Very easy going teacher, with lots of knowledge of the subject matter. She makes a boring subject as interesting as possible. Class was mandatory for my major and i think all majors at john jay. So, i would hihgly advise taking this professor for this class. Plus, she pretty good looking with a cute southern accent.

It is very hard to get less than a A- in her class. She gives you so many chances, you can even plead for a question you thought was unfair. Very easy-going, she's great and wierd but funny.

Excellent Professor

She's a real life "Southern Belle." A cross between a skinner "Delta Burke" and "Crystal Gale." She'll transform any anti-social personality type into a beautiful butterfly.

Dr. Clowers is a hilarous prof. who alwayz got stories to tell & keepz the class interesting. Plus she makes u feel comfortable speakin infront of the class especially if ur shy (like me)

She is a very easy teacher. If you fail her class, you must be really lazy. She is funny and crazy so be ready. She doesn't like the sun and always has a sippy cup. SHE WILL KEEP YOU ON EDGE! She was absent a lot and required ten journals be due by the end of the semester. Journals were about u and you have a whole semester...simple. 3speechs real easy. I wanted to avoid speech class and always got F's for oral presentations in H.S. I got B+ in her class.

Doc Clowers is awesome! Everyone becomes nervous when it comes to speechs, but she makes the subject fun and interesting. More importantly, she views the speech outline ahead of time, to improve it and to get a beter grade! Even when her life started to crumble, she still managed to be funny and cool! It is impossible to fail her class or get anything below an "A". 3 Speeches (2 informative, 1 persuasive) makes up 70% of your grade already. Just do the speech and you'll do fine. She grades leniently on your speeches. You have to also write 10 journals, take the midterm and final as well as "unannounced quizzes" which she tells you when they are.

Dr. Clowers gets sidetrack a lot, we hardly used the book, she tells you exactly what to study for the midterm(Helps during test). Only 4 speeches, 1 is not grades, 2 informative, 1 persuasive. I like her outline structure. The final was 25 question prepared by dept. but she gives a review sheet. She's awesome! Would recommend & take her again.

One of the best professors in the Communication department. She got very ill this semester and was out so we had to deal with a crazy sub. But, if she's available next semester book her class. You won't regret it. Very caring and helpful and if you need help with speech outlines, she's always accessible out of class. Take her!!!!!!

She's beyond amazing. I really miss her and I would definitely take another class with her again. She got very ill in the Fall semester and was absent for the rest of the semester and we had to deal with a crazy sub with a bad attitude. Dr. Clowers is by far the best professor at John Jay. The class is super easy, though it can be stressful if youre anxious about public speaking. But she creates an environment where you wont feel scared or uncomfortable during your presentation. Shes also hilarious! Shes naturally funny. Youre literally missing out if you dont take her!

Clowers is fantastic! Clear grading criteria. She also understands how anxiety-inducing public speaking can be, and helps you find your comfort zone. However, she does not tolerate nonsense, and has no problem calling out slackers.

She is such an amazing professor, gives feedbacks to improve your work for future. She has a few speeches you need to present, which are extremely easy, and the 2 tests, midterm and final are very clear and easy if you pay attention to lectures. Also, she gives out free stuff to take home.

1 group speech on a topic that matters to your group. She will check your speech outline as many times as you want. One 2-page reflection paper on working with your group. 5 journals on anything. There are 3 exams all easy. You don't need to read the textbook just pay attention to what she says in class and go to the review days before the exams.

two days for class but she ends up ending class early. she very nice and gives good feedback, she is accessible outside of class too. It's true that she does get off-topic a lot. but her class isn't hard. 3 speeches and two exams that don't even affect your grade at all. she cares more about the speeches. the book isn't required as much.

This is the class to take if you want an easy A. I took this class twice but that was because I didnt hand in speeches the first time. No matter how bad your work is, as long as you present the three easy speeches and hand in the couple questions midterm and final, I PROMISE YOULL GET AN A!!!! But you wont learn much lol

I definitely recommend taking a class with Professor Clowers. Her communications class is an easy A if you stay on track, which is really easy to do because there aren't many assignments and she gives students great feedback as well as extended days for speeches. It is true she goes off track often but this isn't a lecture class.

I really enjoyed taking Professor Clowers class. She is a very funny teacher, and she is beyond understanding to her students. There are only 3 major speeches which she gives you a lot of feedback on, and her tests are available for about a week or so. The downside, is that she gets off track easily and you have to keep track of what she is saying

This class is definitely an easy A. Dr.Clowers does not require much, just five speeches (three of which are graded), a midterm and a final exam. She makes you feel super comfortable and she's so sweet. Do not take her kindness for granted! She is easily accessible outside of class too. Take her!

This was her last sem online so she will be going back in person at JJ but she is a caring professor. 2 easy tests and 3 speeches. It is very easy and straightforward if you pay attention to her direction. If you are having a problem talk to her. She cares about her students. Prof. Clowers makes this class a breeze with just 3 speeches and 2 exams. She's super helpful and funny - always available to guide you. Plus, resources like unstuck ai can really boost your prep. Definitely an easy A if you put in the work!

She is a very sweet professor. The class consisted of 3 speeches that we had to present to the class and she gave us a template and due dates in the first week of class. The only downside is that attendance was mandatory so if no one wanted to present until the last day then you have to show up, even if you already presented.

Marsha Clowers has to be one of my favorite professors here at John Jay. Im currently taking her as of Spring 2025 semester. It's honestly a very simple class we have 3 speeches and two exams. She's hilarious and very understanding. Theres no textbook needed btw! If you want a class thats fun and different this is the one.

Class consists of 2 exams (the exact same). 3 speeches 2 which follow the outline, last one is a freestyle. Don't try to be creative, copy the outline! she is hilarious makes the class go by fast. Each class is worth 3 points daily attendance matters. she may be understanding but don't miss your work and then give excuses she doesn't accept that.

Professor Clowers' class was my favorite this semester. There are no tests, and class always ends early. Sometimes ridiculously early lol. There are three speeches that she grades thoughtfully, but then that's pretty much it. Just follow her sample outline. If you need help, she's always available. It could not be a better class. She's awesome.
