You really can learn a lot from this instructor if you can get by her little idiocyncracies.
This showed me how aimless college can be. This class was 18 weeks of my life I can never have back. By taking her class you are agreeing to have your soul corrupted.
a very inferior teacher, she fits right in to Platteville's notion of what higher education is all about.
She is UWP's idea of a good faculty member. Not a student's choice.
She made me give up reading as a "fun" thing to do.

Not only does she hate us, she hates herself as well.
The other faculty say that they want to be just like her when they grow up.
Knows what she is talking about. Very clear instructions, but the work is not level with course requirements. She expects much more than we are able to give.

Horrible, most teachers want kids to stay awake in class, since she gets headaches she turns the lights off, so everyone falls asleep. VERY BORING and maticulate on grading papers

She really frightens the heck out of me and my friends.
Much more content than is needed for a course of this nature. She is not a very liberal grader and not very flexible with deadlines.

She fell asleep at least twice during her own lectures this semester.
The class just kind of worms its way along through the semester. 15 weeks never felt soooooooo long.
Very good at relating the most complex concepts in a simple manner.
She liked me, so I got through pretty easily. She was pretty hard though. I felt bad for the kids that she picked on.

She is really strict and scary to me and my friends, but she sure knows her stuff.
very picky on grading, if it is not exactly how she wants it, she will hand it back for you to fix before grading and time can't go fast enough to get out of that room!
Does not take very well to students who are not prepared. Very clear and concise lectures. Lots of reading too.
lousy teacher....teaches in the dark most of the time which is kind of wierd.....and dont skip class or get on her bad side!
Okay imagine the worst way to waste time. Magnify that a million times and you almost have the picture. Waste of time! Teaches class with lights off, cranky and makes you read too much from books she has written (500+ pages) Zzzzz

She was very helpful and supportive of me and my goal of getting a passing grade in her course. She let me do extra credit to help my overall grade and understanding of the subject.
HARD GRADER!! Always in a bad mood. She is the only one that is right. Very picky. Very hard test grader. DONT TAKE THIS TEACHER!!
Tough but supportive if you put through the effort. She does not like to waste her time with lazy students.
Scary but if you go to her office she will help you. She has a very hard course to follow and does not give out extra credit much at all.
strange grading curve, I got an B but don't really know how it happened. she helped me w/ some written examps and I came out fine.
Soft on the eyes and was really helpful come final project time to me and my friend that took her course.
Great technical artist. Has a mindset that students are here to learn and not party.

Worst professor ever!!! Spent our entire semester of Freshmen comp on Middle English Lyric Poetry...most boring four months of my life. Avoid her classes at all costs. I would rather roll in glass than have another class with MD.

Good teacher if you can teach yourself, also she seems to be a direct decendent from the first fallen angel. However, if you were good at english in high school you may do average in this istance. She is very hard, take her at your own will.
I'll just say this, I'd rather cut off all my toes with a dull butter knife than to ever sit through another one of her lectures. EVER AGAIN!!!
You'll get a good grade if you talk in class and agree with her no matter how crappy you do on tests and papers.

Ahhh....paper due everyday I went to class. She was CRAZY but liked you if you agreed with her. Even though we had a paper due everyday I received only 1 A the entire semester.
paper due everyday. will help you and make you a better writer if you keep an open mind. we had wayy different politics, but she didnt hold this against me. didn't like the topics (torture, war, machiavelli). I ended up with an A but i worked my ass off for it. I wouldn't recommend her. too many other, easier english teachers.
where, to start! she leaves the lights off during class, she makes you read a lot and hand in papers daily. She was raised in the south, and is teaching college english. explain that one to me. She has a accent, talks quietly, and says the word "Um," at least 80-90 times a lecture.
lond story short she is unorganized and hard to listen to says ah or um way to much like everyother word. Can't remember when she says to turn things in. tells you that you can hand write then 10 mins later says it has to be typed. Hard to listen to.
Ummm or ahhh are her two favorite words. I cannot stand the lady and hope to hell I at least pass.
Very Very stubborn old woman who says umm at least twice per minute. Every negative comment on this site is absolutely true. It's her way or the highway. Class today felt like being in group therapy? Why do you think this way, why do you feel that way?, etc. Learned absolutely nothing and stuggled alot to get C-s on papers. DO NOT TAKE HER!!!
She was extremely uninteresting and left us with long gaps in classes where we would sit around and discuss nothing. also, listening to her speak was about as interesting as watching paint dry.
Hard, students unsure of what is revelant and what is rambling. Hard grader, isn't clear on what is expected of students.
i love english but this class was TERRIBLE. she sent me to the dean for disagreeing with an assignment that involved entering a credit card number in order to access decent research information online.
she walked out on our class TWICE because someone disagreed with her opinion. DONT TAKE HER.
Horrible. It wouldnt surprise me if she wrote herself the good comment below. Rambles a TON. every other word is 'ahhhh, ummm'. Was 30 minutes late to the final. Very unclear as to what she wants on the papers. the ENTIRE SEMESTER was spent writing/researching family history, regardless of if you had before, and previous research cant be used.
Worst Teacher Ever! Never take her.
She comes very unprepared to class. Very hard to understand. Didn't think through the class material properly. In a World Novel class you would think that there would be some big name authors being used, or at least some well known works. There were none! I will never take this professor again and if I get a D I will be happy!
This professor is in no way the "average" English professor. She assigns seats by first name and stood on a desk in the middle of class. She dose seem to care what students think and listens to them. If a student makes a point and can support that point, then she might change her mind. She was not always clear about the writing topics though.
Worst professor ever!! I disagreed with her point of view and she told me that I need psychiatric help and my parents must abuse me. She sat me down to try and "counsel" me before I could drop her class. Shes a complete worthless pos.
Sooooooo easy. every day you sit in class and discuss the reading(yeah, its also extremely boring) She is pretty strange, but her class is so easy, just show up and put a little effort into the 3 or 4 writing assignments that are assigned for the entire semester and your good.
super easy class, free writing everyday, makes u read out loud. there is no point in arguing with her over stupid things, her opinion is all that matters. picks favorites-just be willing to read out loud and agree with her to become one...then you'll get an A

If you like the sound of someone snorting their snot throughout class, then Martha is the teacher for you! I was so grossed out by her that I couldn't even think! Assignments were not difficult, but her tests are pretty bad. Avoid her classes and maybe they will finally make her retire....
Unclear about what she wants. Strict about Unnecessary things like URLs in MLA7. Spends whole hours ranting about concervatives. I feel like I have to lower my standards to please her at all.
Not someone I would ever recommend, unless you like professors that have low standards.
She is possibly the worst teaher I have ever had. Her teaching methods are outdated but refuses to be wrong about anything. She with disagree with your point and then say exactly what you said in different words. She picks favorites and only teaches to them. She is angry at the world and hates all college students. Don't take her class.
Worst professor ever! She wants you to visit her in her office either before or after writing essays. I visited her once before turning in an essay. She told me all was good, so I get it back and it was all marked up in red pen. She makes you do tons of revisions on essays no matter what! Take this coure with a different professor at any cost.
I highly recommend u guys to take this class. Although many students in her class have a hard time, it is the best way to improve your writing skills. Practice makes perfect!
She is one of the easiest professors I have had at UWP. Unfortunately attendance is mandatory so you have to sit through her dull lectures. The class is a breeze because you only have 4 essays- which you can resubmit endlessly. Don't respond to her in class... she might expect something out of you.
