Mrs. Brown is difficult without a doubt, but she is also helpful to students who are willing to take the time to ask. She is definately not for the faint of heart with regard to the sciences.
Should be retired. Not helpful. Take it from someone else. Trust me.
Makes an easy class hard. We had more work than any other ACAD class. Take any other professor.
She is the worst teacher I ever had. This class was harder than it should be. Even if you understand the material, her questions are hard to understand. Don't take her.
Very hard, dont get her for ACAD!
i had to take this again b/c it didn't transfer, and went from an A at other school to c here. I worked my tail off and I pestered her like crazy for help. In a class with 163 students 158 of us failed the first test (of only 3) that says something about her, but she still blamed the students.
Martha Brown doesn't offer help, clarity,or test effectiveness in regards to outline, structure,or syllabus. She will shatter ones dreams of med school in "General Biology"! Her tests will not follow text or lexture. They are from the stone age when she was an undergrad! Good Luck and be aware.
HORRIBLE TEACHER!!!Dont take her. Impossible to do good in this class. She just shows u a million slides..doesnt know how to teach. Tests are ridiculous. She DOES NOT CARE if you pass or not. I'm a junior now and shes the WORST teacher I ever had!
Mrs. Brown was so hard, I really hated this class 1/2 of my class failed the class not because they didn't but because her test were extremely hard. She really SUCKS!!!! If u can avoid taking her please do.
Ms. Brown should not include so much information in her class. It seems she sets you up to fail. I did not enjoy her class nor did I learn anything.

didn't even read the book.....just took notes and studied them.....made an A, but she didn't like me cuz I would ask stupid questions just to liven up the room a bit.....she didn't even know why you see corn a little later after you eat it....
She's not a great teacher. Most people, on the first test, scored below a 50, and she asked if she had to "dumb down" the test for us. Even with a 34 on my first test, I still managed a C, but I still wouldn't take her again!
she needs to stop constantly refering to "you remeber this from this class or your last high school biology class" not taking into account that some students are not just coming fresh out of high school or a previous biology class. her clarity on specific parts of the subject is very unclear using the same terms for many different aspects without
She is by far the most stupid teacher I have ever had in my life. her tests are absolutely impossible, she only half-ass teaches, and constantly laughs at her own PATHETIC jokes.
One of the worst teachers at the U of Memphis. Failed majority of my class. Tests are terrible. Notes given in class are not on the test. Can not teach!!!
she had 3 tests (1 which you can drop). Tests are hard, too much material. You HAVE to study in order to pass her tests. she doesnt care about attendance. she gives the outlines on umdrive and the tests are directly from her outlines. she gives review questions prior to test. she looks like a turkey meets e.t.

Hard Tests. Too much material.Stuck in her awful ways of teaching.
Dr. Brown is one of the best professor's at the University. She is always willing to help, and she mixes up class well so it's always interesting. Take good notes, memorize them, and the tests will be VERY easy.
she is a very good teacher. class is easy she gives you the questions on the test a head of time and she even calls the questions out in class and answers them. you don't have to come to class
After having taken both of the current 1120 teachers, I can definitively say that Brown is not the right choice if you want to do well in Biology. Do yourself a favor and take the other teacher, whose class is still not easy but who is a MUCH better teacher.
tests are over 7 to 8 chapters which is about 30-40 pages of outline notes. The study guides aren't specific and not all study guide Q's are on the test. The tests are only 50 questions. I read the outline several times, even re-wrote them three times, and thoroughly answered the study guide. I made a 68. More than half the classes are failing.
Not a super-hard professor at all. But note that not everything in the book is covered, and she adds some other stuff. The content is easy enough, there's just oodles of it. Stay up with the reading and review your lecture notes and you should be golden. It'll be painful sometimes, but heck...it's required for most of us, so what can you do?
you dont need to go to class in order to get a good grade..she gives out review questions before the test which are really helpful..kind of a boring class at times but if you go to class and force yourself to pay attention its interesting and easy
After reading all comments, I feel Ms. Brown is being too harshly judged. On my first test I studied like crazy and got 68, but after you figure out how to study for her tests it is actually quite easy. You have to go to class, you have to take alot of notes, and you have to memorize tons of info. If you do this you wil get an A, as I did:)
Everyone says she's hard, but if you go to class pretty regularly and study the example questions she's hands out, there is no reason you can't get at least a B. Almost every question on the test comes straight from example questions...you just have to be willing to answer them all which will take forever.
Brown gives off very bad karmic energy. 'nuff said.
If you just go to class and listen and go over the review questions you'll get through it pretty easily.
Not a good professor
Very hard teacher. her tests are the hardest i have come across in my academic career. I am an A student and studied for hours a day before her last few tests and still could only pull out a low grade B. So if your looking for a High GPA on your college transcript do not take this teacher. FAIR WARNING
Don't buy the book-- waste of money. Make sure you study. She does whatever she can to make the tests as hard as possible. Nice enough as a person and is happy to answer questions, and gives outlines, but her tests cover too much.
Jokes not funny. Projections so boring. Hated Class. Went every day and didn't have a good grade. If you miss class won't pass.
This teacher is passable if you attend class! Her test are hard if you do not attend class and study! She gives you study guides and outlines of each chapter! If you take good notes and study a lot you can pass! She is very easy to follow and you can learn a lot in her class~
The smartest thing in the world you can do is not to take this woman's class. she is hard, her test are hard, and the lecture is as boring as the day is long!!!
This lady is by far the most boring teacher I have ever encountered at the University. She does provide you with a study guide for each chapter, however, its so much material that is pointless. I recommend her if you can sit through lectures that do not involve much interaction, are very dull, and consist of her reading from the review that you hav
I beg of you PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS WOMAN!!!! If you are enrolled in her class PRAY OR RUN!! Itz super boring, she is lame her test are hard, yea she gives study guides but its way too much material, you have a chance of passing if u dnt miss any classes sumwut and stay awake during the boring lectures and lame jokes!!! Just dnt take!
so boring
RUN RUN AWAY!! Very hard to do well, nearly impossible. Is way to old to teach and it seems like she never really learned to. You will fail this class even if you are a 4.0 student like me. Please save yourself from the horror that is Martha Brown.
listen to the other people here!she is a hard teacher even if you memorize the material and study!i am retaking Biology 1020 in the summer with a different teacher!
NO! The worst teacher the university has to offer. I studied like never before and walked away with a D..and earned an F. Science is my thing and is something I get, but her tests are impossible and are worded to trick. I have spoken to the department and can only hope someone will listen. LISTEN: RUN AWAY NOW! SAVE YOUR GPA!!! She is the worst.
She is a good teacher, she explains the material throughly and welcomes questions. She goes through exactly what will be on her test, you just need to pay attention in class. The exams come directly from her lecture notes.
Dr Brown is extremely knowledgable about biology. She makes lectures interesting. Don't use ur book. Her tests come directly from her notes so memorize them and you'll do well.
good teacher but hard as hell
Dr. Brown makes ACAD 1100 a lot more important than it should be. The work is easy, but there seems to be a lot of it compared to other Acad instructors. & her exams are from various lectures and fairs from around campus, so take good notes from every event you attend with the class. I have also heard she is a difficult Bio prof.
She teaches directly from a overhead projector. Do not take if you are not willing to do a lot of reading
RUN AWAY NOW IF YOU CAN....attendance isnt required but i would go cause her lectures are what the test are about... the study guide is pointless and none of the wuestions are on the test at all..she will drop the lowest grade out 3...dont buy the book...if its not too late try to take Dr. Ferrari instead, he is much better
she is very smart and so nice, but really hard. she is an ok teacher, but her class is boring and she is hard to hear and understand. not who i would recommend taking if you want to PASS. i made 40s on every test and went to class almost every single day. im taking this class again with a different teacher.
RUN!!!! Do not take her she is hard and makes a lot more difficult then it needs to be. Take another ACAD teacher if you can make her your last option!
Dr. Martha Brown is ****, she doesnt' give your test back. She give too much stuff to study that is not on the test. She assumes what you should have learned in high school or from going to the doctor. She give you the information on way to study and switches it on the test. She had 99 people to fail her test out of 4 to 5 classes. DON'T TAKE HER
If you are not passionate about biology, you should not take her! Her tests are hard, but not impossible! If you do end up taking her class, sit in the front, come to class, take good notes (write down the figures that she points out in the book), record her! She often gives answers to questions that are going to be on the exam.
Dr. Brown is very smart and always willing to help. She gives you the test questions in the study guide. It is imperative you come to class and study to do well, but she is not as hard as everyone else has posted. She is always willing to explain what you do not understand and she will even allow time for you outside of class hours. I learned a lot
While she is not the easiest teacher around, she is by no means impossible. If you study your notes and listen in class she basically tells you what will be on the test. She is always willing to help and loves students to ask questions.
The most boring teacher I've ever had.
She is not impossibly hard. However, she is NOT an easy A. I have a B in her bio class and it was very hard work. I made note cards and studied for hours upon hours. Good thing she doesn't do the + or - thing because I barely have a B. She knows her stuff though and is extremely knowledgeable. Kind of mean, though.
Her exams come from notes and lecture. We took 4 test. 3 of the test were over 6 chapters each a total of 18 chaps and a lastly a Comprehensive final. She does require attendance but since its an auditorium class You can get away with someone signing You in.
OMG SHE IS REALLY HARD SHE GIVES YOU 3 EXAMS. 50 QUESTIONS ON EACH AND MATERIAL COMING FROM AT LEAST 7 LONG ASS CHAPTERS. REVIEW QUESTIONS SOMETIMES NOT ON THERE AND FINAL IS 100 ON CHAPTERS 1-39(LONG ASS CHAPTERS) DO NOT TAKE HER
She is not an easy A, I have an 89 average right now and studied about 2 to 3 days before each of the 3 tests and did pretty well. Bonus quizzes help but you should read 3 chapters a week to really get an A. soft speaker, but she will help with any questions you have. Kinda funny too.
Somewhat difficult tests, but manageable. I got an A from hardwork. Pay attention to EVERYTHING she says in class (esp if she says it twice or says "sounds like a good test question") those are almost always on the test! the grade consists of 3 tests and a comprehensive final with 3 extra credit quizzes (10 points each)
She's impossible to understand. She hacks and coughs the whole class, and usually can't figure out how to work the microphone (it's in a lecture hall). She's really dull, and doesn't even make an effort to help students that ask of it. Makes a lot of rude remarks as well.
Overall a good teacher. She gives you everything you need for the exam. There is 3 exams and a comprehensive final exam. Before each exam, there is a bonus quiz she gives out. The exams are straight from the notes and review questions. The review questions are your STUDY GUIDE!!!! Easy A
Everybody on here says she is hard, but she's really not. Just take good notes and study them. I studied for about 6 hours the day before the test only and still made 95+ on all tests. My class average was close to a 70, but I can't understand why. I don't have a great GPA and Im not just super smart, but I did not have any trouble with this class.
Her class is not the easiest one I have taken, but it is a science and the majority of the time those are not easy. She gives you notes and review questions to study over before the test, the material in general to me is a bit hard just because there is so much to cover. Overall, it is okay.
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!! She is the most unhelpful teacher I have ever had. She is mean and old and you can hardly understand her. Her tests will make you fail, I promise.
Class is hard but not impossible. DO NOT WAIT TO STUDY AT THE LAST MINUTE! It will not work! She covers 9 chapters per test and her class is BORING! You can make at least a C if you do not procrastinate and learn everything on her study guide and go over your notes. Biology II is a fun subject but her tests will eat you alive you if you dont study!
Brown is a pointless teacher. I'm an A student but I ended up making a B in her class (no + or - system). I was in the top 10th percentile & still made a B for the semester. It's so much information at once and she expects non-majors to know it all. Not to mention, she is extremely rude. I wouldn't advise taking her if you want an A or B.
The hardest teacher i have ever taken in my college history and i am now graduated. class wasnt extremely hard. but she made it that way. tests are multiple choice A-F and sometimes G 10 chapters in detail per test. no side work i failed and had to retake at southwest and Aced it DO NOT TAKE PLEASE
don't do it.....
People focus on the easiness of a professor. BIOL1120 and 1110 are weeding courses. They're designed to move out the people that aren't ready for a science major. It wasn't as hard as it was made out to be.
I really enjoyed having Dr. Brown as a professor. Her class is challenging, but if you really study and GO TO CLASS, you can easily pass and probably with a B or higher. If you are not interested in Biology, it is much harder to want to pay attention and engage in class. If you can manage that, you will be fine.
Her class is the hardest class I've ever taken. I'm a comp sci major with Calc I, II, Discrete mathematics, Linear Algebra, A&P, Bio I, Chem I (Dr. Li at UoM, and his class is one of the hardest, as well), and a plethora of programming languages under my belt. I've never had a class give me this much trouble. 40-50% dropout/fail in her class.
TERRIBLE. Mono tone voice. Not to mention one of those teachers that gives you such an excessive amount of info that you don't know what's important & what's not. Attendance required. Difficult test. Pop quizzes. DO NOT TAKE HER.
Class was awful. I've always done well in science classes. So much material you have to know for each test. Does not care that you are not a science major. Attendance not mandatory but I went and still got bad grades on the tests. Most people failed her tests.
The class is extremely difficult. I would study for like 25-40 hours for a single test. This has been the best C (and only C) I have ever earned. No curve... no mercy. She is a sweet woman and means well, but takes this seriously. You are expected to be 100% responsible for yourself and the material. It's difficult for a reason.
Dr. Brown wants you to learn the material -plain and simple. It's not an easy ride, but you come out feeling like 1) you learned something and 2) you earned it and deserve a Biology degree. Provides everything in lecture for test. Just don't go in thinking you're going to fail, but BE PREPARED. Read before and after class, study, and don't panic.
Took Dr. Brown for ACAD. Very sweet and personal. Excited to see you outside of class and help out out. Since the class was not very information heavy, we didn't use the textbook much.
Stop being one of those people that looks at the very few positive reviews & decides to tackle this terrible professor. I took 2 bio classes at the same time. Brown lost 3/4 of her class by the 3rd day & the other bio class was packed full from the beginning. MONOTONE, too much material, no curves, no bonus, minimal textbook use. DO NOT TAKE.
She's a fair professor. You HAVE to know the material - no shortcuts. Pay attention in class. If she emphasizes an example or concept in class, that WILL be on the test. Her tests come straight from lecture - not just the PPTs, but what she says.
There is no extra credit. There is no curve. She seems sweet at first but is really ruthless when it comes to grading. Her questions are extremely tricky. Sometimes she asks questions that are not even from the lecture when she tells you her notes are better then the book. Be careful taking her.
This class is for non-science majors but this woman expects you to know the intricate details of every plant and animal organ, gland, nerve, vein, hormone, neurotransmitter, etc. It's absolutely ridiculous the amount of information she wants you to know for her exams. Oh, and when you ask her for help, she scoffs. RUN AWAY.
She is an older lady that does not really connect with the younger generation. Kind of treats you like you're in 5th grade.
Worst class I have ever taken. She gives way too much information and expects everyone to remember everything. Most boring class ever. Class periods feels soooo long and dragged out. Do not take this course unless you absolutely have to.
The class is easy but very boring and a waste of time. She can't see or hear very well and it's very tech smart.
The class is easy but very boring and a waste of time. She can't see or hear very well and it's very tech smart. There are some activities that are just pointless.
I just finished this class and passéd with a C- I believe she curved my grade, because this class was awfully hard. There was way too much detail and information in each exam. The study guide does little help! Online homework and small extra credit quiz helps out in the end. She is a sweet lady, but her voice is very soft in a class of 100+ people
Before every test you'll have a chance to increase your test grade with a pop quiz. Quizzes don't hurt you but def have the potential to boost your grade. Test are extremely tough, cover a lot of material, and are very in depth. You MUST read and study. My class started out with 100+ students and finished with less than 1/2. No curve. Do homework!!
I am an honors student used to knowing material and receiving A's... Took this class and the lectures were long, boring, and I knew the material. Got to the test, took it in 30 minutes or so feeling confident in the test and then received a D on each exam.... Worst class I have ever taken. Never been more disappointed ever.
Unless you are okay with studying hours on end, weeks on end before exams and still FAILING, do NOT take BROWN!!! I am a Dean's List student used to studying hard and making all A's. Studying for this class only to fail each time makes me feel like you are not smart. Do not take Brown if you need to get into the Nursing program. It will hurt you!!!
I took her last semester, and there were five exams (4 + 1 Final). You must study outside of class because she is difficult. She speaks very softly, which can be a barrier. My class started off with over 100 students and many dropped it very quickly. Only thing that saved my grade was the homework, which was curved. Nice lady but don't take.
I took her last semester which lead me to take it online this semester. Her tests are extremely difficult and in depth. I think I failed all of them and passed with barely a C-. Everyone started dropping and stopped going to class. She's very soft spoken which makes the lectures extremely boring.
Dr. Brown is absolutely the hardest professor I've ever had. Honors student and am struggling so much. Tests are impossible. Only 10% of her class passes
Study study study! After the first exam, tests get ridiculously tough. Definitely study the slides and read the book. The questions on her tests are pretty specific. I'd recommend tutoring.
Be ready to read. Lectures make it seem as if test will be straight forward which is not the case, but the class is passable. I passed with a B but most of the class had low Cs or dropped. Don't treat it like a cake walk and you'll be fine.
Worst professor I've had. I make awesome grades in college and I made a awful grade in this one. HER ARE AWFUL. DO NOT TAKE HER. I wish I would've read her reviews, if you plan on taking her DON'T!!!! If you're a nursing major and need AP1 and AP2 find another professor!
Her tests are very difficult and require A LOT of studying to pass- the lectures don't really give you an idea of what will be on the actual exams. I didn't do well on my exams, but the homework and tutoring helped. She is kind with a soft voice so you need something to keep you alert during her lectures. She also doesn't mind answering questions.
I would not take this class. You can take it online or try to get Koontz or another anatomy teacher. Homework grades help, and she does curve. But her tested insanly hard. It will be over 7 chapters and still she will ask specific questions. I'm an all A/B student in all of my other classes & I will barely pull a C in this class. Don't take!
Unbelievably Boring Class! I really could not deal. I tried, honestly. She's older and I feel that she was probably great in her younger years. The tests, for me, were too much. 5 CHAPTERS packed in one test, and I hate Biology, so it was really too much for me. UGH!
This professor is HORRIBLE! Avoid her by ANY MEANS NECESSARY! The book selected for the class is very detailed. She will say study the slides and not the book. However in order to pass you will have to review the slides, homework questions and read the text. She is not understanding and will brush off any of your concerns. You've been warned!
If you don't have to take this class PLEASE DON'T! I'm an honor student so I have to keep my gpa up, but this class was like 5 classes combined. It was extremely difficult. Thankfully, I passed with a B.
I took this professor for A&P I and II and although both classes were challenging, they were passable. You must work hard though and be prepared to study. She also gives homework ,pop quizzes, and curves your final grade which help tremendously. Overall, I didn't find either of the classes too difficult to pass. I rcvd an A (A&P I) and a B in II.
Insanely boring! She will read nothing but power point slides for an hour and half while never actually teaching you anything. Don't ask her for help because she will not give it to you!! Her test will cover strictly the power point slides and things discussed in class, I highly suggest you attend class! I wouldn't take her class again, NOT EVER!!!
Go to class. Study the PPTs. Not enough info on the PPTs to just study them w/o your class notes. Know the physiology, figures, and summary tables. Info will get left out from the book; don't worry about it. It's not hard to make a B but you need to dedicate a day per chapter of studying. Shocked so many people failed. How did you pass AP I?
I am a future PA student who would consider myself a smart student. But this teacher is just unreasonable. Her powerpoints do not have much information on them yet she tells you to study them. She shows videos instead of teaching you the material. Her tests are not straightforward though she acts like they will be!
This class is the meaning of anxiety. Martha Brown is passable, but it is very hard. She has 4 exams (3 and 1 final), homework grade (which she curves at the end), and also bonus quizzes. Her exams are VERY difficult because she teaches from a powerpoint and says the questions come from there, but they don't. If you major is nursing take it online.
The class is extremely boring and hard the only why I suggested that you can passed the test is to study the Wiley plus homework. For the most part the test back question are going to be on the exam and just review the chapter power point. Over all if you can Get at least a 60 on your exam you will pass the class with a C.
I took her for anatomy and physiology this semester and let me say that her class was TOUGH. She reads lots of PowerPoints, gives lots of homework, and gives extremely hard exams. If you have to take this class, beware that it requires a lot of dedication.
Martha Brown is such a sweet lady but when it comes to teaching, not the best. All she does is read straight from the power points and says the tests are based off of them but they definitely are not. This is the hardest class I've taken and I invested many hours into studying for this class, but still never passed a test. Don't take this class.
It's obvious students who think the PPTs and tests differ don't delve into the material from the powerpoint. PPTs are not supposed to be end all be all. You must pay special attention to what the text says about what's highlighted in the PPTs. Don't be mad at her b/c you are lazy. You shouldn't be a nurse. College & AP2 are supposed to be hard.
I would not recommend taking this class with Mrs. Brown. She is very difficult. All she does is read straight off the power point and the power point does not contain the information you need. You basically have to teach your stuff. The wording of her test is very difficult and she likes to confuse you. The test are over 5 or more chapters.
Would definitely not suggest this teacher. If you can take A&P online definitely do. It is such a broad subject and her questions were super specific and there were very few assignments so if you have one bad grade its over.
You get four tests, and a homework grade worth 20%, the tests are very specific and if you do not study every night, you probably will not get an A. Did not expect this from anatomy and physiology one...
I'm not going to lie, her class was hard. But, a lot of people in my classes seemed to not want to try and to just be handed the grade. She gives more items to be graded by than the other A&P professors, is available outside of class, and is knowledgable of A&P. Yes, it's a hard class, but she's not a bad teacher. It's a harder class in general.
This is like a teach yourself class. She does give lectures but your major grades are in test and a few homework. She doesn't really go into detail and sitting through class is boring but read outside of class, do the homework, and study A LOT you will pass.
She talked the entire class. You literally have to teach your self. She says everything on the exams are in the power points or what she says while during lecture but its actually not. If it is, the questions are reworded differently. Overall, she was a okay teacher but if you want to actually understand I would not recommend.
I couldn't understand most of what she was saying the whole lecture even when she used the microphone. She literally just flies through the power point and doesn't explain anything at all. I tried so hard in the class and could not pass the tests to save my life. She gives no specifics as to what's on the tests.
She reads straight from the PowerPoint, claims that the test is from the PowerPoint, but it is not. You HAVE to read at least every other day to stay on the material. SHOW UP TO CLASS. Its a very teach it yourself class, but she may say something that you need to remember. I originally was also going to finish with an 81 but she curved it to an A
She does not talk very loud ever, so it is hard to understand her. She does not seem very enthusiastic to be teaching the course. I would not recommend her for an ACAD teacher if you really want to get something out of the course.
I loved Dr. Brown. Answers emails very fast and wrote my recommendation letter. Gives extra points and bonus quizzes. Very nice. GO TO CLASS! She pretty much tells you what is going to be on the test if you listen. It did help me to read the book!
Overall, Dr. Brown is an amazing professor, and the people giving her bad reviews probably just don't like to study. Her syllabus details what you will be doing each day for class. She takes attendance. AND, she takes 5 grades: Exams 1, 2, 3, and final and the combined homework average. She makes study guides, and she'll extend due dates. Love her!
A challenging class, very few grades so you must work for it and get tutoring, work for it or you're finished.
When it came to asking questions, she felt like we should have already knew. Literally half of the class failed her course and took the class online the next semester. That should tell you something.
Her tests werent as bad as I thought people say they were. I studied everyday for at least 30 minutes tbh and used that anatomy coloring book to help me. It was asynchronous, so it was all self taught but she always check on my emails and answer if I have problems. To pass her tests, go over the textbook and work on her outlines :)
I took Ms. Brown during covid - all online. Honestly, it was basically self-taught because you do all the reading and note taking. Ms. Brown does include a page for each chapter that tells you what you need to know. Homework assignments due each week, quizzes every now and then & 4 tests total. She gives out a schedule, but it is a hard class!!
don't take her. I beg of you guys! When you ask her questions or want something more detailed, she WILL give you attitude. She does go through the PowerPoints but you will have to read even more and basically learn the book. Homework is okay, for every chapter she gives you a week. If you actually want to pass... don't take this professor !
i beg of you!!! DO NOT take Dr. Brown. She's the hardest professor I've ever had. Her teaching style is horrible. You can't even ask questions in class without getting a vague answer or no answer at all with EXTREME ATTITUDE!! From personal experience : I recommend taking notes on the lecture the night before
if you want to pass anatomy take anyone BUT this professor. she is a horrible teacher and absolutely useless if you need help. i sat in the front all semester cause you can barely hear her speak during lectures even with that mic. asking questions is useless she doesn't help. DO NOT TAKE HER.
She might as well go ahead and retire.
I failed her class. She is the only professor who teaches this class at U of M. I re-took this class at Southwest and earned an A, with ACTUAL teaching and I understood the concepts at Southwest. Save yourself money, time, and stress.
She is the worst professor I've ever had. All we get graded on is homework, exams, and pop quizzes. She does not make the class engaging at all.
There are only exams and homework. There are pop quizzes for extra credit. She just reads off the power point. She is older and her voice is very soft even from the front two rows. She explained what was on the exam, but it didn't line up to how it was when I took it. Would never take her again. Please run besties.
unnecessarily hard, only gives three exams and a final... class is content heavy
She is horrible. Prepare to sit in that lecture room and listen to her talk the whole class. She's a bit rude. Its like she expects you to already know the information she is intended to teach us. Don't dare ask her a question because she will give you a smart/ sarcastic answer. The exams have information on them that she dont go over. Just avoid!!
This professor is very passive agressive, doesn't help her students, and is generally hard to understand. She is too old to be speaking to a large auditorium. The textbook material is overwhelming and she does nothing to help you understand. Also, every exam is very long, multiple choice, and on scantrons, even though it's 2023. It's hard to pass.
i disagree that she's awful. she gave us transcripts to follow in class, just do those before lecture. she also provided sample test questions that WERE on the test. it does take work to pass her class but life doesn't come easy. you can visit her during office hours to look at your tests (helpful for final). sweet prof. ppl are just spoon fed.
she is very hard be ready to study a lot
Firstly she only puts five grades in total (besides pop quizzes they can only help you). Although she does provide transcripts they don't help. All she does is read 80 slide slideshows during the WHOLE class; she's also hard to hear even in the front. She does NOT provide a study guide before each exam. She is passive-aggressive if you email her.
overall you cant help but feel bad for her bc shes so insanely old. but she is very rude, quiet in lectures, and extremely passive agressive. i have been to every single lecture. taken every quiz. prepared outside of class and studied in the study rooms for 12hrs consecutively before exams. your entire grade is based on the exams. good fkin luck
Apply yourself in this class and study. Nearly all the questions on the exams will be seen on homework or review questions she gives in class. You will pass if you put in the effort.
You need to read the textbook, powerpoint, take notes during lectures, and go to tutoring outside of class to pass.Your grade is 100pts per exam w/4 exams+ 100pts for the averaged out homework= 500pts as your TOTAL grade. There are no makeups or test & HW corrections.Passive aggressive emails, refuses to provide tips or assistance to raise grade
She is extremely rude and passive-aggressive, both in person and through email. She reads straight from PPT slides without actually teaching, and the majority of your grade is based on tough exams. Her attitude and poor teaching style make this class a frustrating and stressful experience. Not to mention her archaic teaching style. 0/10
Professor Brown's class requires effort, but using resources like unstuckstudy alongside the textbook and PowerPoints can help you succeed. Attend lectures, take good notes, and visit office hours - it's not easy, but manageable if you apply yourself.
Reads directly from the power point and super, super soft-spoken. The lectures are also very fast-paced so unless you get things quick you gotta teach yourself a lot of the material. doesn't skip any slides even if she says it wont be on the test- can read 70+ slides and doesn't stop to explain much.
I am taking a&p for the SECOND time. I have studied a lot more this round and still am failing. I have noticed she purposely makes exams tricky and her lectures can be difficult to listen to if you have misophonia. Her lectures do not grasp your attention and the class is nearly impossible to pass.
Attendance not mandatory, A lot of effort required. 3 Exams, Homework assignments are averaged out to one grade in the end of semester. No extra credit. Doesn't explain things very well. Teaches straight from book, powerpoint point during class is straight from book. Lots of Studying ofc.
She doesn't explain anything and her course materials won't help you either. Students taking her section might as well be on payroll with the way you have to teach yourself. She's passive aggressive, condescending and not very useful outside of class. I talked to my advisor and she said more than half of my class was failing so take any other prof.
Aside from her class being sweltering hot, you couldn't hear anything she said. All she does is read off a powerpoint, which I realized I can do myself so I dropped the class and took it online.
only read off of slides for the entire lecture. literally went home everyday to reteach myself the lecture on my own time. she is also VERY passive aggressive if you email her or ask questions during a lecture. exams were basically 80 questions each and there were a few pop quizzes before that you have to be present for with no retakes!
