I really enjoyed this class. Although the exams are unreasonably hard I still learned a lot. Camps is a very sweet woman. I would recommend taking a class with her if you are willing to work hard.

she was hired as a temp for bioanth; her strength is archaeology. tests were difficult but the class was warned on the first day. she is actually a nice woman and at the end proved to be fair. dont listen to the very negative comments. most of the class were a bunch of whiny, spoiled freshmen who were obviously not prepared for college level classe

I see that for anth she didn't have very good reviews, but she just started teaching spanish here and she was awesome. When she thought the tests given by the dept were too hard she modified them so that they were fair. She also has this great sense of humor and makes class really fun as well as teaching a lot about spanish. I highly recommend her.

She helped the entire class out whenever they needed help. was very considerate to the needs of the students and asked if we wanted to make any suggestions for the syllabus. awesome professor

Best Spanish Professor I've had at GW. I always slacked off and done poorly in Spanish before I had Professor Camps, but she made it clear that she held me to a higher standard, and helped me to get there. I've never had a Professor be so helpful both during and after class. Definitely take Camps if you get the chance.

She tries to make the class fun and doesn't take attendance, great prof! She is a little hard with grading, but fair.

Dr. Camps is an extremely nice and helpful professor. she always says in class "i'm here to help you and not out to get you." her tests are very easy, but most importantly she is willing to help! She's one of the best professors i've had! Take her!!

Dr. Camps is an excellent teacher who is very engaged with her students and the material. She's friendly and approachable and manages to keep a stress-free but studious environment, which I haven't found many teachers capable of doing.

Took her over the summer and thought she was great. Really helped us prepare for tests and made sure there were no surprises. She had a laid back attitude and didn't mind us making spanish a bit more fun by relating it to things we like.

What to say about Momma M... She's sort of a Nazi, but sort of a softy too. Like, she's terrifying and intimidating (QUESTIONS! QUESTIONS! WHO HAS QUESTIONS?), but then gives a 70 question test and only counts 50 of them, so half the class gets above 100. Lectures are so boring, but probably not her fault. Impossible to figure out what to study.

good class. she has a great deal of knowledge in the subject (She went to Cambridge and Oxford). It was slightly pointless to go to class, because her lectures came straight out of the book, but she was very nice and tried her best to make class interesting, including a field trip. amazingly easy tests, go to class and read and you will get an A

Interesting class. Camps was unnecessarily harsh at times (all but 4 people dropped out of my class). We had some good, meaningful discussions though. She expects a lot out of her students and she definitely won't coddle you. Don't take her if you aren't willing to participate and work hard--but if you put in the effort you will probably get an A.

Extremely hepful, cares a lot for the students and always takes our side, when there is a problem. Very demanding, she will make you work hard, but she is very fair when grading. She expects a lot from her students, but she rewards you if you show interest and make the effort. Totally recomend her!

I had tried to learn Spanish before and I was ready to give up. Professor Camps' class made me change my mind. I learnt so much, in just one term! She made me work real hard, but helped me throughout and never minded about any questions or doubts. At the end, she rewarded me for the effort and encouraged me to continue!

What everyone is saying is untrue & most likely written by someone who didn't stick out the 1st week. Dr. Camps does have her rules, but as long as you follow them and respect her you will do well. Unlike many other teachers at GW, Dr. Camps genuinely cares about how you do in the course. She's a great teacher. Take the time to get to know her.

Dr. Camps is awesome. She's tough, but just follow her rules and you will succeed. Once you get to know her, you will see how hilarious she is. She wants her students to do well.

Professor Camps is the best. I have never met a prof who is so dedicated to students. She wants you do do well, and she makes you work hard, but if you put in the effort, she is always there for you and she rewards you. It is clear that all those negative comments were written by lazy idiots who thought they could get an A without doing anything.

In short: so good, I'm taking her class (next level!) next semester. Those who wrote bad reviews clearly did not attend her classes!

Fantastic Prof. Very nice, fair, funny and kind. It is true, the class is hard work, but she is always ready to help you. I had a great time and learnt a lot of Spanish. I recommend her 100% and when she teaches higher levels, I will be there!

Super nice, very helpful, totally dedicated to her students. It's a tough course,but she works to give us materials to improve the book's info, and looks for ways to give as many points as possible.Hard work, but totally rewarding. Now I know I can do well in Spanish. Take her class if you can! Who are the idiots who hated her? Awesome & fun.

She at first seems very tough and strict, but after a while she becomes nice. She is still tough, but she will help you learn a lot. Don't take this class without expecting homework everyday.

Really nice. I learnt a lot. She wants people to make the effort and makes you work hard, but she rewards you and encourages you all the time. She goes the extra mile for her students. Lots of work, but fantastic professor. I hope she teaches higher levels next year!! Very fun class too

I took Prof. Camps' class last term, and I loved it. She is a wonderful professor and very helpful. She encourages you to work hard, but if you do so, when you have a problem she is very understanding. I appreciate she doesn't allow people to stretch in class, it bugs me too! Lots of homework, that is true, but its the program, not the professor.

I am an athlete and I am taking Professor Camps' SPAN 002 class now. It is absolutely false that she is not flexible with schedules. She changed the date of an exam so that I could play my game and I could take the test with the rest of the class. Whoever said she is not flexible is lying. She is really nice and supportive! I wish she taught SPAN-3

Awesome Professor. Very strict, yes, but work hard, speak up in class, and ask lots of questions (seriously, she gets mad if you don't) and you'll do well and learn TONS. My spanish improved tenfold, especially speaking. She wants her students to do well and to be prepared for the department exams and final. PS She LOVES Bhangra and FC Barcelona

Fantastic Prof! I loved her class. I worked hard but she rewarded the effort and helped me all the way. She answered all the questions from all students and made grammar seem easy and clear. I can't believe somebody thinks she is mean: I'm actually sad that she is not teaching SPAN1002! Clearly, you don't belong in university, because she rocks!

Awesome prof! I really appreciated that she quicked out those who did not belong in the basic level. She focused on our doubts, and supported us all the way. She was really understanding when I had personal issues and made sure I got back on track when ready. I did not get that from many of my professors. Mean? not at all. Strict and hardworking.

This professor will scare you away for one or two weeks, but please stay in her class. She is the BEST. She sometimes comes of as a mean professor, but she is just trying to teach her lessons. She is helpful and compassionate in the long run. Loved professor Camps!

Camps is awesome. I got to class with no Spanish whatsoever and spent Spring Break in Mexico, getting around in Spanish. She will make you work, but you DO learn the language. Very supportive and lots of fun, despite the hard work. Absolutely love her!

Fantastic prof, really: super helpful to everybody, very dedicated and supportive. You learn a lot and she remembers if you have issues and asks you how things are going, if you need more time, etc. The amount of work is not her fault, it´s the program. Take her class if you can, you will really learn spanish and will talk it before term ends.

Want to learn Spanish? Take this class. Great prof. she really cares for everybody, and it made a difference. I thought I would never make it and she proved me wrong. She was right when she said it was team work, and she works with you all the way. The amount of work is not up to her, it is the program. Take this class, you won´t regret it.

Camps is great. Seriously, I worked hard, but had lots of fun too and got what I wanted: started to learn Spanish. She can be a bit scary in the beginning, but she just wants to weed out lazy kids or those who know the language and want the easy credit. She is actually super sweet and understanding. I loved her class! Absolutely recommend it.

Wonderful professor. Absolutely recommend her: you learn a lot and have a good time. She is very supportive of all the students. You do need not work, but the reward is that you learn Spanish. She is the best!!

I loved Camps' class! OMG she has so much energy!! I never was good in languages, but thanks to her, this changed. I know I can do it, she helped me so much. She can be tough, but you can see it's for your good. Oh and thanks for kicking lazzy idiots and easy credit seekers out to begin with, that made things much better! I love her!!

Great class, super nice professor. It is true she makes you work, but if you don't plan on working, what are you doing in a uni? I changed into her class from another section: best move I have ever made!!

I'm not good at languages and started Spanish thinking I would fail. Camps took my progress as team work and was determined not to fail. That was encouraging. I worked hard, but on the other side, I don't know any other profs that stay in their offices until 8 or 9 PM because a student needs help. She did that. Nice, kind, understanding. Take her.

Very helpful. May appear and sound tough, but it is just the cover. The book sucks, but she can explain every bit crystal clear, so it is not so bad. Really good, totally recommended.

Best professor in the Spanish Department by far. Explains everything, makes sure you understand, you end up loving Spanish and i give all the credit to her! She'll make you work hard, but it is worth every second. Take her!

Loved her class in SPAN 1001 and 1003 was even better. If you want to learn Spanish and have a good professor, take her. She is on the students' side and always ready to help. Tough at first, great fun afterwards. Compared to her classes, SPAN 1002 was awful. Would take her again any time.

Professor Camps is an amazing professor! Although she seems mean and very strict at first, it is just a front to weed out all of the lazy students. The class is hard, but she will do all she can to help you. She will always be on your side, even against an unfair department. All of the work she assigns was integral to learning Spanish too.

You can really tell who attended Camps' classes to get an easy A! Don't listen to them, she is a fab prof and will always help you, without exception. I would take again if he taught higher levels, and so would the rest of my classmates, no doubt. She is the best teacher of this university!

Fantastic Professor. I tried to get into her class before and never made it, but this term I got in and it has been the best Spanish class of my life. Funny, witty, supper supportive, great lady!

Camps may seem mean and strict but she only wants you to work hard and put in the effort. Excellent class, super nice and supportive professor, 100% with her students. Grades fairly, understanding when homework is late, etc. I would take her again without a doubt.
