This professor has been teaching chemistry since 1980 something.... I am kidding i have no clue, but she knows chemistry to the point that she might be the great grand daughter of chemistry's mother.Ok? lol take her, she is the best chemistry teacher in MDC/Kendall.3-4 tests. No extra credit. maybe not a easy A but for sure an easy B. read the book

professor is good at what she does but confuses you on the test. Questions are tricky. Only 4 exams in class and no homework and no extra credit you either do good on test or not pass basically. She knows her stuff but if you are a bad test taker I would advise you not to take her.

She goes over the lecture clear but kind of assumes you know things as she is teaching. If you ask a question she kind of gets annoyed does not like to be interrupted. I dont like that..She seems like a nice person and does not care for attendance..2 exams and 2 midterms. no xtra credit..just that study....

She is not a bad teacher at ALL. Class seems easy but the test challenge your knowledge. You cant laid back. you have to be on top of the material everyday. She's really funny and she doesn't pick her favorites. Really prepared teacher and really hard material. I fail the 1 & 2nd test and the last 2 and final help me to get a B!

She's an awesome teacher..she's funny, helpful, the thing is that we are used to easy classes and organic is not. Before each test she send an specific test breakdown and u can have an idea of whats she's going to ask u. She is not mean..dont believe those comments plz..BEST MDC teacher ever. This professor explains really good all the material... If you study you will be fine, I'm actually taking her and I so far I got A's in both tests. What I like the most about her teaching is how she explains things. I recommend her anytime, some people of course do bad in the class but that is inevitable, take her you won't regret it. :)

This professor is one of the best I have had at MDC. She really knows her stuff and makes chemistry easy to learn. I was nervous to take this class because I have never taken a chemistry class before, but she made it easy to understand all the material. Studying is a must but its chemistry! 4 tests, midterm and final. No mandatory homework.

This professor is awesome! I took 1045 with another professor and completely failed. I took 1025 with her and 1045 with her and got A's. She is extremely helpful and her exams are not easy but do-able. You must be on top on your h.w. There are 4 exams plus a final and the lowest grade gets replaced. TAKE HER AND NO ONE ELSE.You won't be sorry.

Wow! Dr. Pappas is unique to say the least. She does a good job explaining tricky material. However, if you cannot follow directions, she has no patience for you. Shes the best professor at MiamiDade hands down. She is extremely knowledgeable and pushes you to learn and have discipline in your studies, which prepares you to be successful in any class. She is very assertive and is clear in what she expects and has a zero tolerance for laziness. If you show interest and hard work her class will be the best!<3

Incredible teacher, very nice and loves the subject that she teaches. Together with her husband she wrote the book we use in this class and that was definitely a plus. She thoroughly covers the material that will be on the test. Tests are fairly easy, if you study! Most importantly, attendance is a must! I HIGHLY recommend her.

She really has an attitude problem, very very rude sometimes, don't even dare to arrive late to an exam, she won't let you take it period, and on top of that, she doesn't want to give any makeup exam, she is very strict, aside from, great professor, really knows her stuff and she knows how to explain the material crystal clarity!

She is good at teaching but her test are really tricky and hard however if you study with time ahead and understand the material and practice you'll do good on the test.

Pappas is one of the best professors at Dade!!! She makes everything super clear and teaches straight from the module book, which is great considering that she wrote it; so she knows it inside and out. You have to study, but what do u expect? To start off this class is not an easy class you must study and pay attention. Attendance is not mandatory but I suggest you attend every single class. She isn't the sweetest and she is very sarcastic but she is one of the best and most knowledgable professor in Miami Dade. She explains everything with tremendous clarity.

Best chem prof ever! I got an A in her class. It was a very hard class but you have to put your effort into it. Shes very strict and only bases grades on your exams. no extra credit, either you did good in exams and passed or did bad and failed. Study the worksheet she gives in class. Do the module hw. Go to the extra credit PLTL class she offers! Pappas made me love chem, she is great,you just need to put in the time.

She is organized and material is presented very clear. Make sure you read the modules, work on the problems and also work on the appendix problems and you will do fine!! Tests are mostly multiple choice. Final will replace lowest grade. She grades fairly. I enjoyed this class very much and I would take her again!! Study and you will pass!!

Very good professor! She's rude and sarcastic most of the time, but she teaches very well, which is what matters the most to me. She goes over the experimental procedures @ the beginning of the labs. By the end of the semester she was a lot nicer; I think that once she knows you are interested, she shows you respect. Very picky grading lab reports!

This was my 2nd time taking her. I had previously taken her for CHM1025 and now for CHM1033. She is a bit rude. The tests were tough but she gives you sample tests online & podcasts. She also gives you handouts which outline the entire chapter. Her lectures were clear and she gives extra credit. I got an B for 1025 and an A and a B in 1033.

This Professor to be honest is pretty good at teaching, if you pay attention you do learn chemistry however she does not liked to be asked questions, makes the tests extremely hard and if you want to at least pass you have to study.... a lot.

I did a Chemistry bachelor in Cuba and graduated in 2008. Thus, I LOVE chemistry and I have gone through this material already. However, I had to study for this class, she explains clearly the topic but there is a lot of information to be learned in every module. Make sure you practice a lot using the questions in the book and answering Appendix 8

So far its been pretty difficult. She goes over the material really well but you have to put in the time or you won't do well. She gives you handouts in class and we all work together to fill it out. HER TESTS ARE HARD. If you want a decent grade you HAVE to be able to answer all the problems in the book and know how to really do them.

You must attend lectures and stay there fully for the class. She spoon feeds the information but you must dedicate time to study. The tests are difficult so be ready. Test 2 is the most difficult. She takes her time to explain and answers questions on the stop. She does NOT tolerate cheating at all. 4 tests & 1 final which replaces worst grade.

Professor Pappas is the best, Orgo is not an easy subject but she explains it so well and helps you if you have any questions. Really an outstanding teacher, extremely funny. You use the module book which is great and has tons of questions to practice. Very helpful and it was just an overall great experience.

Since this review's for CHM2211, if you managed to do well in Orgo 1, there really should be no issue with Orgo 2. I thought it was was much harder than 1, but that just meant more studying. I already had the basics down. She was an awesome in CHM2210 and stayed awesome in CHM2211. Best chemistry professor in the world. Beware: Hilarious sarcasm!!!

This is the professor you have to take to create a solid foundation for future chem classes. The material itself is difficult but she does a great job teaching it and engaging students. Do her suggested assignments and you will pass.

Great professor. Took her my first semester in college for chemistry, which I was previously really bad in and therefore hated the subject, but she helped me understand it and I aced the class! For some it's a hard subject but she is very helpful, straightforward and clear. She can be a bit sarcastic and a little bit rude though.

She's great she give no homework and she tells you what you need to know and its important to study, tells you whats going to be on test in blackboard which is important to look at. She has no sympathy if you come late on test date or don't follow instructions give you an F on test. She's easy if you study, i would take again!no book needed.

Amazing professor, she works with you if you don't understand something and she even has additional podcasts on iTunes in case you need more help. She will give study guides and is very clear in lectures. No homework just four tests and a final. I wish she taught the next level of Chemistry. You don't need the book.

All I have to say about this class is study, study, study, and do not skip class! You can recieve A's on your exam as long as you study in advance and attend class. Her personality isn't all that great but she will help you one on one if you go to her office hours. I really enjoyed her lectures, I do not regret taking her class.

Overall she is a good teacher, but she lectures too fast. Study the material before the class and you will understand everything she says. If you don't study you won't pass. Don't expect miracles. Chem 1033 is hard so if you have other options instead go for it. I got a B.

Best professor in MDC , take her!! Don't skip class because you'll be lost , record her classes if you can so you can listen to it later, trust me if you do it you'll get an A. 2 test and 1 final and then 2 more rest and another final. No homework but I recommend to do the multiple choice sheets that she gives. You gonna love her!

I would highly recommend her! She is very clear on her lectures. There are 6 exams, she divides the class in half so you get 2 exams for the first modules and a final, and the same for the second half. She gives you practices worksheets on blackboard that helps get familiar with the material and prepare for exams. Loved the class! Got an A

okay.. this is my second review for this professor. i don't understand why her ratings are so bad. she is by far the best chemistry professor i have ever had in my life. literally all you have to do it put in study time and make sure you can do every problem in her module book and you'll be fine. she tells you the chapters that will be on the test.

She is very helpful. Yes it is chemistry and you do have to put in effort to pass but she is there to help whenever you need her. She has stayed in several occasions after class with me answering questions. If you show her you care she will help you believe me. Studying is a must but from her workbook, it is manageable. 4 Tests and an opt final

Her lectures are fast paced but very straight forward and clear. She uses her own module book, which is very handy and filled with examples. Her class consisted of four exams and one final, the final can replace one bad grade. She's also available during her office hours, where she'll help you understand anything you didn't get in class.

I am a foreign student and English is not my first Language. But I REALLY like her class because it is very clear and straightforward for me . She is always there to help you in her office and she cares about her students, because she gives extra credits and will explain to you if you go to her office. I will take her for CHM1025 for this spring !

Chemistry is a difficult subject. However, she is a great professor that will always be there when you have questions. The tests are TRICKY so you do have to study A LOT. 4 tests and a MANDATORY final. She tends to forget to pass out the attendance sheet but if you don't go to class you definitely won't pass. She makes jokes and tries to help you.

Great teacher!! Lectures were straight to the point, she even have them recorded in podcast so you can heard them over and over, that's what I used to do. You wont need to buy a book because she sends handouts so you can print it. Dont talk or use your phone during class because that drives her crazy. TAKE HER!

Professor Goicoechea is good, but unless you like Chemistry and you are really good at it, don't take her. 4 test and a mandatory final. The exams are so HARD. I studied weeks before each test and did all the reviews but still didn't get the grade I was expecting. I consider the test too hard for a General Chemistry class.

This proff. can be rude but aside from that, she tries to dumb down everything. Her book is very easy to understand if you read the modules and examples, you also have numerous of problems to work on to prepare you for the exams. I didn't go to many lectures and relied on the book and STEM center throughout the semester. You have to work for an A.

Pappas is an amazing professor. Her tests are mostly written, some questions multiple choice. She uses her own book for lecture. But if you take her for Orgo 1, you must take her for Orgo 2 since material covered and teaching methods differ per professor. But you MUST study on your own!! I could not imagine a better professor for CHEM 2210/2211.

Okay so I posted here when I was a freshman in CHM1025, I didn't like her because she was very rude. But let me tell you forget that! I just finished my CHM1045 and I miss having a professor that can actually teach and actually learned from. Appreciate her teaching strategies because its something MOST professors do not have, especially at MDC.

This professor is amazing! Her lectures are fantastic and very informative, you'll learn the subject matter if you pay attention and do the review questions in the book. Her tests tend to be a little tricky and you HAVE to study. Midterm and final replace your two lowest test scores, she gives so many chances to do well. Very caring!

She teaches the materials pretty good, but her test are hard, but doable. You have to read her textbook and do the problems from each chapter because it would prep you for the test. If your that type of person who is lazy and dont like studying, than dont take this professor. You have to put a lot of your time in this class.

I really enjoyed CHM 1033. First time ever taking a CHM class and it was really challenging but Professor Pappas did her best to help us understand. she makes her own textbook/workbook that you follow along during lecture. Attendance is not mandatory but trust me you do not want to miss one single class!

Fantastic teacher. Explains the subject well and goes over every topic thoroughly. Tests are hard, but if you study and do all the problems in the book (which is only $25 btw) you should do well on the tests. They are very tricky, but totally doable. Wish I could take her for higher level courses!

The Best Chemistry Professor I've encountered!! You do have to study everyday and learn the material in and out, but that's up to you. Attendance not mandatory, but if you skip class, you will be lost and fail. Tests are hard, but if you can't pass this, time for a career change. Mixed reviews here, but I have to say, very good Chemistry professor. It is a hard class in which you obviously have to study hard. She is very generous with her curving the grades!!! Her grades are just based on tests and are challenging, but you can do this if you study correctly for her exams. She prepares you for what's to come in nursing.

Pappas is definitely one of my favorites, shes funny and makes the class entertaining even when its a difficult subject. You have to go to class to pass the class. But it requires a lot of work and practice to pass the test with an A. Her practice test and the homework in the book are really good practice for the tests.

I love her, shes hilarious and really good at explaining the material. You do have to work hard for an A, because its a lot to memorize. The material is heavy but if you do the homework in every chapter and the practice test and actually understand every question. You will pass with an A.

You have to work for your grade. Her book is almost identical to her exams. If you cant hack it in this class as a premed, change your major, because this is by FAR one of the easier professors. The questions in her book are harder than her tests, and they explain the material thoroughly. THIS IS A WEED OUT COURSE. DONT EXPECT AN EASY ROAD.

Awesome chemistry professor! Her book has a few mistakes, but if you ask her about a problem she will tell you if it's wrong in the book or not. There aren't many. If you do every problem in the book, you should ace the class. Tests are easy. Notice how everyone complaining has qualms about memorizing formulas. Don't listen to the lazy.

She's a really great orgo professor. She teaches her class handout style so you learn by doing packets in class. Orgo is difficult on its own so you have to really study and not cram because it is a lot of information. Her tests are pretty hard, test two is probably the hardest one. People that rated her badly because they failed or got a bad grade in 1025 is because they honestly didnt study enough or didnt at all. She is concerned with people learning the material, so her tests are insanely hard. Her lectures are easy to understand and she explains well, but you definitely got to put in the work for the tests - she doesn't pull punches in that department.

She honestly teaches so well. If you actually dedicate time and effort to the class you will pass. I didnt end up with an A bc I folded on the final and didnt study enough. Shes also very blunt and straight forward. I personally loved her; yes the class is hard but its supposed to be. You get the grade you earn in the class tbh.

I think she was a good 1046 professor. She does give extra credit in the test! Her test were between 110-120 points, they were confusing but they were based on her book. People who complain about the test difficulty just didn't study and expected an easy A. She also gives a packet in class about every chapter, very helpful!

You NEED the textbook. There is online homework for each chapter. Attendance isnt counted, but she teaches the lesson in class. You could learn the info on your own too, but its easier to get an A if you attend. There is a cumulative final that replaces your lowest grade. Theres only 5 tests and the final.

This whole time I was my own teacher. Her exams require time to complete and comprehend what the question is saying and shouldn't have so many questions, yet she thinks we're like the flash.

She is a fair professor. She is also not going to take you by the hand and spoon feed you. I liked her a lot because she treated me like an adult and expected that of me. I also went to see her multiple times in her office and she was always more than willing to explain what I didn't understand. She is not easy but you will learn if you study hard.

Good teacher during the covid pandemic. Took this class during summer. I felt as if the last few chapters were rushed, but besides that, she was a fine lecturer.

Amazing chemistry professor. Wrote the textbook (very affordable) which explains topics much more clearly than other texts available. Tests can be challenging because of the material but if you complete all the homework and follow along with the lectures, you will certainly learn a lot and pass the class with a good grade.

Professor Pappas is an amazing professor, she explains the material thoroughly and is funny. Like any chemistry or math class you have to make an effort and study. The textbook for the class has numerous practice problems within the chapters and the appendix as well. Make an effort to learn the material and you'll earn an A.

I learned more from her textbook than her lectures. Her textbook has some mistakes but the info inside was structured & concise, esp the chapter reviews on the back. I took professor Pappas for CHM1025 and now again for CHM1045. Hands down, one of the best chem professors at Kendall. She expects you to act like an adult and treats you as such. If you're looking for a teacher to baby you, then take someone else. She's available during office hours and after class to answer questions if you ever need help.

This class is super hard if you take it during the summer, the Professor is on a tight scheduled and will speed through some lesson if the class is close to an exam date! get ready to study countless hours because the lecture are not enough, the professor will remind you to do this. Orgo is a hard subject. I flew through CHM 1045 & 46 no problem, but orgo really made me work. Prof Pappas is a good and clear prof (after all she did write the book). she has 4 exams and a final (which replaces lowest grade). no hw, so you need to make sure you practice often. She is happy to answer questions and is very understanding.

She provides everything you need to memorize and explains how it will be used later. Attendance is taken but not graded, she also records all lectures. She provides her book (super cheap), she teaches from the exercise problems in it and provides more problems for you to practice. Overall, id take again 1000x. Super nice, helpful, and understanding

She is a very good professorand teaches really well but the class is not easy. You will learn and go out of her class with a strong fundation in chemistry. I tood her for 1045 ans 1046 and passed both courses with A. Gives extra credit and explains really well and I would totally recommend her unless you only want an easy A. GOOD LUCK.

The class is extremelly difficult but you will learn a lot of chemestry with her. Take her if you want to actually learn. If you are looking for an easy A don't even consider taking her

You will either learn a lot of chemestry in this course or fail it. She is a very good teacher and knows her stuff but her class is not easy at all. Good luck.

If you want to actually LEARN for MCAT, nursing, DAT, etc. she will teach you. Theres a LOT of info and she does her best explaining. If you need more help she will help you during office hours. I had her for 1025&1046L and shes the best professor I've ever had. But if you dont put in work she wont either. She will definitely match your energy.

She is tough, but if you pay attention and if you go to her during office hours and ask questions then she will help you. She is not up for this generation's need to be spoon-fed. She does teach, not in the way that most people teach. She teaches by going through problems in her book, but you'll understand if you do the work.

The professor is extremely knowledgeable in her subject and makes the material easy to understand. The textbook she uses is very affordable and includes plenty of practice problems, as well as multiple choice questions for exam preparation. Her class is not easy, but as long as you attend her lectures and study the material you will do well.

Take her in order to develop a solid foundation for a challenging subject. If you take the easy way out early on, you'll only set yourself up for trouble in the long run. Take her for 1025 and 1045. Re-watch her lectures and complete the exercises in the book. Go to her office hours and bring her your questions. Her class is difficult but worth it.

10 Thumbs UP!! If you need chemistry for your career, Dr. Pappas is the best. She explains the material clearly and prepares you for future courses. Some negative reviews may come from those not truly interested in chemistry. Like all STEM classes, success requires effort—she makes it worth it.

If you are a winner then you want to take her classes! Dr. Pappas delivers amazing lectures and, while she is tough, she truly prepares you to be an excellent student. Thanks to her, future chemistry classes feel much easier, and you'll have the foundation and confidence to succeed without difficulty.

I've always used RateMyProfessor to choose classes, and I almost skipped Dr. Pappas because of some reviews. I'm so glad I didn't-- this turned out to be one of the best classes I've ever taken. If I could, I would take her class over and over again. She's tough, but truly amazing. Don't lose your chance for a remarkable semester :)

I was very surprised of the bad reviews. Out of all my professors she would ask every single time at the end of class if there were any questions. I always asked. She helped me with the homework, and any questions or doubts that I had. She is an amazing professor. If you really want to learn take her.
