He loves Mountain Dew, and he is a cool guy. But that doesn't mean his class is easy.
He does love Mountain Dew. He is VERY monotone but is a good teacher. He will help you whenever you need it. He does post old exams on webct for you to see. Also will help around final time to get you the better grade if you deserve it.
Very hard tests...watch out. class is very boring, but he does give powerpoint notes on web ct. nice guy, but would try to get an easier professor.
Class isn't too hard if you study, he's a funny guy, but can also be boring
very very boring. had to correct him on question during final, then didn't tell other students about correction.
like others have said "boring," his lectures are also unclear and he assigns too much buisy work, he works problems on the board that are hard to copy in your notes and follow, he doesn't speak clearly or explain things on a learner's level. nic
His class was about average difficulty. Study all the old test and make your A. When I did attend class, it was enjoyable in that he is knowledgeable and if you know a little finance, he is interesting to listen to. I like his class.
funny man class was enjoyable ask him where his car tires are...
didn't like him at all. class wasn't impossible but he's very scatterbrained and gets confused easily. wouldn't suggest taking him. he made a few inappropriate comments and strays off the subject a lot.
Nice guy. Likes to chat. Does not rush teaching to make sure you know the material. Offers extra credit. You have to study the old tests on WebCT, but a very do-able class.
He is a great teacher, very funny. Go to class everyday because good attendance will definetely help your avg. Study the old tests, they are very similar. Plus you get cheat sheets for the tests. I only missed 1 day of class all semester and he bumped my avg. up 5 or 6 points. Take Jensen if you can
What to say about this guy hmm. Well he is a strange person. Zips through problem on board thinking that you know what he is doing. Test are about an 8 on a hard scale of 1-10,has tricky questions where one word changes the whole problem. Gives extra credit though which got me through with a C.
Great Guy. The class isn't that easy, but he'll do all he can for you.
He is extremely helpful, gives students every oportunity to have a good grade, you either get it or you dont. Class is boring, but how exciting can a bond be??
Great professor...you just gotta go to class everyday. Knows his information very well.
I am in this guys 8:00 am class for Fall 2005, and today I just got fed up with him. My friends and I have no clue what he is doing. I am not a lazy student either, who wants everything easy either. This guy just goes through problems, without explaining the significance to Finanace as it should be in a beginning Finance class.
Nice guy. Need to go to class. He works the problems in class. Use his old tests to study and you will do great. Will give you extra credit if you ask for it. Make sure you answer all the questions on the old exams and study them. All tests are alot alike. A very do-able class.
I had a hard time with this class. He doesn't really explain the answers in detail at all. He works them and expects you to know why. Go to his office to talk to him a few times, it will help your final grade.
no new material occurs in the class. it's all presentations and there is no final and only one test which is incredibly easy. great 4000 level finc elective. jensen has the funniest dry sense of humor ever.
Not a very easy class! On our 2nd test over half the class made below a 50. He gives a lot of extra credit, but he has to or else everyone would fail. He takes attendance and will bump your grade if you're borderlined. Really nice guy and very smart, but doesn't teach very well!
I had to work very hard in this class just to get a B. He goes really fast through problems but the tests are pretty much just like the old exams..study all of them..ALOT!
This is a great 4000 level class! It is a lot of work, but he grades everything so easy that it is hard to do bad on anything. Jensen is a great teacher!!
Hard class, the examples he gives in class are gone through way too fast. I would take someone else.
Not really a great teacher... He assumes that everyone already has a basic knowledge of finance stuff... He flies through the examples in class so it is hard to follow... He offered A LOT of extra credit since everyone was doing poorly, so that was good... He posts his old tests, so be sure to study them! Not impossible, but you do have to study.
Horrible, very monatoned. Goes over about 2 examples per class. questions arent like examples....gives alot of bonus but he gets off on making people failing. went to his office and he was bragging about 1/3 of the class failing before the final....do not take...take anyone else
He is soooo monotone. If you can take his class in the afternoon that may be better, but avoid him in the morning. He doesn't teach, just does problems on the board. Not a good teacher at all.
The guy is incredibly smart, and pretty funny for an 8:00 class, absolutely loves mountain dew.. However he just does not teach very well, he just blows through examples ands expects you to learn the material on the own. He does offer a lot of extra credit, but everyone would fail if he didn't. If you take him expect to work really hard.
DO NOT TAKE HIM!!! He gives you his old test but it doesn't really help b/c the questions he ask you on your test are the complete opposite. I would recommend Yost.
Great guy!
Dry sarcastic sense of humor. Hilarious. Obsessed with Findley's Burger Day and Mountain Dew. Don't buy the book. Work through as many of the old tests as possible, and then ask him to do the questions you don't understand. Extra credit as long as you attend class and take the quizzes consisting of questions such as What's my favorite drink?
This guy is funny, loves Mt.Dew. The class averages were around 65-70 every time so it was a hard class, I made a B but had to work pretty hard. Not Impossible!
Laid back guy with a hilarious dry sarcastic sense of humor. Tests are alright if you go to class. If you don't understand anything in class, go to his office and he'll make sure you get it. LOTS of extra credit offered. Loves Mountain Dew and the movie "Strange Brew." His oldest son is sweet and really cute! Flatter him (to get on MJ's good side)!
I loved him! He is such a nice guy. During class he gives examples of problems, not much concept teaching. He is very willing to help you, especially if you go to class. He gives you old tests and if you know how to do those problems really well-backwards and forwards- then you will do well on the tests.
Such a nice guy. He gives lots of extra credit, but you have to be present in class to get it. It's extremely boring, but it's important to go to class. He loves Mountain Dew. Take one to class, and he'll love you forever. Really understanding and willing to help a lot. Buy the book or share with someone bc you'll need it for the homework!
very tough class even for the one of the most basic finance classes at auburn. Dr. Jensen is hilarious and is actually a nice and down to earth guy especially compared to most other businss teachers. he bumped me up multiple points for my final average! thanks mountain dew man!
Very nice guy! he tries to be really funny but nobody really laughs at him which makes it funny. Old tests are given and are pretty much identical to the tests so as long as you can do the old tests you should pass. I should've gotten a C and got a B so he def curved something along the way
Principles of finance. Hard class. Practically gives you the test but its still hard. DO well on the 1st test because all of the other tests are really hard. Especially the 2nd test. Learn how to use the calculator. Absolute must. Learn how to do the previous tests and make sure you know how to do every problem.
Can be very boring but its very helpful to go to class, makes it so anyone can do well. Gives extra quizzes to help your grade, makes tests very do-able. Good teacher to get for principles of finance even though he's boring.
He is a very nice man but this class is way to hard for an intro to finance class. He gives you practice tests and let's you use a cheat sheet and it was still hard to do well. Take someone else is you can, I dropped him!
Take Dr. Jensen if at all possible. His quizzes are gimmes. If you go to class and listen to what he is saying you will do fine. He gives you opportunities to make up not so great test scores on at least one of the exams. I would definitely recommend him.
He is good. Make sure you do well on the first exam and third as they are the easiest. And go to class! Even if you don't pay attention at all go ahead and get his gimme attendance points. Learn how to use the calculator!!!
He is the best finance professor at Auburn. Period. If you do not like him, you do not need to be in the finance field.
The man is an angel! I'm horrible with math which is all FINC 3810 is. I struggled with the class, but if you ask he will make time to help you. He even made time for me to come by his office the day before the final. I was originally afraid to ask him for help, but he's actually one of the nicest professors at Auburn. Also he loves Mountain Dew.
I was dreading this class, but Mr. Jensen was great. I am terrible at math and I truly hate it. I had to force myself to pay attention because he's very monotone, but when I did I really understood. He explains things very well and very clearly. Accommodating too.
I'm conflicted on this class. The professor is probably one of the nicest you'll ever have, but he's very monotone, and speaks using jargon you probably won't comprehend for about half of the class. Combine that with content that isn't very easy to follow to begin with, and it creates issues. Class isn't mandatory, but go for the quizzes.
Ok, so this class is really boring, but don't completely zone out or you will be entirely lost and finance isn't an easy thing to teach yourself. Jensen is great though. Literally helped me so much before the final and helped me get an A in the class!
I was really worried about this class and the tests are really hard. In order to make an A you would probably have to work all the problems in the book. He lets you bring a formula sheet to the tests. He changed the grading percentages at the end and made the final optional. Not terrible, but a lot of work. He LOVES that Mountain Dew!!!
This class was tough. Like any math-based class, if you don't go to class, you won't pass. I learned this during the 2nd exam. However, Dr. Jensen is a pretty nice guy and will help you when you are lost. Go to class, do the practice problems he gives you, and go over the old tests. You even get a "cheat sheet" for every test.
Jensen is the easiest teacher for finance but its not an easy class! If you go to class and actually pay attention though you should do fine. 1st test is super easy but 2nd test is HARD and so is the 3rd. But it is not that hard to get an A if you put forth the effort. He LOVES that mountain dew!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The class was absolutely horrid. Dr. Jensen though, is an angel. In all reality, I probably deserved to fail that class, but he passed me. He is an absolute joy to be around and is hilarious. I just couldn't grasp the concept of finance. I have absolutely no complaints about Dr. Jensen at all. You have to work hard in the class, but he is amazing!
I loved having him. He's funny and keeps lectures interesting. Anytime you need help out of class he's always there for me. I'm not a finance major but he helped me through the class. He has all his old tests and answers online to study with and the tests are all similar! I would definitely take him again! Also, he LOVES Mountain Dew.
Dr. Jensen is hilarious. The material is boring and difficult to grasp but he lets you have a cheat sheet for each test. Attendance isn't mandatory but you will be lost if you don't go. He also gives random attendance quizzes that are worth 5% of the final grade. Study the old tests and build your cheat sheets off of them and should pull an A
LOVE THIS MAN!!! He is hilarious in class when he is not lecturing about the extremely dry and boring material. He gives random extra credit quizzes that he gives the answers to in class so it is worth going. LOVES mountain dew. Have to work for the tests but definitely would take him again.
Dr. Jensen is a super nice guy and he is an easy grader. This class is mostly group project based with one exam. These projects require A LOT of work, I probably spent 15-20 hours outside of class trying to complete each one. You have to present these projects to the class so if you don't like talking in front of people this will be difficult.
If you rework all of the old tests he puts on canvas, you should be totally fine for the class. He lets you have a cheat sheet so write down as much as you can on that. I got a 100 on test 1 and test 3 and a 65 on test 2 and was still able to get an A in the class. Also go to class because that is where you will really learn the calculator.
Love him but the content is definitely boring, he means well and will help you out if you ask him specific questions. I never paid attention in class, but showed up for all the participation quizzes and studied the old tests and ended with a 99.
Good professor, tough class. Math really isn't my strong suit so I guess I was destined to struggle anyway. Exams are also pretty much your only grades besides participation so be careful. He does make the final optional though and lets you have a cheat sheet for your exam, so write down whatever you can on that.
A nice guy but quite possibly the worst professor I have ever had. His lectures are extremely dry and has a very hard time explaining concepts to students. All he does is teach you how to use a financial calculator. I passed by teaching myself using internet videos. He gives you past tests so that helps. I wouldn't recommend his class to anyone.
Grade is only based on 3 exams with only 21 questions each and an optional final- no fluff work. Averages were usually Fs. Very dry lectures with rough material. I've only ever made A's at auburn and I made a low C in this class. Difficult calculator concepts. Attendance not counted and he posts all lecture videos on canvas.
Avoid this man at all costs. His class was absolutely awful. I failed this class and had to retake it with a different teacher. Honestly, I don't know how anybody could learn from this man. He should be fired.
This was the most difficult class I have encountered at Auburn. The lectures are dry and monotonous. Your grade is determined off of 3 tests which are 20 questions each. So you have 60 questions to try and pass. Professor talks super slow and reads off the slides. It is hard to stay engaged and actually learn the concepts. Take someone else. Do it.
Professor Jensen is a very wise man who finds joy in inspiring his students. The class is comprised of case studies and one final exam. The majority of the semester is comprised of different groups presenting their case studies and in the last week or so the final exam is given. You will learn much more than just finance if you show up to class.
A lot of people take issue with Jensen because they fail to separate the quality of the course content with the quality of the professor. He's not the most amazing professor I've ever had, but he is forgiving with his allowances. He allows you to bring in an entire sheet of scratch paper for exams, see all past exams, and even gives extra credit.
I was told not to take this class, I should have listened. This class in itself seems very fun and educational. However, Dr. Jensen will absolutely sack you during a presentation, it doesn't matter how well you prepare. Spent the entire presentation day verbally tearing our group apart with nonsense questions that had nothing to do with the project
You will have a few presentations all year, and that will be your grade besides a tough exam (he gives you all the questions before you just have to make the cheat sheet) and a fairly difficult individual company analysis. Overall if you do the work and don't slack, it should be a walk in the park.
I like him as a person, but I have struggled so much with this class. He rambles, so its really easy to space out during class and lose track of what's going on, but he does record the lectures. He put all of the previous test keys on canvas, but the class averages for the 3 tests were about 80%, 50%, and 65% so it's definitely not a cakewalk.
This class is difficult but if you do the practice exams that are available on canvas then you should be able to get a good grade. The second exam is by far the hardest but the extra credit he gives will bring your exam grade scores up. The final is optional based on the grade you have in the class. Overall great class but lectures are very boring.
Mr. Jensen is genuinely a great guy. Tests make up all of your grade. The great thing about his tests though is that he posts extremely similar tests from previous semesters, so you can use those as study guides. On top of that, he almost always curves the test, so you can feel comfortable knowing that you probably wont make an A straight away.
Dr. Jensen was kind of condescending in office hours. His first two exams are easy, the third got me. Obsessed with Mountain Dew. Shows easy, easy examples in class and then puts the hardest questions possible on the exams.
He is hilarious! Great professor, but just know tests and projects are challenging. The weekly papers are fun to write though, and he has great insights in this field!
DO NOT TAKE ONLINE supper hard class with no tutoring offered. At least 5 students dropped class after second exam. He posts videos from lectures but very difficult to understand.
I have nothing kind to say about this class or this man. I went to office hours seeking help understanding some mistakes I made on an exam and got laughed at for 15 minutes. The way he speaks is degrading and rude. DO NOT TAKE. This class was a nightmare to say the least.
This is not an easy class, but he made it bearable with all the extra credit he gives out. Since there are only 3 exams and an optional final, your final grade is only weighted by exams. The exam averages were all in the mid 70s, but he gave extra credit for all exams and more if the average was below 75.
He does not teach and talks about finance like you already know what he is talking about. Prepare to spend a lot of time outside of class trying to understand these concepts for yourself. I would not have passed this class without a tutor.
Idk why people don't like him! This class is not bad at all- it's much easier than ACCT 2810. Just take quality notes and make good cheat sheets for the tests and it's easy! He goes on tangents a lot, but lots of the things he talks about turn into bonus questions. First and third tests are so easy. Second test is hard, but he gives lots of bonus.
Professor Jensen is by no means a spectacular professor, but the class is not that hard. He gives you access to every past exam to study. Every test has a review which will yield +5 points towards your test grade. If the test average isn't high enough another chance for bonus points. If you watch the lectures and study you'll make an A easily.
It was a fairly easy experience with Mr. Jensen. Only 4 exams make up your grade (3 exams/an optional final). There are bonus opportunities that are worth a good chunk. If the class test average is low enough, you can rework the test and get extra credit. Being online was tough. You do get a cheat sheet (back, front, anything you want) for exams.
It was very hard to do well in this class. This professor was fun to learn from, but all grades come from tests. If you are not a good test taker, go to a different professor. There are technically extra credit opportunities, but not enough to affect your grade. On a human level, he's okay, but as a professor, I don't recommend him.
He is using textbook problems and examples from a textbook that us students no longer have access to. He did not realize this until two weeks into the semester. It is impossible to know what is going on. Maybe the classroom is just too big. Send prayers for my GPA
Nicknamed himself "Easy A Jenson". Good professor. All group presentations but guidelines are clear with the questions he wants you to answer during the presentation. Gives you 2 absences throughout the semester but is understanding with excuses if you need to miss another one. Would definitely take him again!
Exam 1 and 3 are easy and exam 2 makes no sense. You get a front and back cheat sheet MAKE SURE YOU WRITE DOWN OLD TEST QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS. He gives you access to all past exams. If the class average is below a 75, he will give you extra credit!! Super nice professor who wants his students to succeed. Not a business major.
Dr. Jensen was a great professor. It is pretty much all projects (3 or 4 of them) and then one exam. He is a very laid-back grader on the exam, and the presentations are easy as long as you include what he asks. The only downside is attendance is mandatory at everyone else's presentations (someone presents almost every class)
