I took Psy 201,202, and 203 with Marlene. She is an absolutely wonderful teacher. I highly recommend her.
Good teacher. Not too hard. Good information. Cheery for the most part.
great teacher! watch out for the gaza strip if she brings it up, just stay quiet. it may sound creepy but she auctually cares about her students and the stresses they face in other classes, very compassionate
We went in expecting a class on family relationships, instead we got an agenda about the oppressed women of the middle east. We didn't sign up for that sort of class. She seemed to care, but was off topic for way too much of the class and I have to take it again to get what I want out of it.
This class was a challenge but not hard. We had fun and learned quite a bit. She gave a good mixture of lecture, homework, and in-class participation.
Eid's just a wee bit incompetent. Her lectures are basically straight out of the textbook, and her tests are all multiple choice are taken from the textbook's website. Allows for too much digression during class discussions, and encourages foolishness in class.
I was shocked to see negative comments about Marlene. I found her to be very professional and knowledeable. If you can only regurgitate what is in the textbook instead of using your head, you might have a hard time. She requires her students to think objectivly and criticaly. As all qualtiy teachers should.

all around good teacher, learned alot in her classes

Good teacher. Lectures get a little boring though. She's really nice. Study the CD rom for tests!!!
She is very dedicated to her subject and quite knowledgeable. Lectures are interesting and informative. Tests are multiple choice but actually fairly difficult. Does not understand sarcasm or irony, so don't even try. Lots of reading from textbook, group projects and short writing assignments. Need good public speaking skills.
She did a fantastic job. Pay attention, read, and in my opinion you can't fail
Not very clear, tends to get off course fairly easy. She'll tell you many times how much she has accomplished. Her tests are not too hard. If you have another choice, I'd try to get another professor.
Eid is a WONDERFUL teacher! Her lectures are interesting and her tests arent that hard at all. Just read, go to class and you wont fail!
Puts no effort into her class, prone to rambling, not too fond of the rules of logic.
Marlene is a very good instructor and her tests and assignments are easy if you study and do your work. She is so interesting to listen to and makes you feel welcome to be in class.
Marlene is a great teacher - very knowledgeable about her subject and very clear in lectures. She is fair in grading and interesting to listen to. She can be moody, but most of the time is very kind to everyone. Definitely recommend her for any psyc. class!
Very good teacher - lectures are clear and interesting - fair grader who uses many different techniques to keep students engaged.
I wasn't particularly fond of this professor. Mainly because all the lecturing she did was completely useless on the tests. So really all you had to do was read the chapters (which are VERY lengthy) and be there to take the tests and for participation points. That's it. I don't like the fact that all her lectures were useless, means class is useles
EXCELLENT TEACHER!!!! GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT!!!
Nice lady and knows alot about the Psychology, but lectures the whole class and rarely any homework. In addition she never prepares you for test.
She is nice and has a huge amount of knowledge about psychology, but her lecture are dry and boring at times. Her schedule changes quite a bit. She never tells you what will be on the test or prepares you for them.
The class is challenging, like it should be, but she is very straight forward and as long as you attend and do the work, you can do well. She also explains the concepts rather than reading straight out of the book.
Excellent! Has extensive background in Psychology, very focused on culture and diversity. She is still excited about Psychology, which is nice for a student. Very, very highly recommended. If you can't get in her class, I'd put Psych off until you can. She is THAT good.
very good teacher, has a amazing background in psychology, with lots of knoweldge, great PROF! :)
If you go to class, it's EASILY passable... however, you can't understand a damn word she says. heavy accent. she'll talk the whole class about nothing, so if you can keep yourself entertained for the sake of an A or B... totally worth it.
Marlene is my favorite instructor at PCC. I had two courses with her and I wish I could've taken more!! I actually switched from being an English major to majoring in Psychology because of her. She is a phenomenal teacher, and a truly amazing individual. I highly reccommend her!!
Very intense woman. Great class and if you do what you're supposed to, you'll likely have an "A"
I had taken a highschool pyschology/sociology class and i had expected a level 200 class to be actually educational. It wasn't. Lots of rambles and off tangent splurts. I don't think I learned anything.. I eventually got bored of coming to class.
Loved this teacher. Really knew what she was talking about and had great relaxed classes where you can learn a thing or two. A must take if you're into psychology.
Class was up and down. Never really knew what was going on until class was almost over.
She is very intelligent women who knows her stuff. All she asks is for you to read the chapter before class. She elaborates upon the text in to real life situations. She has many group activity's that go with each chapter. There is one group present ion, two papers and three Exams. Sounds like alot, but its so interactive. I suggest her :)
Excellent teacher! While its up to you to pass the tests and read the extremely boring chapters, if you ever fall behind, she'll help you out. While it may not seem like it at first, it is actually very easy to get an A in the class. It is definitely worth having Psych with her!
She is an outstanding teacher, I will be taking the next sequence with her. If you are looking for more than a psych instructor... like a true teacher, she is it! I did not hardly have to use my book, because she is so thorough.
Excellent teaching style, always willing to answer questions that you have
She rambles too much. I expected a more focused instructor. Waste of my time.
She is not clear on the assignments or what she expects. The whole class overall did poorly on tests which she did not give clear study guides. I would not take her again. she does not post notes. The class overall just felt scattered and not organized.
Overall this was not a good class in my opinion. She was very unclear with the assignments and the tests were very difficult and confusing, very few in my class did well. I would not recommend this class.
The class is difficult but if you show up and pay attention you can get an A. I was 1 of 3 students who did get an A and I honestly didn't try that hard. Just do the work and ask questions if you get confused. She is willing to help. Also, be willing to do the work. Those who complained were those who did minimal work and expected to get an A.
RUN FAR FAR AWAY, if you could take another teacher for Psychology I suggest you do. She's rude, and hard to approach. She gives you information that doesn't even relate to or help on the exams. I took Psy215 with Brown and got an A because she was helpful. Eid on the other hand should not be teaching psychology.
the whole class seemed to hate her but i thought she was a pretty good teacher. she really knows her stuff and taught it well. she used videos, worksheets, groupwork, and real life examples in her lectures which i found to be helpful.
I love this professor!
I enjoyed other Pys classes but this one was HORRIBLE. her assignments are confusing. she is very rude! She knows her stuff but does not express it well. I did not feel comfortable asking her questions cause when I did she mad me feel well stupid. I am not big on bashing teachers. I got a A in the class but I wish I never took her as my professor.
This is not an easy A class...and it shouldn't be. But if you do the work, you get the A. Great prof, interesting assignments, you learn a lot.
I don't really like this teacher, but I don't hate her either. I'm just simply not fond of her, she sometimes does make you feel stupid for asking something because she'll repeat what she just said, as if it was a 'duh' moment. Lectures are boring, no homework, and she expects you to read very lengthy chapters to prepare for tests.
Not an easy class but i got an A. She's really great at teaching and really knows her stuff, but her assignments were confusing and her exams were hard. There's 3 exams, multiple choice, 30 questions, so if you missed more than 3 then you dont get an A. she does offer extra credit though so thats why i got my A.
This woman is absolutely the WORST professor I have ever had. She rambles constantly, makes you feel stupid for asking questions, and isn't clear on assignments and test expectations. How anyone could be giving her positive comments is beyond me.
Really wonderful- not an easy A class but totally fantastic. Readings are due first class and then discussion follows, she has some really great input with her diverse background. I think people who don't know her can see her being rude but she isn't-I think that is just a bit of a culture barrier. She cares and if you do the work its a great class
She is one of the best teachers at PCC. This class was so fun, interesting, and if you do keep up with the reading do the work their is no reason why you shouldn't get an A! She is so sweet! She compliments on your hard work constantly!
For all you cry babies out there don't plan going to a four year school because all you will do is a lot of reading and writing very long papers. Marlene is very understanding I have a learning disability and when I wasn't doing the paper right Marlene gave me help I went from 5, 7's to 9, 10's on my papers and passed the class with a B.
I ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND HER! She is one of my favorite instructor ever. At first you may think she comes off a little "rude", but she really is anything but! She is wildly intelligent, really good with not assigning too much work, and just makes the subject very interesting! You won't regret this class, and if you do your best you'll score well!
Worst teacher ever!!! Very little direction, vague assignments, never available for help, doesn't respond to emails. I am 3/4 of the way through the class and still have no idea what is going on after many attempts to talk to the teacher.
She is an amazing teacher, I found the class very entertaining and I am excited for taking another class with her this term
Great teacher!! She is very knowledgeable and SO nice! This class is not difficult as long as you listen and do the reading. The textbook is very interesting as well :D
Great teacher. She has an accent, so make sure you can understand her. Otherwise, she's awesome
Thick accent, but is understandable. LOTS of group activity in class. Requires CONNECT (online program included with textbook) but assignments online always help with the chapter tests. Tests are 20 multiple choice with bonus essay question worth up to +20% on test grade (and you can get over a 100%). No "final test" (it's over the last chapters)
Wonderful instructor! Highly recommended!
Where do I begin? This class WAS an easy A...but only because of what I have learned in other Psy classes. She is a HORRIBLE teacher. I thought maybe first term was a fluke....WRONG. She is the worst, and I would never recommend taking her classes. EVER.
Lectures were hard to follow, but she always had fun in class activities that applied to the chapter. She was a little unorganized in the beginning but got better about it. Tests were all multiple choice, but hard to study since there was no study guide but students were not doing so well on her tests she broke down and gave one out for the final.
Marlene is an excellent teacher. She highlights diversity in psychology and encourages discussion and comments during lectures. She gives the questions for the test ahead of time and chooses 1 question per section. Forewarning: Be prepared to read out of the text book on your own time
Her exams are average as long as you read the book and attend class you'll do fine! *take note: read the book, do online assignments ahead of time so that you'll practice what you have read and the online assignments are unlimited for retakes. Her example's are close to the exam questions. Awesome teacher and a FUN class.. you MUST do your part tho
She is a very nice lady, but her assignments are not clear when it comes to what she wants. It's a good idea to ask her for an example otherwise forget it. Her tests are hard to study for, but they're actually pretty easy tests. It's a good idea to take a lot of notes and when she gives you practice questions, to read over the chapters again.
She is a great instructor who incorporates class activities that will imply great examples for your exams. Reading the text ahead of time are beneficial to understanding the class lectures. She is somewhat quick at responding to your e-mails. Exams are "short" essay in which she will hand out the questions a week in advance of the exam date.
I grew to like Marlene very much. She knows exactly what shes talking about and loves when you ask questions. In fact, the more questions you ask, the more interesting the lecture will become. Only downside lots of reading. If you do the weekly chapter Qs correctly they should take a couple hours but then you wont need to study as much.
She is not a good teacher. Lectures have nothing to do with quizzes, she never told our class when the first quiz was, rude to people when they ask questions, NEVER responds to emails, doesn't teach, just expects you to read textbook, syllabus and ppts aren't clear, overall a very bad experience and a mostly self-taught class.
Marlene was great. She does assign homework so be ready for that, but really it just helps prepare you for the exams. She uses power point presentations most of the time but also gives group activities and makes the class very interactive. She knows the subject matter extremely well and you can tell she loves the subject.
shes great. if you just do the assigned work and show up to class you get at least a b. I've taken her twice, one for 201 and another for 202. oh and wait to get an online book, it is cheaper and you hardly ever use the physical book because half the homework is online. trust me.
Part 2 was more lecture heavy than the first class which sometimes meant the class would just carry on but you were totally zoned out. But she knows what she's talking about and the textbook covers any gaps. 2 assignments a week but it's easy and spaced out so there is plenty of time to work on it.
Marlene is passionate about what she teaches, and it definitely shows through. I was fully engaged the entire term and never wanted to miss a lecture.
She is a great teacher and she is very patient and kind to people. I would definitely recommend her and she does not have heavy accent. English is my second language and I was worried about accent and it was not a problem at all. I got a lot from this class. There were quizzes every week which was tiring but helpful. I like the book and connection.
This class was an easy A. There were online assignments due each week, along with a quiz in class (but we went over the answers in class beforehand). Marlene definitely cares about psychology and knew what she was talking about. For the most part it was an interesting class, just lots of reading.
You read a chapter off the book every week. She gives you 4-5 questions as homework based on what you read, due every Thursday. Online quizzes every Saturday based on each chapter. Her lectures are very informative and she explains everything in detail for you to understand the material.
Marlene is a great professor. Shes been very helpful in and outside of class. Whats covered in class will help with assigned homework. The exams arent challenging, the homework was not bad at all, and neither were the online assignments. Very kind and patient person.
She repeats herself a TON. She has almost no sense of humor. She doesn't give feedback on tests, and her lecture as super super boring. It's also super easy to so well in her class.
Professor Eid was a good teacher with a very clear, fair, and easy grading criteria. My only complaint is that her lectures are extremely dry and can run on. If you are a visual or kinesthetic learner you may not find her to be as good of a fit for you, but overall her class is extremely manageable and easy.
Marlene is amazing she is funny and super nice, I enjoyed this class a lot and look forward to taking the second half from her in the Fall
Hard to understand. Didnt explain the layout for the term well and wasnt the best at staying organized. Her syllabus was confusing and youll have a lot of text reading plus extra outside readings.
Unclear instructions on tests, and reading questions Introductory class week 3 expecting way too much with way too little clarity in questions. Asks vague questionA looking for detailed answers
I took Marlene for both 201 and 202 and she was a great instructor. Her grading criteria was clear, homework was super easy, quizzes were always a question from the homework, exams were short and simple but you do have to study! Not a lot but its necessary if you want a good grade. Shes understanding and seems like she cares about her students.
Great Professor. My PSY201 class was lecture based with weekly homework that was time consuming, but easy to accomplish. Layout is simple and easy to follow. If you pay attention and do the homework you'll get an A. Professor Eid is very passionate and knowledgeable about what she teaches and is interesting to listen to. I absolutely recommend her
She's not a good teacher. Spends too much time lecturing and not enough time explaining homework or helping us understand what she is trying to say. Very confusing and a not very caring person. No study guide for test and just expects you to know everything.
She provides feedback in sound bytes, which I thought was really cool for an online class, and makes it a bit more personal. It makes it feel like she actually cares about your learning. Her HW questions were unclear how she wanted them formatted. You have to be very detail oriented and hit every point or you don't get a good grade.
GREAT Professor. So easy. I HIGHLY recommend you take it ONLINE. No tests, only group discussions about a 30 min. video, narrative-style 1 pg. HW assignments (30 minutes), and textbook CONNECT assignments every week (50 minutes). I didn't even read the textbook. Buy it online and you can do keyword searches. I got 100% on almost every assignment.
Shouldn't a psychology teacher teach mainly psychology? At least half of her assignments this term are on vaccine and autism controversy. What does that have to do with psychology? Also, the links she's given for this topic are very one sided and most of them are poorly written and barely reviewed. That doesn't even let you to learn from both sides
Are you serious? I am paying for a psychology class that is 40% about vaccines and autism. Every class is a lecture and makes me want to fall asleep 10 minutes in. Marlene asks very loaded questions that she expects answers to during lectures in a class discussion. Attendance is mandatory even though no exams, and all curriculum is online.
The professor gets very frustrated because she does not like teaching online. Your grade will depend on her mood.
She was an all around good teacher who cared about your participation and understanding of the material above all else. She is a pretty picky grader, though, and will call you out if she feels like youre not applying yourself. The outline of the class is clear. The course material quizzes are easy and you get 100% as long as you finish on time.
This Professor shouldnt be a psychology teacher a lot of talking about vaccines and autism which has nothing to do with the subject of psychology, she gets mad if you dont understand her , and she gets moody if you dont understand the concept very horrible.
I took this course during my first term of college (with no prior high school experience) and passed with a solid A, so it's definitely doable. She seemed to expect written assignments to be fairly detailed, which was a bit time-consuming and tedious, but not really difficult otherwise. Prof. Eid herself didn't seem very approachable, unfortunately
Unavailable, unfair/nitpicky in grading, hard to understand, unclear expectations for assignments, throws ready-made, dated busywork from the publisher at students instead of actually curating a course. Get ready to write multiple overly-detailed papers a week and parrot back vaccine controversy stuff rather than learn. Will not accept late work.
Eid is a lecture-heavy teacher. I got a B due to a few missing projects which is fair. After reading the textbook chpt for the week, she spends 2 hours reiterating all the info we just read. It was hard to be engaged in this class because the information is so repetitive. Weekly papers are basically just rewriting the textbook to answer questions.
Marlene, although a Karen at times, is a good psychology professor. She utilizes the publisher's slides and expects you to complete the CONNECT assignment the weekend before lecture. I got 90+ on most assignments. Just make sure you ask her what *specifically* she is looking for you to answer on the prompts, because sometimes they can lack info.
Best teacher I've ever had! Very passionate about the topic she is teaching, as well as teaches you useful life skills. You can get a good grade in her class as long as she can tell you understand the topic in your response.
Marlene is truly genuine and cares for all of her students! Class felt like a therapy group where we discussed the homework, discussions, and personal stories related to the topics. It was freeing! Be prepared to listen. HW is textbook heavy! Weekly discussions and questions, once you get the flow of due dates the class is "easy".
I liked Marlene's class but a lot of the info felt very dated (video series was from the 1990s). VERY particular about what you answer in the homework discussions so make sure you read carefully and answer specifically. Lots of reading but once you get the rhythm it's a good flow. I did learn quite a bit but wouldn't take her again
English is not her first language and some of the rubrics for the homework wasn't 100% clear occasionally. You have to participate and show up to each class because you are graded some based on class participation. Uses Achieve for textbook homework assignments but its literally read the textbook and then don't give up on those and you'll get 100%.
Do not take her class, take it from a different professor if you can. She uses something called connect from mcgraw hill, and you have to pay money out of pocket. She is so unhelpful and she does not answer youre questions just says (go look through the orientation videos).
Marlene's online psych 201A class is pretty intensive, so staying on top of coursework and having a set schedule is important. I liked how assignments were due on the same days every week (discussion video on Friday, homework on Sunday, etc.) There wasn't a midterm, and the final was relatively easy. It's a good class for determined learners.
To start off class was very boring to go to. There were only like 10 people in my class and 3 people dropped out mid way through the term. She just talks the whole time and participation matters. She grades the homework very tough and I needed to constantly remind her to grade my assignments. You have to buy an expensive online textbook as well.
I would not recommend taking psych with her. All of her classes are very lecture heavy, attendance was mandatory which sucked, bc all she did was read the powerpoint off the screen, (that she doesn't give you access to view). Most of the class wouldn't show up. She is a very tough grader, and a lot of the stuff she teaches doesn't make much sense.
Marlene's psych class is intensive but doable. Stay on top of work and use study tools like unstuck AI to prepare. Grading is detailed but fair. Overall a good course for determined learners.
She has a bit of an obsession with autism and vaccines (which have nothing to do with what we are learning in our textbook. The class pretty much is all text book reading coupled with watching videos from the nineties. Her class content is quite boring and repetitive. I would not take her again.
English isn't her first language so the lecture notes aren't perfect, just expect to learn all info from the textbook. She also is an easy grader so you don't have to put in a lot of work for the discussion posts.
