wisdom of "silence is a virtue" once you have taken this class. The upshot is that the class is easy. Wilson is very repetitious as he imparts HIS Story into your brain. Over and over. Come to class armed with Ipod. Or catch up on your zzzzzz's
Tangency is the best word to describe his lecture style. He was a neat guy, with some cool stories, but it was so hard not to fall asleep. In the middle of a sentence he would go off on something completely different, and never return to what he was originally saying. This made it really hard to take coherent notes. Easy class though.
extremely boring!!!! do not take this class if you like art history he will ruin it for you!
tests are easy if you take notes and show up for lectures. Follow directions on written reports and you will get an A.
Easy class, only 2 simple papers and 2 easy tests. Dont buy the big book, its never used. Just follow the intructions on everything and you'll get an A.
Do not take this teacher he rambles on and on and it sounds like he is talking to himself.he takes up to a half hour explaining why he will do something next class to save time, when he could have done it in less time than it took him to explain why he doesnt want to do it.i cannot stand this man.i dont know how i survived him for a whole semester.
i left his class everyday in a bad mood, because of him. i seriousely wished i was deaf so i didnt have to listen to him. for the tests you have to memorize 5 sentences about the meaning and 5 sentences about the the formal analysis. plus the date and place or artist. about 60 slides for each test. sometimes he starts early and often runs late
He is an extremely easy grader, but staying awake in his class is a challenge. I was tempted last week to break my finger for an excuse to leave.
TAKE HIM if you want an easy A!!! seriously, all you have to do is show up and take notes and write 2 easy papers, 2 exams for which he tells you what to study. Everything people are saying about him is true, but if you are a scientist or engineer and just need an easy humanities/arts class take him - effortless besides trying to stay awake.
I could say alot but everything has already been said for me. Easy grader but murder to listen to 90% of the time i listened to my ipod instead of him.
He talks so much it's hard to tell what is important to remember. He obviously has a real love for the subject. He is very knowledgeable but kind of stuck up about it. I answered one of his questions incorrectly in class and he actually laughed at me.
This was literally the easiest class I have taken. I got an A, but you do have to take some time to memorize the paintings, but its not too bad. Wilson never stops talking. period. so its sorta hard to pay attention in class all the time
Art 2.2 Mr.Mark Wilson. This man is a remarkable teacher. I am an older student and sufferaed a stroke a few years ago. He had no problem working with my poor meemory. A very knowledgable man. Take his class if you are willing to do the work given by a man who knows his profession. If you do not wish to work or study don't waste his or your time!
WOWWWWW this class was reallly hard for me. I had trouble remembering all the slides he wanted us to know. Stuck-up, wont shut up about his book he wrote. Easy grader, 2 easy papers. attend class, although you wont want to, do the essays and study and you should be fine.
so awful. he rambles to the point of insanity. he is easy but i couldnt stand being in class listening to him ramble. i just stayed home and took notes from the book.reviews to tell you what will be on the test, extra credit galore
not a very good teacher. no reason to go to class at all. just look up art pieces on line and go on review days. cant always understand what he says. goes off on many tangents. lots of extra credit. very boring. almost always 5-10 minutes late.
I had Mark for art history. He's clearly passionate about the subject but seems a little self-obsessed. He brags about being a published author to a point where I was visibly rolling my eyes at him. He also rambled so much I was white knuckling it through some classes. Besides this, the course was clear, consistent, and easy.
Mark is such a goof. He doesn't know when to shut his trap but he is a great guy. He loves throwing in personal stories randomly when he talks and can get quite off topic, only if for a moment...I think he's hilarious and he makes Art History fun. Make sure you listen in class. He is definitely a art history geek who likes to self-promote a bit.
He does not know when to shut up; he gets off from the topic too often. Never replies to emails. Exams are mostly essay questions, which sucks. However, he does give out a lot of extra credit assignments, and he's an easy grader on papers. Still, I did not like him.
I had to drop this class, because Wilson isnt very clear on the information that he presents to the class. He is so boring, not worth taking.
Wilson is a funny guy. Rambles on about stories that you can't help but laugh. Grades very fair and is very helpful. Keeps class light and interesting. Shows some of his own slides which are interesting. Would definitely taken him again. Offers extra credit and is easy to get ahold of on email.
Come to class prepared to write a copious amount notes about art pieces from all over the world. He's somewhat clear as to what he expects for his art critique papers and art gallery. He's an easy grader for his papers, but for the tests you're required to know about 36 slides. He only tests you on about 7 though.
I really don't like this teacher. He contradicts the text, states his own opinion as fact and isn't very knowledgeable about his subject. He's boring and his lectures are vague. I don't know how I'm going to finish the semester, wish I had dropped him while I could.
loved this class crystal clear on what you have to do to get an A, 3 papers one not graded, 2 tests midterm and final, and extra credit could you ask for more. One less class to stress about just go to class take notes and study what he asks you to that is all. I love him and would take him again.
Mark is a very good teacher and knows what he is talking about. His grading style is very easy and straight forward. I almost never went to class and I received a B because of the extra credit he offers. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT!!! He speaks really quite and mumbles about off subject thing which can either be funny or annoying. Easy Grader.
Getting a good grade is as simple as taking good notes and studying before the few tests assigned. Research papers aren't too demanding and several opportunities to save your grade through extra credit
Very easy class overall. He is very passionate about what he teaches. He takes up the whole class time so don't expect to leave early. The tests are very easy to study for because he goes over all the information on the test in his lectures.
Tests are based entirely on notes from class so skipping is not advised. Mark clearly loves art and architecture and it shows in his lectures. He offers ample opportunity for extra credit, including walking tours of nearby historical sites. He also mixes in some of his own slides during lecture. I enjoyed the class very much.
TAKE MARK'S CLASSES! He's very knowledgeable in the subject. No homework, just a midterm, final, & 2 easy essays w/extremely clear guidelines. Tests are notes-based, no need to get the book. Easy grader, says exactly what's on the tests, just memorize that and you'll get an A. Lots of easy EC that helped me still get an A after failing the midterm!
Goes on such extreme tangents to where discerning the material is difficult. Requires you to know details about the art pieces to such a ridiculous extent that other Art History teachers would not.
Dont take this professor unless you love art he goes on long tangents and will confuse you. The majority of what you hear is his personal stories that dont pertain to the tests.
There are only 4 things that are graded but it's clear on rubric of what you need to pass. Lecture heavy and it's better if you participate or it will be a long semester. Take good notes and make flash cards after every class and you will thank me later for exams. Go to class and you won't fail. Lots of extra credit opportunities.
Mark seems like a really sweet guy but he's very scatterbrained and it made it extremely hard for me to follow his lectures or make sense of what he wanted from me. The two papers were easy, clear criteria, but I tanked my grade with the two exams because I couldn't follow his lectures/what he wanted. Lots of extra cred options
Very hard to understand; he mumbles and his voice lowers and falls a lot. He also constantly goes on long unnecessary tangents . His instructions are very unclear and he doesnt do anything online; he gives a lot of handouts in class. Ive gotten As in every art history class Ive taken here except this one because his style is so hard to follow.
His extra credit opportunity is buying his books (that he wrote) on Amazon, and he somehow thinks that is acceptable. His lectures are unclear, and he assigned a paper that had literally zero instructions regarding subject matter. What should be an easy A has turned into a nightmare. It might be a little better if he used Canvas, but no
This guy is horrible to listen to cause hes so boring. He goes off on random tangents about his life. Essays need to be EXACTLY how he wants it or lots of points will be taken off.
This teacher is an easy A with lots of extra credit, and no homework! You will however not enjoy his class or the way he teaches at all. He goes off about the most random things and if you ask questions or ask him to repeat something he said because your notes are based on his talking only he will make you seem like you're dumb. AVOID.
Mark was great! His lectures could be long but they were always engaging and he often included his own slides and funny anecdotes at the end of class. There are only 4 assignments, but he offers enough extra credit to bump you up a full letter grade. He is also super lenient about late work which was nice! Would 100% take again!
Mr. Wilson is an incredible professor. Im currently taking my second class from him. He makes art history easy and understandable. He records his classes so theyre a subtle if you miss them. He gives great extra credit options, and hes overall a wonderful professor, you learn a lot!!!
If youre looking for a fun but easy A youve found it. Professor Wilson clearly has a passion for art and it shows. You dont have to buy the books to pass and depending on your memory and discernment skills you dont even need to be in class after midterms. You get 4 assignments all semester 2 papers and 2 test then thats it. Tons of ec too!
Mr. Wilson is one of the best teachers I have ever had. If you are new to college take his class. 2 papers and 2 tests. He has a lot of extra credit options so if you dont do well on one of the tests/papers extra credit is easy to get. He does talk fast but hell always go back and repeat. He talks about is travels and makes fun jokes throughout.
This class was easy but VERY overwhelming when it came to note taking. I personally couldnt take notes during class because he talked way too fast, it was impossible to keep up. Watching a 1hr & 30 min. lecture turned into 5 hrs because id have to keep pausing every few seconds to write each fact. I wish he didnt throw in unnecessary slides too
I really enjoyed taking this class because of a few reasons. First, it is very interesting content and he tells you exactly what to write down so you are prepared for exams/papers. Second, his criteria for grading is extremely clear which makes a student's life easier. Lastly, he is a very kind person who is more than willing to help when needed
Excellent professor! Super easy to get an A and offers plenty of extra credit. Easy to understand and very fair grader. His lectures are a bit long but not hard to follow. No homework, just a couple of research papers and midterm and final. 10/10 recommend.
The lectures are very interesting and you will learn a lot. The grading criteria is straightforward. If you make sure you understand the principles of art he teaches you, you should have no problem getting a good grade. He also has lots of extra credit options.
Wilson is a great teacher in this subject and he truly does want you to succeed. His grading sheets very clearly state what you need for a good grade and it is not hard to achieve!! Ive taken three art classes and have gotten A+ in all of them. Dont miss out on him!
Great professor! Lectures are a couple of hours long and he teaches a lot about history and culture along with art techniques. As others have said, he does speak fast! Lectures are recorded but if you're unable to type or write quickly, maybe choose another professor. Multiple extra credit opportunities and clear grading rubrics.
Please do not EVER take this professor for an online class - He does not use canvas - Email only. He doesn't respond fast or consistently either - His zoom meetings are a mess, he goes off on many tangents like many other reviews have stated already - Unclear instructions (not updated, grammatical issues are common) - No essay samples. Good luck.
Excellent class to take, whether you're genuinely interested in the subject or just getting gened in. Class is pure lecture from start to end. Only a handful of assignments and quizzes. It's so easy you'll feel like you're cheating. Just show up and take moderately good notes and you'll practically be guaranteed an A. ALL TESTS are open book/note!
This was the first class I took after taking a break for 10+ years. I was nervous and scare. Professor was amazing. He explains everything and let's you know what his explanations are. I loved his class and will be taking more of his classes in the future.
My best advice would be go everyday, take good notes and sketch the slides he's talking about. If you do that you won't need to touch the textbooks. He's a really easy grader and gives lots of extra credit opportunities.
I loved the class! very lecture heavy but if you take good notes and show up to class you will get an easy A! The only homework is reading the textbooks but if you take good notes you don't need to read the books. If you take the night class you do get about a 20 min break halfway through class which is very nice. Overall I enjoyed the class a lot.
Wilson is a great teacher, his classes are lecture based and there are few assignments. As long as you show up to the lectures and take good notes, this course is easy and fun. Wilson is funny and has a big personality, he knows a lot about the subjects he teaches and is clearly very passionate about his job. He also offers plenty of extra credit.
The tests are easygoing since they are open notebook tests, but this professor doesn't use Canvas so that we as students can keep up with grades and all, most of us are really confused with his system of teaching, by far one of the worst professors here at the SRJC..
Mr. Wilson is a great teacher! He does talk a lot but is extreamly passionate about the subject. He doesn't use canvas but has 2 test and 1 paper so it is really easy to keep up with important dates. Just be ready to show up and take notes since you can use that on the test. There is also up to 50 points of extra credit so you can pass the class.
Professor Wilson is very informative if you are interested in Art History. He lectures for the most part and prepares you for the tests and exams which is pretty straightforward so long as you take notes.
This is an easy class to succeed in. He offers fun and creative extra credit, is clearly passionate about the subjects and gives minimal homework. He invites students to perform, in our class a cultural dance was displayed by a classmate, which enriched the in person class.
Professor Wilson is passionate about what he teaches. He is incredibly interesting, organized, and I was happy with the structure of the class. I took him two semesters. Make sure you take notes every class and tests will be a breeze. Everything is open note! I recommend taking him highly.
Professor Wilson was effective, straight to the point, and friendly when approached. This is a 3 hour class with a 20-25 minute break in the middle, which he's adamant about providing. The lectures can run a bit long and dry but the core of the class and information provided is worthwhile. If you're interested in art or history or both, take this!
This professor is truly exceptional, undoubtedly one of the finest at SRJC. Initially, I expected the class to be dull due to my limited interest in art, but the instructor changed my perspective. Their focus on test-relevant material and clear assignments make this class remarkably straightforward. Commendable teaching!
Great instructor. Really knows his salts. Likes talking outside of class. He packs a lot of info into his lectures however, and it leaves almost no time for questions. But definitely much better than professor Wikipedia --- goes beneath the surface in his discussions. Which is good, because art history is kind of a war zone...
He really knows what he's talking about and gives interesting lectures. Lots of extra credit options, open note tests, and a very generous late policy.
Prof Wilson is awesome! Super smart, well traveled, all his lectures are from memory. There are very few assignments which can be scary, but he allows so much extra credit it's hard to fail this class.
Great teacher. Easy to get a good grade, but be sure to do the work.
take him, super easy.
Very easy class to pass, midterm and final were open note, so make sure your notes are reliable. The majority of the homework is reading. There's plenty of extra credit opportunities to take advantage of to get an A.
Professor Wilson was a good instructor. He doesn't assign much work. But, get ready to do a research paper. I took him and his class last spring (Spring 2024). If you look at the syllabus, he mentions some ways to get some extra credit points.
He makes the criteria for everything super clear and easy to understand. Although it's very note heavy, if you keep up with the notes you'll easily get an A. I simply wrote what he said during lectures and used them for midterms and got an A+ ! Learn to write/type fast and you'll pass. He's also very kind and easy to approach about any issues.
it's easy. Just go to classes and note down some slides and it's open book. It's an essay format but he makes it hella easy for an A
Took this professor twice, can be boring if you are not interested in art history but an easy A if you attend class as all notes are allowed on exam and exams are basically just transfering notes from lecture into another format. Lots of extra credit options and only one research paper outside notes and exams which can be easy as you choose topic.
Very easy to follow his lectures, and very clear grading instructions for tests and papers.
Nice professor. He's on the older side but he's still got his mind. Kinda had to dip out 2 months before the class ended because of a medical emergency. Only graded by a paper, 2 midterms, and a final. Very easy grader very easy tests. Just study reasonably well, show up to class, take notes, and you'll be fine
Great instructor. I took his class in the Spring semester last year (2024). Just do the work that he assigns, and you'll get a good grade.
The worst class I have ever taken. Mark did not show up to a single class and had a sub cover for him. The exams are way too difficult and the chances of failing the class are super high. He refuses to use canvas, which makes this class even worse. Nothing shared in class can be reviewed for exams. Students are forced to purchase his newest book.
