She teaches very clear and understandable, willing to help you in and out of class, quizzes are based on homework assignments, stay focus in class --> you'll get an easy A!
She is nice, clear and she respects students ... You just need to listen in class and do your homework to get an A ... nothing really hard !
She is very nice and always available when students need help. Very straight forward and tells us clearly what to expect. Quizzes are based on homework. As long as you stay focus in class, you should have no problem at all.
I really liked her. I'm not a math wiz by far but I just went to every class and stayed on top of things. Even with that the class was very hard. Felt like I was really learning a lot and achieved something in the end. great teacher.
Stats is VERY hard but she's an excellent instructor. She explains things clearly, doesn't belittle students and is there for her students. I highly recommend her for Math 10.
Really good teacher. Explains really good. And the class is easy if you come everyday. If you don't then don't expect a good grade.
Great teacher. Laughs at own jokes but excellent instructor.Don't drop even if you think you have a bad grade.Offers group project thas worth 15% and final replaces bad grade on exam.3 Exams and Final.6 Quizzes easy class can use notes on quizzes, exams and on final. Easy A.
I like her. Ms. Francisco is very good!
Good teacher. Clear. Won't insult bad questions. Has this weird thing about thinking her own class is harder than it is to make her respectable or something.
This class isn't suppose to be easy but she is one of the best statistics teachers at foothill. You learn a lot from her but you do need to put work into her class by doing the hmw, studying for exams and quizes, and doing the minitabs.
She is a great teacher! There are a lot of work. But you learn through it! She is so passionate of her work.
Easy class. Lectures were very clear and she's always prepared for class, but Francisco is very patronizing and talks to students like they are her children. Tests and quizzes are very straightforward (final a bit tricky). If you know your algebra and how to use your calculator you will be fine.
what say about her. close your eyes and taker her class. main thing is, she wants to give everyone atleast C. if u study little bit u fine for class.
she is very good, knows a lottt! Her quizes r easy but midterms r hard.U have to study well, she is very soft spoken and jovial! I like her classes:-)
She is not easy at all, althought most international student are saying that she is EASY..It's better to take Martinez Rick instead of her, becuase in Rick's class,...you have a great chance to get a easy A!!!Not just A,...but AAA...and no lab for Rick's class!!!
She is great! I'm so glad I took Math 1C with her. She is very knowledgable and very helpful. I really learned a lot from her!
bring your ear plugs because this woman can PROJECT her voice like nobody's business. do your homework, study for quizzes/tests, and you'll be fine for the most part. a few surprises here and there. and don't talk while she's talking or (see 1st sentence).
if u want A don't take her class, the classes r not at all easy, quizes r easy but midterms r hard, good to say this is an English class rather than a math class,if do a sum right but there is 'rong verb or 'rong punctuations she will definitely deduct marks,so if u r confident about ur english skill take her otherwise not.
Hard to get anything other than C. Annoying laughs. Easy quizzes, hard midterm, very hard final ( almost all problems are tricky in the final, beware! )
she is the worst teacher in college...don't take her class specially if u r math person b'coz then u 'll loose ur confidence..I got "A" in all my math n sciece classes except this one just b'coz of her..its better she starts teaching english from next quarter..
tough but clear
goes too fast. tests are hard. not easy A
She definatly knows her stuff. The class is not easy, but it is very clear what you need to do. Over all she is a good teacher in a subject that is hard to grasp at first.
really disorganized, projects voice too much, annoying laugh, hard and tricky test, no way can get an A... forget it! book is a rip off and crummy too. we never used it and you CANNOT sell it back ($100)
I am a math major (I have moved on from Foothill), and I failed Francisco's 1C. Like, got an F, straight up. She is impossible, particularly if you are a math person. Ignore her, and hopefully she'll go away.
She is a great teacher as far as i know
this lady talks really fast and wont slow down sounds like a robot.and also looks dorky..her exams are way out of range 200 points my a&ss. yet her quizzes are not that bad overall do ur hwk but expect hard quizzes.her explanations are horrible students always correct her. also her she coughs all the time and it get annoying when taking exam. gluck
omg.. i dont know if i should be mean. but seriously her teaching style is bad. she's not that friendly and patient though she always tries to appear as such. she always thinks, "how wonderful are these equations!" and you'll just stare at her wondering if she has ever viewed the world beyond math. knobel and perino are better.. definitely
I would describe Marnie as condesending, impatient and unhelpful. Dont bother going to her office for help, I garantee you will not get any. Oh, and by the way she puts the most difficult problems on exams. If you take her class, good luck getting an A! You will need it, Regardless of how much you study.
I really tried my hardest, studying like a madperson in order to get a good grade in her class; to no avail. To say she is extremely difficult would be an understatement. Getting a good grade in her class, is statistically extremely improbable. She makes you feel like your in the third grade when you ask a question and is unavailable in general.
biggest nerd ever..i hate her...she is so hard and talks really fast good luck with her

She's not too bad of a teacher, but she has a very annoying voice which will give you a headache after a hour
Her tests are hard, but her grading is ok. She still gives u "A" if she thinks you are good student even if your overall is 88%
Hated the class... She moves WAY to fast, when people ask for her to slow down she'll make you feel like you're the only one needs it... like "Let. Me. Talk. Slow. For. You. Idiot."... Her voice is ANNOYING... Not the best teaching style... I've recieved certificates and awards in math, but this class I had to drop because I didn't get it.
Her teaching never confuses people because she knows her material very well. People who feel her class is hard normally do not have a strong/good math background. Her exams are difficult, but her grading is very fair. Overall, a great teacher if you really work hard. She has a very nice personality and always be patient.
Math 1C. Very pleasant with students, I like her. The "Survival Guide" she uses is full of typos and downright crappy explanations. I wish she didn't use it. Lectures can be very convoluted, lots of babbling. Tests and quizzes are reasonable if you do the homework problems carefully. The main text is wonderful, but the "Survival Guide" is awful.
great teacher. knows her stuff very well. very helpful
She is an okay teacher. The quizzes and tests are average in easiness, you just have to do the homework.
i'm so glad there's somebody who said he/she didnt get her even if he's mathematically-able. coz that's what happen. i've never got a problem with math. i even got Math1D but not 1C with her. but i was too stupid not to drop her class then. i got a B, but understands nothing until i review those chapters again on my own the next year when i took 1D
I really disagree with some of the previous comments. She is a very dedicated, organized, and knowledgable teacher. Calculus, at least for me, is very challenging, so you have to keep with the homework, and attend every lecture. She is always willing to help and uses a variety of approaches to enhance student's learning.
As long as I went to class and did at least some of the homework I had no issues. No complaints, I don't why so many others who posted did.
this class was pretty easy. 6 quizzes, 3 tests, final, and couple group projects. if you pay attn in class there really is no need to do the homework b/c she really explains everything. you get notes for all the tests/quizzes and is very accommodating and helpful. i highly reccommend this class to everyone!
she is very neat and organized. probably the only teacher i had that followed the agenda plan. she also got everything graded quickly. it is not hard to get an A if you attend class everyday and do 60% of the hw.
She is a good teacher, really helpful. As long as you pay attention and follow along it seems easy. She is really open to any questions. She isn't boring.
Francisco is a good teacher. Although the tests are super hard, the easy quizzes and final can help boost your grade. The one part I hated was the group work since it is really challenging problems. She also has the weirdest laugh too, which can get annoying though
She is a very good instructor and is very articulate! The final exam was hard with a lot of problems and true/false questions. Sometimes, it is unfair that some stat 10 class is much easier than the other ones. If you want an easy "A", her class is not the easiest one but is very helpful for students to learn statistics!
I absolutely loved her! She loves math and gets really excited as she lectures. She is so generous with her partial credit and wants her students to do well. If you go to class and visit her at her office hours if you dont understand something, you should get at least a b. We have quizes every friday that are straight from the homework.
Super helpful!! Really a hard class, I wouldn't recommend skipping it at all!! The tests are just like the homework so definitly do the homework and always ask questions!! Very thorough the best Stats teacher around!!
I got owned by the cumulative final. The class starts out easy, but the material piles on as the course progresses. Do the homework and attend class, you should be fine. If you need help, e-mail or ask to talk to her. She is helpful and accommodating, but make sure you know what you need her to explain to you because there's a lot of material. :)
I really like her. I always look forward to her class. Her lectures are never boring. Really friendly and nice! She made math much more interesting. Please take her class. ;)
GREAT teacher. If you are responsible and hardworking, I strongly suggest you take her class. It is not hard to get an A, if you do all of the homework and review them. She is really good with partial credit. Her lectures are always clear, and never boring.
good teacher. shes nice and pretty helpful. you have to go to every class tho or you will be screwed!shes one of those teachers whos really condescendingly nice, but she gets the concepts across. DONT buy the text book, its a waste of money, all the hw is online, just get the online book.
Clear lectures and good personality. Pretty willing to help if you good to her office hours. I do think her tests are simple though...because i study a lot i guess?
A very helpful teacher. She teach the concept clear. Although she has homework every week, she give let you hand in the homework any time on the due date. The questions in her tests and exams are largely similar to what she taught in the lesson. If you attend the classes, you must know how to do them as her instruction is so clear.
Do not take this teacher; She's condesending, mean, rude, un-helpful, arrogant. I've never done badly in a math class before this one. Students beware!
she shouts and yells at students to "drop your pencils NNNNNOOOOWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!" after quizzes. She treats people like little kids. Maybe she should just teach the easy classes like math 10.
But it was only fantasy. The wall was too high, As you can see. No matter how he tried, He could not break free. And the worms ate into his brain. -Pink Floyd and yes this describes her. She enjoys being a barrier and a wall against growth rather than inspiring students to excel. I feel like throwing up when I see her.
She does a good job explaining, always provides some kind of background fundamentals before teaching the material. And she makes weird joke and hisses at people. It's pretty funny. Generous in giving points on midterms if you can somehow show something related.
Straightforward material, thoughtful lectures done on a board and not from a ridiculous survival guide, encourages class to get help, fair tests. My only issue in all the class was the amount of time allowed for tests; it was pretty tight for me, but maybe I could have studied harder. Labs are challenging but important to understand. Great teacher.
she is a good teacher. she explains clearly. her tests is similar with homework, maybe just 1 suprising problem each tests. she doesnt use book. but, she will tell u to use calculator to solve all the the problem which can be solved with calculator! u can bring notes to exams n finals!
She is usually clear in her teaching style. homework is pretty easy but the workload is a lot. the quiz and midterms are ridiculous. the problems that she puts on the test are ten times harder than the homework. she'll add on another element to the problem that you've never tackled before. she also doesn't give enough time on the test.
Gives very clear cut notes; talks fast; quiz & take home hwk due every other week; 2-3 webassign hwk due every week; not enough time usually on quiz/tests; all test problems come from hwk/quiz/notes; allowed to take notes into test/quiz; explains VERY well but her tests are hard, but gives a LOT of partial credit; B is easy to get, A is really hard
well it is good to see she is leaving herself comments still...how many people would truly say "lectures are very clear" unless it was the same person doing it....good job marnie, way to go with leaving yourself feedback
I took this course only because it was mandatory. I had no interest in it at all. The prof was so cold with all unfriendliness, and the class was way too tough to understand. I have already finished this class, but I forgot everything because it was so unbelievably boring. The only thing I got by taking this class is a grade on my transcript.
Marnie is THE BEST teacher at FH for Statistics. She uses lecture notes to lead the class lectures & tests directly from these notes. Shes always willing to help you outside of class and lets you bring notes into quizzes/tests! She has very reasonable expectations & is a very fair grader. Do HW, study lecture notes, ask for help, & you'll do great!
she is really obsessed with herself. She is the type of second rate person you'd find teaching classes at a junior college.
Although I failed her Calc 1A course, I do not blame her one bit for this. It was all my own doing. That said, if you are going to take Calc. at Foothill, take it with her. She explains everything clearly. Note:Textbook is never used do NOT buy it,use any E-book and sol.manual from the net. for ref.
She is very organized, explains everything very clearly, and she doesn't waste your time one bit.Her class is def. not easy though. BUT I assure you'll learn so much from her at the end that you wont regret taking her. Just keep working hard and you'll do good! You'll literally cry happy tears when you see that A in your transcript - I know I did. :)
Worst teacher ever...Did not explain the homework at all, all of her quizzes were from previous week's material confusing and boring
badd.
stay away from this prof if you want to keep your 4.0 gpa.
Her quizzes & tests come exactly from the homework and notes. Make sure to study every problem. There are 4 or so projects (problems to solve) out of class. She gives lots of partial credit for problems. She's not very friendly as a teacher and she really puts a major time constraint on exams/quiz so dont take your time. Replaces 1 midterm w final.
stats was a piece of cake, but 1C is a different story. tests were extremely difficult and heavy webassign work. good luck!
not a good professor. does not explain things clearly and final is worth too much of your grade.
quizes every two weeks and they are pretty much the same of the material covered in class.overall the class is not difficult as long as you pay attention in class. However, she trapped us a bit in final.
Marnie was honestly one of the BEST teachers I've taken at foothill. She PHYSICALLY writes down ALL the notes. All u have to do is study the notes, and you are covered for the tests and quizzes. A lot of webassign, but again, its helpful. PAY ATTENTION, GO TO CLASS. Its simple. I got Cs in 1A and 1B, but pulled a B in her 1C class. She's AMAZING!
If you come to every class, print out the lecture notes, and write down all examples given, you will AT LEAST attain a B in this class. The tests are hard, and no extra credit is given, however if you really want to take the class to truly UNDERSTAND the material, take her. Very detailed teacher in her explanations. The online homeworks help.
She knows exactly what she's talking about and is able to very clearly help to understand. Rather than using the book, she recommends printing out this packed that you use to follow along for even BETTER understanding! It REALLY helps! She doesn't grade on curves, so she's difficult in that sense, but she'll help you out if you need it.
She had enthusiasms in teaching. But I remember she did not even REVIEW her tests after we got back our exams. How did she expect students to succeed without letting students know the correct answers to the problems? And the exams were hard...got to make sure students could learn from them rather than just gave them a score!
Stats in general is a hard class, but Marnie is very clear and explains things extremely well. She has note packets you can print out, quizzes every friday(questions are taken from notes or homework).Exams are difficult and you will leave class feeling like you failed them, but she gives SO much partial credit.lets you take notes to quizzes and exams
this professor's exam is so hard as if she thinks we are all genius but we are not. All the people taking this class are idiots including myself. Yes, her teaching is good but its not that important cuz you can read the book. The whole point is whether you can get a good grade not how good her teaching is. Worst decision making to take this class.
This professor doesn't give extra credit. Only a pathetic 6 pts over thousands pts of whole course. And you only get it if you do all the questions right. Always deducts pts from some minor mistakes which other professor won't. The difference of knowing or not knowing how to do a 10 pts questions is only 3-4pts cuz of the ridiculous deductions.
I liked professor Francisco's clarity. She knows the material and is pretty helpful when you go to her office hours. I feel she's the best 1B teacher, as I've had experience with two others :P
Compare her exam with other professor then u will see her exam is way harder, like completely different level. Had A in 1B but only C in this class with even more effort. Real hard. Real regret taking this class. Don't make the mistake that we made and fail like us, or u will be as regret as we are. The smart move here is to take another professor.
My friend warns me about this prof. but I wouldnt listen. Had A thru all quarter but only a C after the final. I got A in 1A and 1B but not this one. Blow my only chance of going to Berkeley. I wish I listen to other ppl's advice. Now I can only bear the consequences.
Taking Math 1C with Marnee was one of the worst "educational" experiences I've had. I have a degree already and wanted to take the class as a refresher. Marnee focuses her teaching and testing on problems that reward arithmetic and memorization skills - not mathematical understanding. She herself didn't seem to grasp some of the deeper meaning.
I understand she is a good stats teacher, horrible for everything else. Cares so little about her students. Doesn't even attempt to learn their names. I loved math and this ruined it. Tests and quizzes are hecka hard and she doesn't let enough time for them. My GPA is going to go down. Online HW is mandatory. She goes way to fast in class.
3 time taking stats, helped a lot. Breaks down concepts easily. Goes fast but if you go in to see her she will help anyone. Just buy access code for book, since it is online. Stay on top of everything because she goes very fast DO NOT MISS ONE DAY OF CLASS.
She's very picky on how she wants answers worded / written on quizzes and tests so it's wise to attend her lectures; otherwise, you'll end up having nickel and dime points taken away from you. I stopped using the textbook because it wasn't useful; the handouts with example problems are much easier to use. Know the formulas and concepts!
After taking this class I realize that most of the other math professor's class is easier and better than hers. She likes to tell some jokes in class but most of the time, shes the only one laughing, which creates an awkward atmosphere. sometimes we had to laugh with her just to be polite. This often distracts people from learning useful materials.
she is a very angry person. She will talk about how she couldn't pass a summer school math class and she is just a gate keeper. Foothill would be better off without her and her constant bragging about her husband who is a stanford professor.
Statistics was pretty hard for me conceptually, but I ended up with a B. Marnie is generous with partial credit on tests and quizzes, and she lets you use notes as well. There is a group project at the end of the course, which helped my grade out a lot. Online HW was easy (80% average for 100% grade), and she drops lowest quiz score.
She's a great teacher! She makes sure she explains each problem for everyone to understand! The quizzes aren't tricky, problems are similar to the ones we did in class. The exams though were tricky, but she gives a lot of partial credit!
Her lectures were very clear. I had no trouble at all understanding the material. She's a bit picky when it comes to showing your work on exams, but she tells you what she wants to see. Her quizzes were all very easy, but her tests were more difficult. You're allowed to use a page of notes on them though, if I remember correctly, so don't worry.
Prof Marnie's class is quite easy if you go to class and listen to the lectures. There is no surprise in the exams of quizzes, it is very similar to the lectures that we have covered in class. She is always there if you need any help in statistic. Take her for sure!
She is always busy, if you already know a lot of this topic then take the class with this teacher. She goes super fast.
Ms. Francisco is a fantastic teacher. She makes everything easy to understand and she is great at answering questions. I would certainly take her again if I ever get that option again. If you are afraid of stats, take her!!
Knows what she's doing... exams similar to what we do in class so don't skip it and make sure you take notes.. quiz every week (drop the lowest one) almost exactly the same than in her lectures ... gives a lot of partial credit so don't leave your paper empty. .. would take again
If you have to take statistics, make sure you're in her class!!!! She doesn't teach directly from the textbook, but rather creates her own worksheets with simpler terms. You only need the book for HW. If you miss class and math isn't your strong suit, you'll fall behind fast.
Marnie's great at helping students and is willing to re-explain concepts during class or the break. Her stats class is straight forward and everything follows the class schedule she hands out; there were no surprisespop quizes. Testsquizes are exactly what is gone over in class. She teaches the material well and her laugh is contagious. Take her!
Super good at teaching, easily one of the most down to earth professors at Foothill! Only assigns one homework problem per week, quizzes and exams based on her notes only. Don't bother buying the book since it's only used for hw, which she lets you take pictures of in class. PLUS, her laugh is ADORABLE.
She gives an outline for notes so I would recommend printing them out. The class is mainly notes and a lot is covered daily, so I wouldn't recommend missing a day of class. There are weekly quizzes but they aren't difficult, if you know what you're doing. You are allowed a note card for quizzes and a page for exams.
She gives an outline for notes so I would recommend printing them out. The class is mainly notes and a lot is covered daily, so I wouldn't recommend missing a day of class. There are weekly quizzes but they aren't difficult, you're allowed a note card for quizzes and a page for exams. Her class is easy, just a lot of work. Homework is weekly.
The quizzes and homework are pretty easy as long as you went to the lecture that covered it. She covers a lot in one lecture, so the only hard part about the class is keeping up with all the information. But if practice problems from the textbook was done in between each lecture, then it should not be a problem.
Her lectures are your key to doing well. Print out her notes and bring them to class everyday. Her quiz and test questions are almost mirror images on problems from the lecture notes. Go to class, then it's easy. You can bring notes to tests and quizzes. One homework problem due every week. One group project, but it's easy. Drops lowest quiz.
I am absolutely TERRIBLE at math, and I managed to pass on my first try. She's definitely willing to help you if you ask for it.
She allows note cards on quizzes and tests (finals included). She assigns one problem for homework, but they're typically pretty long. Don't hesitate to ask for help if you need it! She's willing to help her students and provide a well through explanation. Didn't buy a textbook. Went to the library and took a picture of the problem to save money.
Hardest class I've ever taken but learned a lot not from the course material but from the difficulty of the class. I nearly failed but barely made it out alive with a C. She cares for her students learning so be ready to work for a passing grade. She's pretty simple when it comes to grading and she's always willing to answer questions.
Slightly eccentric but a good teacher. Show up to class, pay attention, and take notes, you'll do fine. I aced the class without buying the textbook. Just take a picture of the assigned homework from the teacher's book and save your money.
Marnie is a really good teacher, slightly eccentric, teaches super fast. Has blank notes for you to print to follow along with class that were super helpful. She crams a lot of information into the quarter and the online work only semi-coincides with how she teaches and grades specifically based on how she teaches, not by examples given online.
If you attened class and take down all the notes you should be fine. She lets you us a 3x5 card of notes for quizzes which can be helpful. She makes the material clear so you understand it. The class does move at a fast pace but its manageable. I found Mrs. Francisco to be an amazing teacher, willing to help you with any questiond you might have.
Really good teacher. She does cover material quickly, but has the lecture notes available online beforehand which makes it easier to follow along. I do not recommend skipping this class as a lot of material is covered each lecture. The tests and quizzes are based off lectures and the examples she gives in class. Homework is given weekly.
I really liked having this teacher. Her lectures were very helpful and she even quickly goes over lower level math skills needed (like a refresher before learning new material). I highly recommend taking this class because you will actually learn a lot. She cares for each individual student and wants everyone to succeed.
Marnie is an excellent teacher: she covers a lot of material quite fast, but if there's anything you didn't fully understand she'll be happy to help you out either through email or during her office hours. There's a lot of homework and quizzes (one every week!), but that honestly made studying for midterms and finals way easier than it usually is.
Snapish and short with the class. She also doesn't follow the department policy of not requiring a graphing calculator. She's not a particularly bad teacher, but she isn't a good one either.
Great person. Super intelligent. Kind and caring. Sometimes too quick with the material and she makes it way harder than it can be. Level of difficutly 5. Personality is amazing.
This professor is fantastic. Her lecture is amazing. You can learn a lot from her classes. Also, you can easy A. EASY A!!!
She's a good teacher but this is a time consuming class. Quiz every week. Two midterms and a final. There's homework due every week and a lot of it. She's a good teacher and has good notes/lecture. Final project. Three labs. She lets you use a notecard on each quiz. A paper on each midterm and final. I had to work hard for my B, don't miss class.
Such an amazing professor! She likes to write out notes and have it projected on the overhead. Her lectures are great, don't hesitate to ask questions if you don't understand something-- she'll go over it until you get it. There are online homework through Webassign and also written homeworks ( 5 written homework total). Taking her again for 48C!
1st year student & she's the best prof yet. Very understanding, caring, and really wants to help us understand. when she laughs it sounds like she has breathing problems. sweet, respectful & welcoming person. attendance is based on the homework you turn in. full paper of notes for finals. she's willing to answer Q's. dumb down 4 us. Very good
I love professor Marnie. She is very nice and kind. She explains the topic very well. We had 7 quizzes, 2 exams and one final. She gives very less homework and also gives extra credit. Take her if you really want to learn Math
Amazing professor! Marnie's class is a little bit fast-paced, but as long as you attend class and do all your homework, you will succeed! She allows a note card for quizzes/exams and a whole page for midterm and finals. She may seem intimidating, but she is extremely caring- don't be afraid to ask for help and ask questions!
Took this professor for pre-calculus 2, and she was amazing. She truly cares that her students learn and understand the material. Tests are based on lectures and homework. She does not take roll, but trust me, go to class if you want to do well! Highly recommend. She is well respected and liked among students.
Marnie is a great teacher and knows how to teach but her online homework and class don't exactly line up. The online assignments throw you off bc the answers are sometimes written differently. The textbook also has a different way of teaching the material so its sometimes confusing. She moves really fast in lectures, so make sure to pay attention.
Her midterms are hard. She asks every single detail that she does in class. So you really need to study for the whole thing. Her quizzes are easy. She gives a lot of points for doing homework so make sure to get good grades in hw.
Teaches a fast-paced class, but clearly wants everyone to pass. The one group project is the hardest part, so start early. Both online and written homework; written homework is easy, but she makes you write a lot about what you did on it for some reason. Two labs involve using Excel. Helped me with technological problems. Had a really helpful TA.
Professor Francisco is so friendly with a clear teaching voice and makes lectures interesting eg using poker cards to explain probability. She does grade rather strictly on midterms and final, eg if you forget to write the formula you are using she deducts 10 points out of 150 points. If you shade the wrong side on diagram she minuses 2 points.
I absolutely hate math because I can never understand it. Marnie made it really fun, and gave us a few different ways to learn things as well. It was supposed to be an in person class, but changed to online. She's really understanding and wants you to pass and understand math!
Nice professor that takes time to explain everything if you need help.
The class was really demanding considering the pandemic. We still had to do a project outside of class. 12 weeks is not enough when she covers so much material that its super easy to get confused. Get ready to study every night before class because the first thing you do after she teaches new material is a 30 point test 2x a week. Shes nice.
Professor Francisco is always there to help me if I have questions; she always answers me as quickly as possible. Great math professor, her teaching model is precise and disciplined. I recommend everyone to try her math class. Although math is not easy, she can help you learn better.
This professor was amazing. Her lessons were straightforward and always gave us time to complete our homework at the end of class so that we could ask questions and fix our incorrect answers. Beware there's a long line to get your question answered, but she also offers flexible office hours.
She cares for her students and wants to see them succeed. The lessons were very clear each day. The only thing I would say is that the class was little bit assessment-heavy. Total number of assessments(open note): 7 quizzes(some were on Monday), 2 exams and a final. I would say just stick with quizzes and a final. Becomes too much if you do both.
She is a fantastic instructor, very accessible during office hours, and is somewhat of an easy grader. The only thing I didn't like was the huge amount of online homework, the textbook was over $100, and the pace of the class was too quick. I didn't have time to learn and process everything before the next lecture.
Lectures majority of class period but offers roughly 45 minutes of HW help during scheduled class time. Grade based only on HW, quizzes, and exams. HW due before each class period, usually only one or two questions. No super tricky questions on quiz/exams, allows note cards for both. Grades all assignments usually within 24-48 hours.
One of my favorite teachers at Foothill! Lectures are great and easy to follow. Her canvas and teaching style is very organized. Weekly quizzes follow lectures and homework. Homework graded on accuracy - can correct before class in office hours. She provides keys after exams/quizzes and grades fast. I love the way she explains concepts!
extremely tough grading scale. although she's good at teaching and is very accessible outside class, i wouldnt recommend anyone to take her class
She is a great professor! Really passionate about math and that kinda inspires me also. The quizzes are easy overall but the exams might be a little bit harder than the quizzes. Just study the problems from her lecture&hw. Also check your homework with her before you submit it, then you'll be fine!
The greatest strengths of Marnie's teaching style are: 1) she is incredibly consistent in her outreach to students and is almost always accessible outside of class; 2) she is accommodating (she is dyslexic herself); 3) she is well organized and; 4) you know what to expect going into her exams. Doesn't grade on a curve. Willing to help students!
Professor Marnie is great - she cares about students and explains concepts clearly. The workload is manageable, with quizzes, exams, and a final. unstuckstudy was a lifesaver for study prep.
Marnie is a pretty underrated professor. She comes off as passive sometimes but she really cares about her students. The hw was so easy and the tests aren't too bad but she can be a tough grader so check in with her at office hours to make sure she will accept your work, especially for the hw. Overall, I would recommend her.
Best math teacher I've ever had. She's kind, explains things clearly, and truly cares about her students. It's my second time taking her MPS class, and I love it. Class runs Monday–Thursday, but it's worth it. The homework and in-class work prepare you for quizzes and exams. Group quizzes and a cheat sheet for exams are a huge help.
