Great class. She is SO funny! Good information, too. You have to take TONS of notes though.

Awesome. Freaking awesome. She was a great teacher, and the lectures were well done, clear, and simple. Her class objectives and assignments were well laid out and easy to understand. I really enjoyed the class, and would reccomend it to anyone.
Nice class. Good instructor. Tricky on the exam questions. Pay attention to wording.
AWESOME teacher!!!
Looks and acts like SNL's Tina Fey. A great teacher that loves her topic and knows it well, made summer school bearable!
So cool and funny she DOES act like Tina Fey or whatever from SNL

Easy class (A), never studied or read. Amusing lectures. Yeah, she is a Tina Fey replica. Highly recommended, learned alot without screwing up my other classes.
I took her years ago at fullerton college and she was one of the best teachers I had, you are lucky to have her at your school.
Great teacher had her at fullerton college you are lucky to have her as a teacher
marla prochnow's anthropology 11 course was one of the most entertaining classes i've ever taken because she is so animated. she reminds me of Tina Fey from SNL. very fun and easy. little work throughout the semester. almost impossible to get a bad grade. a must take.
She is a GREAT teacher. i enjoyed her personality a lot, and she made class fly by. There is no homework, except for a project, and she only has 4 tests total. Great class!
My easiest college course. I would strongly suggest anyone who is interested in science find an alternative teacher. She delights in making the more intelligent students look dumb, for knowing more than the required material. She discourages knowledge but she'll love you if you laugh at her jokes. You won't learn much but attend class and get an A.
This professor is ethnocentric and biased. Get used to sarcasm. Watch out for wording. Didn't really learned anything I could have on my own. Rants out sometimes. Her notes suck. You need the book. If you can't afford it (I didn't), you're screwed. Helpful if you ask. Other than that, she's aight; and she gives extra credit.
She is amazing, has a dry sense of humor but i found it hilarious.
She's habitually late and has a tendency to get on a soap box about certain issues, but overall fairly entertaining and a decent prof.
aweomse, i always recommend her class, youll learn something
If offered to do the 5-part project, DO IT! It's so easy, and lets you fail or skip a test. She's kinda quirky, fun as hell. If you need help and aren't hopeless she'll help you. I learned a lot in her class, and it wasn't hard to get an A. I barely used the book.
If you're a good test taker this class is for you. Your whole grade is based on four exams. That's it. No homework, no chances to earn extra points. She doesn't keep track of attendance or have in class assignments either. She lectures and you take exams, that's all. Personally, I didn't like the class.
She's very fun! No homework, only 4 exams, and a chance for 10 extra credit points. She IS like Tina Fey, very dry humored. I find it hilarious. You really don't have to go to class because she puts her lecture notes on blackboard, but I find the material sticks better if you attend and listen to her lecture. I'd definitely recommend her.
go to class, right down the notes, and you'll do fine on the test. I never opened the book and got B's on all my tests. Very funny, makes class fun and interesting.
4 tests and that is your grade. 2 or 3 extra credit projects that perhaps help you raise your grade a little. Very fair professor on how she presents the material and prepares the exams. Exams are not tricky, but you do have to study for a good grade. She teaches for different learning styles. She's very interesting and funny!
Great class....I learned a lot from her class. She made it fun and interesting. She's always available to help you when you need it!!
She goes off subject too much during lecture. The class is just based on four test. Half of the material on the study guides are not even on the tests. she doesnt give homework or any in class work to help with your grade. I would not recommend her.
She is the most helpful, dedicated, intresting, and funny professor i've come across. She can get u interested in it even if u have no idea what it was before u started the class and by the end u wanna know more. shes willing to put in her own time to help students achieve the best grade possible. tests are pretty easy based on her notes.
I didn't care for the course. It was very confusing and difficult. But she was a great teacher. She was hysterically funny and was so willing to work with me constantly to insure I could get a passing grade in her course. Don't take her if you struggle with science but otherwise your bound for a great time. She's great!
Take good notes in her classes! Super funny and super approachable too. She's there for the students when needed. I HIGHLY recommend her.
I really enjoyed the class. however i took the 3 hours one day class, so it so I would recommend the 3 day a week class. Other than that she is funny, tells sorties, and makes it easy to learn.
One of my all time favorite teachers. She's hilarious. Great personality, very helpful. I needed help/suggestions for a class project i had to do for a totally different class and she was glad to help, and even offered to t me borrow some of her books. You cant find many teachers better than Prochnow.
SHE IS AHHHHHMAZING!!! Take her class if you need Anthropology! You won't regret it!
Great teacher and very entertaining. I didn't think I was going to like Anthropology but I was wrong. She gives you study guides, and you need to study. I used flash cards and it did the job to get an A. She gives you some extra credit enough to bump up one grade level. Exam questions are not trick and straight forward if you study.
Had so much fun and learned so much in ANTH 11, I had to take her again for ANTH 10. Super approachable, helpful and funny.
Shes funny gives many examples from text and life. no hw make sure yu read the chapts. she gives review page on wat to study most and uploads powerpoints shes used that day onto blackboard. i went into clas like greeeat another class now its the class i look forward to most
She is very funny, makes the material interesting.
Class was very fun. Mrs. Prochnow has a talent for getting important information to stick in your head via use of humor and satire. I thoroughly enjoyed this class, and I am glad I had to take it as part of my general ed. Class atmosphere was one of learning, btu also of a lot of fun
Took her for both ANTH 10 & 11, liked them both. She's a cool lady. I always looked forward to class, she's definitely an engaging teacher. The class is NOT hard. No homework, just a few tests and e.c. and that makes up your grade. For me, studying was minimal and I got a B. She'll make you laugh AND learn!
She was one of the most hilarious and enthusiastic professors I've ever had. I actually looked forward to going to class because I knew I'd leave in a good mood. The material was also very interesting to me, so that was a plus. There is no homework, only a few tests which makes the class easy as long as you read & go over notes & the study guides.
She is very rude and puts her students down. Her work is not hard but if you have opinions don't bother speaking out in class.
LOVED this prof. She has a sarcastic sense of humor but you get over it. She loves helping students and tries to be sensitive to different moral or cultural differences in the class. She let me tell her my opinions on subjects when she was looking for class participation. She teaches the material! and was thrilled when students come to office hours
Extremely nice teacher. Kept the lectures interesting. Posted very helpful study guides. Great class.
Very easy and interesting. She is very open-minded, smart, and funny.
She is an amazing professor! Very funny, sarcastic and witty. She makes the material interesting. She is also very nice and approachable. Notes are done off powerpoint, but she brings in lots of visual materials to help instruct with.
Incredible prof, I wish I had her for all my classes. Very helpful, detailed, and clear on what to study for the test + gives out study guides. The only time attendance was mandatory is the last few weeks of class when we studied forensic anthro (not in textbook so notes only). She makes her PowerPoints available on blackboard though.
Great teacher! She does a fabulous job with such boring material. Her jokes are hilarious and keep you intrigued! Loved her!
I loved this professor!! She makes the whole class worth going to.
offers extra credi. As long as you do your study guides and study them before the test you should do fine. Hardly any homework, most of the grade is based on the testes
SUPER EASY CLASS!Take notes(essential) on the projector fast and enjoy the never-ending jokes that spew out of this gorgeously smart woman's mouth. Got sick a couple of times and even had emergencies to where I missed quite a few classes, aced the class, but sad i missed them. Puts extra stuff online. extra credit for each exam. NO HOMEWORK! Enjoy!
She gIverson notes on PowerPoint and on blackboard. Four test worth 50 points each for the entire semester. No homework, no participation, no quizzes.
Easy class, she is great professor with a great personality, very helpful. Take notes (necessary). Extra credit offered for each exam, four exams for the semester. Enjoyed the class. No Homework
Prochnow is probably the BEST professor to ever teach at COS. Her material is clean cut it isn't confusing whatsoever, she has power points on blackboard & offers some extra credit. On top of all of this, she is hilarious! A very funny, knowledgable woman! Took both anth 10 & 11 and enjoyed them both very much. I wish she taught more classes @ COS
Attendance isn't mandatory, but she has such awesome lectures that you won't really want to miss them. You can get away with not going to class by reading and using the note outline she provides. She also gives a ton of extra credit.
Prochnow is one of the best teachers on COS campus. Her lectures are lively and engaging and you can tell she's really passionate about the subject and her job as a teacher. Tests make up almost all of your grade however besides the extra credit offered.
Dr. Prochnow was a great teacher. Lectures were entertaining and she was very funny. She helps you out with extra credit if you want it. Class was not very demanding, but l learned the material. Not a whole lot of homework. Grades were based mostly on 5 exams.
She's awesome. Never has given a boring lecture, and truly does not waste your time with repeating herself. She is very lean on attendance, and doesn't demand much out of you as a student. She's also very prompt in grading test and gives lots of opportunity for extra credit....
Gives you every chance to pass. Maximum of 25 points extra credit (5 per assignment). Easy tests as long as you listen in class and take notes on what she hints is important. Very "hip", intelligent, and funny.
Love this professor! She is so funny and gives multiple extra credit options, she is so fun and her laugh is awesome! She is a professor I am going to miss, she always keeps things interesting and always warns you before the next exam. I would take her again!
The class is really easy. Pretty much all of your grade comes from a few tests throughout the semester that you're given a study guide for. She's really funny during class and goes over pretty much everything you need to know for the test. A few questions from the tests come from the textbook, but only like one or two out of fifty.
Prochnow is the best of the best. Really passionate about Anthropology and clear about what is on the tests.
She's a great professor although her test study guide are completely different then the actual test.
Worse teacher ever. Only three tests and being a bad test taker I could have used a few extra assignments to help my grade. Her laugh is creepy and has "jokes" that are not funny at all.
Dr. Prochnow is one of the best professors at COS. She is very clear. She made the class interesting and enjoyable. She also offers a lot of extra credit that would definitely boost up you grades. Highly recommended.
Seems like a nice person. Don't care for her as a professor. Her lectures were all over the place, and long! While her test were more critical thinking, and worth a lot because that is all she grades on. No homework. She gives out extra credit but it is limited. Study guide is very general, couple phrases on a paper.
Only things that go into the grade-book are 4 tests and up to 25 pts of extra credit. Very easy, offers many tools for success in her class. Very passionate about what she is teaching and her lectures reflect that.
By far the most enthusiastic professor that I have ever had. She has a clear grading style, exams are 50 points each and there are four of them (the final is not cumulative), 25 points maximum of extra credit, and no homework. The biggest thing that I liked about Dr. P was that she knows how to put a smile on your face every class time.
This instructor was amazing please take her if you can, she will never be boring. Her tests are similar to her lectures so you have to attend the class regularly to pass. She gives you a lot of opportunities for extra credit, so take advantage of all of them.
Prochnow is a great professor IF you know how to handle her class. It took me awhile but now that I know how her class works, it is very easy. She doesn't take roll, but if you skip class you cannot get the notes unless you ask a friend for them. Make sure you have all of the notes because that is all the tests are on. The SI meetings help a lot.
She's very nice and explains very well. She also tries to include funny videos that also have to do with the notes. She is very lecture heavy.
Prof. Procknow is a great person but an okay professor. Doesnt make anthro any harder than it has to be. Teaches the textbook backwards, so the curriculum is confusing; she starts with chapters 5, 14, and 15, then you wind your way back to chapter 1. Did most of my learning outside of class w/ her study guides and the textbook. Get extra credit!!
I took this cultural class for a semester and did fairly well in it. She is very funny. She offers a lot of extra credit assignments to take advantage of. No quizzes. The tests are all multiple choice and will leave you guessing 50/50 on two answers on almost all questions because they can be tricky. Pay attention to the lecture, her voice, notes.
Had her for both cultural & bio anthropology. I laughed sooo much in her classes. She makes the subjects super interesting & gives a lot of extra credit options so take advantage of them. Dr. Prochnow alone made my experience at the school so much more amazing and I really wish I could relive the times I had in her class. I learned so much!
I don't recommend taking her for online anthropology. She always forgets to unlock assignments, is unclear about where assignments are and when they are do. The multiple choice answers that she gives are all technically right because they are said in the video. Exams are not the same as the homework.
Great and hilarious teacher! The course content and her lecture style is a bit tricky to comprehend but you get used to it. The class work consists of 4 tests and a 5 part heritage project. The tests can be hard to understand sometimes but overall very easy. Wish I couldve taken her for anthropology.
I loved Prochnow. She was essentially Tina Fey teaching me all I needed to know about Biological Anthropology. The class was beyond easy, tests were on canvas. Easy A.
Funny, nice, easy A as long as you do the work, which inst a lot.
Amazing teacher! I had her am class and I was never bored or sleepy in there! Quizzes and test are all online and open the entire 24 hours on the day its due. I learned a lot and if you do the minimum there is no reason you could fail. Must be in class for the notes those aren't online.
Dr.P has a great sense of humor. The class is an easy A if you do work.
This professor was hilarious and I always looked forward to her class. Easy A if you do the work and inquisitives
I had heard good things about this professor but she was awful She wastes so much time in class -- I was in utter shock when she took the time to show us comedy sketches instead of finishing the lecture. Sure, she's funny, but she actively took time out of our class to seem funny which hurt students during the tests.
She is so funny and cares a lot about her students! I really enjoyed her class. All of the homework is submitted online
I've taken several of Dr. Prochnow's classes in the past and enjoyed each one a lot. Not only does she do an excellent job of presenting the course material in a clear and interesting way, she also has a great sense of humor and is fun to interact with. She's definitely one of my favorite teachers. Anyone can take and enjoy one of her classes.
Marla's probably my favorite professor so far. This class was for my gen-ed and I still enjoyed it thoroughly due to her lesson plan and jokes. Also while you don't NEED to be there for class, you'll be missing out on lots for your online canvas tests. I highly recommend anyone take this professor if needed.
Her assignments were pretty easy. I appreciated how she created another discussion board for students to ask other students questions. I had a hard time with the exams but I believe it was because I did not use the book. Her exams were set for a 30 minute timer which was not easy but I did all of my work and passed.
Marla is one of the best teachers ever. Her anthropology classes are the best, very easy, and consistent structure. Her exams aren't hard, just read the notes and keep up with the InQuisitives and you'll get an A! She also leaves some funny remarks in her notes sometimes, she's hilarious
Dr. P is a tiny energetic woman, she likes to laugh and make her students laugh. She tries her best to relate to the younger generation AND she succeeds, super funny during her lectures but the homework is all on canvas so there is a lot of freedom but the work can pile on fast if you dont prioritize. Theres a lot of textbook reading.
Took her for Anth 010 and she was by far the best choice. Her exam days did catch me off guard but if you read and use notes then it should be easy. If you happen to miss a day then don't use Google because of how different the answers will be, but instead email her or a fellow student for the work of that day. She is willing to help her students.
Prochnow is hilarious, as well as showing a clear passion for her work. I would recommend attending her lectures, her stories and humor really help the material to stick in your mind.
I only had one in person class with Dr. "P", but she was very funny and relatable. Inquisitives made up the majority of my grade and there was a LOT of extra credit offered, so it was an EASY A. Only thing is that exams were challenging and she only gave us 35 minutes to complete them (each exam being ~20 questions). Also never used my textbook.
She was the most funniest professor I ever took in my entire college career. She very caring and understand that life happens. The Homework is threw an online book and you able to retake it under you score 100%. The exam are okay but they are time test. Overall very easy and interesting class !
If you fail this class it will literally be your own fault. Lots of extra credit. As long as you do all your work you should at least get a B. Loved her lectures, I would recommend attending even though it is not mandatory.
Very funny lectures and ensues that the material isn't to complex for an introductory course. A code is needed for online classwork. The class is graded out of 200 points without any weights, so you can miss 20 points max for an A. She does offer a lot of extra credit to encourage students to get involved with events at the school.
I love her! I have nothing but great things to say about her. If only I wasn't graduating, I'd take all anthropology classes with her. She is hilarious and if anyone could talk you into an anthropology degree you didn't know you wanted it would be her. She loves what she does you can tell. I learned so much and loved showing up to her lectures.
I rate her the best, Professor I never had. She understood me during tough times and helped me out. She helps you out with extra credit or if you need help she's willing to stay after class. Or by an email. She's funny, interesting, and full enthusiasm. I would take her again no problem. I rate her 100% efforts
The work was pretty clear cut and not difficult. You complete assignments online and have multiple attempts on each assignment. You have to TRY to not do well. There is plenty of extra credit opportunities, use them. Pay attention and do the work. She WANTS you to succeed... dont let her or yourself down.
She was an amazing instructor. Very easy to access outside of class, she wants you to pass. Offers lots of extra credit, very easy class. Her comments are funny, she grades quickly as well. Its hard to fail her class but she will work with you on assignments if you need. I took her class online but I wish I would have taken it in person.
Dr. Prochnow's class was really fun! She is hilarious and makes the content very easy to follow along. She mainly grades quiz, and reading responses and provides extra credit. I think the hardest part about this class was the quizzes because they are timed, and the questions are somewhat difficult if you don't study for it. Overall, great class!
Decent class/professor. The textbook chapter reading is very long but manageable considering the lenient due dates. The lectures were actually fun to read. Very simple, informative, and interactive. You're not just reading but also watching videos, looking at pictures, and she inserts interesting pieces of information here and there.
I really enjoyed taking this class. The work load was super light for an all online course and she gave a lot of extra credit which made it basically impossible to not pass this class.
I took Prof. Prochnow's course online and it was alright. It was nothing insanely hard, just try and keep up with the weekly notes/assignments or you may fall behind. She had the typical Inquizitive hw with the occasional discussion post. I did enjoy the way she designed her notes
Antho11 was super simple and easy! She offers ton of extra credit. Very few assignments. Lectures are simple and on canvas. Would take her class again or any other courses she offers.
I took the late start class and it was a very interesting class! She responds to email or messages but must schedule an appointment to meet with her, meaning office hours are not really a thing which was kind of disappointing as it is an online class. Also was hoping for more teacher interaction but once again understand as it is an online class.
While taking Anthropology 11, Dr. P made the lectures AMAZING, the exams are online, she is understanding, and she even tells interesting stories about the job sites she was at. She even offers extra credit! 10/10 would take this class with this professor.
I took both of her Anthro's this summer and they were easy and straightforward. Just be prepared for lots of reading (online and summer class duh!). You were allowed to use your notes on your exam which helped out big time. I wish I took her in person as she seemed really cool. If you want to pass anthropology, take Dr. Prochnow!
Professor Prochnow makes this class fun and easy. With lots of extra credit and lenient grading, it's hard to not get an A. Definitely take advantage of her helpful office hours and study tools like Unstuckstudy.
Super entertaining and made lectures enjoyable. Active on campus and actively takes part in creating a healthier campus environment. Very flexible and accommodating. Many extra credit opportunities.
Pretty easy. Lots of extra credit. Plenty of time given to finish assignments and quizzes. Textbook heavy.
Best teacher, shes nice, and doesn't assign a lot of work, and is very understandable and considerate of others!
Very kind, and hilarious! Helps ease the sting of cultural relativism. Does have an issue with getting to class on time, but is wonderfully chill about students being late in exchange. Used an open source textbook so no purchase required.
She gives you ever opportunity to succeed. Her exams are very difficult but you do have the extra credit if you need it. Honestly my only complaint was that she complained so much about AI. For example if you use a big word on your hw she might think it's AI.
Dr. P is known for her humor and entertaining lectures. Sometimes she explains academic concepts through jokes, innuendo, or anecdotes, which can be a bit hard to follow as an autistic student. I wouldn't change it though, it's her signature. The main subject matter is tackled very clearly and coursework is very easy.
I loved her lectures she is so funny. She does offer extra credit. There are four exams, only 25 points each. Everything on the exams are covered in the lectures.
She was compassionate and had a lot of extra credit opportunities! The only reason I wouldn't take her again is because she often disparaged Christianity and went on rants sarcastically making fun of Christianity. Most of these comments were unnecessary. I am a strong Christian. I came to learn biology not to hear hurtful comments about my faith.
Dr. Prochnow is super animated in class, and is always willing to dive deeper into a topic. She is lenient in her assignments, and her tests align closely with her lectures and review notes. She is not here to coddle you – she pushes you to think critically and understand the real world. If you ever feel insulted, talk to her – she will understand.
