The test are a majority of your grade. You really have to pay attention to lectures in order to understand how he likes the test to be written.
Willing to help and work with students.
The class was smooth, I was pretty indifferent to the anime avatar he used in class for zoom. I did enjoy the exam papers feedback system, it helped a lot with getting better grades on them and he was very lenient on giving us extra time to do assignments.
Professor Naylor's Phil-1301 online class was clear and easy, he made hard concepts easy to understand through cultural references along with paraphrasing the lines of thinking we used from different philosophers. He is also very understanding with late extensions and gives his students a lot of opportunities for extra credit.
He is a cool dude and wants you to pass the class. His way of giving exams is odd and I did not see that I had missed 2 exams but I let him know and he re opened them to me for full credit which helped me pass. Easy class just do the work and communicate and you'll pass.
Great professor just do your work and communicate and you'll pass.
This professor is very understanding and made coming to zoom class worth it.
Professor Naylor made this strictly online course reasonably easy. He is well-organized and detailed in the things he expects from us. His lectures are thorough and provide a lot of extra credit opportunities.
Although I was fully online and was nervous about this course, Professor Naylor does a great job giving real world examples during the lectures and technical definitions in the modules. The lectures included jokes and allowed me to see who Naylor was. He also provides many opportunities for extra credit and revise exams after the due date.
Maybe its because I took it online, but I didn't really like this class. I look at the reviews on here so I expected more, just wasn't the type of professor I like.
Although the grading was hard on the exams, there were plenty of chances to make them up. It is difficult to be knowledgeable on the topics because because they can seem so simple but the process of thinking can be very complex so if you take him pay attention to lectures and the main points.
the course was kind of difficult for me i have never touched a subject like this before so i challenged me to think outside the box and its not really my strong suits
Mr. Naylor used great communication throughout the semester. If you needed anything they were able to respond within 24 hours. The class was crystal clear at the beginning about what was expected and how we would be graded. The class personally to me is only hard if you do not put effort into coursework.
He makes class very engaging for an online course. Super accessible if you have any questions and you will get a response in a timely matter. Highly recommend.
Professor Naylor is a fun professor and to be honest he is the only reason I am passing my other classes due to his flexibility I learned I don't like philosophy but Professor Naylor and his teaching has allowed me to pass and not get to stressed with philosophy.
Professor Naylor is a great teacher, cares about his subject and is understanding. As long as you complete his assignments you will pass. willing to work with students to improve understanding of topic and gives extra assignments for extra credit.
Great professor, he knows his subject and uses everything to help his students understand. During this time. the class was given useful chances and reasonable accommodations to complete work, redo work, earn points, and get help?
Mr. Naylor is a very patient teacher, and will always give good feedback. The class is only hard if you don't do the reading (which there is a lot of). He is also a very funny individual and will leave small things in the readings to keep you interested, and make you laugh.
Good class
Gives plenty of extra credit but a large chunk of your grade is four exams with four questions each so read thoroughly and make sure you get those exam grades high other wise you could fail. Records zoom lectures for each topic and also for exams which helped me a ton when taking the exams so make sure you listen to the exam reviews!
Exams are in essay format, quizzes are a bit hard
Easy class as long as you do your work in time.
he's very understanding when it comes to unexpected situations, he also is very pushy when it comes to wanting his class to pass. he is always sending out reminders and offering extensions and or extra help. great professor!
Hes got a simple class, just gotta read a good a amount.
This class was made easier because of the professor, he will help you make the class easier on you.
Overall great guy, funny anime girl avatar, REAL tough grader on the essays, that or im just bad, 10/10 would take again, he's very chill on retaking things as long as you ask and he isnt too big on deadlines.
As long as u then in work on time u should be good just show up to class.
If I got this right, he gave out 110 extra credit pts this semester which is more than any teacher I've ever seen
Very chill guy. Gives out a TON of extra credit. He explains things really well and is considerate with dead line extensions. If you re take an exam he gives out so many good pointers to help you.
Naylor was awesome. Good teacher and good person to spend a whole lecture with. He offered a bunch of extra credit which was very helpful. This semester, this was the only class I looked forward to going to.
This professor is really understanding and does a great job helping us do the best we can in their course.
Great professor! really caring about his students.
It was a challenging semester for me and he was great, very accommodating and his communication was great.
Despite having personal issues at home and having difficulties turning in assignments on time and finding time and opportunities to do the work where I could, he was extremely understanding and kind, thank you very much.
Expect weekly quizzes (pay attention to lectures), assignments are very easy. For exams you are given a chance to earn extra credit as well as get feedback on how to improve your exam before final submissions.
Professor Naylor had a great personality, there were times where questions on the quiz did not align with the lectures which caused confusion. He is very approachable and helpful with feedback.
Prof. Naylor was the most caring and considerate teacher I have ever had. However, there was a little disorganization with the exams, quizzes, and discussions. They were given to us unexpectedly, but he gave us enough time to do them. Overall, I was really pleased with the effort and support he offered and would take him again.
This professor is a tough grader, she does really help though and allows you to re do assignments and helps by giving extra credit.
This semester was hectic, but Professor Naylor has been nothing but understanding of others and their circumstances outside of the classroom. I took this online as a Flex course so be aware of quizzes and discussions. However, he offers multiple opportunities for extra credit and gives great feedback to improve your work to submit. Great professor!
Personally, I feel that the modules and video lectures weren't super clear when it came to taking the quizzes and the exams.
Take notes during each of the lectures and you'll be fine. There are weekly quizzes, and the exams are written. He uploads videos on how to answer each of the exam questions, offers lots of extra credit and many make ups. He answered all my questions and provided lots of feedback. His lectures were pretty cool.
He's just really cool to listen to.
Naylor always gives students the opportunity to learn, rather than give up. He works with you to get the best possible grade you can. His lectures are in depth and provides content directly related to quizzes and discussions. All you have to do is pay attention, he's real good about rewording information so it translates well to the student.
He is amazing but the course itself is the hardest I have ever taken. The professor is extremely understanding and cool but the material is very difficult for me to understand.
Professor Naylor's class was not extremely difficult. The bulk of the reading material was actually covered in his recorded lectures. He did many lectures, but they were all bite-sized recordings and didn't cover too many topics in one go. Plenty of extra credit and meets multiple learning styles. Key to an "A" is to do a little bit every day.
Took a Flex class during Spring 2024 and all I can say is that he is a great professor. He explains everything in detail and all the lectures he provided helped a lot for discussion posts as well as exams.
A great professor, he is here to help his students in any way possible. He works with his students and makes sure everyone is getting the same treatment. Honestly one of the best professors I have ever encountered.
Professor Naylor gives multiple opportunities to his students. He also provides great feedback on your work to help you gain a better understanding of the assignment. His recorded lectures are very helpful.
He is incredibly respectful of our time as people outside of school. He gives chances to make up points and get late work turned in. Late work is not really a big problem since the assignments are well-spaced out and simple while still learning the coursework. Discussion posts are definitely my favorite of any online class so far.
This professor is very good, gave good lectures, great examples, super understanding, and time management was the best
As long as you pay attention to the lectures you'll do fine, tons of opportunities for extra credit as well as the ability to makeup work
Prof. Naylor can be a bit heavy on the self-deprecation, but his passion for conveying the material and applying it to our lives is evident; and he is quite effective at the delivery of his messages.
Professor Naylor was awesome. The materials covered in class were interesting and assignments are easy to follow and instructions are very clear. She makes it hard not to pass her class!
Professor Naylor is probably one of the best professors I have had. He is very understanding and provides plenty of options for extra credit.
He really does a great job of helping the students understand the information as easy as possible.
He's a fantastic professor, always there to help his students in any way possible. If you need more time to complete your work, he's willing to accommodate. His use of an avatar adds a fun element. His feedback on assignments is excellent. Plus, the assignments are spaced out nicely, making them very manageable.
Amazing professor, the class was overall easy as long as you pay attention. Offers extra credit and redos to help with your grade, also super understanding!
Very good at giving feedback and help whenever you're confused about assignments or understanding topics.
love
Good teacher
This instructor is absolutely fair and very helpful and I absolutely do recommend anyone take him
I encourage anyone to take this class, the professor gives lots of opportunities for extra credit and good feedback on essay assignments if you ask. Does give extensions if you communicate with the professor beforehand. Overall, I had a positive experience in this course.
Naylor is a very engaging professor and he clearly cares for his students and their understanding of the lecture. The class is pretty straightforward and interesting would recommend!
Mr. Naylor was an awesome professor. He truly cared about what he was talking about in his lectures. He always ensures you understand the material before moving on during his lectures. Assignments are normal and average and will be easy if you pay attention to the lecture and read over the material.
Naylor made this class interesting and easy to get through. The essays are different than what I've ever done, so they were a little difficult at first. Naylor gives every student the opportunity to learn and succeed. He offers feedback if you ask for it, and he's always willing to provide extensions. Amazing professor, 100% recommend.
I still think that the V-Tuber Anime girl thing is weird, but I got past it eventually. I was just trying to get through the class because it was needed but marshal made it enjoyable. All of his assignments were easy enough. He was super lenient with late work and retesting. I definitely do not regret taking his class.
He is a great professor and made class very enjoyable. Throughout class he made sure we would understand the material and offered to give us more examples if needed. He is very understanding about extensions and i would definitely recommend him for future students.
The professor is great and provides better explanations than the book.
Mr.Naylor was a great Professor and was so helpful with extra credit assignments and gave great feedback! Definitely would take again!
Great Professor! Was so helpful with extra credit assessments and feedback would definitely take it again!
great teacher goes into great detail about the subject at hand allows redoes on assignments if you didn't do so well of the previous attempts and very chill.
Great Professor! would definitely take it again!
Great professor, would love to take him again. I would greatly recommend him for any philosophy class.
Fantastic professor. He is here for YOU so let him know if you need anything and he will accommodate you. My first online course I actually enjoyed showing up to. Being in class is important though, this is where the bulk of information is. 10/10 would take this course again!
Great course and teacher for learning philosophy!
Very good teacher, will help you if you need it, gives a lot of extra credit and good feedback on exams. If you make an effort he will give you good grades.
Professor was an excellent teacher throughout the semester I would take this class again.
Very fun professor, I would take his class again if I had the chance. Definitely made it easy to catch up with assignments and always gives a second chance.
It's best to show up and pay attention to the zoom sessions. As long as you pay attention, engage, and turn in your assignments it's an easy class to pass. There are redo's for every assignment and he gives you feedback if asked.
I like the anime thing i mean it is fun for the teacher to be chill sometimes it makes it easier to learn and not be stressed
The lectures online were always enjoyable and fun to attend! He was caring and understanding with assignments and helped by giving feedback when needed! Also had opportunities for extra credit. I really enjoyed the course and if he were to teach another class, I would attend!
He works around your life schedule as long as you communicate with him. Takes late work, gives out extra credit and redos.
Mr.Naylor's class was fun, I enjoyed the lectures as well as receiving guides that helped with future assignments in order to understand what each section required and how to fully explain the points in that section. His assignments were easy and helped to inform you for the assignment that went along with it.
Professor Naylor is the best professor I've had. He makes sure you understand the material and makes his lectures interesting. He tries to make himself available to his students. I had a really hard semester for personal reasons, and he accommodated me as much as possible. He gives you redoes on exams, and quizzes to get the best possible grade.
Professor Naylor is a phenomenal professor for those who are taking classes for the first time or just trying to earn a credit for your degree. He is very engaging with his students and his enthusiasm creates a great learning atmosphere. Professor Naylor is very understanding and always does what he can to help his students succeed in his course.
Thought the exams are quite difficult, Naylor really gives you every chance to succeed, by giving extra credit and even exam redos that are months after they're closed. Funny teacher, love to participate in class
Pay attention to the lectures at all costs and take notes from that specific source material.
I like all the funny videos that he uses as examples for some of the modules. It makes it easier to understand.
this professor was really good very helpful and gives a lot of extensions
Great Professor!
Great professor overall very lenient!
very easy class as long as you do your work, the professor is very understanding and caring he will reach out to his students for help.
Honestly a pretty straight-forward professor and easy to work with, somewhat lecture heavy but outside practice and examples definitely makes assignments a breeze. Would recommend if struggling with juggling work/school.
Hes is good but could give better feedback.
It is a good professor overall, very chill and he gives a lot of opportunities to turn in late assignments and quizzes which is grate. Only thing are the exam which were kind off hard and complicated to understand IMO.
Super fun professor, who knows who to keep a boring subject to some really interesting. Information on canvas is easy to complete and find as well. Great professor.
Gives many ways to earn extra credit and redo's on exams.
Professor Naylor is a very nice guy and is always willing to let you redo anything and everything in his class. He will even offer many chances for you to get a tons of extra credit for his class as well. He also will remind you about over due assignments. The only thing that was sort of a challenge were the 4 essays we had to write.
Hes very nice, understanding, and lenient.
He was a good professor and cared if we got our work done and would give extensions you wanted them gave a lot of extra credit opportunity's which I liked because I know many professors don't do that.
Patient, incredibly patient. I am thankful to have him.
Professor Naylor is one of the most understanding and caring professors that I have come across. His pre-recorded and live lectures are very helpful and I enjoyed his method of teaching. He made sure that content is thoroughly explained and clarified. During times of struggle, he allowed me extensions as needed. I am grateful to have had him.
Naylors an awesome professor and was very understanding with late work due to inconvenient circumstances.
Professor Naylor made learning Philosophy so much fun and enjoyable. I was able to learn in such a fun way and if I didn't understand something he would explain the material again to me. I would definitely take this professor again.
Professor Naylor made my online course experience easy. Throughout the semester he gave simple true/ false quizzes at the end of each module as well as interesting discussion posts in between lectures. The biggest challenge in his class was his essay exams. But he even helps tremendously with those by posting lecture reviews over each question.
He was really interactive and upbeat. Really made me want to interact and get involved in conversation. I do thought wish we were more held responsible by assignments being locked so we wouldn't have all these assignments to do last minute. Other than that I think he was a great professor.
Very understanding about other circumstances. Will give extra time on assignments. A lot of extra credit opportunities given.
Professor Naylor really does care about you and gives you plenty of opportunities to complete late assignments or rewrite your discussion posts. The feedback they give and information they provide to help you be successful in the course is amazing.
Do every extra credit assignment possible especially the exam extra credit and ask for feedback because it is super helpful and helps you edit before the exam is due.
To make this short and sweet this professor is absolutely hilarious. 10/10 would recommend
Naylor is a fun guy and very understanding and is more than happy to help however he can and makes it a clear learning process.
Professor Naylor is a great professor. He gives the opportunities for extra credits and gives good feedback. He is more lenient in grading and turning in assignments.
I took this class in summer. Overall, 4 essays, they are taken as exams. Quizzes, which allowed to be taken again. Discussion which was really easy to participate.
Great! Lots of extra credits and a many re dos. Definately i would take it again
lots of info and stuff to read.
He's really good and understanding. Took mine online class and very considering despite my internet loss. Would take him again.
He is talker, he is big on discussing the subject
Professor Naylor was such a cool an creative professor. He makes sure that you are engaged with the topics he is teaching. You can tell he really cares for his students!!
Very easy going teacher has fun with the class and the only thing I would say is I would appreciate feedback on tests immediately after grading rather than having to ask for them to have feedback, other than that really good class, and you can redo almost everything.
The teaching style is great and i loved his feedback after the exam submissions just a great class to learn in.
He explained things well you had to really pay attention to what was being said, and I enjoyed the feedback
Nothing new
He was a very nice and easy going professor who allows for redoes and extra credit on the exams. He is kind and does not put too much work into the students. There are videos and readings that you can follow that are fairly simple.
Rough exam grader. Does not give feedback unless you ask but does allow redos
Overall He's a great professor. He is a tough grader but gives feedback in due time. Compared to other professors I appreciate that if I have a problem regarding an assignment I can reach out and he will respond fairly quickly and allow me to redo something.
This professor gives lot of extra credit opportunities and good feedback. Willing to help where ever it's needed and easy to work with.
This class was an easy credit. As long as you give an effort to complete assignments and review feedback you will pass.
Professor Naylor is a great teacher. He gives feedback on his exams and you can redo the exam. The exams consist of 4 prompts based on material you learned in class (basically an essay). The quizzes are 10pt each true or false questions (u cannot find them on quizlet) so pay close attention to his lectures. Gives extensions on exams and assignments.
Professor Naylor is really kind and understands that life can get in the way of school work sometimes. But I took the 5-week class, and it was extremely difficult for me. I struggle with writing and we were assigned almost like a 4 page essay each week. If you pace yourself and don't have any other obligations, you should be fine.
Professor Naylor is a wonderful instructor. He provides feedback on exams and discussion questions, so you can earn as many points as possible to pass this course. He uses real world examples to help explain some difficult material.
Professor Naylor was a great teacher! He gave lots of chances for extra credit and redos for exams and quizzes. Exams are a little difficult but if you ask for feedback you should be fine. I took the 5 week course so it was a little more difficult but it still wasn't too hard. Would recommend his class!
What I want other students to know about this professor is that they have great professional abilities which include their teaching style and can convey the material clearly in an amazing way.
Naylor was great and very involved in critiquing work. many chances go get assignments right.
Great professor, gives oppurtunity for extra credit, assignments are clearly explained and when you read the material are relatively easy to complete.
Professor Naylor was a very easy grader and teacher. He will let you take redos on most assignments and also tends to give extensions. The only downfall I had was him giving little time to finish assignments.
Great professor, took the class for a four week course and it was a bit difficult but I managed with the help of the professor.
Very communicative and easy to reach. Gives great feedback and replies to emails in a timely manner. Tough grader when it comes to Exam writings but gives plenty of opportunities to get feedback from him as well as redoes to improve grade. 10/10
They were extremely helpful and understanding when it came to grading assignments and giving extra submissions to give students the opportunity to get better grades. Overall they were great, not too many assignments but the exams weigh the most by far. 10/10 would take another class with this professor.
Good,but difficult
Professor Naylor definitely cares about his students and is going to give you every opportunity to earn a great grade. You just need to keep up with all of his assignments. His lectures are very detailed and provide outlines for how to complete the assignments. I would definitely take a class taught by professor Naylor again.
Marshall Naylor is one of the best professors I've ever had. I took a 5-week online course. Be prepared to watch a lot of lectures (not boring). He is very understanding and provides students with feedback and support if needed. You will do great if you watch the lectures, read the material, and only use class material for quizzes and exams.
Naylor was a great professor. He does put them out late on Sunday if not Monday which can be frustrating at times, but overall, he is an easy class to take, and I enjoyed how he has his modules set up. Assignments were clear and there were ample amounts of redo for assignments as well as extensions when needed.
Professor Naylor is great at offering extra credit opportunities within the course. The lectures and modules were always engaging and presented in a fun way. The feedback was super helpful, and I appreciated being able to resubmit work to improve my grade. The class had a good mix of discussions, quizzes, and exams consisting of writing prompts.
Professor was not boring; teaching technique is different but effective. He made the teachings personal like examples are up to dated he made jokes and laughed. Sure, he is a tough grader, but he always gave us the opportunity to submit work for him to look over and redo or re-submit. pre-recorded but if I had any questions if responds promptly.
Professor Naylor was great, it was a 5-week course but he graded and gave feedback promptly. The material is a bit difficult to understand, especially if you've never taken a philosophy class but Prof. Naylor used real-life examples to help explain the concepts. Very understanding and gave us extensions when needed.
The professor is professional and is good with caring about people's lives when it comes to deadlines for assignments. The exams are graded pretty hard though and do not do the bare minimum for exams.
Great Class!
All the assignments weren't bad and the professor was very easy going with turn in times, however he is a very strict grader when it comes to the exams which really brought down my grade.
very laid back and willing to help, some of the online textbook parts are a lot of reading though and some of the modules are a little extensive.
professor Naylor is very lenient but also a tough grader for exams, so you really cant bs your way trough them, but he can be reached pretty easily and is willing to work with students and is very understandable. gives plenty of opportunities to redo or resubmit work and gives good criticism when warranted. would recommend!!
A lot of reading, and some weird grading on exams, but overall a very good professor and class! If I had a gripe it would be he doesn't give feedback to the completed exams, only to the extra credit rough draft submissions.
Super fun and helpful lectures, 10/10 would take again
I think Naylor was one of my favorite professors during my freshman year. His class was fast paced and very detailed. His lectures were extremely informative and helpful. For anyone who will take this class in the future; DO NOT SLACK OFF. Regardless if late work is not an issue. I feel anyone who takes his class will thrive if they take action.
I took this online class for a 5-week summer semester and he makes the class very easy to navigate with optional clear feedback and lots of extra credit. He creates many lectures and modules for you to use on quizzes and exams, and he is very understanding with extensions on exams and other assignments. I highly recommend taking this class.
While I think Professor Naylor was very helpful when you ask for feedback, this class is just too much. If you like writing 5 page essays every week, go ahead. But I WARN YOU, don't take the 5 week class. This class would have been so much better if it was in person and longer. I do NOT recommend taking his 5 week summer class.
They were a good professor. I enjoyed the class and they are very, very understanding of how busy your life may be, and the reason why some people actually take online classes.
A great professor graded mine with a curve.
Overall a great professor just be ready to read!
The professor is very understanding if you aren't able to get assignments in on time, and will let you make up work.
Very easy class to take, especially since he keeps assignments open and gives many extensions on tests. So if you are pretty busy you still have a chance to get your work in.
This professor is probably the fastest online replier to anyone that has any questions online. I get most of my responses back within a few hours.
Naylor gave plenty of chances to make up assignments throughout the course. He was very accommodating and understanding. I would 100% recommend taking this course, just make sure you have good communication with him. Super funny as well and is amazing at explaining things!
She was amazing all though there was an assignment everyday she gives you enough time and give your more than one chance for quiz. would take her class again !
very easy class, would take her again
Would take him again
Very good professor, and understands the reasoning behind why some people decide to take some online classes very understanding when it comes to scheduling and there are plenty of opportunities for extra credit
This prof is pretty chill - he's big on discussions and makes sure you stay engaged. Lots of extra credit opportunities too. I used unstuckstudy ai to help with study prep, which was a big help alongside the class materials. Overall, a solid class to take if you want an easy credit.
Great feedback on assignments. Lectures were helpful.
Excellent professor! Naylor makes some very confusing subjects easy to understand and fun to learn. Gives very easy discussion posts and quizzes, so most of the effort and grade are for the exams. Very understanding and, at his own cost, will try harder than most other professors to get you an A. Study and do the work and an A is almost guaranteed.
The class wasn't too bad the teacher was just hard grader on exams
This professor was very patient and understanding when having to constantly answer questions I had and needing that extra explanation. His lectures and videos were such great resources to look back on when taking a quiz. I recommend Professor Naylor for anyone's philosophy course.
Professor Naylor is a fair grader and a open teaching professor giving you plenty to help in terms of notes, readings, and for me zooms that ere very informative. He will help you with your work and give you critique but only if you ask and seek the help and it is typically very helpful and thorough.
Took this class online and had no problems of assignments that he gave out. Gave multiple opportunities for extra credit, redos on assignments, redos on quizzes and redos on exams. Also extended times on exams if needed. If you're taking an online class and need a philosophy credit, he would be the one to choose. Trust me, he is not hard. Good Prof
Took this class online and had no problems of assignments that he gave out. Gave multiple opportunities for extra credit, redos on assignments, redos on quizzes and redos on exams. Also extended times on exams if needed. If you're taking an online class and need a philosophy credit, he would be the one to choose. Trust me good professor, not hard.
His insight is amazing and as long as you watch the lectures the reading and work ties together.
I have no interest in Philosophy, making this class particularly challenging for me, but it wasn't because of Professor Naylor's teaching abilities. He was excellent. I only needed to contact him via email once, and he responded to my questions quickly. He provides extra credit opportunities and allows students to correct their exams and quizzes.
Mr.Naylor was an excellent teacher, great teaching techniques, and helpful feedback.
Nice class, would take again.
Great Prof. Loved his videos and gave alot of opportunities to make up work. Would take again.
Relates learning material to easy examples so students understand material better. Easy quizzes. Exams are written out, no multiple choice.
Naylor is really good at lecturing in a way that doesn't feel boring. I like the fact that he adds real world examples instead of rifling off terms we don't fully understand from a textbook and making us figure it out as we go. There are also so many second chances for better grades and extra credit opportunities that help you go such a long way.
Awesome professor! Quizzes are easy. Exams are essays, but he tries to help you as much as he can through exam reviews. Very fun and engaging discussions due every week.
Professor Naylor really cares for our understanding of material. He provides short enough lectures and lots of extra sources and ways to teach the materials. I often did not understand the readings but because of his explanations on the material I had a better understanding of the topics. Gives great feedback and extra credit.
The professor was very considerate of what was going on throughout the semester. The assignments were simple to understand and gave enough time to complete the assignments. He does give extra credit and gives plenty of opportunities to do them. As someone who is returning to school after being away for a few years, this course was great.
Funny guy during zoom classes, its honestly hard to fail his class since he allows late work
Honestly really hard to fail his class
He is a chill guy who isn't hard on deadlines. If you need an extension or an adjustment for due dates he can help. He explains all the assignments and information clearly. We don't read our book at all and class is not manditory as he posts all lectures and info from what we did in class in our canvas
There are four exams; however, it feels like we get them every two weeks. I have gotten a 40 on each exam ( they are essays ). I don't know why, but he always lets you revise and make them up or redo them. He gives great feedback, but the papers are very time-consuming, long, and annoying. Overall, he is a great, understanding, and funny professor.
He's a super chill professor. Very funny, and very kind when it comes to grades. He lets you make up almost everything (AND his feedback definitely helps you get to a way better grade) and gives extra credit for all the exams plus even more than that. He made the contents of our class interesting and easy to understand. Cool dude.
Down to earth and willing to help if you ask for it. I had a meeting with Naylor, and I thought we would go over only one problem from an exam. Naylor gave me 45 min and reviewed it all. Naylor was willing to offer constructive feedback that helped me throughout the course. Ask for help if something is confusing Naylor responded to emails quickly.
He is very understanding and his material is interesting.
Overall class was amazing. Assignments were minimal but because of how test heavy this class was I was only able to get a low C regardless of all my other assignments being highly graded.
Pretty easy class as long as you keep up with the modules and his lectures. Had about 4 exams throughout the semester but he gives you an outline to complete them.
His work is not hard but want you to be very dedicated to work.
This professor was great! The only thing I would say is that you should definitely do the extra credit for the exams because he is a tough grader on exams. Other than if you watch the lectures and do the readings you can fly through this class!
Professor Naylor is good professor. He knows the material he teaches really well and goes over the material in recorded lectures that he sends out to the class. The one thing I will add is try to do the extra credit opportunities' for the exams so you can get feedback on what you are doing right or wrong.
This course was easy and there were many opportunities to raise your grade if needed.
Professor Naylor is a good professor. He knows how to teach well and goes over the material in recorded lectures that he sends to the class. He does extra credit, which I would do them. They are easy. I would retake him.
Professor Naylor is a very easygoing professor. He provides good feedback on assignments and gives you many opportunities to try again for a better grade. Very witty. The one thing to be weary about is when it comes to exams; he is very critical of the content you're writing about—still not a bad thing. I would definitely take him again.
Professor Naylor is great. He's passionate about what he teaches and cares about the success of his students. If you make anything less than an A it's because you didn't try. The class consisted of 4 exams, weekly quizzes, lectures, and reading. He provides extra credit opportunities and provides feedback when requested. I highly recommend.
Overall great professor- he is kind, caring, and funny. Always went above and beyond to create learning material and he gives plenty of extra credit opportunities. My only small complaint is that he would sometimes publish assignments last minute with a short window of time before being due. He's great other than that, would definitely recommend!
Material makes no sense, lectures are even longer with the slowest speaking tone possible. I would highly recommend not taking this class, look for something else to get an easy credit. This guy talks about the most mind numbing irrelevant things, making class unnecessarily unbearable.
Naylor and his lectures are a bit goofy, but in a way that works. He frequently looks for student feedback to ensure everyone is understanding, possibly to a fault, though I would prefer that to its counter. Exams are writing prompts you are given about a week to complete with opportunities for extra credit by submitting a draft early for review.
It was a good class, and plenty of opportunity to redo assignments.
There is a LOT of lecture in this course, but a lot of the topics are pretty foreign to most people, so it was interesting regardless of the lectures. One thing I didn't enjoy was that the lectures tended to repeat a lot of the same material. He goes over it in the zoom call and then releases multiple videos covering the same stuff pretty closely.
That he is a great instructor who loves to see you succeed in your goals. He also takes the time to work around your busy schedule.
Amongst the best.
Professor Naylor is very patient and understanding. Understands life happens and helps students when needs arise.
Great Professor. Very understanding towards his students. There was always room for improvement and he was always willing to extend a due date if needed. I would definitely reccomend this course.
this class was not hard but it was hard to follow. He enjoys joking around and his style of teaching is not how i like to learn.
Professor Naylor is a good instructor who genuinely cares about his students' success. He is always available to provide assistance and guidance. His feedback on assignments is insightful and constructive, helping us to deepen our understanding of complex concepts. I highly recommend him to anyone interested in exploring philosophy!

I enjoyed Prof. Naylor's class, but if you are not a fan of lecture-heavy classes then you should probably choose someone else. The assignments due for the class were usually limited to discussion posts and essay-based exams. The lectures themselves were very clear and informative with ample pauses to check if the class was understanding the topics
He teaches very well. The material is very clear. Before any exam, he makes a review of what the exam is going to be like and gives us good reviews.
Professor Naylor is very knowledgeable in the subject and is very generous with assignments. Lots of opportunities for extra credit and he gives excellent feedback to ensure you excel. I would definitely recommend this professor, he made online learning a lot easier.
Professor Naylor was very generous with assignments and gave a lot of great feedback. We were given many opportunities for extra credit and many opportunities to succeed. If you stay on top your work, this class won't be difficult to pass. I would highly recommend this professor.
Great Professor! Would take again.
Is very chill and wasn't hard on deadlines. If something happens and you need and extension he can work with you on that. My course was PHIL 1301 which was intro to Philosophy.
Teacher is very helpful with guiding students through lectures and any classwork.
This is a good class to take if you want one that's kind of self-paced and easy to maintain a good grade
I took Marshall Naylor for my intro to philosophy class and overall it was a very easy to follow class. As long as you read through the modules and watch the video lectures you are bound to succeed. The information is easy to understand and the video lectures help too. There are a few extra credit opportunities as well.
If you love philosophy this is the class for you.
Funny guy. But his essays seemed easy enough, but 2/4 essays I got 50 and 60%. I withdrew halfway through for my GPA. He did not provide feedback for essays unless you emailed him, and so I did after the second essay of me failing. He did not respond. I had to withdraw a week and a half after asking for feedback, no response from him.
Took Intro to Phil class to earn my core credit. This class is interesting if you like philosophy, get ready to read the assigned paper and rewatch lecture videos before attempting exams. Exams are 4 prompt based questions which can be tricky if you don't use the guide that he provides in a video. Will let you do corrections on everything.
Was never clear on how he graded and never gave good feedback, it was always vague. Gave assignments a day or two before due date for online class.
Tough grader, but clearly passionate and wants students to really understand. Lectures are organized, engaging, and full of real-world examples. It's lecture heavy, but you'll learn a lot if you put in the effort.

That he is a great professor that clearly states his grading criteria, gave me many chances to redo as needed and made the material extra easy for me to understand.
Professor Naylor is excellent—he truly cares about his students and goes out of his way to help us succeed. He allows exam retakes, which shows he wants us to learn, not just get a grade. His videos are interesting and easy to follow, and I would definitely take his class again if I had the chance.
Professor Naylor's teaching style was positively reinforcing, informative, and easy to follow. Grading based on his rubric/requirements was easily accessible, and exam retakes were allowed with valuable feedback provided by request from the professor.
Good teacher. Gives you extra credit and lets you re-do assignments. Overall, just put in effort and he will help.
Mr. Naylor is a very professional and great professor, I would recommend him class to future students.
Professor Naylor is definitely one of the best professors I've ever had! The course is a bit difficult at first but it's easy to navigate. I enjoyed the amount of extra credit opportunities that were given. As for the exams, make sure that you submit a draft to him for extra credit and helpful feedback!
This class is very straight forward. Everything's laid out for you in the beginning and watching the lectures helps you with the exams. You're given the opportunity for feedback on your exam essay answers prior to the due date. Quizzes are simple Tand F if you watch the lectures you will do just fine. He's does also give opportunities for retake.
I think Professor Naylors PHIL course was great, if you use all of the material he provides for you, you shouldn't have a trouble with the course. He also gives chances to make your missed points back.
Overall the class was informative and the professor gave clear concise information. Great professor overall.
Naylor was an amazing professor, and he makes zooms/lectures very interesting and fun. There are only 4 essays to write in the entire semester and some quizzes that are open notes. So, the class was pretty easy, and he also care about his students. There is also some extra credit you can earn, and you're also allowed to redo the essays and quizzes.
Naylor was an amazing professor, and he always makes the lectures interesting and fun. There are only 4 essays and a few quizzes you take throughout the course, nothing too hard. The class was pretty easy and he's very understanding and caring of each student. You are able to earn extra credit and redo quizzes and essays. He also gives feedback.
Great class overall
Took as a flex class and would say the amount of work was fair and very simple and easy if you just follow along.
he is a good professor i definitely recommend taking his class. he cares about his student and he will make sure you will succeed in his class and will provide you with help if you need it in his class.
He's a great professor! i put difficult, but i meant in the sense of really getting to think really deeply about his lectures. As a chronic over thinker i think it made it a bit of a task, but its college! He helps tremendously with the redo's on the exams, it helped me because it made me realize what i didn't understand prior.
great professor and i would take this class again. he was very helpful, and the class was very interesting
Professor Naylor is a fast-paced lecturer, he's is fair and supportive. He gives extra credit opportunities, allows redos on assignments, and offers helpful feedback on exams. If you stay organized and ask questions, you'll do well in his class.
I liked the fact that he was very good in terms of providing feedback and allowing me to re-do a lot of my assignments so I could improve my understanding of the topics. This class is very writing heavy and you have to watch the lectures to understand the topics but if you put effort in you are almost guaranteed to succeed.
He was very informative and helpful. I liked the class very much, just had a hard time understanding the whole philosophy aspect. But, his lectures are well informed and he gives advice and helps on them too.
He posts lecture videos, PDFs to read and there wast a schedule that he went by at all when posting lectures or assignments. Graded on 4 exams that are 4 short answer questions/exam, 10 discussions and 10 quizzes. I didnt watch any of the lecture videos or read anything and got away with a C, I could have put more effort in but didnt care to.
Professor Naylor is a great teacher, style of teaching allowed me to understand a lot of things I would find confusing if I just had a textbook to learn out of. Modules Professor Naylor provided were filled with so many helpful tools when it came to our discussion post, quizzes, and exams. Couldn't have asked for a better professor for this course!
Professor Naylor is very easy to follow along with his lectures. He makes it entertaining to listen while he teaches. Make sure to attend his online classes. If not, the material can become a bit confusing.
Prof. Naylor is pretty great. His course is based on his video lectures. If you pay attention and watch the lectures you will have no issues. The quizzes are all true and false. The exams are mini essays and as long as you answer the prompt and cite properly you'll get full points. He also posts videos reviewing the exam and listing the expectation
Having Professor Naylor was an amazing experience for me and I actually enjoyed the class despite all the paper prompts he assigns. He is a very caring person and gives feedback on work and assignments, very different then what I have gotten from other professors and I loved it! I recommend taking his course !
Very tough grader, very very hard to get any Exam graded over a 80.
Marshall Naylor is truly an exceptional professor. He is incredibly supportive, Unlike many other professors, there isn't an a lot of homework in this class, He takes the time to provide feedback on your exams before you submit them.
Class was more demanding than I expected but had chances for extra credit.
Professor Naylor is one of the best professors I've had in the two years I've been in college. The Exams are pretty easy and he gives easy extra credit. He also provides great feedback, is super understanding and is fun to interact with during lecture. Definitely take him if you can! As long as you participate, you will pass very easily.
Professor Naylor was an amazing professor and he was very attentive to everyone in the class. Extra Credit was probably some of the easiest extra credit you will ever get in a class. He is super funny and interacts with everyone. You need to pay attention as if you don't you will fall somewhat behind with the course.
Good opportunities to redo quizzes and exams.
Professor Naylor is a great teacher as long as you pay attention during class or watch the videos he posts but he makes it fun. He does grade hard when it comes to exams but he at least lets us redo them along with redoing quizzes.
Tough grader but gives makeup opportunities and offers extra credit.
Hes a cool guy, Philosophy itself is hard, but his lecture style is cool
Professor is good, assignments were not difficult if you read material, exams were toughly graded and very specific on what was asked.
Awesome guy if you enjoy a sense of humor in your class, made most topics very easy to understand for someone diving into PHIL for the first time
I took the flex class, it went great. Pay attention to lecture and assignments and you will pass.
Always do the extra credit for his exams!!
Good Professor that provides clear and simple grading criteria along with giving helpful feedback and and extra credit opportunities.
The professors teaching style and ability to convey the material were my most favorite things about this taking this course. The first professor I've ever enjoyed through beginning to end, absolutely left a great impression.
Professor Naylor is a great teacher and has video lectures that help me a lot with this class. He also gives feedback and extra credits.
Professor Naylor cares about his students more than any teacher I've had. He recorded a lot of great video lectures that helped me deepen my understanding of the course. He brings a great energy to a class that is known to be difficult, and he was constantly reaching out throughout the course to make sure everyone was doing ok.
i liked how he did video lectures
I enjoy Mr Naylor as an instructor, he is an amazing guy that does care for all of his students. He is going to help you and give you the resources you need to succeed. My hardest thing to do in this class was the exams and I do think a lot of other students would agree, he grades them fairly heavy so I recommended doing them ahead of time.
Very straightforward class It can be difficult but overall a good class
The class was not that bad, he gives a lot of opportunities to make up points if you are struggling. I would recommend taking this class if you need the credit.
Provides a lot of feedback which I like and he also gives you the opportunity to retake exams and quizzes. I really enjoyed his lecture videos that helped me the most with my exam prompt questions.
I took this course and assumed it would be an easy course but I was wrong. This class took away my straight ‘A' streak. If the exam questions aren't answered the way he wants forget about it. It will be wrong. He gives extra credit but it barely helps you. It is hard to ace these exams even WITH FEEDBACK.
Professor Naylor was good at teaching the material covered and explained it in a way I could understand. He is very tough when grading exams and is quick to deduct points for minor mistakes. To help with this, he does offer extra credit opportunities and exam redos and provides feedback on exams if submitted a few days before they're due.
He is one of the best professors I have had at Northwest Vista. Many of his lectures are simple, and his homework is too; you just need to think about it a little bit since it is philosophy. Definitely recommend to anyone taking philosophy to have him as your professor!
Explains/gives examples what he wants in essays. Lectures are easy to follow. The class can be challenging. Relies heavy on lecture videos, modules and pdf files no other outside source is allowed. He's a tough grader, you need to know the material. Offers extra credit, reopens quizzes and essays allowing an opportunity for a better grade.
There are multiple ways to earn extra credit and opportunities to revise work were ample. Grading was sometimes hard to follow, but second chances were provided.
His grading is pretty tough and expectations are kind of hard to reach so play close attention to all lecture videos and material.
This class is not to be underestimated, and Professor Naylor, as kind as he may seem, is a tough grader on the exams. If you plan to take this class during the summer, I would advise prioritizing the exams he assigns for the week, finish the draft, ask for feedback from Professor Naylor, revise your exams, and turn it in, way before deadline.
Philosophy is a very confusing subject for me, but Professor Naylor did an amazing job explaining concepts and proving enough course material and breakdowns for topics. He's very caring of his students, and checked up on me even when I was falling behind due to lack of motivation to get through exams and course material.
Professor uses a lot of visual effects that made the lesson a bit more easier to understand and relatable. He gives opportunities for quiz retakes so that is a huge bonus.
Professor Naylor is one of a kind, when I tell you that you wont ever have a professor like him I mean it. Some may find his style of grading iffy, but he is really lenient with the classwork that he gives us. Not only is his class easy, but if you happen to struggle in his class, he gives you a chance to make up almost everything. 10/10
Mr. Naylor always kept the lectures engaging and also entertaining with implications of videos or clips that not only enhanced and supported what he was trying to teach, but they were also entertaining as well. Sometimes after a long read or stint of note taking, it was great to have a short little video that was either funny or relatable to engage
Professor Naylor gives reasonable accommodations to complete work, redo work, and earn points through lots of extra credit. He is extremely clear on what is required of you and all you have to do is make sure you follow those requirements to get a good grade. It is very easy communicating with him despite the large class size.
Professor Naylor provides a variety of tools to help everyone complete assignments, redo assignments, and earn points through a substantial amount of extra credit. He is quite clear about what is expected of you; all you need to do is ensure that you meet those standards to receive a good grade.

He's a great professor, I just procrastinated a lot of the work and ended up doing assignments at the last minute. Be on top of your work and you'll be fine, just a super fast paced class.
Their teaching style is structured, and they take the time to explain key concepts thoroughly. However, their grading is quite tough, and high marks can be difficult to achieve. While expectations are high, the feedback provided is fair and can help students improve. Overall, this professor is dedicated to student but don't expects good grade.
This professor is a tough grader. He gives plenty opportunities for extra credit. That said, the workload itself wasn't overwhelming or unreasonable, and the material was manageable if you stayed on top of it. Lectures were clear, and expectations were mostly well-communicated.
This professor is a tough grader. He gives plenty opportunities for extra credit. That said, the workload itself wasn't overwhelming or unreasonable, and the material was manageable if you stayed on top of it.
This was a great class. I struggle academically, but I enjoyed it. Just be mindful of the exam grading, many of us felt our scores didn't reflect our effort, even after revisions. Still, I really appreciated being able to redo work on basically everything. That flexibility helped balance things out. That's all he's still a very caring professor!
he nitpicks all our work and if it's not perfect we don't get a passing grade. He provided feedback on exam, then after resubmitting, he changed the original question so the answer never seemed correct.
Professor Naylor is very helpful, and offers lots of extra credit. I will say the learning material and can be tricky and it's certainly time consuming, so you can't slack off. Luckly he provides feedback on assignments and allows for resubmission. I took this class in a 5 week span, so it was more fast-paced. Therefore it's doable! Just focus!
Even though this was an online class, she communicated expectations clearly through detailed exam prompts and weekly modules. Her feedback was also helpful and thoughtful, showing she really cared about our learning. Overall, she made the material clear and manageable, even in an online setting.
Overall, not a bad course or instructor. You just need to follow instructions to a "t" to get a decent grade.
posts videos for each assignments but is very picky on how he grades your assignments if it is not to his liking.
You really can't slack in this class, he's a tough grader, and it's easy to fall behind. Make sure to do the extra credit, and really take his feedback into consideration. He allows redos on everything, quizzes are super easy, exams, not so much. He gets back to emails pretty quickly. Definitely the hardest 5-week class I've taken before.
This professor does not follow his own rubric for grades; he uses AI to grade assignments and does not want you to think for yourself, instead regurgitate what he says. He does not even read your papers until you ask for comments. No mention of Socrates, Aristotle, Plato ... just some YouTube clips and his uninformative lectures, maybe 6 articles.
