Had ahrens for two acct classes. EXCELLENT teacher and I HIGHLY recommend taking him. if you do the homework and listen to what he suggests to study for exams, you will get an A for sure. GREAT teacher, I wish more were like him.

As far as accounting teachers go, I'd have to say Marcus Ahrens is one of the best. Most of the time he gives you study guides that are similar to past tests, and very similar to the test you'll take (so memorize the guide). He goes over the homework with the whole class before you turn it in, and he's really nice. Definitely take him if you can!

His positive attitude makes the learning environment fun and is always able to assist students. I highly recommend him as an instructor.

Im in his online accounting class and he has been great. I had all kinds of book problems and he was completely understaning. Then at midterms i checked blackboard way to late and found out i was working on the test date and he worked with me to get it moved.Ive emailed him at 12:30 at night before and he replied within a couple of minutes!

Really good at explaining the material we were covering and if you miss a class or two he is understanding and will let you make up any homework you didn't turn in. Also he let us drop our lowest test score which is always nice. I would recommend him for any Accounting class he is teaching.

Took the online version, very flexible with the due dates on the homework and quiz assignments. However, the exam times are not convenient for those who are working full time.

I knew nothing of Accounting before I had Prf. Aherns, and now I am confident enough to take the next couple of classes in the field; Mr. Aherns deserves at least half the credit. If you are going to take accounting (any class) and have a chance to have Aherns for the instructor, chose him.

Among the best instructors I have ever had. Knows Accounting down cold. I knew next to nothing of the subject before taking the class and now I am prepared for Managerial Accounting.

I thought accounting would be boring and very difficult. Mr. Ahrens made it extremely easy to grasp and he wasn't stuffy. He was fun but also down to business. I don't think I will take another accounting class unless I can have him as a teacher.

What could I say about Markus...? I've taken four classes with him, Applied, Financial, Manegerial, and VITA. He's a pro, been in the field for awhile. He imports real examples from the real business world. He's knowledgeble, clear, ettiquete, and simplifies everything and makes the material easy to understand. If you study and do the homework (so flexible with HW), you will be fine. No TRICKS in the exams, he gives a very similar copy of the exam beforehand. TAKE HIM, Never think twice!

He's a genuinely nice guy. I wasn't interested in accounting at all, but I really enjoyed this course. Lectures were effective, in class exercises were helpful in preparing for exams, and we had a review day before each test. Homework deadlines were completely flexible. I can't believe I learned this much from one course... SIMPLY A GREAT TEACHER!

Extremely helpful.He knows what he is talking about. he is full with examples, and always ready to share them. Don't make you study all the details that you won't use. He is very nice about homeworks and will always work with you to help you get through the class. I'm definitely going to take all my accounting classes outside of umsl with him!

Prof. Markus is one of the best professor whom i met last semester. I like his teaching style and he made accounting much easier than it is. Based on my experience, i suggest to take his class as well as i will take his intermediate accounting class in summer.

Professor Ahrens is the best teacher! If you attend class, you will do well. He explains the topic, then does an exercise to explain it and then has us work in small groups on more exercises. He is very easy to understand and he explains things in an easy way. He even uses baseball to explain accounting. If possible, take this guy.

His teaching is very straightforward. Everything you go over in class is exactly what your homework is and therefore is easy to follow. It would benefit you to not miss any classes so you don't miss out on the examples you go over together. He prepares you well for exams-no surprises.

Mr. Ahrens is my favorite professor so far at meremac. I have taken him two semesters and i will be taking him again in the fall for the final course of accounting. Best Accounting professor! He is so patience with every student and answer all questions that we have. The tests are very straight forward as long as you attend classes regularly there is no way you will fail the course. Review session before the exam is very helpful, the tests are usually come from the review.

Easy, fun, and up to date. Had a accounting class in california total 180 from this. He knows that our generation will use quickbooks and doesnt care about the details our parents had to learn because its no loger relivant. Homework is only worth 5% of the grade and the test are easy as all hell

Wow this guy was so cool. He is the Accounting department head so he know his stuff. Very lenient grader and he gives a couple assignments that are worth enough to help your grade if you need it. I got an A in my other accounting classes but this one was a lot about methods and ethics. Great teacher and he has GREAT visual aids.

His lectures are good and easy to sit through and learn. The grade was made up of homework, 2 test and a project, plus he gives easy extra credit.

I loved the lectures! They were easy to understand and follow, as well as up to date on information. His power points are amazing and he hands out a copy with each one so you can follow along. The expectations are clear and he makes sure that everyone is keeping up!

He is so interactive with the class, and makes sure to give plenty of examples so that every one understands. Tests are pretty easy if you attend class.

Took ACC114 online. Met him once on campus and seemed nice. Not much interaction with online class except for midterm/final exam announcements, which is about all I expect from most online courses since the whole point is to work at our own pace. Final exam was straightforward, but very difficult for me personally. Cheat sheet allowed on final exam

Great Professor! I had him for ACC100 and ACC110 and will have him again for ACC 114. He is one of those professors that takes his time to explain things and answer all your questions. The work can sometimes seem like a lot, but it is worth it because you walk away understanding the concepts. Fantastic professor! I would definitely recommend him.

Attendance is mandatory to understand the material as entire chapters are done in one class period. In addition the lectures are very informative of how to understand the material. Gives nice guided notes so their isn't a need to stop and pause the lecture.
