Ms. Chavis is a walking text book. Everything on her notes will be on the test. She gives a test every week, so the info. is always fresh in your head. Her quizes are for extra credit, so you can't go wrong. Just do her reports on time! Theres about four reports just two pages, double spaced she doesnt ask for alot, so just do it on time.

Ms Chavis is the best Psychology teacher at CCP. I needs to be a dean or head of the department. All of her quizzes and test were straight from her notes.

Great teacher. Fairly easy. I got an A. Test and quizzes are easy and she prepares you well for them. You don't need the book, she gives all of the notes. She also very funny.

I had Martha Chavis for Developmental Psych. She is the best! She lectures off the top of her head, so she knows her stuff! She gives quizzes every class, but you will find the same questions on her exams! If you study the quizzes, you can't do bad on the exams! Also, she has a GREAT personality, which makes learning enjoyable! You will love her!!!

Ms. Chavis is a walking textbook, so much so that you won't need the textbook. Everything you could want for an exam comes straight from her lectures, and a quiz or two a day will help you retain the information. Add to that, she got a seriously kewl standup-routine and she's funny as heck, which gives her five out of five in my book.

ms. chavis is one of the best professors i had! she is hillarious, very helpful, and really knows her psychology. i found her class very interesting.. she gives you quizzes every class, which actually benefits you because they are multiple choice and help you study to really understand everything. she's the best and i would definitly take her again

Play by her rules, which is not hard, and you'll get an A in this class. All the exams are based on her quizzes, and she gives the answers.

Prof.Chavis is the bomb-diggidy!She knows her stuff so well. Take her notes, pay attention, come to class on time, and take those little quizes every time. They will help so much. Prof Chavis is the bomb! She is extremely thorough and knows her material inside and out. You will take notes from her lecture every class and prepare for quizzes every class, however her tests are verbatim from the quizzes. She will help you out a lot. AWSOME teacher... You'll take a fair amout of quizes, but their only 6 questions each. They'll help your grade average A LOT! She's funny, intelligent, and very good looking!!

I took this professor cause of good comments, she is tough, not an easy professor...

On the first day of class she was 25 minutes late. Then says that we cant be late, chew gum or eat in class, and there's also a dress code... Not to mention at least 1 QUIZ per class... WHAT IS THIS HIGH SCHOOL??? Her teaching style is no fit for college...

study hours, still get "c" wouldn't recomend for easy grade...

Had her back to back for different classes and it was great. Same class layout, interesting, barely used textbook at all.

She gives a quiz or two every single class that you definitely need to study for. The quizzes are based on the notes from the previous class. She grades fairly and gives her students a lot of information. I learned a lot from her class but definitely wouldn't say that she was easy. I had to do a lot of studying to get an A.

Wonderful professor! Knows her stuff & makes the class very interesting. Study for the quizzes... if you study you'll have no problems taking them. All based on her lecture so listen well & take notes. Had two or three papers; nothing extremely difficult. Definitely would take another course with her if the opportunity came up.

WONDERFUL! Super fun, totally fair and very knowledgeable. Makes the info accessible and is never boring. Almost no homework beyond studying for daily quizzes. Quizzes are EASY if you take notes during class and take a few minutes to reread them before class. By the time you get to the exams, you hardly need to study at all.

The best prof. I've ever had in CCP. Prior to final exam she met with me and a group of students at an Italian restaurant, went over the material and paid half of the dinner bill! Loved her class, and so did everyone else. She is serious about the material in a fun way. Quiz everyday which makes it so much easier when it comes to exams! Highly recommended

Professor Chavis is awesome. She gives you notes during the class lecture and the following class you are quizzed on that information. Your midterm & final are based on the quizzes. Do not waste money on the recommended book, pick up any psych 101 book. We used it maybe 2 times. She is extremely down to earth and I will def be taking another class

Ms.Chavis is the best Psychology teacher ever.I have taken this class before at CUNY Bronx Community College and it was boring, but Ms.Chavis the best. Things to do in her class.First get a five subject notebook, get proper writing tool eg: pens, go to class if you are taking her on a half time basis "don't miss any class at all" Don't by the book.

She's a crystal clear teacher and makes the class very interesting. Every class will be a 2-3 quiz w/ 5-7?'s! But she gives the answers after finishing the quizzes. TAKENOTES!!P.S. don't buy the book!

Professor Chavis is very knowledgable about the subject. She captures your attention. I was never bored or sleepy during her class. She didnt require us to purchase the book yet was able to teach us more than enough about the subject. I took her during a summer semester and thoroughly enjoyed it. GREAT TEACHER

Absolutely brilliant; not only does she know her psychs but apparently mastered statistics and A&P too. She's amazing. Don't underestimate this course!!! She's great but do not make the mistake of thinking this is an easy A. Quizzes every class but it's good because midterm and final are based off quizzes. Study and memorize and you'll def get an A

She is very knowledgeable and fair; stands by her words. As others have mentioned, quizzes every class, and exams are based on quizzes. If you are a slacker, do not like to come to class, do not like to take notes, or cannot spare an hour a day studying, then DO NOT REGISTER FOR HER CLASS. Very easy class, but some students still failed her exams!

Professor Chavis class was very informative, learned a lot, and knows her field with expertise. Quizzes every class so be prepared, study is a must and you will pass. I overall enjoyed this class, and looked forward to her lectures.

I took Professor Chavis summer one and I think she is a AWESOME professor. She really knows her stuff. The class isnt boring at all. She's very intelligent and humorous. You'll never fall asleep in her class. I had atleast 3 quizzes EVERY Class as long as you STUDY your NOTES you'll pass.

She is funny, very knowledgeable, and has a passion for her students success. Though the course load can be heavy she breaks everything down so that you can understand. There is quizzes every class but they are averaged into your overall grade. She is one of the best professors I ever had and I highly recommend her for any psychology class.

Ms. Chavis is a wonderful professor who shows a great passion for psychology. the lecture may be a little heavy but Ms. Chavis breaks it down so that it is clearly understood. she is by far the best professor I have had. I know she teaches developmental psychology and I will not be taking it until I see that she will be the instructor.

I have taken Prof. Chavis for Psy 101 and Abnormal Psy, she is amazing. I really do wish there were more professors like her. She does give a quiz or 2 every class but it's always on the previous lecture or reading material. Because of this, you do not get overloaded with material. BEWARE SHE MAY CAUSE YOU TO CHANGE YOUR MAJOR TO PSY.

I enjoyed taking a class with Professor Chavis! She is very knowlegable on the subject. We did not even need a textbook for the course, as she provided us with notes. Every class we have at least 1 quiz, and sometimes we have upwards to 3 quizzes in one night. When she gives you notes /packets to read, take the time out and read it/study it!!!

OK so 1st you see that her ratings are great from most people if not all. 2nd she is really great not that hard just take NOTES and make sure you study. I had her this summer for 7 wks. Had 2 or 3 quizzes everyday.. wasn't hard. Always have bonus questions on quizzes for extra points. You do not need a textbook. I'm telling you take her now

Great professor but gives 3 or more quizzes every class which was a little rough in the beginning during a summer 7 week course but once you see what her quizzes are about youll get a good adjustment to it must study !!!! She makes sure you know all about psychology when shes done with you

Missing class means missing that day's quiz and probably info for the next quiz. Plenty of quizzes so review daily. Ideal teacher to make you get back on your grind. Studying should be a daily habit anyways. Involve yourself in class. Caring. Don't give her a hard time Lots of packets, articles/readings.

I'm taking PSY101 and I love it. She makes the class very interesting and entertaining with her sense of humor. Her class is easy if you show up for every class and read the handouts. Yes! At every beginning of class, there are quizzes, but it's VERY helpful for her exams. Many of them come from her lectures and handouts. So KEEP STUDYING THEM!!

Her lectures are NEVER boring! She has a great sense of humor. This class is quiz heavy (1-3 quizzes every class - its comical sometimes), but all you have to do is read what she tells you to read, the quizzes REALLY help you for the mid-term and final so no one really minded the quizzes (unless they didnt read). Highly recommend!

I can't find words to describe this amazing professor! I entered her class with butterflies in my stomach and a nervous twitch. She soon calmed my fears in the way she delivered the material with enthusiasm and humor. It was a lot of work but, it was worth the journey. I cannot begin to express how life changing her classes were for me. She validated my interest in Psychology. Proff Chavis was visibly passionate in her lectures, and personally I could hear her speak for hours. She really cares about her students learning the material so its by no means an easy A. However, it is a fun A. She is very fair.

Best Psychology class I have ever taken! I took her fall 2020 semester and every class was education, understanding, and fun to participate in. She is a funny professor that truly cares and understands her students needs and concerns. I wish I could take her class again just for the fun of it.

Took Professor Chavis in the fall and developmental psychology with her in spring. She is amazing at what she does , she makes the lectures fun. Her test are mostly based on her lectures so definitely take notes and study them.

Professor Chavis is amazing! Everything we learn in class is accessible on Canvas, you don't really need your textbook. We had maybe one or two essays to do the entire course, she really only gives quizzes and they are very easy as long as you study the PowerPoints and pay attention. You're set up for success, would definitely take her class again.

AMAZING PROFESSOR! She is a competent professor, good teaching method. I really learned in her class and would definitely take another one with her. I highly recommend her class. No essays, no homework, but you have to read and memorize a lot of information if you want to pass this class.

2-3 quiz every class, 5 questions are given w/bonuses. Gives guides for the quizzes for 1st half then stopped once u get use to it. So funny yet knowledgeable in her lectures, take if you have a easy schedule bc you have to study a lot for the quiz.

As long as you are willing to study and can make time to prepare for quizzes each class, you'll do well. Her quizzes aren't too hard and she gives hints beforehand. Each one has 5 questions (multiple choice & definitions) and 1-2 bonus. Good thing about these quizzes are that you'll know exactly what to expect on the exams.
