Basically, she is freaking awesome!
Klesath is a nice woman and, at times, can be a great teacher. Unfortunately, she's very disorganized and lecture is almost pointless considering that she posts notes online. Only 2 tests during semester (with final as third). MUST do well in lab, which is time-consuming, in order to do well in the class. Not horrible teacher, but could be better.
She is a very nice professor. She is very clear in lecture and very knowledgable. Has supplementary notes online which is a huge help in preparing for the exams as well as catching up if you missed a lecture. Exams are very long for the 50 min. Overall I highly recommend she is a great professor! Only con is she does not teach 421.
Very nice woman, but overwhelming with information: some of it is relatively useless. Lectures aren't necessary if you want a B or <. Lab is worth 40% of grade but can be as overwhelming as lecture with memorization. Expect no less than a few hours a day of studying if you want to do well. This class is basically TWO classes.
Dr. Klesath is an excellent teacher. Sometimes she rushes through material, but overall is very clear in what she will cover on exams. Those who say lecture isn't necessary are wrong, there is a lot of information covered and lecture helps reinforce the material. But, you MUST read the book to do well in the lecture. Lab is difficult too.
Very good professor, good at explaining. Although for some people, don't think lecture would be necessary for doing well in class. Lab + lecture = too much work. Lab should be its own class, just too much all together and, as often happens, felt disconnect between lecture and lab. Had 4 exams in lecture.
Dr. Klesath's lectures are useless. She's a very nice person and is always positive, but she is incredibly hard to follow during class. Posts topic outlines and summaries for each unit which is helpful, but you have to teach yourself from the book. Lab is A LOT of material and it's all memorization. No cumulative final in lecture though.
She's a bit hard to follow, but she tries really hard to keep you awake and interested. She never gives a question on a test she didn't like as a student (for example, true/false), which is nice, but lecture is physiology and lab is anatomy, and it's very hard to keep up with both.
Attendance is mandatory if you want a good grade. While you can get most of the material from the reading, she spends a lot of time in class detailing what most students miss on the exams and giving you tips and tricks for passing the class. The reading is mandatory. She's a great teacher, funny, and helpful. 50 minute lectures seem too short.
Dr. Klesath is a nice person, knowledgeable and more than willing to answer questions. There is a lot of work in this course and the lab doesn't really follow the lecture, but that has little to do with Dr. Klesath herself. Get a buddy and repeatedly diagram & label the stuff for lab, do learning objectives for lecture, and you will be fine.
Favorite professor and class of all time. She is very helpful and has such a bubbly personality that is sure to brighten your day. Her class isn't easy, but she gives you all the materials you need to be successful. Dr. Klesath is one of the few professors that is easy to talk to in office hours and genuinely wants you to do well in her class.
She really wants you to do well and is always willing to answer your questions, but she can be a little unclear about what she expects you to know. She gives Learning Objectives, but those don't cover the entire scope. She will discuss some things in lecture, but not all. She'll give you textbooks and power points, but she is the best resource.
Marta was great. It is a hard class and you do have to work for an A, but it is definitely possible if you are serious about the subject matter. The BEST thing I did in her class was to record the lectures and listen to them again before the test. You catch a lot of things the 2nd time and she does lecture towards the tests. BUT also need to read!!
Marta is a wonderful professor. The class isn't easy, but she teaches it very well by making analogies that help you remember information on the exam. She is very approachable and she is very knowledgeable in the subject. Be sure to not blow off lab though, or it will bite you later on.
Had this class during the summer and it moves really fast. Make sure to keep up with lecture or you will be lost. She likes to give tips for and information about the exams throughout class so be ready to take notes.
Summers are really fast, but take it in the summer. Lab and lecture during 16 week semesters are sooo much harder. It's a lot in the summer, but I promise you it's worth it. She's really nice (especially in the summer) and lab can really boost your grade up (or bring it down if you don't take it serious). She really cares for her students.
Marta is an amazing instructor. This class is hard and there's a ton of material, but it was by far my favorite course I've taken so far at NC State. It's obvious Marta is extremely knowledgable on the subject, and she's experienced teaching it. She also goes really in depth on the power points during class, so skipping it is a disadvantage.
Take this course during the summer! It goes quite fast past with lab included, but the work load almost feels less and she makes sure you're keeping up with the material. Don't skip any lectures though as she usually goes over things specifically which she will tell you will be on the exam. She's overall a great professor I highly recommend her!
Dr. Klesath is overall a very positive and passionate person. Sometimes I was frustrated by her showing up a little late and failing to respond to emails, but overall she is an effective lecturer. The lab and lecture together are overkill so get ready to cram and memorize a bunch of body parts you probably won't remember the next week.
She is an excellent teacher. She is extremly helpful and does test reviews. The class is hard in nature, but she does a great job of teaching the material.
Dr. Klesath is an excellent instructor who knows her material well. If you attend her lectures (which are mandatory anyway) and pay attention, this course is definitely survivable. A word of warning: lecture is easier than lab.
Taking BIO 212 with Dr. Klesath really solidified by interest in the topic. Her lectures are engaging, she is quite clear about what you actually need to know, and the class is generally well structured. She is receptive to any questions you might have about the material.
Marta is awesome, she cares about the success of her students and teaches specifically for the exams. Learn the power point information, fill out the Learning Objectives and you basically have the test in your hands. She also will tell you specific things on the exam, so if you go to class you will have been told about 75% of what's on the test!
Dr. K clearly cares about her students. I once went in for office hours and saw that she had a pillow and blanket on the ground because she was sleeping in the office over the weekend to grade our tests. Very approachable and willing to help out if you come talk to her. Gives interesting lectures and tries to keep everyone engaged.
Anatomy during the summer could have been bad, but it was great with Dr. Klesath. Her lectures were interesting and the HWs/quizzes tended to be at least somewhat helpful for exams. Her exams were fairly difficult, but an A+ in the class is definitely a possibility. Lab was really more work than lecture, but that's most BIO classes.
Tests are very hard. Mostly fill in the blank so if you do not understand the material 100% the tests will be tough. She makes her test questions tricky so sometimes if you know all of the material you can still mess up. Do not recommend.
I LOVE MARTA So, I actually had her for BIO 240 and 245, which is what BIO212 was split up into. Anyhow, she gives you access to all her powerpoints. She reviews with you before exams. You make the final exam with her during dead week. She does do some attendance-based grades and the online hw is fairly easy 11/10
She will work with you if your grade isn't where you want it to be. She cares so much about her students doing well that it is near impossible to fail her class.
I LOOOOOOVE her. She's very helpful in and out of class and really cares about her students. I did find it difficult to contact her through email but once she replied it was gucci. You work together to make the final and her tests are pretty straight forward. Powerpoints are online. I skipped a lot and still got an A but there is attendance policy.
Dr. Klesath is an amazing professor. She genuinely cares about her students and their well-being. There isn't a lot of outside of class homework. The tests are somewhat challenging but not if you study. They're really straight forward and she doesn't try to trick you. i loved her
Take this professor. She makes anatomy easier to understand and actually cares about students and tries to be relatable during lectures. Super sweet and generous in the "giving you random points" department. Exams are tough but go to class, do the homeworks, and focus on the learning objectives she provides and you'll do just fine.
Klesath is the reason I am passionate and curious about anatomy. All of her resources are on moodle and she is undyingly dedicated to her students. Her exams are a walk in the park and you could probably guess all the answers and still get a 50%. Highly recommend her and if you fail, it is your fault.
WHERE TO BEGIN. I absolutely love this woman w all my heart. Extremely intelligent, fair, and caring. Makes it very clear what she expects you to know and never tries to trick w tests. show up to class and memorize the powerpoints and you'll be good. had her both semesters of my sophomore year and I'm really gonna miss her!!
She is really good at lecturing, she does tons of review to truly make sure you understand the material and is great at teaching the material. The lab for this class is a LOT of work. But the actual class doesn't really have homework. Making connection maps is the best way to study for most of this class and the lectures really help you learn.
Marta was just ok. She is terrible to get in touch with outside of class and makes mistakes on her exams. She also is never clear about what she wants. For example the final exam was supposed to have only material she stated in the learning objectives but there was material on there not covered. The main problem was her lack of communication.
Overall a pretty straightforward class and lectures are great/material is clear. Lecture and review activities are slightly geared towards visual learners, so if you don't like studying with concept maps/diagrams it may be a little more work. Tests are fair but study ALL the material.
She is the best professor that I have ever taken. Yes there may be a lot of material but she makes remember odd things to help us memorize the material. Tests are hard but I felt like I actually enjoyed learning the material as a Biology major.
Had her for BIO 240 and am now in BIO 245 with her. She is really awesome, one of the few teachers I've really enjoyed as a teacher. Always easy to reach outside of class and very helpful if your grades aren't where you want them to be.
She takes attendance through Top Hat questions in the beginning of class. They count for credit. Marta wasnt a bad teacher and her tests were simple recall from her lectures and HW. Memorize everything! Her only down side is that shes impossible to reach via email. You have to see her in person (kinda hard during corona)
Dr. Klesath gives great lectures to keep you engaged. Tests can be difficult, need to understand and memorize a lot of information, but she prepares you well. Textbook is mandatory for hw, but only read it if confused on topic. I'd recommend her as an anatomy teacher to others. Not a lot of hw at all. Tophat questions every class for a grade.
Took Bio 240 and 245 with her (anatomy and physiology part 1 and 2). Best online professor ever. Makes material easily accessible and is often willing to give extensions on assignments, credit back on tests etc.. Emails back quickly, and is very understanding. Try and get her if you can. Decent amount of homework but it isn't hard.
Gives an insane amount of work. Each module has 3 labs & 3 lectures. Each lab has an activity (10-16 pages long), an assignment (long quizzes), and then a lab quiz. Each lecture component has 3-hour lecture, another video, & a quiz. A long exam with paragraph questions. THEN there is a module discussion post and project. ALL FOR ONE MODULE!
I had very high hopes for this class given past ratings, but this class was honestly a mess. Emailed Dr. Klesath multiple times throughout the semester and never received an answer. Constantly moving from in person to online with unpredictable schedule that was very frustrating. Lab was a disorganized mess and wayyyyyy too hard.
If every prof was like Klesath, life would certainly be better. Amazing at communicating with student needs, really understands the material, can answer the toughest questions thrown at her, and really makes sure that her students have everything they need to succeed in the test, and bio classes beyond this.
Very unorganized professor with lots of work. Both the lecture and lab have lots of homework associated with it. Also be prepared to take her tests at DELTA no in class tests. She is just very hard to reach with little to no room for error and is not lenient when it comes to asking for extensions even though she is always difficult to reach.
I had her as my Lab Instructor, but she wasn't the TA. The overall lab set-up was labeling models for 3 hours once a week. The post-lab quizzes are virtually impossible to get a 100% on because she puts an arrow that could be two things, and of course the one you pick it always wrong. Disorganized, and never has right things posted to moodle. avoid
Nothing against the professor. She seems like a really lovely person, but the class is challenging. The lectures were hard to follow because she annotated images rather than explaining the PowerPoints directly. The three exams were tough and made up most of the grade. This isnt a class I would take with another hard class.
it is SO frustrating to have a teacher not be reachable whatsoever by email. the class was constantly a mess because it would be online one day and not the next. the class was also never organized, her notes were rlly awful and hard to read and understand, and the tests would be pretty hard because you had to know everything to a t. don't recommend
The lab is insanely hard, you start with a 10 minute quiz that is may be six questions with multiple parts, good luck passing. Lecture notes are very hard to follow and unorganized. My biggest complaint is the lab and the insane about of work and labeling for such a small portion of your grade. Avoid if you can!!!
Dr. Klesath is incredibly unorganized and is constantly adjusting the format of the class. She has missed 6 lectures which is more than I have had a professor miss. She also is not reachable by email, which is frustrating considering she often reaches out to us changing things unexpectedly. I did enjoy the material, but not because of the teacher.
I love anatomy and physiology, but this class is a living nightmare for anyone who appreciates basic organization. Nothing was uploaded on time, due dates were constantly changing, god forbid you schedule a test early in the week because you will get screwed and have to cram due to lectures not being planned out properly. Horribly inconvenient.
She is one of the most unorganized professor I have ever had. She is completely unaccessible and beyond difficult to reach by email. Her tests are very specific and difficult so be prepared to study. The labs were so much work for so little credit same with the homework. I would not take her again and would advise the same for somebody else.
She is incredibly caring and allowed me to take my exam later due to a family emergency. The content is interesting and fun to learn. Lots of work, but worth it.
Dr. Klesath is a phenomenal teacher but a very poor instructor. She does not respond to emails, does not post assignments on time, skips every other class because she is sick (not her fault, just frustrating), and generally is unengaged. She is impossible to reach, takes weeks to grade exams, and forces u to play catch up because of it.
Pros: Clear lecturing style using lots of imagery. Lecture content is directly tied to the exams. No surprises or tricks. If something wasn't posted in time, etc, it was just cancelled or we were given credit. Cons: The lab section can feel like as much work as a regular class due to the sheer amount memorization and lab assignments.
The class was disorganized and I emailed her on several different occasions and never got a response back. Exams were always more difficult than what I thought they should be, and all exams and lab practicals were in DELTA which sucked. She was nice though and gave some extensions, but overall didn't enjoy the class much.
I love professor Klesath, she is very nice and explains the content so well. She makes the lectures interactive so that everyone is able to understand and is very receptive to questions. She knows her stuff and makes a difficult class like anatomy much more understandable and enjoyable.
Dr. Klesath is a great professor and truly wants her students to succeed. That being said, BIO 240 is hard. Go to her study halls and/or office hours- they help a lot! Other than the class being difficult, the only downside is that Dr. Klesath can be hard to reach outside of class/scheduled review sessions.
Professor Klesath is a great person, but a poor instructor. We have been waiting on exam grades to be released for 30 days now. Lectures are cancelled morning of via email at least twice a month. Her lecture notes are all over the place and hard to follow. Her class is also point system based.
Professor Klesath is very caring and you can tell she wants her students to learn and succeed in her class but her class can be challenging due to the topics. The lectures were very fast-paced, tests were difficult, and lab quizzes and practicals were very challenging, but as long as you study hard and watch the lectures you should do fine.
I agree with the person that said she is a good person, but poor professor. She is nice, but is kind of all over the place when she lectures. If you aren't a visual learner and learn from PowerPoint-style lecture, get ready for a learning curve because all she does is draw on images and expects you to understand. It takes forever to get exams back!
Her lectures are very helpful and she cares a lot about her students. She is sometimes a little disorganized and it does take a long time to get test grades back. Overall, a good professor and a good class.
Dr. Klesath was a good professor, although she was hard to reach through email sometimes. She does cancel class often but always posts a makeup lecture. The lab portion of the class is very heavy in terms of material. As long as you watch and study the lectures, submit assignments on time, and study lab well (memorization), you will be fine.
Never went to class and got an A. The tests are definitely material heavy. If you study the power points really well, you will be fine. I got an A on all the tests simply from studying the power points. From the few classes I went to, Klesath is very nice and loves what she teaches, but she never answers emails.
Professor Klesath is amazing but she is not responsive to emails. This class will require you to put forth alot of work and effort but if you put in the time, you will perform well on exams. They are taken at Delta testing (exams and practicals).
Attendance is not mandatory but Professor Klesath is not responsive to her emails. I've emailed her numerous times and no response. She tends to be all over the place but if you do the work and put in ample amount of time to study then you will do well.
This class is test heavy so get ready to read because there is alot of material. She does not reply to emails ever and exams are not curved either, they are taken at Delta. she is good at what she does but she needs to be more responsive to her students.
I've taken both anatomy courses with Marta, and she has definitely gotten better since I first took her. The material is hard and some people found the way she taught to be helpful, but it never fully clicked with me. She adjusted her assignment expectations to be much more manageable which is nice.
Dr. Klesath is a great professor, but this class is very difficult. If you want to do well, go to study halls and ask questions! Also, it can be hard to reach her outside of class so try to talk to her in person if you need to.
Took this class online during the summer, it was easy. There's a lot of materials and assignments, but all of them are open note. She also responds fast to emails.
I loved Dr. Klesath. I took BIO 240 and 245 with her, and I wouldn't have changed a thing. She is a great lecturer especially if you use a tablet. I didn't have a tablet and still got an A in both anatomies, but if you have one, she is definitely the professor for you. She genuinely cares about how all her students do in her course. 100% recommend.
I thought that her online class was manageable and pretty straightforward. There is a LOT to cover each week so stay on top of it. If you do that, you're golden. Her exams aren't SUPER difficult, but they can definitely take a lot out of you as each one is 3 hours long and packed with information. Lab was painful but doable. Overall I'd recommend!
I would not recommend Dr. Klesath to anyone. This was by far one of the worst classes I have taken (I took 245 with Parks and got an A). She never posts assignments when she says she will and takes forever to get grades back. The lecture itself isn't bad, but the material on tests does not line up with anything else in the class.
will not respond to emails. will be late for class unless she has someone bring her starbs. everything is online and very scary at first because you will have video assignment due before each lecture. She takes the most sick days. she's a great professor but nothing on the exam matches up with what you learn. very lazy if anything.
Dr Klesath is a sweetheart! She is super nice and when lecturing will write out and draw every single part of the notes, which helps a lot to not get lost while she presents, and she keeps class very interactive. Tests cover almost everything she says, but if you use the learning objectives you'll be fine!
You think your a good test taker? Be ready to be humbled. Exams are near possible to make A's on despite knowing the content on them. You CAN NOT reach her through email by any means either. Pretty much no extra credit in the class either. Lectures are good but you won't be able to showcase your knowledge on exams.
Anatomy's very information-filled, but Dr. Klesath does a great job covering the topics & breaking down the concepts for simpler understanding. Use the module objectives & Moodle topic assignments (very similar to the test format) to prepare for tests. Go to office hours; it's very helpful. STUDY because you either know it or you don't.
Dr. Klesath is very nice and explains the materials pretty well in lecture, but she moves very quickly. Her tests will sometimes ask for very small details, but they aren't weighted super heavy and the final isn't cumulative. She is disorganized and won't post materials on time, but her due dates are very flexible.
Great person but not a great professor! She teaches by labeling things yet it has nothing to do with anything on the exams. She says she cares about her students but never ever responds to emails no matter how many you send. She's also always moving due dates for assignments so you never know when they're actually due.
Honestly, I found her lectures to be pretty interesting, but they had almost nothing to do with the exams. You are better off reviewing and memorizing the provided slides over and over. She does not respond to emails whatsoever. If you use an iPad for notes, you will be able to follow along much easier. No extra credit and barely any curve.
Dr Klesath's lectures are very informative and entertaining; made me excited about anatomy, even at 8:30 in the morning! Most assignments for lecture and lab are pretty easy. Lecture tests and lab practicals heavily based on slides, so not too difficult. For lab practicals be sure to do the practice quizzes in Moodle. Not very responsive to emails.
Dr. Klesath was a great professor, very enthusiastic about what she teaches and explains the topics well. Her lectures can be disorganized but everything is recorded. Tests were detailed but everything was on the slides, there are videos and activities for each unit. Overall not a super difficult class and she teaches it well, very flexible.
Marta is genuinely one of the kindest women I've ever met. You can tell she really cares about her students and the topic she is teaching. The class does have quite a bit of work, but it never felt unmanageable. One thing about her, though, is that she never responds to emails and she is pretty disorganized, which can be frustrating.
The sweetest professor ever. She truly cares about her students. I highly recommend taking her course over the summer. She was very easy to reach and super understanding with any issues. If you have the opportunity to take her course, I highly recommend. 10/10
Take this class over the summer! It's much more manageable and the setup of the course is pretty good. The exams are open-note, and it's pretty easy to get an A if you study a little bit and know where to look when it comes to stuff you're not too sure about. Dr. Klesath herself seems nice, although I didn't interact with her much.
Oh my god. This is the most disorganized person on the planet. Her tests don't match up with anything she goes over in lecture, all she does is label things on her iPad. She NEVER responds to emails; honestly, I think she's just lazy. Be ready to do A LOT of studying on your own, and the labs aren't much better either. Take another prof if you can.
This class is very disorganized and the professor is very hard to reach and communicate with. The tests are very difficult and the questions are very very specific. The lecture material is interesting but more times than not the content will be harder on the test than it was in class. Be prepared to study a ton outside of class for tests.
Poor professor indeed. She cannot teach. At all. Went to the first two lectures and stopped going after. She just doodles on diagrams like an elementary school teacher, and what she teaches in lecture does not align with the material on exams. She also gets off topic and will talk about some really weird stuff. Be ready to read, study, and pray.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! Although she seems like she is an amazing person, she is a horrible professor. I did everything I could to do well in this class and still ended up with a C+. SO much information is on the tests, but the questions are so specific. Also, the exams take up 75% of your grade. She does not curve any tests or offer extra credit.
I have taken two classes with Dr. Klesath. As long as you memorize the lecture slides (like fully memorize) you will do fine. Start studying for them a few days before the test because it is a lot of content. She provides very engaging lectures. There is a lot of homework each week but that is to be expected in this kind of class.
Her class was easy and she is super nice, but not a great lecturer. Her tests are very specific, but if you use the textbook to study you'll be fine. Very memorization heavy. She gave us a final project and graded it super lightly. Unfortunately she has some health problems that got in the way of her ability to teach, but not a bad professor.
I am not sure why there are so many negative reviews. She is extremely kind and helpful. Watch the videos, go to class, review lecture, DO LEARNING OBJECTIVES, and you will succeed. Test heavy for sure but I did not find them bad as long as you know processes and do the learning objectives.
Professor Klesath was a great professor and a very very kind person. She cares about her students and although her lectures are fast-paced and contain a lot of information, they WILL HELP! This class is test heavy but if you pay attention and engage in the material, they won't be bad at all. Definitely recommend her!
Not accessible outside of class if you need help. Posts assignments late. Has no teaching assistants although she may have one now, making her always be behind. Learning objectives are helpful for exams, but some material is not on the slides at all which isn't great if you study from them. Exams are hard and content heavy. Study hard. She is kind.
For the lab, it is not bad at all like people say. Anatomy is hard, and this is not bad as it is pretty much all labeling. Only hard unit was muscles. Teaching assistants for the lab are amazing and very helpful. Only thing is Marta will not respond to emails much and posts assignments late and is sometimes inconsistent of when things are due.
Lectures were incredibly unhelpful; most people stopped going altogether. She scribbles on images as her main form of lecture, even though her exams are based on 60+ slides, and each exam question is very specific. I'm not saying you can't succeed in her class, but I will say she leaves you to fend for yourself. She also will NOT respond to emails.
I like Dr. Klesath, but I don't like the way she lectures. It's hard to follow and not very helpful for the exams (which are on a ton of slides). She also either takes forever or doesn't respond at all to emails. If you can teach yourself, go for it, but be ready for a lot of studying
Take the lower reviews given in early 2025 w/ a grain of salt. Dr. Klesath was dealing with family matters during this semester so her presence as a teacher was a little less than normal, but nonetheless she tried her best to give a good semester. Her lectures aren't for everyone but she provides a lot of study material. Tests are difficult tho.
I suggest taking her classes in the summer. She is a great professor but the courses are so much easier online during the summer since all tests are open notes and assignments are all video based. The grading is clear and only have a few assignments including discussion board posts.
I know some people have had issues contacting Dr. Klesath, but please have some empathy. Over the past year, she has gone through personal health issues along with taking care of her mother in the hospital. She is an incredibly caring teacher and her positive energy makes this class worthwhile. You learn a lot, but be willing to put in effort.
All the pre-meds who are signing up for this class. I am writing this as I sit in my med school anatomy lecture. TAKE MATHA KLESATH. Do not pay attention to the bad reviews. TRUST ME WHEN I SAY THIS. SHE WILL GET YOU READY. The practicals seem ridiculous when you are in undergrad, but I promise you, they will get you ready.
Non-responsive to emails, incorrect answer keys and would make up lab assignments as we were due to complete them. Furthermore, criticism was ignored when students pointed out the poor quality of the course. This has been the most incompetent educator I have experienced in my 16 years of schooling - I wouldn't recommend this class if it was free.
She is almost impossible to reach, even if it is about something important or of timely manner. She will send out emails but not respond to yours. The tests are insane, you have to know everything ever. You label everything of every part of the body, its hard memorization.
People complaining about the tests shouldn't be in bio anats not easy it's really content heavy. Shes a little scattered but is really nice and really cares if you put in the smallest amount of effort. I asked for a rec letter she didn't know who I was and she was super nice about it.
Class is a breeze. I barely ever went to class and just watched her lecture videos and memorized the slides: you just need to memorize the slides tbh and you're golden. Didn't even feel like I was taking a hard anatomy class. Supa chillll. Can't wait to take her again for BIO245 next sem. Light work no reaction
