Professor Johnston totally ROCKS! So happy I failed HS Psych:)

GREAT CLASS, EASY EXAMS, THE CURVES ARE A MAJOR PLUS, & PROF. JOHNSTON IS A GREAT & WONDERFUL PROFESSOR.

I wasn't sure how much I'd enjoy psychology before I took this course, but I must say that Marla made the class fun and interesting!

i thought i had some great teachers in high school. mrs. Johnston proved me wrong. she is a wonderful teacher. cool exams, cool talk times, very clear, you can learn alot from her.

Bottom line, the comment below needs to take himself back to high school. She can't make it any easier to understand. Super fair test. Yes it's a 3 hour lecture, but we signed up for that! If you need Psych 101, TAKE HER 10000%%% Doesn't get better!

Don't need the textbook, just take the notes from the overhead. EASY A. This isn't rocket science people. All multiple choice and she curves... did i mention EEAASSSYYY!!! She is a sweetheart 100% . I'd take her again anytime... not to mention..... I'm not sure what it is... but she's kinda hot...

Don't really need the textbook if you take notes in class. Just study the notes and the tests are very fair and easy. Johnston is a great professor and recommend her for everyone. You'll learn alot and get an easy A as long as you study

Professor Johnston was a very well organized, eager professor who made her classes very interesting with stories and for a 9:00 in the morning class I enjoyed it a lot and she is one of my most memorable professors and i would highly recommend her hands down!

Very good teacher! alot of notes that were easy to understand, she has good stories to relate to the information that make it easier to understand! I liked her alot and would take her again.

She's a great professor. She gives a lot of notes. Her notes dont cover all of the test. Do read the chapters. She talks about her three girls and her son a lot. By using them as examples to the work. Which is helpful. You will find one of the chapters exciting. Come to class and participate. She gives curves on her tests. Would recommended!!! Nice

She makes child psychology harder than it should be. She gives too many notes and wants us to read the textbook. She goes on and on about her kids and even brings them to class.If your a guy, definitely take child psychology because you can look at all the HOT GIRLS in the classroom when she teaches because very few guys take child psychology.

Very nice teacher, has alot of stories about her kids. she gives alot of notes which she makes common sense but the tests are extremely hard..you have to read the text book if you want to pass with a good grade.

Very nice professor. Always in a cheerful mood. A lot of notes, she NEVER uses the textbook. She only says to refer to the textbook, which you don't need to do because there is a huge load of notes that you have to take which she probably got out of the textbook. Save some money don't buy the textbook. Pay attention in class. Easy B.

Ask for a review sheet and hope that she curves the tests, then you'll you end up with an A like I did.

Straight forward teaching.If you take her class at 8am and come any later you're late. The textbook is your best friend. The tests were a combination of notes and textbook. Don't slack like i did because it was psych 101..it can be a bit tough if you don't keep up

She is great, dont be late to class or miss a class it will def help you with your grade, the txt book is a must she u have to read it and study ur notes, as long as you keep on tract you'll do great, she uses her kids in examples all the time but she's great.. i recommend her, if you show that ur trying she will help you out.

She was great, easy and learned a lot of interesting things in class. You take 5 tests through out semester 50Q. No final or projects. Tests are easy and fair, questions are in the text book. and she used a lot of powerpoints.. ( if you dont like taking notes you'll hate this class) .. I would recommend taking her, easy class

I took her for child development shes really nice but gives alot of notes and you HAVE TO read the textbook in order to do well on the exam! Attendance is mandatory she take attendance exactly when class starts then mark uu late if you come after that and marks if you leave early. Exams are fair though 50 multiple choice based on her notes/textbook

Be on time, no joke. Tests are the notes. Refers to the textbooks. No papers just 4 tests. LOTS of notes so if you don't like taking notes she is not for you. Nice lady

As everyone is saying lots of notes. All test are 50 Questions. 5 total test, she drops lowest grade. Take attendance soon as class start, anytime after that your marked late. Exams are easy read book and notes. Great class learned a lot. Her teaching and stories made the time go fast.

Loved her she took a personal intrest in evary student makeing sure evaryone passed her class. She is one of the reasonsi want to become a psychologist :)

What a great professor! Gives lots of notes off projector, but I didn't mind. She is such a sweetheart and shares personal stories which were funny and made me like her more. Really enjoyed the class. Thought about becoming a psych major because of it! Study your notes and skim through the textbook and you'll be fine. Gives extra credit, too.

very nice lady and class is interesting. lots of notes though. my only complaint is that the class before a test, instead of review, she just starts another chapter that isn't on the test. its confusing, i hate when teachers do this.

Yes, some questions on the exams require textbook and yes, she gives a lot of notes. But who cares! Everything she does is to benefit the student, so Idk why everyone keeps complaining about the notes. She does an excellent job breaking down the chapters for you. I don't understand why half the class by the end of the semester dropped.

She is an amazing teacher! Her stories about her kids make the class relatable to everyday life. I took this class as a winter session class, but if I went to Farmingdale, I would definitely take another one of her classes.

Dr. Johnston is such a sweetheart. You need the textbook for this class if you want to do well since some of the questions on the tests come from the textbook. She gives extra credit the class before the test and she also curves a bit if the question was "bad". You will be writing lots of notes and most of the definitions she covers are on the test

Lots of notes, very very strict about latenesses and absences.. Will lose half a letter grade for it, tests are a guessing game (no test reviews, and a lot of questions come from the book, you HAVE to read it). No papers, quizzes, or homework though. Not so bad if you have the time to read all the chapters but I really think there should be reviews

Take this class! Very interesting and she takes her time going through all the slides! there is alot of note taking but everything is VERY relevant for her tests! Textbook is needed to get an A. Basically take good notes and read textbook and you can easily get an A.She also gave out TONS of extra credit!

Wonderful Professor made Child Development very interesting the entire semester very pleasant to be around gave examples for everything using real life scenarios she gives alot of notes so a laptop would be recommended but everything she gives is relevant to the test gives plenty opportunities for extra credit, Just a beautiful person!

PowerPoint notes, says she's going to go through them fast, but gives a lot of time for copying. Drops lowest grade. Curves every test! Gives extra credit and explains every topic well, using examples you will remember. Overall great professor, definitely recommend!

Loved her! Yes, you get a handful of notes but they come sooo in handy for her exams. If you study your notes, you'll pass. And yes, she takes attendance on the dot but it honestly wasn't a problem for me. If you don't like getting up early, take her class at a later time. 10/10 Rating!

I took professor Johnston for 2 semesters so far. She is a great and knowledgeable teacher. She keeps her lectures and notes entertaining with stories about her family and life experiences. I would take her for all my classes if i could. Also, she curves every test and always offers extra credit. By far my favorite two college classes.

You have to take a lot of notes so if you dont like notes don't take her. She is so nice and there is a pot of extra credit options. I really liked her cause she made it fun and her slides weren't boring at all. The tests are a little hard just because theres 50 questions and the questions can get confusing. I would recommend her though.

Very nice lady. Only complaints are that you take notes off the projector every single day, and the tests were sort of difficult. Research paper is mandatory and if you put effort in, it is a great way to boost your grade. I would recommend her to others, as long as you're willing to put in the work.

Prof Johnston challenges her students wile concurrently encouraging them on a academic and even personal level. She went the extra mile to ensure that I knew she cared about me and that is something I can really appreciate. As long as you care about the class half as much as she does, you will do fine in this class. Very highly recommended.

Only need textbook to get definitions of terms she doesn't give in lecture, i borrowed it from the library before the exams. Lots of notes but not difficult, just read them and the tests are fairly easy. She also drops lowest exam grade, or exempts you from final if you have an A. Loved her overall, especially her stories about her kids.

Just read the notes in class AND the text book and it's an easy A. Plus, she gives extra credit opportunities. Would gladly take her again.

She is a very down to earth professor. She understands what its like to be a college student so she tries to not give you an immense work load. Extra credit on every test, plays jeopardy review the day before a test. She gives personal examples of the material your learning so you understand better. Talks about her ex ALOT. LOVE HER. She has amazing PowerPoints which don't have blocks of texts written buy are actually intruiging. She shows ted talks and other videos which are always interesting. She is nice and I taken her twice for psych courses. You need to read the textbook because her lectures don't cover everything that's on the exam. Johnston is a great teacher, however her exams are tough. Lots of trick questions and not for amateurs test takers. I would study vigoriously and never got over a 85 on the exams.

Absolutely love her! I have taken her two times in a row now, and I would definitely take her again in a heart beat! She is the kindest, funniest, and most genuine professor I have met yet. Easy grader, gives extra credit, gives you good feedback. Take her if you get a chance!

Awesome Professor. The class was very interesting. She's very funny and uses her life experiences to help teach the class. Her tests are straight forward. There are a lot of notes however she doesn't make you take them as long as you email her she will post them on blackboard. Overall would love to take this class again.

She is a very wonderful teacher, she will help clear anything up for you if you are confused. She makes class a bit more interesting to keep your attention as well. Her tests cover a lot of material in the chapter and the tests are about 50-60 questions. The tests are fairly tough but if you study you will be fine. Another plus, No homework.

One of my favorite teachers ever. I had her for one class previously, and she is so funny, downto earth and extremely helpful. If you study and put in even a little bit of time you will do well in her class.

I really enjoyed the lectures. They were so interesting. She really knows what she's talking about. She is also very sweet and tries to help in anyway she can. However, the tests are tough.. NOT impossible by any means but tough. But then again child development isn't very easy to begin with. Take her but get ready to study hard its worth it!!

I took this class as a summer class and is the only class I've ever taken at Farmingdale and Professor Johnston was kind and it was clear she really cares about her students. Dr. Johnston is great! Makes class so enjoyable with her humor. Makes lecture's so interesting, and relates the material to real life situations. 3 very easy writing assignments, 4 tests. Although, her tests are DIFFICULT. Studying is a must, the questions are tricky. Her personality is great, try to take her for every psych course you can.

Great! Kind, funny & intelligent. Lectures in a way that doesn't make it feel so much like class, & makes the material relatable with great stories & examples. No hw, 4 exams & a final. Difficult exams and some tricky questions/answers, but doable. MUST study & READ THE TXTBK -- material from it will be on the test that isn't discussed in class!

Professor Johnston is my absolute favorite ever. I am so sad I have taken all of her classes and will not have her as a professor anymore. She loves her job and it shows. She is thorough when she lectures, she is a very fair grader on exams, and extra credit is always available. HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend her.

Enjoyed this class. She was funny and knowledgeable! Posts slides after she finishes going over them. Tests are sometimes a little tricky but all the information was in the slides and textbook summaries so as long as you syudy you'll be fine! I recommend her

Dr. Johnston is amazing professor who truly cares about her students. She allows you do redo the first couple of discussion posts for a higher grade, her grading system is pretty clear and there are only two exams for the whole semester. If you read the textbook and watch the lectures this class is an easy A.

This professor is amazing to have if you ever get the chance. There is no homework but there is a paper due at the end of the semester and four tests. Other than that she has nice slides and posts them once she's done. She is quick to respond to emails and she drops your lowest tests score. Great professor and interesting class.

She's a fantastic professor; she's accessible outside of class, makes lectures interesting. She relates the content to our daily lives, making it easier to understand the content. Although she only assigns four tests and one final paper; so be ready to write and read a lot. She also drops one test grade. It is worth taking her.

She is really nice and caring. She as well, puts curves on most of her exams and if you actually study the tests aren't bad at all. She also doesn't give any homework which is amazing. You have a fictional child paper due at the end of the semester and if you do it in chunks throughout the semester like she recommends its not too bad.

Great professor, had her for Winter Intersession. There were discussions due every day that were (I thought) hard to get a 20/20 on. I usually got 18s or 19s. Otherwise I enjoyed this class. There was also a 10 page paper but it was writing a story while incorporating psychology terms into the paper which was actually pretty fun :)

Highly recommend taking a course with this professor if you have the chance. She clearly cares about her students & wants us to succeed. Her jokes & puns keep the class engaging & fun. Tests aren't bad if you prep for them, & she's a pretty generous grader who curves. She's super communicative & available to listen to your needs & help how she can.

I loved this class. Was it hard? A little, but it should be a little challenging. Prof Johnston seems to really care. Show up to class on time, listen, and read the text book and you will be fine. You MUST read in this class but the text book is a pretty easy read. Take her advice and do the paper as you go along- do not wait like I did, my bad.
