He will recommend you by the book, but quizzes/tests will mainly be based on the lecture. Quizzes and test are simple enough. Pay attention in lecture and you will be fine.
Naylor was an amazing professor. He is really passionate about his lectures and it is shown in his lectures. He breaks down everything perfectly so that you really understand this. All quizzes and exams are based on his lectures and if you need help, go to him and he will tell you literally everything you need to know.
His SMC course is a little confusing at times. He jumps around a lot and throws out many terms that he does not explain well. His grading system is complicated and abnormal as well. He gives no homework or anything to get a grade off of except quizzes and exams. Exams which are 100% writing (either essays or short answers) with strict quidines.
Professor makes sure the his students try and understand the material for the class. Easy class with lots of extra credit opportunities. Quizzes are true-false format and exams are written short answers and/or essay. Overall, the course was easy and interesting for a non-philosophy major.
A quiz almost every week gives reviews for exams and helps you out with the review questions
Good professor, interesting and funny lecturers. Easy quizzes, exams require more work
Tests are most of your grade, his lectures are what he tests on
One of the funniest and most engaging professors I have ever had, incredibly nice and a very fair teacher
Marshall Naylor was an excellent professor that allows discussion at takes time for explanation of the subject content. He gave the opportunity for extra credit and will take time outside of class to give you explanation.
I think he's just a cool dude. Not a lot of assignments so do well to study on quizzes and exams, but other than that he really gives direction on how to get an A.
He is very lenient and very easy to get a good grade from him. If you go in to talk to him about the test he gives you extra credit and tells you everything you need to know for the test, if you go to class every day or not.
Fun to learn from, always really fair. He gives you a lot of chances to do well in the class.
Fair, uses real world examples, funny, and gives you extra credit chances.
Dr. Naylor is that type of professor whose thought process take a little bit of time to get used to. He gives a lot of examples that help grasp the topics better in class. Hes funny and quite blunt which made class interesting.
He does his best to explain the topics and uses lots of examples to really drive the point home, but sometimes the examples just get too lengthy or are too specific. There are no assignments only quizzes and tests that are lecture based but he does give extra credit. It's a fairly easy class but the topics can be a little tough to grasp at times.
He gives you a lot of extra credit to increase your grade. Interesting lectures with funny examples. Quiz every week(10 true/false questions). Gives you 4topics for the exam, on the day of the exam gives you 2 and you write about 1+5 short answer questions connected to the 4 topics.
I slacked in the beginning on two quizzes and an exam which caused me to fail. Luckily I managed to recieve a B in the class. All you have to do is take notes on what he lectures and you'll be fine.
Professor Naylor is a nice and funny person which makes his lectures worth listening to. You don't need to show up, just be sure when the quiz & exam dates are because those heavily reflect for most of the grade in the course. He gives out plenty of extra credit to make up for bad grades. Take him.
Copy notes that he writes on the board. It is a very simple way of teaching, but is effective. Show up, take notes, and you will pass. The exams are 2-4 page essays that you write during the class period. He gives plenty of extra credit to help with your grade. Overall, a very simple and easy course.
Great teacher, will go above and beyond to make sure ALL his students pass. Gives really simple extra credit. Very funny and energetic and finds ways to keep students engaged during lectures covering boring material. He likes his students to talk and participate but not participating won't hurt your grade. virtually impossible to fail!
The man out dresses any professor I've ever had, a one of a kind style. Has a great sense of humor and likes to try and relate to the class, which make his lectures entertaining. If you show up and pay decent attention, you'll like your grade. (Also he needs a red hot chili pepper by his name.)
Easy A class. Study notes and you will be fine. A lot of extra credit opportunities.
Very humor. Attendance is not mandatory but recommended. No assignments, but weekly quizzes. Lots of extra credit. If you don't do very well in quizzes, don't be worried, the extra credit can probably make it up.
This is one of the easiest classes to take and it really takes a weight off your shoulder. You just need to do well on the quizzes which is on a weekly basis and if you miss a class before the quizzes just ask him for the reading sections to study. The exams are really easy, just study the questions given and look back on the notes from class .
TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN! I had him for an 8am and he made attending the class worth it. Really funny and will try to relate the material to us. There is a quiz every week and 4 test. It is very easy to do well if you pay attention and he is always willing to to help. He provides many extra credit opportunities too.
Good at lectures sometimes confusing
Easy class, easy grader, fun to attend class, would take the professor again.
Prof. Naylor's class isn't too tough, but you learn a lot. It's not a stressful experience and you learn a lot, I'd def recommend it.
As others have said, he is very enthusiastic and passionate. And he gives examples to theories which are entertaining. He presents philosophy in fun way which made it easier to learn for me.
the best professor EVER.
He is such a good professor who would use an inspiring example to explain the boring and confusing things. Just don't take 8:20 am class since you will never get up in that early especially in winter. I would definitely take him again if there's another class that I'm interested in.
Great professor. I especially like the fact that he can relate the topic that he is teaching to something in real life. The analogies really help the class flow. He is definitely educated in the philosophy field. Would definitely take another course with him.
Professor Naylor is very down-to-earth and active with the class. Although attendance is not mandatory it's important to go because the lectures are better learned in person and you'll have quizzes over them. He does give plenty of extra credit though which is awesome. He cares about helping you out and is available during office hours.
A very cool guy with an easy to follow teaching method. Having an 8:20 am class was tough but he was very entertaining most days in his lectures.
Every week there's a quiz but it the subject that were studying during that week mostly the quizzes are on Wednesdays. He always have time to help you understand the subject in question. He gives several examples to help the student understand the subject. His very good teacher and he even puts out personal stories and they are pretty funny.
He's just super hard, no use of text books, so your only sources are his lectures, and you wont always understand everything his saying so your bound to miss things. He's very smart and does help a lot outside of the classroom however.
Professor Naylor made his lectures very interesting and relatable by giving personal examples. There were weekly quizzes that were relatively easy as long as you payed attention to the material in the lectures. He also gave many easy opportunities for extra credit.
This professor is passionate about every topic that is being taught and becomes excited when students engage in discussion.
It would be helpful for the professor to stay more on topic. He may be a little scatter brained.
This was an overall informative class. There was Weekly quizzes based on the lectures, but they were simple 10 questions and T/F. There was no need for a textbook since he teaches everything in class. His exams were all essays and short answers but he helps break down the questions since he gives you the possible questions beforehand.
cool, funny guy with a rocking mustache. Overall good professor and he knows his philosophy.
He grades fairly, funny, and uses examples that the class can relate to.
Professor Naylor teaches a relatively easy class. If you pay attention in class you will more than likely pass the course, and even though attendance isn't mandatory it is recommended that you go to class because a lot of what he talks about is on the exams. He gives a generous amount of extra credit, so it's virtually guaranteed that you'll pass.
Lecture heavy, flexible on attendance but grade leans hard on the material covered during Lectures. Would take again.
Great teaching style, take notes thats all you will need for the quizes, really helps you with all the tests.
Show up to class, as the quizzes and exams are centered around in-class lectures. Naylor is a great professor and he is also hilarious so class is usually pretty entertaining. Go to class, pay attention to the lectures and everything should be smooth sailing. He also offers extra credit opportunities.
The class was easy, just make sure to go to class and pay attention because the material is a bit confusing. Take advantage of his office hours it'll really help you pass with an A. Quizzes once a week and are T/F so are pretty easy. Attendance isn't mandatory so you can skip but be sure to try and catch up before the quiz or else you'll fail.
He like to engage with the class... and I find that if u engage with him in the class, youll be ready for the quizzes
The class is super easy but really interesting too. He helps out ALOT, especially if you communicate with him. He will email you the exact answers you need for the test if you email him & ask, & you get extra credit for doing that. 10/10 recommend.
Hes a pretty good teacher overall. He usually will get distracted a couple times every class and go off topic telling a funny story or something, but after a few minutes hell get right back on to topic. He also reviews over his past lessons a lot, so just try to take good notes and listen.
He is very interesting and gives lots of good examples. Write down what he writes on the board and youll be fine. He gives weekly quizzes and they are T/F (study the day of and youll do great). His tests are 5 open responses and an essay. Do all the extra credit because its extra points to your overall final grade. And email him because he helps
He is a really good professor, his class is a piece of cake as long as you go to class and take notes. His exams are heavily based on lecture so even though its not mandatory, make sure you attend. His exams are clear and there are plenty of extra credit opportunities if you mess up. Quizzes once a week. Great , funny profesor.
The discussions we have in class are great and as long as you pay attention you can easily do well on his exams. Though you can miss don't do it because you can miss the answers to your exams. Every exam is written and he grades those pretty tough so make sure you know exactly what he wants.
T/F quiz every week super easy if you participated in lecture. Class can get kind of confusing but just ask questions and you'll be ready for his written exams. DON'T MISS LECTURE. Easy class over all and plenty of chances for extra credit in case you need the boost.
Gives good examples in lectures, very funny, and cares about you and your grade. He truly wants you to succeed in his class and understand the topics at hand.
Naylor is fantastic! He gets VERY excited when giving lectures which means they are sometimes frantic and off topic (but fun). There are three major tests which are half essay and half multiple choice, and a quiz every friday. If you take good notes and keep up with the lectures the other stuff is easy!
Great Professor! Very funny and clear in his lectures. He gives you good study guides for the tests which is a bonus!
Definitely recommend hes super funny, good lectures theres only 3 tests I think and lots of chances for extra credit
He's not difficult. It's just listening to his lecture and reaching out to him before exams. He gives so much extra credit that it's ridiculous. It's an easy A if you put forth a little effort. Plus, he's funny, and his outfit choices are always great. He's understanding and always willing to help.
Makes philosophy a lot easier than regular classes. Very little reading from the textbook and additional documents but they're the basis for the lectures. Exams aren't hard, he's very straightforward on what he expects you to know and say. Not a tough grader.
Professor Naylor is a great instructor, makes philosophy understanding much easier. He does not rely heavily on textbooks, but articulates everything using real world examples to get the material across. Attendance is not taken, but if you do not show up for class you will fall behind because something new is taught every class.
Professor Naylor is an amazing professor who communicates well with class and makes the lectures enjoyable through personal stories. Hes an all around fun professor who made going to class and learning philosophy enjoyable.
Naylor is one of the coolest professors I've had at St. Mary's. He always engages his students by relating the course material to one of his students' stories. He gives a lot of extra credit that gets added to the overall grade at the end of the semester. We had quizzes every Friday that were 10 T/F and three exams where we wrote an essay in class.
He is the most lively and excited professor I've ever had in StMU! We have quizzes every week but they are easy if you were there for class and are only True and Flase. We only have 3 essay exams but he is super helpful during his office hours and would stay longer just to make sure you understand the material! Also gives tons of extra credit!
good professor. quiz every week. easy extra credit. helps a lot.
He is a very good professor and offers a bunch of extra credit. Some of the subject is a bit confusing but if you go to office hours he will explain very well and gives extra credit if you go to office hours.
Naylor makes the fun class and easy to understand. Only quizzes and exams as grades but lots of extra credit. Just attend class and you can score a good grade on the weekly quizzes. Really fun and loves teaching you won't want to miss.
Gives lots of extra credit opportunities that go towards your overall grade. Quizzes are easy if you pay attention in class or get notes from someone.
I'm not a philosophy fan, but Mr. Naylor makes it an enjoyable class. Quizzes are 25% and tests 75%. The exams are in class written essays, you are given 4 essay questions in advance, 2 will be on the exam and you get to choose 1. Extra credit goes directly onto your grade, so if you have a 90 at the end with 5 EC points, you get a 95 final grade
He's a hilarious guy and teaches well. I enjoyed the class.
Naylor was a very good professor. Weekly quizzes were given, but they were always 10 T/ F questions. The only exams that were given were essays that he gives you a week to prepare for. I would definitely recommend taking his class because his extra credit is very generous and he makes class fun and interactive.
Good Professor, loves to help out students in need of help. Gives Extra Credit that can drastically change your grade. You wont regret taking him.
Very Good only four exams so they count a lot.
Good professor gets a little off topic but overall always provides a good and memorable lecture.
Great professor, really enjoyed his class! His lectures are thorough, and gives generous extra credit. Would definitely recommend taking him.
He is a great teacher! Make sure you pay attention because it is really easy to get lost.
I really enjoyed this professor. He made the material a lot easier by explaining in a variety of ways.
Do not miss Friday quizzes because they cannot be redone. Lectures are based on the textbook but is not required to pass. He offers A LOT of extra credit and lectures until majority of the class understands. Naylor is also very helpful when ti comes to preparing for tests for tests and gives you extra credit for deliberating with him.
Great professor
He's one of the professors who is happy when teaching. He's got quizzes every Friday and tests count a lot!
Naylor has extra credit opportunities that add points to the overall final grade which is huge when it comes to grades. He only gives out 2 exams and then the final exam, so make sure to do really well on the exams. Going to office hours helps a bunch because he really helps you understand what you need to write for the exam to get a good grade.
Naylor is such a good professor. He makes the lecture fun and enjoyable. He is funny and explains the material in an engaging way. He is always very quick to grade quizzes and tests. His tests are an essay and 5 short answers. You have a week to prepare for the essays as you are given the prompts prior to the test. I would recommend this class.
He is tough techer a little bit with grades
Professor Naylor is really enthusiastic about his lectures and he truly tries to give as many scenarios as possible until the class understands the material. He is funny and at times would go on random confusing talks. He grades fast with a quiz every week and only a total of three exams. Gives chances for extra credit.
He did a good job being a teacher. The tests can be a little tough, but don't panic. Study and you will be fine. Try and do as many extra credit opportunities as you can.
He is an amzaing professor through making sure he explians the material clearly to the whole class. He gives plenty of time to review before each exam, as well as feedback to any questions you have. I highly recommend if you take him to do his extra credit oportunities!
Professor Naylor is a great professor! His lectures are entertaining. He also gives quite a bit of extra credit opportunities to boost your grade. Overall, I would take his class again.
10 quizzes, one extra if you get the chance. Three main essay exams with 5 short answer questions. Buy the blue book. Dont buy the actual book for the class, not worth it. Just pay attention in class, take some notes, go to his office hours and do as much extra credit as you can.
Soooooo much extra credit offered! He is literally the best teacher. Super funny and quirky. There was never a dull moment in his class. He really tries to help you out in any way possible. 10 quizzes, 3 exams. I wouldn't buy the book, but definitely pay attention in class and you'll be golden.
Do not buy the book for this class! I personally have never opened the book and I have an A- in the class. The class itself consists of 10 quizzes and 3 exams. The exams are structured as 1 essay and a couple of short answer response questions. The quizzes are structured as ten true or false questions.
This class is extremely easy to get an A. All of the quizzes and tests are the exact same format. As long as you take notes and listen in class you will succeed in the class. He also enjoys joking around with his students to keep them engaged.
Naylor is an amazing teacher to take any Philosophy course with. He can make a very difficult course subject and relate it to the class for an amazing understanding of it. There was not one lecture that I didn't have a good laugh to start my day. When taking his class he leaves a lot of room to pass every exam and quiz. Is always available.
Hes mad cool, just do your work and youll enjoy the class and pass. He wants you to pass so just apply yourself.
Easy A class. Study notes and you will be fine. And there is alot of extra credit.
Naylor really cares about his students. Grades are not important to him, he just wants to make sure you understand the material well. It is very easy to follow along, as he is very clear on subjects. If you are for some reason still not understanding, he offers plenty of one on one help.
Naylor is an amazing professor! All you need to do is go to class and listen; he makes the class really interesting. He never failed to make you laugh every day in class! He offers a lot of extra credit opportunities, and there is a weekly quiz on Fridays!
Class is not mandatory, but if you miss class you will fall behind because all the material is taught through lecture. Trying to read the books will be confusing.
It's recommended to go to class and take some notes for quiz's every week. Relatively easy class. Do the extra credit for exams.
Attendance is not a huge issue with Naylor, but good luck if you do miss class because he breaks down the readings in the books (which are hard to understand) and applies the lectures to everyday problems. He is a really nice and hilarious. He also offers a couple of extra credit opportunities.
He is very enthusiastic and makes the class entertaining. However, the test can be difficult if you do not study since they are in essay format. He offers a lot of extra credit though which can easily make up for a bad test grade.
he is a great professor, his classes are fun.
Naylor is such a great professor who makes coming to class so much fun! The most important thing to do in this class is to show up. To pass the tests/quizzes you must listen to the lecture and take note. I highly recommend choosing him as a professor.
10 quizzes once a week and 3 exams. Funny guy! Extra credit too
He offers plenty of extra credit throughout the semester. Before each exam, you can get 2.5 points just for visiting him during his office hours. His sense of humor will get you through the lecture. He also likes to know his students enough so he can relate us through certain scenarios on the chalkboard. Overall, a great professor :)
Naylor is a very enthusiastic professor. He talks all class period, but he keeps the material interesting. Extra credit is always offered.
Dr. Naylor teaches through the use of storytelling. He gives a quiz every class but they are easy as long as you pay attention. He is also very helpful and offers extra office hours before an exam to make sure that you are on the right path. he does tend to go off-topic from time to time but I think it helps keep the students interested.
Very attentive with the students. offers a bunch of extra credit opportunities. No need of text book.
Great lecturer, really captures the class. Quiz every lecture, but theyre not challenging if you pay attention. Same with exams, theyre essay exams, but they arent too bad if you pay good attention in class. No textbook.
Quizzes based on lecture. He always goes over the info before you take the quizzes. If you have any questions or struggled on a concept, he tries to explain it to make it clear for everyone. He really wants you to succeed. He gives you the test questions before the test and picks two of the questions and you can write about one. Easy to make an A!
Prof. Naylor is amazing. The class is about common sense. Some information is kinda abstract and hard to understand but he always has related and familiar examples to explain. A lot of extra credits are offered. He is funny also. I had this SMC: self at 8:20 and I didn't sleep during the lecture.
Great professor! Second time I take this professor and I love it. Easy A and gives many opportunities for extra credit. Quizzes are based on lectures so you don't need outside reading.
Naylor is a hilarious, and great professor. He makes the class very interesting. Being honest, I came into the class thinking it was going to be a boring class considering the subject was philosophy. However, I came to realize that it is a very interesting topic to study. I would really recommend you to take this class. Very thoughtful class!
He is overall a great professor. If you have him for a 8 o'clock class, he will be as energetic and exciting as any other time. He is very caring, funny, and understanding. I hope I can take another class with him in the near future.
He is a very enjoyable professor that is very story-heavy, so be prepared for many of those, but they make the class fun and lively. He also very caring so he will put in the effort to help you if you need it and if you ask for it. Hands down one of the best professors to have at any time of the day, because his energy keeps everyone awake.
You're not graded on attendance, but everything that he mentions in the lecture will be on the pop quiz. We took T or F pop quizzes about 1 every other week and had 4 tests including the final. He offers extra credit for every test as well. Super fun class, definitely recommend it.
Professor Naylor is a very good teacher because he not only gives out a lot of extra credit opportunities but also is very reasonable with his grading. If you just go to class most of the time, take notes, and do all the extra credit you should be fine for exams. His teaching style is a little different but overall his class is great!
Naylor can turn boring topics into fun lectures. He does not require you to buy the books he lists on the bookstore. If you want to have additional study source besides lecture he posts material on canvas, but listening to lecture is good enough. I would recommend to take his class if you want something laid back.
Really cares about his students. Offers many chances for extra credit and truly wants his students to succeed in and out of the classroom. Tests can be challenging, but he walks you through it and makes sure you are well prepared ahead of exam time.
Awesome professor. He always keeps the class interesting. He gives out daily quizzes but always takes at least 20 minutes to review what will be on the quiz. As long as you pay attention during the quiz reviews you should be fine. Recommend 10/10
Naylor is the perfect professor to take for SMC: Self. He makes class interesting and personable, and is very helpful when you ask for individual help. He will help you get an A.
Professor Naylor is a really fun guy and he makes all his classes easy to follow. He is also very helpful when it comes to exams and tries his best to answer your questions or help you when needed. I would defo take his class again.
Professor Naylor breaks down complex, abstract philosophical concepts into manageable bites through his enthusiastic anecdotal teaching style. His lectures keep you engaged and his willingness to help with exam preparations shows his commitment to each individual student's growth. He is a great asset to the philosophy department at St. Mary's :)
Professor Naylor is capable of extrapolating various complex philosophical principles and personally tailoring them to each student, if necessary. I would highly recommend taking his class (SMC1311 at St Mary's University) especially for those considering a degree in philosophy, political science, psychology or criminology/sociology.
Professor Naylor's class is always interesting. He cares about the students and truly wants them to succeed. He does have 10 quizzes, but if you take good notes, you should be fine. He also does 3 exams but he will walk you through it if you go to him ahead of time. Its important to attend class because his lectures help for the quizzes and exams
Professor Naylor always makes class relatable. He has around 10 quizzes and 3 exams throughout the semester but if you attend the lectures then you should have no problem. With the exams, he gives you time to go to him during his office hours to walk you through it if you have any questions. Definitely recommend taking him!
EXCELLENT PROFESSOR 10 QUIZZES ONE EACH WEEK T/F 2 EXAMS AND ONE FINAL WITH REVIEWS FOR EACH VERY ENGAGING BUT WILL GO OFF-TOPIC OFTEN
Ethics wasn't painful and actually kind of really enjoyable for a night class. Dr. Marshall is really funny and cares about his students. He gives quizzes every day and you can't make them up if you miss so attendance is mandatory. You always know what to expect on his tests and can prepare for them by going to his office hours. He gives lots of ec
Naylor was a fun, and pretty easy going. We had a quiz every friday but if you pay attention to class you should be all set.
The professor helps you out whenever you need it. He is super funny in class and the quizzes and exams are all about what he talks about in class. I suggest not to buy the book because I didn't really use it and it really is more about what he talks about in class. This is an easy class and you will have a good time in class.
Show up to class and listen to the lectures to pass. Lectures are fun so its easy to pay attention. Visit during office hours before a test, it really helps.
Hes definitely available for office hours but isnt really clear on the grading of exams. Go to office hours and show up to class and you should be good.
His class is fairly easy. As long as you do the reviews for the test and study that you will easily get an A. His lectures aren't boring he is a very funny professor that makes class enjoyable. Highly recommend!
My favorite Professor so far. Classes are always fun and engaging, and with only 10 quizzes and 3 exams the class is easy to pass. Great easy lectures, looking forward to taking the professor again!
This class is fairly easy with just weekly quizzes and a few exams. The topics can sometimes be complex but he really tries to give real life examples to the theories covered. He is always willing to offer help with understanding the material. It also helps that his class is very entertaining. Definitely try to take Naylor if you can!
Professor Naylor is very good at relating big philosophical ideas to real-life situations. He values all the opinions of the students and allows for great class discussion. You have to go to class or you will miss essential topics that will be on the quizzes and exams. However, he offers help through extra credit opportunities.
Great teacher each lecture was unique and entertaining
great teacher, super funny and very interactive with the class!
I loved this class. There was never a dull moment. Would absolutley take this professor again!
He mostly uses metaphors, and draws on the chalkboard. This often leads to tangents and him asking for your opinion on subjects typically involving himself.
I took his ethics night class and the structure and his personality made the class pretty easy to get through as it was 3 hours long each week. Definitely recommend!
Great teacher, just show up and be focused. Hes mad cool.
Dr. Naylor is an amazing professor, he is not only kind but is willing to answer any question you have not matter how philosophical or not. He really cares about the success of all his students not matter if they showed up to one or all his classes.
This professor was great ! Easy to talk to and easy to understand. He used real world examples that helped us understand the topics with ease.
He engages with the class by providing real world examples or asks students if anything similar in their lives relates to the lesson being taught. He encourages participation. He always asks us if we have any questions to asks or if we have any comments to make.
Professor Naylor makes the course very interesting by relating the material to real life situation and adding some humor. Attendance is not mandatory but if you don't go you will miss essential topics as well as the quizzes and essay exams.
He is a great professor and very funny. You will have 4-5 essays to do during the semester but they are pretty straight forward. I would recommend going to class and take notes from the lectures as he gives weird but good examples that you will remember and the essay will be easy with your notes. Also you will have pretty easy quizzes every Friday.
It's a super easy class. If you show up to every lecture, there's no need for you to do any of the readings. The class can get a little redundant because he explains the same thing over a couple times with long-winded examples. There's weekly T/F quizzes and the tests are essays (prompts are given ahead of time) which are pretty straight forward.
Professor Naylor is very respectful and hilarious. He makes every class enjoyable and fun. The only book we use is very small and we honestly learn more from him than the book. He jokes a lot and does so do not take offense to anything he says he simply joking and is an incredible teacher. If you want a good professor then take this class.
Professor Naylor is fun and enthusiastic about what he is teaching and makes every class fun and entertaining. He has a hilarious personality and actually cares about making sure his students are learning something from every class. Some of the topics are confusing but do not hesitate to go to his office hours or send him an email. He will answer.
Such an amazing professor. He makes lectures funny and likes to interact with the students to make the material more relatable and understanding. Class isn't really mandatory but it helps since he gives good examples to be able to use for his tests which are essays. There are weekly T/F quizzes that are easy as long as you pay attention to lectures
Overall great professor , the class is heavy lecture but he makes it enjoyable because of his humor . The class is quizzes every Friday that are true and false , and 3 or 4 exams(our class was thrown off because of the virus ).
He is hilarious and really makes the lectures fun and exciting! I would take it again in a heartbeat!
I really enjoyed taking this class. Lectures are a lot to take in but I liked that he was very interactive with the class and used real life examples. Quizzes are every Friday (about 10 questions; T and F). Exams are in essays. Lots of extra credit opportunities are given.
Naylor is a good guy. He truly tries to help you as much as he can to make you understand the content. Be sure to do the extra credit, that's what helps you on exams.
He was hilarious and engaging and kept me awake during an 8:20 class. He makes his lectures personable and personal and you're sure to remember what ya'll talked about. I didn't really do a lot of reading because he covers the material in class comprehensively. Only issue is your only grades are T/F quizzes and essays. But he offers extra cred.
Professor Naylor is a very fun professor that gives real world situations so that the students can better understand the material. He is very understanding and easy-going and will help as much as you need. Typically is available and easy to contact.
Honestly Professor Naylor is the only good teacher for SMC self. His grading scale isn't necessarily clear, and the exams are worth 75% of your overall grade. BUT if you do the extra credit, which is usually super easy, and participate in class, you're basically guaranteed an A.
Professor Naylor is great at explaining and teaching the subjects to philosophy. Class is very interesting and fun.
Very comical and funny professor. Engages the class and has a good time while communicating the material. The quizzes at the end of the week along with the exams are your only grades. Exams are essays that are written out in class however you get 4 prompts before and he picks 2 of those and you get to choose 1 from those two to write about.
Really fun and enthusiastic teacher. Does not give out homework. You will get a quiz every week with 10 true or false questions. 3 exams during the course of semester. Easy to talk to and ask questions one of the best teachers.
I would highyl recommend Naylor because he gave great amazing lecture that were easily to understand. He gives extra credit for each assigment we did. When you need help he is always makes time to help you out!
Great professor who is passionate about what he teaches and wants his students to learn. The textbook is "required", but I personally found it confusing to read and not helpful for quizzes when I studied. Therefore, GO TO CLASS, his lectures are directly correlated with quizzes and essays. Go to class and take good notes and you will pass!
Naylor is fantastic, if you need the credit you need to take Naylor. Its the standard work load maybe a little less if anything. He is super funny and relatable. He also makes sure everyone understands the content. If 1 person is confused be prepared for another explanation.
Naylor is a good professor but tends to get off topic during lectures sometimes. Other than that he is very friendly and always willing to help!
Professor Naylor enjoys what he teaches and thoroughly explains the material through modern perspectives students can better understand. He is readily available if you need help. Although there are only three exams, he has various opportunities for extra credit.
Professor Naylor is such a charismatic person and incorporates enthusiastic lectures into every class. He thrives on students' participation in class to further discussion on the material and makes it more easily to be understood. He also allows opportunities for extra credit and is very understanding when it comes to helping students learn.
Dr. Naylor is a great professor always willing to give his students the help they need. He uses real life examples instead of random things out of the book and will go more in depth if necessary. He only does quizzes once a week and a total of 3-4 exams that are essays. He also gives multiple extra credit opportunities.
Professor Naylor really helps you succeed in his class. He is accessible in and out of class for any questions you have. He makes his lectures relate to real life experiences and hes super funny.
For the most part, every AM class I have, it's very hard for me to stay awake. However, Naylor's enthusiastic way of teaching made me wide awake during his 8 AM lectures, that's a gift not many professors have. While, some of the grading turned out to be a bit more tougher than expected, I would still take his class, if given the opportunity.
Professor Naylor is a great professor, he makes the material clear to understand by making the class fun and engaging, and if you have any questions he does a great job of going further into detail so you can understand the topic. He makes the class fun to go to and he is very helpful with all of his work.
Professor Naylor is honestly the best professor at St. Mary's University. He not only teaches, but he also cares for his students. He will literally go over something as many times until you finally get it. He is hilarious and very nice. His quizzes are a bit confusing, but he offers a lot of easy extra credit.
I have really enjoyed taking Professor Naylor's class! Not only is he a great teacher who knows how to capture our attention, he genuinely cares. Professor Naylor makes sure everyone knows and understands the material before moving on. Attendance is not necessary but really helps! Lastly, he gives loads of extra credit!
Professor Naylor is one of the best profs I've had. He is always there for help and gives lots of extra credit. He likes for people to talk and engage with him in class and if you do you will get an easy A.
This class was very enjoyable. He made every lecture interesting by making jokes and relating the material to real life experiences and offered extra credit which was very helpful.
Personally, I would never take this guys class again but it also could have been worse. It is a class you can get an A in but you have to deal with a lot of weird and long tangents throughout the class, he almost never seems prepared, and sometimes he can make things more confusing than they have to be. Just pay attention.
Mediocre professor but easy to talk to and easy class! He definitely helps you if you just ask.
Professor Naylor is highly passionate about what he lectures about. He uses personal examples to demonstrate what is being talked about in class that day. There are many extra credit opportunities provided throughout the semester that help balance out tougher ideas taught within the class.
Hes one of my favorite professors Ive had in college so far :)) His lectures are very entertaining; it made the 8:20 much more bearable. Hes also a very caring professor, and will do whatever he can to help you, all you have to do is ask!! He gives A LOT of extra credit, so take advantage of every opportunity!! Youll love him :)
Naylor is truly one of a kind professor. I would be surprised to see someone just as similar to the way he teaches. He is always relatable with the class and also makes you feel like you got your money's worth. I recommend everyone to Naylor you will not regret it.
A very passionate professor who really does a great job explaining a complicated topic. Listen and ask questions.
Dr. Marshall Naylor makes the class expectations very clear. You just have to show up to class in order to avoid missing pop quizzes (they are usually easy), he doesn't take attendance though, but it is always good to show up for the lectures. The lectures are very interesting and can be very funny at times. His way of teaching is truly amazing.
Really nice and willing to help. Tons of extra credit! make sure to submit your essay for extra credit, he will help you go in the right direction and help for a better grade on exams!
Professor Naylor is a great professor that is completely animated in class which makes the class engaging. He gives you all the tools necessary to do well in his class, but attendance is absolutely mandatory, otherwise, you won't understand any of the examples that he will use and refer back to throughout each unit.
Can be difficult to follow, must be involved in lectures if you dont want to be clueless during the quizzes. Quizzes are pretty easy for the most part, exams can be confusing but doable.
