Dr. Phipps is a good teacher. If you are willing to put in a little bit of effort and do all of your homework, the class should be easy for you. She's is really helpful one on one so don't be afraid to use her office hours! People on here must not try, because you would honestly have to make a conscious effort to not do well.

She's the best one I've had yet

She is an awesome teacher and perhaps the best math teacher I have ever had. She is very clear about what will be on the tests and they are usually very short. Make sure you do the webassigns and look over them because they are extremely helpful. If you do not understand something she will gladly go over anything with you. Take her!

I am a non-traditional English major who had to take College Algebra...for the third time. I am not a math person. Dr. Phipps had great ideas for teaching concepts and after some use of the online resources, I got a relative understanding of the material. I worked my butt off, but I felt good that I was finally able to understand what I was doing.

Sheesh, she wasn't the best but she wasn't that bad! All these people giving her bad ratings. She wasn't fantastic, but I liked her enough. Precalc isn't hard, this class was a breeze for me. Pretty decent teacher, don't be afraid to take her just cuz these people who gave bad ratings probably slacked in her class.

Dr. Phipps is a good teacher. Definitely good enough to be teaching high-school level math like percalc. I dont know why anyone would complain about her teaching since college students should usually already know most of the material anyways. Furthermore, the course content is easy and the webassigns teach you everything.

Dr. Phipps is extremely helpful and very sweet. Some topics can be unclear and not explained well but if you ask she will take the time to help further explain to you personally. She definitely knows what she is doing. I have really enjoyed her class.

VERY nice teacher, very helpful, and overall great class! There are usually assignments online on WebAssign, but the material is covered in class. She gives review sheets and review days before tests and makes lots of time for students to ask questions when needed. She responds quickly to e-mails and extends assignment deadlines if needed. TAKE HER

A very good and thorough teacher who helped you out every way she could. She let us have cheat sheets on every one of our tests (including our final) and made really good study guides. There's a bit of homework, but it's a math class. Just keep up with your WebAssigns and show up to class and you'll be fine.

Phipps is a wonderful professor. She may not provide the best clarity with her lessons, but she is very helpful, patient, and understanding. She will give you extra time to work on your MANY web assigns, and she will do whatever it takes to help you understand the material. I would definitely recommend her!

Professor Phipps is a great math teacher. She explains it really well. Overall her class was easy to pass. Her reviews help, same with the homework. The class seems to move fast with material, but she makes sure you know what you are doing.

Not an easy A. Won't cut you any slack or go easy on you. But will help you any time you ask. She will do everything she can to help you understand. Also, she even went to "higher power" to try to have another section of a course added for an MGED major class that didn't work with our schedules. THAT is caring!

Dr. Phipps is an amazing woman. She is caring and hilarious. She gives you many opportunities to earn extra credit but also challenges you to succeed! 10/10

Dr. Phipps is a great professor, she gives very clear feedback and clear expectations. You definitely have to work in this class. You do have a lot of homework, it is optional, but it helps you with the quizzes and tests. Either way, her class is a fun environment to be in it.

Dr. Phipps is amazing. She gives you a deeper understanding of math and how everything works. I had the privilege to take her MATH 3110 class as a short session summer class. In this class, you will need to do the homework and pay attention in class to pass. I will retake her if I get the chance.

Signing up for a summer short session of Informal Geometry seemed daunting and difficult, but Dr. Phipps made it exciting! I feel throughly prepared to enter my student teaching next year because she has equipped me to help ALL students. Lectures are hands-on and discussion based. I was able to build friendships with my classmates in her class!

Professor Phipps is a great professor. She isn't just going to give you a grade, you have to work for it. She does a great job letting you know what she expects from you from the get-go. When you miss a quiz/test question she will sit down and help you better understand it. I would recommend taking this class with professor Phipps. :)

Dr. Phipps takes her time to make sure that each student understands the material being learned. This class takes work at side of the classroom, but that work prepares you for the quizzes and projects. Dr. Phipps is always willing to listen to her students about anything that they do not understand. This class was worth taking!

Love Professor Phipps! This class (material) was one of the hardest classes I have taken thus far but with that being said, Professor Phipps does a great job making the class fun and bearable. Lots of quizzes but she does a great job preparing you. DO DO DO the homework even though it's not for a grade.

I really enjoyed Professor Phipps class. She will definitely make you think but if you're trying to become a teacher you'll appreciate her and her style of teaching. 10/10 would recommend and I most certainly would take her again. :)

I really learned a lot.

As a HS student I did poorly in math because my teachers didn't care and weren't accessible. Phipps is the exact opposite! Her lectures are clear and concise, & going into office hours has helped me so much. She is 100% willing to work with you if you show her the effort you are putting in. WebAssigns due every Sunday. Love her! Highly recommend!!

all of the homework is based off of the text book on web assign, you have 3 test and a final with a replacement grade. there's quizzes every Friday but most of the time she lets you do them at home or in class with a partner. if you have any questions she's flexible to answer to help. she super sweet and caring as well.

I had Professor Phipps for College Algebra and I did not see her class as difficult. While I am stronger in math, her teaching was not hard to follow. I would suggest to show up to class because you may miss material that could be difficult to learn on your own. Her tests are pretty easy and she sometimes offers extra credit on those tests.

I had Professor Phipps for College Algebra. She is not that difficult in my opinion. We had web assigns due every sunday night, but she would assign them weeks in advance. Her tests and quizzes aren't that difficult if you pay attention in class. I would go to class just so you don't have to teach yourself.

Math is not my strength but she does a good job of providing examples, answering questions, and showing how she does it step by step. If you don't already know the material the web assigns, lectures, and peer work all help. Her tests were hard for me to get A's but you can definitely pass them without much extra effort. She takes time to know you.

Shes great but if you take notes you wont hear her explaining the problems because she moves soo fast. Shes nice and caring but just moves very fast. this class is also a-lot like your high school math classes i didnt learn anything "new" just refreshed what i learned sophomore and junior year in high school .

Go to class, take notes, pay attention, and do the homework, you will be fine. Math is my best subject so this class was very easy for me. I recommend taking the short semester class if you enjoy math because it goes by quicker. She also allows students to use Desmos, which is an app that helps a lot and most other profs don't let you use it. 10/10

Typical math professor. There are 4 tests and a final along with weekly homework and occasional quizzes.

great class. if you enjoy math, this class will be easy. she assigns webassigns every two weeks and gives you a week or two to complete them. not hard, test questions are very similar to webbassigns. she gives a 2-question quiz every friday (the most simple questions). the final exam is meant to boost your grade.

Great Proffessor! Not sure why her rating is relatively low. Should honestly be a 5/5. Clear, entertaining lectures, pretty easy HW and quizzes, only 3 tests and a final. Pretty easy 2 part final. Would definitely recommend her.

Prof Phipps is underrated; she is there to teach and does it. She is willing to work with you, but she gives you many chances to give you a good grade. She is a sweet lady. She lets you use notecards on exams. beware she makes miscalculations on the board often.

This was probably the easiest math class I've ever taken. Algebra's my favorite, so I may be biased, but the work was easy and able to be done at mostly your own pace. We used an online program where you just had to do a certain amount of work each week based on the skills you already had. People seem to not like her, but I thought she was great.

Dr. Phipps's course was really interactive which was good for a visual learner like me. I enjoyed working in my group because it allowed for constructive learning. The math was hard since I did not grow up in the US system, but asking for help is not hard. I like that she let our class dictate what we worked on.
