NOT a good teacher! i don't even think she like to teach at all! or like her students! other professors you can have fun with in class...but not her! Stay Away!

sooo pro-african american...she puts down everyone who doesn't agree with her. her accent makes it hard to understand her and then if you don't understand and ask for clarification she asks if you're ignorant. do not take her.
She can be confusing and unclear at times. But all in all not bad. dosent assign too much work. and she is a nice person

She is very confusing at times. She does have a deep accent from her hometown, Ghanna. She is very funny, and expects alot of attention to be done in her class. Do the reading, get your "twenty marts" and you'll do fine.
Her grading scale is the worst..throughout the entire semester there is a total of 100 points. So if you do bad on 1 thing, ur screwed! She's every hard to understand, not very friendly. Expects too much from freshman.

The accent was troublesome but eventually comes easier to understand. "Quiz" questions were hard to interpret. Interesting and very comfortable with her color but well aware of predjudice. I learned a great deal from her.

she is terrible. You can't understand her at all and her 8s and 9s sound exactly the same.
donkor knows her stuff but it VERY difficult to cope with. she is not very understanding...would not recommend taking ANY of her classes unless absolutely necessary, even then, DON'T DO IT

When you try and add a cmment in her class she shoots you down. She said the class would be fun and engaging but it is like any other history class I have ever had ...... borring zzzzz.....
sometimes hard to understand. she tries to make her quizzes easy but they are hard anyway. doesn't assign much work, i don't even have a book.
She gives you opportunities to make up bad tests if the majority of the class does bad. She tries to help you out but her 8's and 9's sound the same and she doesn't tollerate distractions
I had spiller first for this class and dropped him,terrible. She gives tons of analogies and examples. Yes,it's like school, she doesn't tolerate talking!She has a good sense of humour. Her essay tests are great. I'd take something with her again.

She may be hard to understand sometimes, but she is helpful if you go see her in person and bend sover backwords for her students. She just doesn't take **** from students..neither would I.

She has an african accent, but she isn't to hard to understnad. She is nice, but she has a ton of notes to take and the material is boring. As a person she is cool, as a teacher she is uninteresting
She's somewhat hard to understand, but you get useto it. She is never wrong, don't bother trying to correct her. She has makeup quizes if people do bad on them, which is nice. She's not bad, i'd probably take her again.
Her accent isn't the problem. She is ALWAYS right, and she isn't clear on her assignments and extra credit. Expects you to read her mind and complains loudly when students don't. She does give extra credit but counts it only if she wants to.

She is kinda hard to understand but all ou have to do is ask her what she said and ahe will repeat it again. the tests are alittle hare but all you have to do os study for them or just ask for help
What can say she rocks! One the nicest teacher I have ever had, she very helpful! She is one of the few teacher that knows how to teach. I would take her again in a heart beat.....
The class was very easy but the problem was that you were expected to read her mind and she wasn't very clear on what was expected of you on papers for class.

Doctor Donkor is a excellent teacher. Her tests are not too hard and she is willing to help you. She also is a very nice person.
Tests are fairly hard, each test is a different format so its hard to know how to prepare. She's very vague on how to prepare for the test and doesn't follow the book. Take all the notes you can in her class, and that will help you the most. Can be rude at times also. but has funny stories too.

cute accent, very intelligent. know material,take notes, should be ok. watched roots - was kind of cliche approach to slavery theme. forced to work in groups, which was an awful experience (dim policy girl attack)! would only take again if no group work was forced. like to be graded on own merit - not on whether or not i can kiss prissy ***.
Donkor is the freakin bomb!! Shes so nice and gives you the tests you want to take, she's so helpful...def take her if you get the chance...
She's really cool, helpful, and she will be fair if you show her your doing your best. She's hot too!
She knows her stuff. She's a little opinionated and almost seemed Anti-Americans sometimes, but as time went on I saw she was actually very smart, dedicated, and nice. She let me do make up quizzes all the time if I missed class. If you read and don't talk in class you won't have a problem

Her accent can get in the way, but overall she's a very good professor. Goes into detail about almost every topic mentioned...Also, if she asks you if u want MC or Essay, take the Essay

Donkor is simply AMAZING! Classes are always refreshing with discussions about current topics. She is a VERY intelligent woman and an easy grader too. She will open up a whole new way of thinking for you! Simply incredible....

Martha Donkor is sometimes hard to understand, but she tries to be funny during class, her notes are all over and dont really make much sense, she tries to explain things but gets side tracked, I wouldn't suggest her to anyone she is not one of the best teachers but I am sure she is not the worst, I would never take her again!
she goes to fast and her tests are on random material. i hated this class but needed it for my major or i would have never taken it. My advice- stay as far away from this teacher as u can, shes horrible
I would have never tooken this class if i didnt need it for my major. Her tests were essays which she grades extremly hard! She expects you to know information never taught and not in the book. You could write the essay and get an A in history but shed find it a C paper. I hated this class and wouldnt recommend it to anyone ever!
Dr. Donkor is a very nice woman and Professor! All of her tests are multipul choice, short answer, or essy... YOU DECIDE what kind of test YOU want to take. Shes also very willing to help any student that needs help!
I was planning on minoring in Women's Studies, but after having her as a teacher I have had second thoughts about it. She is a feminist/racism women. The reading she assigns doesn't help with her lecture and she makes stuff up. Wouldn't recommend taking her.
Do not take this woman! I took history 261 because i needed it for a gen ed and ended up studying more for this class than my major classes! tests are hard if they are essay. Unless you are an english major you will have a tough time, she takes off points for any grammatical errors and the test is only 20 points so you end up getting a 13!
Don't listen to what the other people are saying.Dr. Donkhow is an awesome teacher!Yeah,if you want to take a history class where you learn nothing,don't have to show up,and get to sleep through class this isn't the teacher for you,but if you're honestly in college to get an EDUCATION take this teacher.Then again,Heaven forbid you learn something
Very thick accent, seemingly **** towards anyone who isn't black, crazy-feminist, lectures come from somewhere other than our reading materials, essay tests (that are graded very HARD), and she's an attendence thumper. Really not worth your time...choose someone else if you can.
Great Lady. Will help you out if you need it, but you have to go to her and tell her. She will get you help. And it is a class that you have to go to everyday because the notes we take are one the test. But if you study you will be fine.

She is a horrible professor! She is from Ghana so her accent can be hard to understand. She is a huge feminist and seems to be against white people. She is very unorganized. Her lectures are all over the place and does not go along with the book. If you have a chance to take the class with another professor than make sure you do!
VERY thick accent making it difficult to understand lectures. Option of essay/multiple choice tests. BEWARE! Half the test is fill in. She tries to be pleasant I guess but it just doesn't work.Even said "I don't care if you pass my class- to be honest I would rather not have you in it" a bit harsh don't you think? Great teacher! You have to go to class, if you don't show up you won't pass but I think that goes without saying when you're in college. I took her while I was pregnant and had the child that same semester and I got an A so if you can't do it you're not trying. Take notes, show up, be a responsible adult for God's sake
Her multiple choice test are hard if you get a choice take her essay they are much easier. She is fair she helped our class pass by giving a extra credit quiz. She gives two papers 2 pages each make sure you know exactly what she wants you to write she isnt very specific. She is definitly easier than Spiller.
She's a great teacher, EXTREMELY smart and really knows the material. Plus she's funny AND beautiful, which helps. If you have the choice, take the essay tests and not the multiple choice. Trust me. Otherwise, you just need to show up (yeah, kids, tough I know!) and take notes and you can pull an A very easily. She's fair.

tests all essay, will deduct points for long sentences or paragraphs, or other 'grammatical' variations, lol. highly critical, intelligent, but if she doesn't like you, she takes off more points than normally. makes solid points at times, somewhat scattered. ask questions, read the material, participate, and move past her accent! not too bad.
Accent isn't bad. Her essay tests are easy but sometimes you won't know where you lost points at. Seems to be all over the place with the material.
Dr. Donkor is a little rough around the edges at first but once you get to know her she really isn't so bad. My advice to you is to let her know that you is participate in class and make sure she knows you exist. I took her class once and dropped out thinking she was aweful but I took her again and that just wasn't the case. I would recommend her:)
I think she's great!! Take her essay tests-they're much easier. She's really interesing and likes what she does. I plan on taking another class with her asap!!
She knows her stuff, and she is organised with it. Her essay exams are easy to get by if you attend the lectures and have a brain. BUT, she will cut your grade on silly things: cursive writing on a test, capital letters. She has the bad habit of getting repetitive on useless info that doesn't pertain to the subject and won't explain battles.

Her tests aren't that bad you just have to study so much stuff that isn't nessecary. shes sometimes hard to understand. she will start talking about one thing and switch to another which makes it super confusing. I dont think I would take her again

She is not a very good teacher, i can hardly understand her when she speaks. History was never one of my strong subjects, but now its my worst. I dont know how she got a job teaching here, there are so many students in this class failing.
Wonderful, energetic, and intelligent woman. is very passionate about woman's studies and appreciates students who share that passion. her accent is fairly distracting for about the first week, but it doesn't take long to get over it. Reading and participation is essential and fulfilling. this is one of the best classes i have ever taken.
I don't feel that professors should be assert their feministic views as much as she did. do study for the tests. If I had a choice I would not take a class that she taught if another professor was offered.
She is very hard to understand at first with her accent but you'll get used to it. The material is not very hard to understand but you must read and do well on tests to get a good grade. Final is extremely difficult so be prepared to study for many days and focus on the little things that may not have been talked about in class.
Her class was by far the hardest history clas I have ever taken. The work wasnt hard but I couldnt undersand a word the lady was trying to say. she also has essay test and some of the stuff on the tests, she didnt cover in class. I wouldnt take her class agin!
Great teacher! At first her accent is hard to understand but you will get used to it. She knows her stuff, very smart. Take the essays not the multiple choice! Pay attention to the small details to make it seem like you really know what your talking about in your essays and you will do good. Fun teacher, I would reccomend her

Teacher is nice and she likes to make jokes to keep class awake. She usually lets us pick what type of test we what to take. Class is easy as long as you study your notes and go to class. When you first meet her it is hard to understand her but then you get used to her accent.

Tests have next to nothing to do with lecture and articles. Tests are scored subjectively and arbitratily. Write what you think she wants to hear and your personal experiences. Your opinion is wrong unless it's hers too. Description in one word;Dogmatic.
In a word Doncor is dogmatic. Tests have little to do with lecture or texts. Essay questions are incomplete compared to the answers desired and are graded arbitrarily. It's best to assume her views and opinions while using your own personal examples.
Foreign profesor.Strong accent.Does not use the textbook at all. She basically tests on what she says in class so take notes. Skips war and battles so u have to google. I do not recomend her.

Biggest waste for time, 2 books required and never used them, tests were a joke, all she talks about is genitalia and FGM as a person I like her but this class was worthless
She is strict with grading. If you make any grammar errors on essays or even for get to capitalize or use periods, you get points deducted. If you're a History or English Major, no worries.
She is very strict. Not all of us are history majors. Also a very dry class... If you pass the first two tests, you're safe. I was walking on a tight rope and worked so hard just for a barely passing grade. I wouldn't recommend her.
Dr. Donkor is amazing. I was unsure of what to expect from her based on the previous ratings on here, but she is nothing like that. She is such a nice, caring professor, and I always enjoyed talking with her outside of class. She does make class as enjoyable as she can. I wish I would have taken her sooner in college. Awesome professor!!
I would take her again, pay attention and read the book and you should not have a problem. She seems tough but she just except you to pay attention and read, I don't feel thats to much to ask. I would take her again for another class.
I never understood my grades in this class
I have no idea how anyone could give her a bad grade on here. It's an easy class and she cares about what she teaches. If you are considering her for any women's studies course, TAKE HER. You won't regret it. She only posted articles for us to read and print at home. No textbook!

When I went to class, I couldn't understand anything she said. Her accent is extremely heavy. I felt frustrated even going to class so I just stopped going out of frustration.
Martha Donkor is a fairly radical, highly opinionated person who is completely different outside the classroom than in it, she generally wants the students to succeed and is willing to take on the personal problems of her students regardless of who their adviser is. She is Ghanaian and has a thick African accent, making her a bit hard to understand
Dr. Donkor was a very helpful teacher. I would suggest taking her class if you work hard and pay attention otherwise no. She will help you if you show you need it and will not let you fail if you put all your effort towards the class.
Though it was often confusing to know what she expected from students, Donkor is a good professor. She is caring and clear to understand if you pay close attention. Take lots of notes and study from them. You get from her class what you put into it, do not expect an easy "A".

As a person, she is awesome. She has this sassy feminist attitude that is hilarious. As far as teaching goes, she does go really fast with her powerpoints and its hard to write that stuff down and they stuff she is saying. Its sometimes hard to grasp what she wants in her essays since she never explains why she took points off.
She will asks questions that if you've at least skimmed the textbook you should be able to answer. She has 5 tests, where you can either do essay questions or multiple choice, DO ESSAY! She gives extra credit, she will tell you funny stories, and she will teach you everything until end of civil war. She is a great History teacher.
The things she taught in this class changed my life. I would highly recommend taking her class, male or female. She is very smart and her story is inspiring. Huge eye opener. Lots of class discussions/opinions
