Very nice lady but extremely tough in terms of giving assignments and reading. Best way to approach the readings is to read only the important bits and divide the rest among your group members. Also gives weekly quizzes. Apart from that good prof and great lecturer. Would recommend.

There needs to be more accountability from the staff running this course. After receiving a low mark of B, and discussing with some groups, it is apparent they did not read many parts of the report. The staff would also be difficult in replies and give conflicting "suggestions". I recommend trying to "get on the good side" future students.

This is probably the worst class ive taken through my entire degree. Marnie asks us to watch the pre lecture videos, which is just her reading slides without adding anything more. Prof Jamieson does a "flipped class" model which she wrote about in one of her papers, accessible online if you want to learn more. Looking at the RMP score before and after the model was implemented, the consensus seems to be that it has not worked. Still, could be worse. Gossipy, so a wily student can use a little charisma to get on her good side

Marnie needs to stop taking herself so seriously. Just because you have a giant house and a Phd doesn't mean you know how to make a good engineering course. Engg160, while not difficult, was way too time consuming than it needed to be. "Regrets"

I became depressed as a result of this teacher. Quizzes are so ridiculous. They don't know how to put crap together. If you are a new student taking Engg 160 the following year, don't waste your time and do minimum work for this subject. Try using the PhD to actually change things rather than just to type emails on it.

When you 'accidentally' release the home sweet home badge just to take it away, send another ridiculously un-concise email saying sike, and then proceed to instead erase the data of everyone's completed quiz 1 :/

Engg 160 has so much potential to be a really great class, but Marnie ruined it for everyone. The eclass is a mess, the concept of badges is stupid, and double proctored quizzes?!?! for a CR/NC course?!? I was looking forward to actually learning something that could very well help my career but naw. Its a waste of your precious engg time.

I have nothing but profane and derogatory things to say about this Lich queen. She's deadset on harvesting and douring the souls of first year eng. She teaches from the bog or creek where her coven lives. I hope she's fired.

The Eclass page is a maze that has no exit. The amount of work required for this pass/fail course is astronomical. The complete disconnect between professor and students reminds me Michael Scott.

The eclass page was a complete mess, completely unorganized. Absolutely no transparency in any correspondence between students and the prof. Use of invasive proctoring software for quizzes in a CR/NCR course. Absolute mess of a class in its totality under their management.

eclass page is poorly setup, all the assignments are hidden in between tons of reading you need to do. Open book online quizzes require you to install monitoring software which is questionable as its a credit/no-credit class, no other class in 1st year engineering does this. overall very poorly ran course

This class was awful. So much work just for a pass fail credit credit. SEM was extremely annoying to use, and alongside her passive aggressive emails she sent out almost everyday.

Marnie DOES NOT know how to use Eclass, quizzes are badly explained and randomly change on the security protocol to complete. She decided to delete half the classes quiz grades on a Friday night just for fun. Badge system is confusing and impossible to keep track of, online quizzes are needlessly secure and invasive. engg 160 is 1984.

"Regrets." yes, you heard her right, just that in a sentence. Messy eClass, poorly executed gamification. Her position as course co-ordinator was essentially unneeded, and she took away the opportunity from four other professors. If you're going to end up teaching all the lectures anway why not just make yourself formally in charge of all sections.

These firsties are disrespectful...Newsflash: who asked? This is the worst course you will take in first year thanks to Marnie. The next first years better pray that Marnie doesn't find a way to make the course even worse than it already is. Also be prepared for literally 1984 style dictatorship, all those who voice their opinion are ignored/banned.

Engg 160 has the potential to be a interesting and engaging class. However, the way Marnie has set up this course is a disaster as everything is super disorganized and messy on the eclass. It is very hard to tell what you need to know in order to pass, and the badges are just overcomplicated. She also spams emails which are hard to understand.

While this credit/no credit course should be an easy and enjoyable class compared to the rest of first year engineering courses, Marnie makes the course harder and more tedious than it should be. You need to use SEM and ExamLock for every single test, made up of useless made up content you don't need to know.

Marnie Jamison is not completely unreasonable. She is slow at answering emails and has structured the course poorly but if you email her respectfully and with lots of time she will almost always help you out. However, at the end of my first year, this is the ONLY class to make me cry, break down and question my degree.
