Great teacher, very hot but he knows it! He is just a little cocky but great to look at!

he hates the gov book so he will never test on it so you really dont have to read it, but he does go fast in hes lectures, i would get a digital recorder for his class. everything in clas lecture will be on the tests 100%.

Great teacher, class goes quick so you have to read your materials as long as you have done they work you will have no trouble passing this class. I would definitely take his class again.

He is not your average Goverment teacher. Made class very interesting and clear. He gives study guides for every test and he gives you hand-outs so you don't have to take notes.

I absolutely loved him, his lectures are not like regular lectures. He makes his classes fun and challenges you to think outside the box...He is super fine too! I would take his class again and again. This has by far been my favorite class. I made an A,his class is not difficult if you do the work and keep up! He treats you like an equal.! Kudos!!

Very interesting

Good lectures, very egotisticle he trys subtly to point out that hes all kool and stuff which isnt needed in a class, tests are very eazy, gives "learning objectives" that is pretty much a study guide for the exam's, didnt have to read the book, tests were over the lecture, group projects are ok, article reviews are kind of a joke but doable.

He was AWESOME!!! I loved his lectures even though ive always hated history classes! He was really good... as long as you go to class and pay attention to him you will do very well. Class is almost impossible to fail! And hes not to bad to look at!!!!

Professor Smith is an exceptional educator. He is articulate there for his lectures we stumualting, as well as, gratifying. At the end of the semester I was as Professor Smith would say " Thinking outside the Box"

Made class and the subject very easy. If you study for the tests from the objectives you will do very well. Intersession class was so easy, and so worth taking. Class was very intresting and I enjoyed debating topics and the fact that he challenged everyones views.

He is a fabulous prof! I had no interest in government and was actually dreading the class quite a bit. If you work the learning objectives (which he gives all of the info in lecture) you'll do fine. The article presentation was fun as was the group project. Show up for class and put forth a little effort and an A is yours.

Mark is a great professor. He made a horrible class rather interesting and entertaining. He's pretty young and knows how to teach to students. Would definitely take his classes again.

Walking into his classroom for the first time, I could feel how strict he was when he asked me, "Why weren't you in class on the first day?" His tests were extremely easy if you are present in class everyday, and he has application short answer questions in his exams. To make sure you understand both sides of an issue, he will make debates occur.

Even though some people have negative comments about M. Smith, I for one had a great time in his class and found all the information discussed in lecture to be relevant to the tests. He gives all the objectives for the entire semester in the syllabus, and so long as you complete those objectives, you will get an A.

Before taking this class I worried about it and hated that I had to take it. After having had it I now have an understanding of where I stand on certain issues that I never knew I even had an opinion on before. Mark really does a wonderful job of presenting the class notes; I never once had to read the book and I passed with an "A"!

Took this online.. Pretty easy. He makes it very clear what you have to do and if you do it, its not impossible to make an A. You get back what you put in. Nice guy, easy to get a hold of for questions.

Very arrogant and you need to attend the Supplimental Instruction but if you do that easy a the notes that you will get from S.I. will help out extremely. It leaves you time in class to understand more of his points.

Smith is awesome. I took the winter intersession and I wasn't that excited about it but after the class was over I was so mad that I only had him for two weeks that I signed up for his contemporary politics class. He gives an outline of what he expects you to learn so the book is kind of a waste of money. Tests are easy if you attend lecture. A++++

I do have to say I HATE history and this is the reason I opted for an ONLINE version of the class.It's stupid to make students drive to OCCC to take exams bc it is a "Distanced Education" course. He's VERY picky about deadlines-a 5:00pm, thing is-the assign. is sent via email and not something that has to be hand delivered.A little full of himself

He is stern but a nice guy and dose joke around. If you go to his office hours he will help you. If you don't then your on your own.

This professor is the nicest and easiest teacher ive had thus far. im upset of myself because i didnt pass the class with an A it was my fault, not his. just didnt have enough studying time. Other than that, the professor is great! I would take him again in the future!

In high school I took a gov't class but hated it. I was bored out of my mind. But professor smith actually made me happy to read about politics and gov't. and if you have questions, just go ask him. he will help.

Don't be fooled! He is a good professor but you need to do the work. I had him for Summer '07 Intersession and he knows what he teaches. Do the work, pay attention, complete the assignments, and he will give you a fair grade. If you earn it, you WILL get an A in his class.

Had him for American Federal Government. Liked his teaching so much that I immediately signed up for his Contemporary Politics class. His was the first class I took upon entering college, and he's still my favorite professor thus far. I wish he'd teach additional classes, because I really enjoyed it. He just needs to lose the group projects.

Prof Smith is amazing! His class is very entertaining, and he makes an effort to know each of his students! No matter how boring the subject, you will not get bored. I took him for intersession, but I wished i had him for 16 week semester! Its worth it!

Great teacher! Take notes, ask for help if needed. Pay attention and do the work and you will get a good grade. He is extremely fair especially if you go to him with any problem you are having. He loves students to come to his office hours. This course is a lot of work, but it is well worth it. He makes learning fun.

Very good class. He expects alot from you but it is worth it in the end. Make sure to study for the tests, big assignments will effect your grade. Plenty of papers to write and if they're not checked through the Comm Lab before then he won't except them. Work hard and you might get an A. Never used my book and still pulled off at least an B.

Professor Smith is a very fair professor. In this class you will take many pages notes per day. So be prepared to write. As long as you study your learning objects you should make a high grade. Great professor!

Not an easy A. Be prepared to study and write a few papers. He gives you a syllabus BOOK with learning objectives. If you want to pass read the objectives while he lectures so you take notes of only the important things. A paper must go to the comm lab before turning it in or he wont accept it. Attendance is important for your grade. Didnt use book

This has been one of the more difficult classes I've taken sofar. I've never been interested in government which might explain why I found it difficult. If you study the learning objectives you'll pass since he takes his exam questions from them.

Didnt use books either. A few times I looked at the reserved copy in the library. Dont waste your money. Class is not interesting, unless you like to focus on him, 30% of class involves inflating his ego. Not a bad guy, but if you want to take a serious class go with someone else.

This Professor is rigid. He is intelligent, organized, thorough, clear about his expectations for his cirriculum and does not hand out easy A's. I took his class online for the summer semester.DO NOT DO THIS unless its the only class you are going to take. I plan to take a 16 week in his classroom. EXCELLENT Professor. University level.

Prof. Smith is one of the best teachers i have ever had. He is very clear on what he expects of you. He will help you succeed but you must meet him half way. Some of the others on here say he has a large ego but i do not agree, he has work hard for what he has and deservers it. Take his class if you want to learn and be pushed.

An all around great person. He is a great teacher. He not only gets the class involved, but he also challenges his students to perform to the best of their abilities. I had professor Smith for an online class and it was awesome!! He was very helpful and met with me to make sure my learning objectives were good. Definitely the best professor I've had in college so far. His class makes sense, and while he does grade harshly, I found the tests much easier than I thought I would, and I easily got an A. He made the material fascinating, and he encourages discussion. Just work hard and attend all the classes (you'll need notes), and you'll get a good grade.

Great teacher! I just finished his intersession class. You work hard, but he makes it fun. He gives you a very detailed syllabus. I had 3 writing papers - 1 with brief presentation, group debate, five 4 question quizzes, and 2 45 question exams. He flat out tells you what to know for the test in his syllabus. Easy A if you put in the effort.

GREAT TEACHER!! Plus ladies he is some good eye candy so make class interesting! More importantly he makes you learn government which is hard for many. Just be open minded about EVERY issue. I took the 8 week online summer class. Mr. Smith clearly identified exactly what he expected from his class and due dates of all assignments.The tests were given at the campus. Definately used the book! I feel that this professor was fair. If you don't study the learning obj's you won't do well. If you study and do the papers you will do well!

I just took his intercession class and it was pretty interesting. He is a very straight and understanding professor. You have to attend lectures on a regular basis and do all your assignements if you want to pass. If you're up for some challenge he is definetly your man!

This is not a blow off class. However, you'll get your money's worth of learning. Some parts of the class are hard; we had several papers, quizzes, and tests. The group project was also challenging. I was never bored in class though, because he keeps things interesting. It's important to show up and take notes.

Awesome Professor

Actually he LOVES his job and I can tell he loves Political Science. He is very helpful and as long as you are focused and study your material, then you should have no problem making a good grade in his class. He is very funny and makes lecture interesting and fun, instead of boring and dull like most professors, nothing grumpy about him at all.

I really enjoyed this class. I was thoroughly engaged and like his teaching style. As long as you take notes and study then you should get a good grade. Unlike how he allowed us to have discussions and get involved in lecture.

Such a good teacher, second class with him. He wants you to learn and welcomes questions of all kinds. Intimidating at times, but really wants you to succeed as long as you do as well. Definitely put in the work and he'll acknowledge and appreciate it and work with you if you ask.

Don't understand some of the negative posts regarding Dr. Smith's online course. I thought he provided us with everything to be extremely successful. He offered extra credit to help us in case we did not do well on the exams. Also gave us learning objectives which were questions that were on the exams. Easy A if you apply yourself.

I took Dr. Smith's Government at UCO and didn't do so great my first attempt at it but took it again and passed with a B. He comes off a little cocky at the start but turns out to be a great teacher. I never used my text book because all you need comes from your syllabus and your notes. Attendance is mandatory but it is worth it. I loved him!

Online course has a very heavy workload. Assignments are interesting and are meant to get the student engaged in the topic. Professor outlines everything on the test in a study guide so make sure you take the time to complete it. Email response times were typically better than average. As long as you dedicate the time needed class is great!

Dr. Smith is an amazing professor. I took the 10 day intercession class, and at the begging of the class he expressed to us the difficulty of the class, but that he will go out of his way for us/made a promise to us that he would NOT give up on us! He lays out everything is very clear bullet points while taking notes so that we can only succeed.

Professor Smith is very professional and he is a good teacher. He expects a lot from you and is there when you need him. However he will call you out and embarrass you in class if he feels the need. Do not skip class without a doctor's note and do not hand an assignment in late. He will eat you alive.

He was probably one of the best professors I've ever had. He grades fairly, and if you have any questions he's there to answer them. He doesn't test over material not covered. Let me start off with, VERY good looking. Overall a great professor. Very encouraging especially with voting. He completely changed my view on politics. He is very tough on the group moot projects but follow the instructions to the letter, don't be late and you will learn so much about how a court works! Have to say it was my favorite class!!!

Professor M. Smith is very knowledgeable and most of the time nice. However you will see his dark side if you don't do your work. I took his American Government class and overall it was good. Take notes and study them or you won't pass the exams. Also you'll be writing so many papers like if it was an English class. Don't buy the book never used it

I was dreading this class at first, but it ended up being my favorite class! Dr. Smith gives amazing lectures that keep you awake and interested! Literally all that you are required to do is mapped out in full detail for you in the syllabus, pay attention and study and you'll do great. Don't need to buy the book though, i didn't use it once.

I never thought that I have to pay so much attention for this class. But I made friends by the group project and I learned a lot about Government. He is a funny guys, ready to laugh. He is a tough professor but you will learn a lot (about how to write a good essay).

I love dr smith the first week for to he comes off very strong but he's actually really nice and funny as long as you follow his guidelines for hw your fine you have to write two paper and have a big group project but the test are really easy he made government a fun class

This was a very easy A. The study guide matched the test questions. The writing assignments are easy. You'll have 3 tests, 2 major papers and weekly homework. You need a book, but you don't have to read a lot.

This guy will not waste your time with busy work, and he's very up front about it. I never felt too bogged down in this class, and it was easy to work ahead if I wanted to. I learned a ton even though most of it was self-taught. He's a great professor to take and very accessible outside of the classroom. Quick and easy grader.

At first I was intimidated at the overwhelming amount of material to read in the introduction and syllabus but as the course went on, it is evident that Dr. Smith is simply setting you up to succeed. Easiest Federal Gov't class and a lot of fun. He makes you apply what you are learning to what is going on in the world. Highly recommend!

Great professor. He gives great lectures! Good class discussions Everything you need to know is in the syllabus. Learning objectives directly correlate with what is on the test. The group project was my least favorite aspect, he's very serious with deadlines. It was too stressful. He's cocky, harps on us for being late but cancelled class 4 times.

One word of advice. READ ALL OF THE INSTRUCTIONS about how to write papers in the syllabus. If you miss one thing, youll get half credit. BUT, as long as you just do what the syllabus asks (which isnt very difficult), youll get an A on everything.

Dr. Smith is very prepared for his students. Everything is laid out for them at the very beginning. You will know exactly what he expects out of his students. Prof Smith is an amazing lecturer who is caring and inspirational. Federal Government is a class that is required for any major and most student are not interested. Once you attend Prof Smith class youve come passionate and his teaching style makes the learning fun and interesting. I learnt so much and the group project bonded students .

Dr. Smith wants his students to pass. He had great instructions and BE SURE TO FOLLOW ALL OF THEM. If you follow all of his instructions, do the learning objectives and study them for tests you will pass that portion. Follow his exact instructions for his papers and posts and you will do well. He teaches a boring subject, but his lectures are pretty interesting. Read the syllabus and instructions carefully, very carefully. He isn't very forgiving when you mess up, but gives you information to not mess up. Just do exactly as he says, and you'll get an A. Also, he cancelled class 6 times.

He was definitely one of the best professors I've ever had. He made politics class fun and made us involved into his lectures. Besides, as long as you follow all the instructions and put some effort into your papers, you'll get an easy A. His tests are pretty simple as well, everything is in the learning objectives.

Dr. Smith is really awesome, even if he may look intimidating. Hes really strict about attendance especially during the group project. Really chill if you get on his good side. He forgot to give us quizzes for my class, so he took those off the final grade. Also, he cancelled class about five times, which resulted in a stupidly easy final exam.

Hes really great, you will actually learn in this class. He wants you to succee if you want to succeed.

Markus Smith is a good teacher. ALWAYS come to class. Put effort into your essays. Everything on the test is from the Learning Objectives that is in the Syllabus. We missed class about 5 times, so our final was 10 questions. What helped my grade was the 2.22% attendance bonus. Miss less than 3 days the whole semester and you get that bonus.

One of the best professors I have had so far. He truly cares about teaching and although he has several writing assignments, and is picky with his requirements, it was worth it. He makes class fun and interesting. He makes sure you learn the material rather than just memorizing it. He is also very good at getting to know his all of his students.

I took Government with Prof. Smith, and it was great! The class consisted of 3 units, and each unit had 3 quizzes and an exam. Along with the quizzes/exams, there are two major writing assignments; however you receive an "A" for having the word count. Also, there are several opportunities for extra credit. Would definitely take his class again!

Was an amazing class! Although online, Mr. Smith was true to his syllabus. Had to read chapters every week, but wasn't hard if you put forth the effort to read. Only 3 unit tests, couple assignments, chapter quizzes, and no final, which was amazing! I already had a high A, but doing all the extra credit boosted me an extra 5%. Totally recommend!

Dr. Smith is an amazing professor. I like the fact that the grades in his class are not dependent on test. The class consisted of 2 papers, 3 unit test, 9 weekly quizzes, and had 4 extra credit opportunities. The test were a bit on the harder side but nothing unmanageable. I would definitely recommend him if you are taking political science!

This was my first online class during the summer and it was so easy and laid back. He is solely based on 10 question quizzes that are very easy. Plus it's open note and you can take it twice :). You only have 2 papers to write the whole time and he's a lenient grader. The exams are pretty easy and you get a lot of extra credit which is great.

I wish I ended up taking this class on campus, you can tell Dr. Smith cares about his students and that they succeed. The homework questions are the quiz/test questions but as long as you read the chapter you were able to find the answers and do well on the test. He also had discussions that you had to relate to the textbook and news article.

Dr.Markus Smith not only was he a very informative and knowledgeable professor but he also provided interest in students as a whole. Finished government and will take political theory with him as well. I would take as many classes with him before he retires.

Pretty good professor, at times he would over exaggerate a bit, but overall pretty good.

Dr. Smith is one of the most respectful and caring professors I've had so far. Dr. Smith treats us like family and cares for us inside the classroom and out! This is the professor you want to take for Political Science. Job well done, Dr. Smith!

This is literally one of the best professors I've ever had. The class was set up very simple to fit my schedule. The lectures are easy and short. The quizzes and exams are open book which made everything so easy. He offered multiple extra credit assignments which helped boost my grade to a 100.80%. 10/10 would recommend him and would retake him!!!

Work must be done on Monday each week. You are constantly a week behind. He expects 40-70 pages of deep reading, detailed HW questions, and quizzes. There is also a research paper. You will have to pick and choose which assignments you do well on. Do not take this class in 8 weeks! 16 is great. You will learn more with a lighter weekly workload.

Dr Markus Smith i've heard isn't the best in person but online he was grade! This previous semester I took him online for american federal government and learned so much without being drowned in work. He is not a tough grader as long as you do the work. 100% would take him again.

Dr. Smith is truly amazing. I would say participation is necessary, but I missed a lecture or two in an eight week and still ended with an A. Its no struggle to keep up as long as you sit with the material some. The tests are clear and the lectures are concise. He truly wants all go his students to succeed. I can't recommend Dr. Smith enough!

His online course was awesome—I couldn't complain. His work was straightforward, and I appreciated his organization on Moodle. It was easy to navigate, and I highly recommend his class. I once reached out with a question, but the answer was on Moodle—I just wasn't looking hard enough. His lectures and slides were very helpful for test prep.

From my experience with the online 8-week Gov. course with Dr. Smith, I can say that he is an excellent professor. I took this course as a high schooler, and I can say that Dr. Smith made learning political science into something I enjoyed. A lot of reading, but still really a really fun class with a professor passionate about helping the youth.

His course is very easy if you are on top of your stuff. At first, it may not be very comforting, but he really pushes you to be a better version of yourself, and I would absolutely retake his class because of how he manages his class, and his energy and aura just pulls you in.

This guy really makes learning fun. He is easy to talk to and makes you feel like family in his class room.

Professor Smith has basic high standards that he does not budge on: be in class on time and turn your assignments in on time, no exceptions. If you meet those standards, he will bend over backwards to make you pass this class. He went overboard to help students who met his basic high standards. Loves to talk about himself, but overall great class.

He was by far my easiest teacher. I never made lower than a B on any of my test and assignments. At first the syllabus makes his class seem overwhelming but it is very informative and I never had to email with any questions because everything i needed to know was on there. His online class was very easy and I would take again.

I took his class online, he was amazing! If you are able to not procrastinate and finish your work in a timely manner it will be super easy. Just make sure you study before the quizzes and tests!

Recently took this class as a concurrent student SUCH AN EASY CLASS. This professor was the best out of my early start on college 10/10 recommend only had two writing assignments but you do read a bit not so much though.

This class was super chill. He doesn't assign busy work each week you have 10 question quizzes and then an exam every so often. You do have to write 2 papers but they weren't hard at all. He offers a lot of extra credit as well. Overall this is a hard class to not pass.

BE ON TIME OR EARLY. I took his in-person class. I would take it again. He is very clear. about what he wants and really likes to see participation. As long as you are on time, follow the syllabus, and turn in your work on time you will pass. He absolutely doesn't allow work and will rarely let people get extra credit. Take notes!
