I am in my fifth year now and will soon graduate with 3 bachelor degrees in three completely separate programs, but this was the only class I have ever dropped. By far the only teacher I have had that did not care about her students. DON'T TAKE HER

honestly the worst teacher I have ever had in a school system. she doesn't help you with anything and i'm fairly sure she's **** towards African - Americans even though she is black. i hated class so much i skipped everday for 3 weeks, take ANYONE else!

I learned nothing and was forced to take a diffrent teacher, in which I got an A. I recommend if you want to learn take a diffrnet proffesor or... take a diffrent class.

I began to hate SOC because of her. I am surprised to see that there are couple of people who infact like her.

Worst teacher on the planet. I'd move a new solar system before I would take her again.

I hate her! She is mean. I am an A student and I had to drop her class (more than half did) She thinks she is better than everyone, said that we can complain all we want b/c she has tenure, so she can´t get fired. she made that a point many times.

Durr assigned mandatory papers about speakers that spoke during my other classes. Her other optional assignment was complex and unrelated to what we learning. She has her student teachers deal with complaints. Her syllabus is unorganized.

The first day of class she was 30 minutes late, and got up on a big soapbox when she did finally arrive about how important it was to be on time to her class, not to mention the rest of the bad instructions.

All the class was about was women, even had to buy an extra book about women for the class to write a huge paper. Failed every exam after hours of looking over notes, but was able to get a A because of the paper being worth so much.

I got an A in the class and studied for the tests, etc, but in my case when I asked her questions about the test she told me I had no right to ask her questions. She had questions on the test that weren't from the book or notes & I attended class.

She seems so angry and bitter, and what a shame. I thought that sociology could be interesting and fun, but, after taking her class, I'm totally turned off by it. Soc majors beware!

Awful Prof, dropped the class after 2 weeks, I couldn't stand it!

Doesn't explain ANYHTING...then hits you with some master's degree level questions on the test...my advice DON'T TAKE HER! Save yurself. And if you've taken her and read this...I meant to misspell that word! Yeah right. LOL.

Dr. Durr was the worst professor I have had in my college career. She did not show up to class for the first week and a half of class due to a family issue but never told the class she would not be there. Her syllabus was unclear and she provided no guidance for the class. I would highy recommend taking someone else. Its not worth the stress!

This teachers expectations were not clear for the class. She even gave us the wrong final exam date and emailed us the day before the real date to take the test when no one was ready.

Overall she was nice. Her bark was bigger than her bite. She actually made me laugh quite a bit. But she did show up late to class A LOT always with an excuse, but she also didn't care if you came in late. Her expectations were very unclear at times and the syllabus doesn't help much.

horrible. didn't like questions. didn't even show up for the first day of class. told us she was leaving, but never got a sub. not helpful or clear. a loud mouth, with nothing of importance to say.

Was 5-20 min. late to each class & never held class for the full time, stating she did not care. Does not return emails or keep posted office hours. Got off topic during lecture often. Class content was really Sex Ed., but was advertised as Sociology of HIV/AIDS. Generally treated students as children. Did not understand basic Sociology terms.

Has a very different approach to teaching. She relies heavily on Pilot for her assignments and likes to assign a metric ton of reading. Her lectures are a challenging to keep up with, and it seems like she doesn't necessarily like the textbook given. Students had a hard time finding her specific textbook, and tends to go off on tangents a lot.

Dont count on her to help you outside of class. Huge hypocrite. Non-clear grading rubric and when you have a question about it they will send you straight to pilot (after it didnt help the first time). Makes her opinions known. Will never get a straight answer. Shouldnt put all the blame on her, TA never answered one of my many questions

not my favorite professor. Her lectures are confusing and long and she gives you no time to read before she skips and she doesn't post the slides. Her tests are about things you have never went over.

I have attended wright state for 3 yrs and this is by far the WORST professor I have ever had. She will not send you lecture notes, so if you don't write it down you'll never see it again. She does not let you use a computer to take notes. She yelled at a student for writing due dates in their planner because she "was not focusing" AVOID HER!

Does NOT teach anything on the tests. The test covers NOTHING that you will learn in class. She is very opinionated and calls out students in class and makes them uncomfortable. Shows up late to class often, if she is not late she is early and will start class before it starts. DO NOT TAKE ANY CLASS WITH HER.

By far the least respectful Professor I have had. She will call out students to shame them in font of their peers for non-issues, and I have witnessed her hold students after and assign extra work like an elementary teacher. Incredibly belittling. Her lectures are read verbatim from PowerPoint and she will not give time to note them, or share them.

Do not take any of her classes if you can avoid it! She is very rude and unprofessional, if you are caught recording her lecture, you will get in trouble. Does allow for extra time if you email her in advance. Very condescending. Lots of writing and reading of the textbook.

Way too much work, most unclear rubrics and instructions I've ever had. So much lecture verbatim. Tries to focus on too much info in a short time, so too fast-paced to really learn anything. Highly do not recommend

Did not care about you or your progress. Her TA did nearly all of the work. A single essay was nearly 40% of the grade and most of the time was spent on a separate project based on her own interest than class criteria. All exams are completed with an insane lockdown browser and she gives very little preparation. Exams are much harder than class.

If I could do it all over again, I would have avoided her class at all costs. Her TA does most of the work and grading. She's perfectly okay with giving you work over break, but don't expect her to answer your emails about it. She was quick to assume students were just lazy when they needed help and doesn't take responsibility for anything.

Dr. Durr is cold, unforgiving, and impersonal, on top of being a ruthless grader. My biggest grievance - quizzes and exams were outrageously difficult for an intro-level course. The amount of information you are expected to retain is completely monstrous. The fact that she has any 5.0 ratings at all is honestly egregious. Avoid at ALL costs.

Seriously do NOT take any of her courses. I've been taking intro to sociology this semester and it has been very miserable. Intro to sociology online is a ridiculous concept. Lectures never align with the book, expects students to memorize too much, exams are difficult, and everything she has posted on Pilot is confusing. I could complain more.

DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS IF YOU WANT A GOOD GRADE ON YOUR RECORD! I've been at WS for three years and she's the WORST! Don't do it!!!!

The easiest thing about class were the quizzes. The exams were harshly graded and the discussion boards required heavy writing. Grading was completed slowly and at times would vanish from the gradebook. Too much material was expected to be studied for exams announced two days or the day prior.

I took her Intro to Sociology class which was a 2000 class. I thought this would be an easier class considering it's only a level 2 and is an introduction course. Her exams are horrendous. She barely goes by the book material, which was a 40-50 page chapter, and wants you to watch her at least hour-long lectures which did NOT go with the book.

HORRIBLE, even other school staff hate her. I have no idea how she gets her exams questions because it never matches the lectures. The study guide did not even match exams.

Professor Durr is not capable of teaching a class. We have had problems with our grades being submitted into Pilot since the beginning of the semester, and she will not do anything about it. If you do all the InQuizative assignments up until you get a 100%, you will be fine in this class. The exams are a joke, they barely count for your grade.

Durr is absolutely awful and does not take into account that students have lives too. If you want to maintain a decent transcript, do not take this class. For being an elective, it ended up being more difficult than any class I took that actually had to do with it. my major and just isn't worth it at all.

Took online, and it was rough. My exam grades sucked because I felt like I knew nothing. Lectures were sometimes short but always hard to stay engaged on. Seemed like she only even contacted us when a big grade was coming up

Dr. Durr seriously needs to retire. forget if you have an emergency because she will NOT let you take an exam past her time frame. She also is a horrible essay grader; she makes students write about the required book however her comments are harsh and graded harsher. Please for your own sake do not take this class or any of hers for that matter.

Dr. Durr is a horrendous professor! Her syllabus is a wreck and she can't even keep assignment point values or due dates straight and consistent. She can't answer a question without being asked several times and refers you to the stated source of your confusion to answer your questions. AVOID HER!

She is very unhelpful. You can ask her specific questions and she wont give you an answer. Shell say "read instructions" You can ask her an either or question and she will say "yes" She is a biased teacher that descrimates against students she doesnt like. She purposefully withholds information. She is a bottom of the barrel teacher.

This class has been a nightmare. The syllabus was not corrected, causing some classmates to miss the exam window. She opened the exam back up but was very aggressive about how she should not have had to. The instructions for our final project were unclear, and accoording to the syllabus, if any formatting is wrong, we will lose half the score.

An online asynchronous class, and she forces you to go to an in-person lecture. Blatant disregard for campus rules.
