A wonderful professor, exceptionally helpful and a pleasure being in her class

she's fake nice. does the job, but isn't spectacular by any means.

bad teacher, wouldn't recommend her if you had other choices
she is a total ****. tries to be funny during class but is not. she is not a good teacher. defenitly take julie johnston or others if possible.
Well she isn't a bad teacher, but defiantly isn't great.
Shes a good teacher all in all if your not lazy, has her own notes which is a great way to keep things clear.
WOW she is a horible teacher! damn I a glad I am not in her class anymore couldn't stand her.
Seems like she hates being a teacher, she put down students and insinuated we were stupid. was very unclear and didn't explain things well. had a very negative experience in her class.
She talks to her class with a very condescending tone of voice. She seems to have an attitude and doesn't enjoy her teaching all that much. She is quite clear on her teaching though.
her voice is kinda annoying and to me what she says just goes in one ear and out the other
If you're taking Math 095, you're not going to find ANY teacher easy.

so not hot
She is helpful if you ask but not very clear in class at all. I find it's because she explains things how she understands them. What she should do is try and put herself in the students shoes. You will definitely have to work hard to understand anything

Has great ways of explaining the solutions. Really tight grip on the material. Doesn't make mistakes. Very fast content coverage so do the extra homework!! I would take her again.
First time I saw her I thought she's a student. But anyways, she's a pretty nice teacher, fair tests. But whenever you ask for help she'd never give you the answer she wants you to do it by yourself. She doesn't like guys for sure? I don't think so cuz I'm a guy and I think she likes everyone.
She's very clear when teaching. Likes to get students to really understand what they're doing rather than just know a formula. Quizzes each week are on the homework, so make sure you do it! She doesn't expect ridiculous things from you, just to know the content. Very fair and will help students.
great teacher. Great notes. do your homework
she is a good marker for final, she might seems picky, but she will change for final. don't worry

she speaks so fast....all of us feel that.
marsha is a fairly good teacher. she gives half marks on everything. her notes very organised and clear. She is very helpful. over all good teacher
People seem to be blaming the teacher because they didn't do well which isn't fair. Marsha is a great teacher and she IS approachable and really helpful if u just ask. Thumbs up !!
Is a really good teacher and helped me out learning word problems. But from class work to homework to tests and quizes aren't as good. oh well overall a great teacher
Marsha does speak fast, but you get used to it quikly and she's really nice. No problems following her. Always knew what was going on. Funny, interesting, and approachable. Picky about notation, but very helpful overall
marsha is a great teacher. math and i don't get along easily. marsha makes makes so much more simpler and easier. i wish she was my highschool math teacher then i wouldnt have failed math 11!! overall, she is a good teacher and a nice person!
she was quite nice. I recomend her totally!
VEry hard tests. Gives half marks. approachable. eager. Nice teacher. good Humor
I like Marsha's notes, they're so helpful. She is always organized. Overall good teacher.
Marsha is very picky about notation. I've never had a teacher that is as picky as her. She seems to be extremely cocky when students ask her questions. Students are there to learn and ask questions. I personally do not like her attitude. Her exams are quite easy just remember your notation because she does take a lot of marks off.
Very nice, very approachable and she really explains topics well. She helped me out so many times when I was stuck. A+ for this prof !! I wish she taught 126.

hahaha...pay attention in the class and do your homework. Practise the old quizzies on her websites and you'll Ace your quizzies. This is like Math12 so it's not an easy course. :) She's so cute and too bad she has a boyfriend lolz
man~ look at all those "BABYISH" comments. IF you can't do math105, I suggest you go back to MATH 12 cuz college/university is not for kids. Marsha is a nice MATH teacher overall. She's hilarious sometimes but very serious when teaching. I found that her tests are really hard if you didn't study and/or do your homework.
Too smart for this class, doesn't realize that her students don't follow as fast as she teaches. Known to be a terrible teacher, but if you actually do your work she will reward you.
:) well organized...but her quizzes are pretty hard.
If you listen carefully during her lectures, you'll understand her pretty fast, although at times she does talk really fast.In order to do good on her tests, you got to understand the concepts in her notes. Before you write her tests/quizzes,go to her website & do those practice tests, quizzes. She's patient teaching something that you don't understan
With Marsha, you'll have fun only if you want to have fun. Math is for most people (including myself) pretty dry and boring but if you get her going, she will not cease to entertain. Quizes... definatly know what you're doing but there are no surprises; pretty straight forward
she is a good teacher.

Marsha is an energetic math lover! She tries to encourage you to enjoy math which is obviously tough but it keeps it interesting. She is always willing to help in the MLC. Her quizzes are often tough but exams arent quite as hard...if you keep up with the work you will do fine!
NO GOOD! She made students feel stupid for asking questions, and she made little comments towards students that were uncalled for. I dropped her class and advise others to take the course from another teacher.
boring
she is the worst teacher I ever had! she does not teach much, but expects you to know everything! she is not helpful, her classes are boring, her tests are killing, and she is just boring in general. Thank God i don't have to take her class again! would not recommend to anyone!
Avoid.
She is a good teacher~ very helpful
shes a really good teacher but calc I is very hard!
Well, firstly, I like Marsha! She tries to keep the class a mix of serious, while adding a bit of humour.I appreciated this, as I despise math! I liked her package, because it has all of her notes, and was a good study tool - attend all the classes so you can get these (they're fill-inable)! The weekly quizzes were annoying, but don't give up!!
Marsha is a great teacher, I don't know why her ratings are so low, I think it's because everyone else is a slacker. I didn't enjoy math before but after I took her class, I love it and am taking her next class.
her quizzes are 48757834578 times harder than what she teaches in class and what the textbook goes by, same goes for the midterm.
At first I found Marsha to be somewhat rough around the edges (sometimes even condescending!), but she definetly warms up to the class and usually has a good sense of humour with the class. Weekly/Daily quizes kept me on the ball, and I would have done much better had I studied or done homework.
Very good teacher but her personality is debatable. She treats eveyone like Harvard students and often makes fun of students and their questions. She is very sarcastic; nevertheless, it easy to do well in her class.
Marsha is my favourite math prof at Capilano University. She presents the subject clearly. She cares about her students and wants them to succeed. Her weekly quizzes are a good way to study for the exams continuously, prevent "slacking off", and accumulate a good grade.
She is deffinetly rough around the edges, VERY sarcastic and slightly condesending but she does warm up towards the end of the term. I would take her class again but that's partially becasue frank the other math teacher is horrible!
shes a decent teacher none the less but when it comes down to text book use and questions on the quizes/ tests shes impossible. the weekly quiz always has questions so much harder then you wouldve seen in class or in the textbook. goodluck
I personally think Marsha was fantastic. She is exponentially better than Frank Harris. She has tough quizzes/tests but they are fair and make you stay on top of your work. Try cramming a whole term of calc at the end of the term and see how that goes. Very helpful, and funny :-)
Calculus is new to me. When I approached Marsha for some direction on a specific question she treated me in an unprofessional and discourtious manner. The next time I approache her she was fine. Half the time you want to scream after speaking with her. Basically you are on your own. Marsha is a professor but not a communicator or teacher.
This is coming from a person who got an A in Math 12. I took Math 105 with marsha and got a C+. The next semester I took Math 108 with Julie Johnson and got a A-. Weird since Math 108 is apparently the next level of math, and I found 108 to be easier, and a very enjoyable math class. I hated 105 with Marsha. Avoid her if possible.
Awesome teacher! By far the best calculus teacher I have ever had. Dont get me wrong... shes hard but if you do all your work and put the effort in, you will do awesome. She is also the most organized teacher you will ever have, interms of correct notes, tutorials, and posted solutions. highly recommend! (=
Not a teacher you want if math doesn't come easy to you. She's extremely fast and doesn't spend much time explaining.
She is a good teacher and an easy one if you study!
her weekly quizzes are quite easy, but the midterm is really hard.
Very good, lecture notes, quizzes were reasonably fair. Somewhat demeaning. If u answer, a question wrong she will make u feel dum. Sarcastic, funny. exponentialy better than Frank Harris. Paces through the aisles while your writing your test, (kind of distracting)
Great teacher! If your goal is to learn Calculus I, this is the prof for you. Very organized and very fair. Yes it is true, she is big on proper notation but that is because it is very important. However, she can be generous on her exams and quizzes as well. She will correct your notatoin on your quiz and exam but not deduct marks for it.
not good at all. she is same at the other math teacher. not willing to help at all
She is a HARD MARKER and the thing is she brags about it. She is not bad on teaching but she asks question she doesn't teach and if you do not solve the problems in her way, she takes away some marks.
Nice enough, and is a good teacher, but tests and (weekly) quizzes are very hard. I looked at the other instructors' quizzes and Marsha's quizzes are like 5x harder than theirs. Also will write in red all over your paper for notation and small mistakes.
I had Marsha for both 105 and 116. She is so much better than a lot of the math instructors at Capilano. She actually tells you what you did wrong. However, she is especially picky when it comes to notations. Best of luck!
Self study is the key. Don't expect any helpful response to questions. Avoid.
Good teacher there is no doubt about that. def able to explain what she is teaching and I like her organization. Weekly quizes in morning block instead of noon is questionable, mark would be atleast 15% higher, but w/e. want to learn calculas take her..
Good teacher, weekly quizes in the morning block is questionable tho. if you want to learn calculas take her class her organization great.
She doesn't exactly come off as friendly but she warms up throughout the course - you can tell she wants her students to do well. Very organized and definitely knows what she's doing, but she moves quickly so make sure you keep up.
very good, clearly outlined, easily accessable.
Marsha is a bit scary at first but she is actually very nice, and funny. The math department in general is pretty tough with marking, so if you have trouble in math, you have to work very hard, or you might fail. She warns you of that inthe beginning.
Very fast teaching, not very helpful. Her notes are very good and everything is clear, make sure you do your homework and the practices or you will fail as she will not slow down.
Very organized instructor. You HAVE to attend every single class in order to follow all materials. I actually like the idea of having quiz every week because this course is pretty heavy and you can't leave it for last minute to catch up. Pretty difficult Course eventhough I like math but I recommend her as your instructor
Marsha is a good teacher when it comes to calculus. However, the topic at hand is very difficult to grasp, and self study plays a big role in doing well. Her notes and lectures are pretty informative. As far as her quizzes, they were pretty fair; she tends to ask easy as well as some hard questions. Watch your notation!
She is GOOD! Math is hard if you don't practice. Marsha gives a bunch of practice exercise and she gives extra example in class. She gives clear explanation. I simply loved her way of teaching.
She gives off that old cat lady vibe but she's actually really cute. As long as you do the homework and attend every class you'll get a good mark. Some test questions are tricky but doable if you also go on her website and do the quizzes.
Marsha is literally the best math teacher I've ever had. She's very clear in her teaching, and helps you if you're stuck! She took the time to go over a whole quiz with me that I failed, and I ended up doing pretty well in her course because of the extra help she provided. I hope to get her in future math courses!
Best prof I've ever had at cap! If you attend and put in some work you'll love it. i don't even like math....
Math is tough and discouraging for me. Having a teacher take a happy-go-lucky attitude towards it, keeping things light, kept the whole course from being a total nightmare despite the nearly overwhelming subject.
Attendance is mandatory because her notes are crucial to understanding the course. Great sense of humour that keeps the lectures light-hearted. The course requires a lot of time studying at home or in the Math Learning Center. Her quizzes are hard, but good to have as they make sure you keep up with the material
Calc is a hard course. It helps to have a prof that actually seems to care about how well the students are doing. As long as you practice the tutorials and take really great notes, it's not bad. The midterms are extremely tough, so it's important you completely understand the material. Make sure you see her a lot in the MLC.
HORRIBLE teacher, her tests are so much different and difficult than what she teaches in class. She doesnt even give out practice tests like the other profs. Bad prof.
Marsha is awesome. Not only is she by far the best math instructor at Capilano University but she is a very approachable person outside of class. Do take advantage of her hours outside of class and she will help you to her full capability. She might seem scary at first but that's due to her harsh, "real" humour. I actually like calc because of her.
Marsha is the best prof Ive ever had. Shes super helpful outside of class and gives clear explanations. Dont really get the bad reviews on her here, probably bitter students that are too lazy to actually study the material outside of class to get a decent grade.
Had marsha for calc 2 and im really glad I did. She's an amazing teacher with great notes and she's more than willing to help you outside of class. Calc 2 is a very hard course but if you work for it you'll be rewarded with her!
I have taken almost all math courses with her, and enjoyed every single lecture. There is a bit of material but if you put effort into it, you will enjoy taking math with her. As well, If she is not in the office, she is usually in the math study room for any additional help. Highly recommend Marsha Anderson.
Really wants you to do well in her courses. Very thorough in her explanations. If you do the course work that she gives you, and see her out of lecture hours (very accessible) for help when you need it, then you will do well. Also funny as hell.
She has quizzes once a week. She goes over all types of questions that show up on her exams. She genuinely wants everyone to do well. However, she's a tough marker. The textbook was not used at all in my experience.
Super good at explaining math (I've had my share of bad profs that can't explain anything) Beware she is a very tough grader. Takes off a lot of marks for the little things.
Marsha is an awesome math instructor! She is so caring and her classes aren't boring at all. I learned a lot from her classes. She takes quizzes every week which makes us read and keep following up with the material. There is a 5% class activity grade which is really important to her. She also omits 2 of your bad grades which is great!
Makes your foundation stronger and has a great understanding of your problems.
Whatever you are reading here is false. Marsha isn't a good teacher, she has favourites in her class and is often very rude to the students that are not achieving a high grade. This prof does not want her students to achieve a high mark nor does she give help. She marks hard on her quizzes/midterms especially if it is not written in her way.
Currently taking Math with the prof, and do not recommend it. Her notes are not clear to follow. Does not seems to care about her students understanding the material. Seems too uptight, and expects you to learn on your own.
She's one of the goats. All these people complaining should see what Calc 2 is like when you don't have a great teacher like Marsha. I transferred to UBC engineering after a year at cap and I easily say Marsha did a far superior over the 6 math profs Ive had at UBC so far.
Marsha made this class the hardest class I have ever taken. I am unsure if a single person passed her class this semester due to her making every single test and quiz incredibly difficult, along with a lack of in-depth discussion on topics and then testing us on the most challenging questions. She needs to take a sabbatical ASAP
Would not recommend. Unregister from her class if you can before you risk your grade. I was not impressed with her teaching skills because it was not clear and it had to be done by the method she used. Just a complete no.
Not impressed with the the profs teaching style. She made it difficult to learn the contexts in this course and succeeded in making me hate math. I have to retake this course next term or in the summer because of the low grade Marsha gave me. Register with any other prof that is available. DO NOT take any math courses with Marsha, save yourself.
I wish I could drop this course, but dont want to end up with a W on my transcript. Im not a fan of how she wants us to follow her ways of writing linear Algebra. Marsha comes off as being rude and not supportive while teaching. I recommend avoid the prof in any future courses.
Tough class, tough prof, but Marsha actually CARES about you if you're trying (even in online class). She's not going to lower her standards, but she will help you build up your skills to get there. Instead of just giving answers, she walks thru how to THINK about problems and is incredibly patient in office hours despite her tone of voice in class
She is extremely difficult. The exams are impossible! Yes she is available if you need help but it doesn't make a difference when the exam material is all brand new and you see it for the first time on the exam.
She likes to just dump dozens of theorems and definitions on you each class. It makes the class extremely dry, and unless you're a math prodigy, it's very difficult to follow along. This was by far the hardest class I've taken. Exams were disgustingly difficult and she justifies this by having the exam 'open book' (as if that even helps).
Great Prof. She's got a sense of humor, but it stops being funny after her first test. Reaaaly hard tests. Be very ready for her tests if you had no other option than taking her classes.
Really enjoyed Marsha's class, although it was quite difficult. She is a very detail oriented grader so keep that in mind when preparing for weekly quizzes. Also would recommend doing a detailed review of pre calc concepts if you haven't taken a pre-req math course very recently because she does no in class review and expects you to know it all.
Her sense of humour is snarky and humiliating, she does not inspire one to learn. Her tests are not reflective of course notes nor textbook excercises, and her grading scheme is incredibly harsh. Do not expect part marks. Avoid her if at all possible.
Five 60 minute tests is nonsensical. Even worse, you are forced to sit through a 20 minute lecture after each test. The real kicked is when you get to the end of term and there are two classes of review. Everyone would have done better if they had had more time on the tests and didn't learn a lecture and a half worth of material in its place.
By far the worst professor I've ever had, if I were to go back I would have taken my transfer program at a different school because of her class. Difficulty of test material and time given for the amount of questions asked was completely unrealistic. Grade was based entirely on tests and marks were taken off for any imperfections in any notation.
She's okay.
