Very boring, difficult to follow. Tests are very difficult and hard to follow.

This teacher is terrible, she is boring, has an annoying voice, and words her problems difficultly. The test are way too long for the amount of time given. She makes everyone in the class feel dumb about themselves. She doesnt teach the information that well, and she is always busy. Avoid at all costs!

She is by far the worst teacher ive ever had. She is no help at all. She just stands at the board writing problems down thinking that everyone is understanding it. She talks to her students like they are stupid. Her voice will put u to sleep. She also combines 4 chapters into one test so the tests are like so hard. I dont recommend this teacher.

She is by far the worst teacher I have EVER had. I have never failed a class in my life except hers. The test material is often harder than what she actually taught. My friend got in a car accident the day of a test and showed her the accident report in hopes to make it up and she would not allow it. Very cut and dry & avoids answering questions.

Worst teacher. She is extremely anal with how she grades. 2 points out of 10 because of a step missing in work. She makes everything harder then it needs to be. Would not recommended her to anyone.

Normally I'm not too bad at math, this woman made it so much harder for me. If you ask her to explain something more, she pretty much laughs at you and tells you to read the book. I'd never recommend this professor to anyone.

she wouldn’t help me at all, you ask her to explain something and she could go on a tangent about something science related, or tell you to see her after class but you know what, i work after school, so i emailed her, no response, i talked to her in class and she said to see her during her office hours, again i work, she was not helpful at all!

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! Unless you can teach yourself the material do not take her! There was so much homework and the tests were much harder than what we actually leaned in class. There are quizzes every week. DO NOT TAKE HER!!!

I've had plenty of awful math teachers, but she really is the worst. After the 1st test, almost half of the class dropped out. With the 16 people left in the class, I'd say around half are still failing. Avoid her at all costs.

It seems that LCCC does not look at evaluations. Therefore, you are pretty much stuck with this one. I will put this plain and simple...SHES THE WORST!!! Find another daytime professor for Calc II, LCCC.

According to her, attendance is mandatory. But if I had it my way, I wouldn't have shown up to class at all. I taught myself everything. Mylabs is a better source than the teacher. The only good thing is that she provides the notes in powerpoint form for you to print out. Didn't use the book once. Only thing you need is an access code for mylabs.

The absolute worst teacher I have ever had. I'm not that bad at math but this woman has made my life this semester a living hell while attending her class. She doesn't help at all with anything! I've had to teach myself everything in the course and her tests are way different from her lecture. Don't take her class no matter what.

Worst professor I have ever had. I took this class online. I got an A in the prior math course I took, and a C in this one. Waited 3-4 weeks to grade our exams, didn't respond to emails, and when asked questions, told to "refer to the text." Not helpful at all.

Im telling you dont take this class I read and saw the reviews and took the class anyways... And i ended up with a 60 she doesnt care about her students and doesnt offer any help when you ask tests are to hard and she doesnt teach well at all dont waste your time trust me and drop or switch to another teacher i wish i did...

You use mathlabs for homework and quizzes. No book. Unhelpful when you have problems with MLP. She doesn't answer questions because she records her slides and packs like 2 chapters into 1 class period, says she doesn't have time to answer them.

I used to like math.. until i met this woman. She claims to "like teaching students".. but whats the point if she barely helps them? I went to her to tell her i was struggling and all she suggested was spending more time with homework.. not that she'd help or reffer to someone who could. Absolutely terrible. Waste of time and money taking the class

She is boring and long. She said you have to read the math book and she grades hard. She does not really explain good and jumps around in the notes. If you can have a different teacher do it. I'm good at math never got below an "A" before her class and no one has time or energy to put in just one class with everything else.

I usually read these posts and take them lightly, but this time the teacher has made an impression enough for me to post. DO NOT TAKE A CLASS W/ THIS PROF! Out of all the math teachers/profs she was the worst. We missed 2wks of class(snow). She posted videos of her notes w/ her speaking. Also she has on 2 occasions moved UP quizzes w/ li/no notice.

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. Do not take this class with this prof! I failed math 105 last semester because she wasn't helpful and I changed my major and no longer needed her class and she refused to let me drop it. It took her about 2 weeks 2 and a half weeks to grade each exam.

Im half way through this semester and i have NEVER cried/been so stressed over one class. She is rude, inconsiderate, and never replys to emails. I recommend avoiding AT ALL COSTS. Withdraw as soon as possible. Exams are long and difficult. Must show COMPLETE work on EVERYTHING to receive ANY credit. AVOID.

Very nice professor but she is a tough grader. This is probably one of the hardest math classes I have taken. She goes through the lessons very rapidly and if we did not get through a chapter, it would be rushed through. Some lessons were not explained very clearly which led many of us to be frustrated. No extra credit at all.

I dropped this math class because this professor told me it'd be almost impossible for someone like me to pass her class. She as the toughest grader and gave so much homework. I wouldn't wish that class on anyone.

Terrible teacher. You basically teach yourself and come into class to do work. She can be a nice person but we barely learned in this class. I recommend not taking this class with her.

Fifficult to get any feedback or response . completed homework and had good grades on quizzes and homework. I thought I was doing well in the class, A's and B's on Homework and quizzes, tests & final received F's! No help or explanations given. 4.0 grade average dropped. passed class by one point, retook wt another prof. , passed B+.

I've been to three universities, and this teacher is the hardest, non comprehensive professor I have ever had. Aced the homework and quizzes, failed one test and it dropped my grade down to a D. Get ready to teach yourself, because the stuff taught in class only scrapes the surface of what is on the tests...

The week before an exam we had four sections of homework and two online quizzes due, a take home quiz has taken three weeks to grade and exams have roughly a two week turnaround time. Recommend avoiding her class at all costs, regardless of how proficient in math you are.

Just don't do it. Even if this is the only class you have left and she's the only professor who has an opening; She runs through the examples and expects you to write the notes down and just understand it on your own. She doesn't know how to explain the process in getting the write answer. I think the highest grade in my class is a C.

I would never take this class with this professor again. Beginning of the semester was fine until all the required work started to rack up. Very lecture heavy. If you go to her for help, she will make a big fuss and expect you to know what you are doing. Doesnt fully explain certain problems. Id pick another teacher to take this class with. AWFUL!

I took this class over summer, and it was insane. She does not work with you at all. I had been out of school for 14 years, so taking her class, I was relearning a lot. She would not help, and her lectures are beyond boring. A 3hour youtube video... come on. You can not hear the questions being asked only her answers, and she moves on. Never again.

Avoid her and this class at all costs.. Take it from someone's who's struggled with math all my life I lasted a week in her class and withdrew even after she refused to let me withdraw in the first place... Gives way too much homework and has no sympathy for others especially with someone like myself who has a learning disability in math.

The worst Professor I have ever had. It is disgraceful that she is the head of the Math department at LCCC. She is an AWFUL professor. We did not get our first tests back until 10 weeks into the semester, I withdrew from the class because I knew I was going to fail. I have NEVER done this before. She is not understanding or lenient in grading.

Online was so much more difficult with her as a professor. Her lectures were droning, boring, and rarely kept my attention. I've watched MTV shows that were better than this class. Coming straight out of high school into this environment was one of the biggest mistakes I've ever made with her class at the top of reasons why.

Took weeks to grade the 1st exam, assigns 3 hw assignments, a 50 question review, a quiz, and then we have to take an exam. all within a week. She lectures too fast, gets mad if you ask questions or if you don't know how to do the problem. Doesn't communicate well at all outside of class, you must spend your life in this class to pass. terrible.

You want to pass this class? You're gonna have to say screw your routined life and spend hours studying and doing the work. Did the homework and quizzes well with a breeze, but she is a terrible professor. For those who are busy outside of school with work and such, you should find a different prof, cause botz aint the one for you. ridiculous.

Nobody is going to want to spend their life focusing on this class to pass for a semester. the way she assigns the work is terrible, all within a week and then there's an exam, not to mention she is hard to reach outside of class. tutor was way better than she was helping me out, prepare for her to get mad when you need help with a question btw

By far one of the toughest classes I've ever taken. Only reason I passed was because we didn't have webcams on with our lockdown browsers so I could have all my notes near me for exams. Lots of homework, even on exam weeks, you're loaded up. The online class is learn-it-yourself. Lots of holes in canvas, very mismanaged. The lectures are old and from 2013, very boring - better off learning from yaymath on YouTube. Prof blatantly ignores emails. Not one exam was graded before the end of term, so you never know how you're doing...

She is the reason i will never return to school. English is my most hated subject but i still passed because my professor was interesting, engaging, funny, relatable and understanding. all the things miriam harris-botzum was not. Even being a part-time student i failed, imagine being full time and having to do all her work plus the others. disaster

Very irresponsible with checking emails and communication later in the semester. Tests are 45% of your grade rendering the countless homework's and quizzes you will complete useless if you do bad on your exam. I would not recommend taking her classes at all.

In the beginning of my fall semester, my Discrete Math class was canceled. She agreed to do an independent study with me. Although I finished all of the work before end of semester, she told me she had family issues, didn't have time to grade, & would give me an incomplete. I need this to graduate, I have a 3.8 & 66 credits, just waiting on her....

I had Mrs. Harris-Botzum for my spring semester of 2022 and she has been very unhelpful, loads all of your grade into 3 huge exams, and does not offer much help as far as fixing grades or wanting to improve the class. Uses only lecture slides and is quite confusing while teaching. Maybe an in person experience would be better?

Went away for a few weeks at the beginning of the semester and didn't give the substitute any instruction. Takes literal months to grade anything. First few graded assignments were months apart, and the next 4 were each due one day after the other. Offers revisions for graded assignments, but has yet to actually grade any revisions this semester.

She doesn't teach you "how" to do a problem, or show you "how" to write out and complete an equation or word problem. She just does it and hopes you understand.

Professor takes months to grade anything even though she claims to utilize a revision system, uses that system as an excuse to hand out low grades, and fails to cover relevant material in lecture. She also backloaded 5 chapters worth of work to the end of the semester, and has barely even begun grading work from the first 2 months of the semester.

Very tough grader, would take away points for the smallest of errors, explained topics poorly, required the textbook to be read in its entirety, and required cameras to be kept on. She would dock attendance if a person spoke to someone in their own home. She did not adapt well to teaching online and has unrealistic expectations of her students.

I have had this professor for 2 classes now and each one has been dreadful to take. Exams are well over 60% of your grade, she is extremely picky with her grading, her lecture videos are very short and not in depth. Expect to be reading the "textbook" you get in its entirety, multiple times over. Exams normally don't reflect homework good at all.

Feels like I'm drowning in this course. There is almost 120 problems each week on top of quizzes, lecture videos, 3 exams, and for some reason a group project in an online calculus class? Honestly thought being online would be more flexible with my schedule, but highly recommend biting the bullet and finding an in person class instead.

If you choose this professor, get ready to devote your entire life to calculus. The toughest grader and worst communicator I've ever seen. My initial exam grade was in the 50's, the class average. I thought, fine, maybe she'll curve it since so many failed.. Next thing I know, my grade was lowered into the 30's. Avoid this one no matter what

Online summer course, minimum 100 questions per week not including quizzes. Exams do not reflect homework at all. She is impossible to reach even through email. Takes way too long to grade anything that requires her to do it. Course Exams are 65% of your grade. An awful group project during an online summer course? Not very flexible.

Do not take any course with Harris-Botzum! My entire class failed the first test! She also teaches math using powerpoint- should have been my first clue. I retook the same class with another professor and am receiving an A. Everyone that I speak to about her says she is not a good teacher and that they won't take her classes again.

When emailing her it takes her a few weeks for her to respond to any questions you might have and by then you are on to a new section. She only has office hours for an hour or so once a week if you want to go in person to get help. Does not really care if you are learning or not. Uses Kendall Hunt which in my opinion is not the best program.

If I could give her a 0 I would have. Very rude and condescending. I tried to withdraw a few days after the withdrawal deadline and I tried to appeal it but it was still a no. If you like your sanity and your grades/gpa DO NOT TAKE HER. I just took the failing grade and retook it in the Spring and PASSED with a B+. Thanks to David Yerger.

I've never had problems with taking online classes before, but the fact that after the first few weeks into the course she would no longer respond to me was very frustrating. I was very lucky to have gotten a B in this class, especially considering she didn't grade any of the three exams I took till AFTER I took the final and the class had ended.

Will not grade your exams until final's week and you will likely fail.

The worst experience I've had at LCCC was in this class. She talked way too quickly and didn't explain the material very well, blamed the students for overall failing grades on tests, and barely graded anything until after the final. I had no clue if I passed or not, I put most of my time and energy into studying for this class. AVOID IF POSSIBLE

Don't take her she's bad at teaching. In the end, you'll be better off learning from the textbook in Flatworld. Her powerpoints are Terrible!!!

Beware of this women. Lemme tell u right now I have never been so appalled by a teachers behavior. This women has no idea what she was doing and was the most diobolical test grader. The windows in this class had to be opened after she went off on us for are test grades and crop dusted us during the exams. Beyond unprofessional.

Absolutely awful. Has majority of her assignments on a homework platform, is whispering when doing her lectures in her videos. Does not work to help you at all, and has so many papers for introductions. A syllabus could have been enough. Depend on the textbook because the author is better than her.

I should've listened to the other reviews on here but instead I gave her the Benefit of the Doubt. Big mistake! Exams are 70% of your grade and she doesn't grade until the last minute so you don't really know your grade until it's too late. She didn't even grade our last two exams and never responds when you reach out. LCCC needs to do better.
