GREAT class! Lots of time to make the grade, bonus points, and lectures that are easy to follow. Go to the labs, and you won't have any problems.
Very Very easy class. Ended up with 395/400. Did not make an A on any test but got 63 bonus pts on tests. Easy A if you attend class

She was great for psych of learning. Very eager to help, very smart lady. one of my favorites so far...:)
she was helpful, and really interested in what she was talking about. but go to class
VERY EASY. IF YOU GO TO CLASS YOU GET AN EASY A.
A wonderful teacher! She doesn't offer that much extra credit in our class though... Very understanding, but pop quizzes so go to class!
Dr. Escobar is WAY cool!! She has been my favorite professor at AU so far!!! I highly recomend her class! It is not very hard and it is extremely interesting!!!
she is good at lecturing, but she doesn't teach how to apply the material to her test. her test are all situations and you have to apply the information that you learn to her questions. almost everyone made a D or F on the first test.
way too much information to study for the tests. tests are hard. lots of extra credit.
you definatly have to work in this class, but if you go to class and do your readings she is not hard. It takes about one test to understand what excatly she tests you on. She only gives ten possible bonus points for the year, and dosn't curve tests..
great teacher, but don't leave class early if you go.
I loved her class! she is very intelligent and she has a funny sense of humor! Gives a lot of opportunities for bonus!
Need to go to class
go to class don't need to read, because the lectures are straight from the book, but do do the study guides cause there are questions not in the lecture. go to class for pop-quizes and do good on them cuase they can replace a bad test grade.
Go to class. She is a good teacher and makes it easy if you go to class and do the study guides. It was not hard at all.
This is the worst teacher I've ever had!!
She is the easiest teacher! Just go to class! Her notes/study guides are exactly like her tests. She offers up to 20 extra credit pts during the semester, and 45 bonus pts on the final!
Great class, would have had a 59 without bonus... came out to an 86 with it.... bonus
She's the best!! She's very straightforward and will clearly answer any questions you have. Go to class and you'll learn a lot.
What a sweetheart. Funny, smart and good looking. And Spanish!!! She should get tenure just to balance karma. A precious, precious, woman, gentle and sweet. Though she'll fail you if you don't go to class.
Very helpful, but she is tough. I loved her as a teacher. I would take any of her classes! Makes the courses very interesting!
Professor was very interactive and helpful
she is hard but if you study what she gives you and you do extra credit an a is not impossible
The class itself is challenging. You have to study and come to class. She's a very nice person. She's lively and a good teacher. She gives an opportunity of up to 20 bonus points for the semester.
whoever said she was awful must not have participated in the course! she is great! i'm also in her labs and she is nothing but helpful. she will explain things to you in terms that you can understand, always. i think she's awesome and am still in her lab for the 2nd semester.
She is sooo easy and gives so much extra credit! She does have a strict attendance policy though.
She is a hard ass teacher I dont like her at all, probably because her tests suck ass.
Read and go to class and you will make an A. She is very sweet and a wonderful teacher...very clear on material
I really liked her she did not have an attendence policy, but its better to go. Her tests are more application than memorization so you need to study in advance. Take the quizzes because they can really help your grade.
SHE SUCKS! don't take her. she's the reason i changed my major
Gave quizzes everyday over the assigned reading. Straightforward tests. She's a very nice woman who happens to be quite attractive.
Dr. Escobar is great. She is hard, but I have never had a teacher do so much extra stuff to help you study for her tests. During labs, she gives you a pratice lab, then gives you the answers, then gives you the real lab. The labs are great to study from. She also gives a lot of extra credit and extra credit quizes.
Dr. Escobar is awesome! She is helpful, but you have to go up to her and ask. Don't be afraid. She is really nice. She isn't lying to you when she says her class is hard, but if you do the work, and study, you'll do well!
Loved Dr. Escobar and the class, although she didn't always explain the material thoroughly or clearly enough and I sometimes had to go through all my other textbooks to find answers since she wasn't able to explain it in a way i understood. read nightly, and you'll be fine. I got an A even though i didn't read, and she's very helpful and nice!!
She is super sweet but unfortunately she cannot teach. Be prepared to be tormented all semester with CS/US labs. The labs are very confusing and unorganized. We always had difficulty with questions having multiple answers. READ THE BOOK because her tests are way more technical than she makes them sound.
Well, I enjoyed the class. Overall, Escobar is a pleasure to learn from, BUT occasionally, she fails to explain things clearly. Her tests are hard, and at times, test questions are poorly phrased. Nevertheless, an 'A' is very possible; you just have to work and READ!
Not always clear but if you go and meet with her she is very willing to help. Overall tried to make class interesting.
She is a horrible teacher. This is my 4th psychology class making an "A" in all of them and I am hoping to get out of here with a "C." All I have to say is DONT TAKE HER!!!!
Im doing fine in the class, its really not that hard if you actually do the reading (though it is boring sometimes) and study the material. Dr. Escobar's lectures are interesting (though sometimes hard to follow if you didnt read the assign) and she is always willing to help. There are too many whiny people in the class who hardly ever come anyway.
Only 1 word to describe this lady...HORRIBLE!!! Her tests are awful and she does not explain the material well at all!! DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!
I had her for Learning, and I must say; it ain't easy. Don't think this is just another PSYCH class where you can show up when you want and pull off an A. You HAVE to go to class every day and study every now and then to do well. But, she's EXTREMELY helpful; she gives massive amounts of extra credit! She's a very, very fair professor.
Its smart to go to class because she gives good examples and the things she says in class that is fair game for tests. Print off the slides and do the study questions and you should be fine. You must study for the test, but you should easily have a B. Labs are mandatory and there are normally a pop quiz in class once a week but they are easy.
She is a straight forward, easy to listen to professor. her tests directly reflected her lectures and it wasn't easy but the opportunities for extra credit were overwhelming and the study guides help so much. take her if you get the chance.
Very good professor. Clear lectures, text book is not mandatory, only suggested to keep up with the readings to be prepared for lab. test comes straight from lectures and at least one quiz per week. quizzes are not mandatory, but will replace worst test grade. I had an F in the class at midterm, ended up with a B.
Take Dr. Escobar! She posts her slides, so lectures are easy to understand and you can listen more than take notes. She offers many many extra credit opportunities. Sometimes she is hard to understand, but you will do well in this class. GTA was very helpful-Rob Bubb. You will need to study, but highly rec. her!
I believe this teacher takes an Intro to Psychology course way to seriously. She give a ridiculus amount of study questions for each chapter which are answered mostly in paragraph form. If you do not want to spend a lot of time studying for a course that is an elective, do not take this teacher. Take sociology. I hear that is an easy course.
She is a great teacher. She lets you drop your lowest exam grade and replace it with your quiz grades. (She has frequent pop quizzes to check for attendance, but they are easy). She allows you to do bonus too. I would highly recommend taking her, she has been great! She provides great study guides prior to each exam.
I loved Dr. Escobar! She's very interested in what she teaches and she makes class really interesting. Her tests are really easy if you do the study questions she gives you (the answers come directly from her powerpoints so it only takes a short time to do). I would hightly recommend her!
This is a GREAT class to take. She makes everything so interesting and the lectures are not mandatory, but you can only miss lab three times, but they are very helpful. Her examples in class are so fascinating. Also, she gives study questions for every test (which is pretty much everything on the test). This is by far one of my favorite classes.
She is entertaining and teaches the material very well, making it as interesting as it can be. Anything that's unclear can be cleared up for you in the lab sections, or you can e-mail questions. There's plenty of opportunities for extra credit with various psychology studies. Great class!
Dr. Escobar is amazing! She is a great teacher and attempts to make the class interesting. just read over the notes a few times before the test and you should be fine, and she gives so much extra credit that you are pretty much guaranteed a B. Great class!!
LOVED her. The tests come completely from the study guide and short answer questions, so it's easy. Definitely do the bonus work, I regret not doing more. Take Escobar!
Dr. Escobar was an awesome professor. She was definitely my favorite of the semester. She really wanted her students to do well. She gives out study questions that are extremely helpful and she puts her notes on Blackboard. I would take her class again.
I really like her! Her tests are somewhat hard but not if you study MOSTLY the study guides and short answers. Do all the extra credit! I know it may seem a lot but it helps your grade a lot more than you think! She definitely knows what she's talking about and she's funny! I really enjoy the subject and her class!
I went into her intro to Psychology class as a Pre-Psychology major and now am debating on switching to another major because of her. She makes jokes that really are not funny, she doesn't teach well, and complains for a lot of the class. She reads straight from the book and notes that you could easily find online.
This class is not impossible by any means. However, my mother (who is in grad school for a higher psych degree) used my class notes to help her study. She goes WAY too in depth for an intro class. She tends to leave out bits and pieces of information that would help students understand concepts better. Not impossible, but i would take someone else!
Dr. Escobar was a great professor. The information taught in the course sticks. The GTA's offer a review session the day before each test based off review questions Dr. Escobar posts on blackboard. The review questions are a lot,but very helpful for the test and the answers are covered in the review session.Lab session helps boost your grade also
I am by know means a psychology major but Dr. Escobar made class very interesting showing us videos and involving the class in activities. She gives you LOTS of extra credit, study guides, GTAs are SUPER helpful. She also replaces your lowest test grade with your quiz grades if they are higher. Wants you to learn and succeed! I recommend this class
Not impossible to get an A due to extra credit. Take the time to answer the study questions; that's your only hope at being prepared for the test. The things you're expected to know from readings are covered in study questions. Posts notes online. Exams are 40 MC and 5 short answer. She makes a class that should be interesting and fun, boring.
I think it was too much information for an intro class, but it was easy enough. Keep up with the readings and pay attention in class. She moves a little fast in lectures.
This very well could have been my favorite class of my first semester at AU. Although I had to study a lot, and it was WAY harder than a normal intro class, I thoroughly enjoyed it. She is very good at teaching, and does plenty to help you out. I would actually prefer to take her class and get a B than take an easier professor and get an A.
Teaches in a text slide lecture format. Makes examples make sense. Has clicker questions almost every day. Tests are easy if you do ALL the study questions (around 150 questions) and then just study them for a few hours. Do ALL the extra credit as they take almost no time and are COMPLETELY worth it. Overall: Semi-easy with a little effort
Going to class and reading along is KEY in this class. She is hilarious and wants to connect with the students. If you put an effort in, you will get an A. You can earn up to 20 extra credit points on your tests so if you study and put in the extra effort, you'll get an A. Love Dr. Escobar so much and she's made me consider majoring in psychology
I had Escobar for Inro to Psych and found the class somewhat difficult. Escobar teaches the material very clearly, the tests can just be a little tricky if you don't think through some of the questions. She does put up 20 short answer questions before the test and then picks 5 of those so make sure you look at that list.
Nice lady but she doesn't realize it's an INTRO class. The class is hard. I would advise getting another teacher. If you understand the material, you can still do poorly on the test mainly because she is so tricky and detailed. Very nice and helpful but too hard to an Intro class.
Dr. Escobar is an AMAZING professor. she really does want her students to succeed. The class is difficult if you do not put anytime into it. Never read the book went to class everyday to listen to her lectures. She is super funny and makes class interesting. lots of opportunities for extra credit. Easily my favorite class of the semester.
Dr. Escobar is fantastic at teaching psychology. She is very very smart and can answer almost any question you bring her. Whoever says this class is difficult must not be very smart because this was my easiest class of the semester! She gives you a study guide that has EVERYTHING on it... it's like high school. Definitely take Escobar! She is great
Escobar is a good teacher. The resources she provides will more than prepare you for the tests, but I would recommend studying ahead of the night before. They aren't straight-forward. There are numerous oppurtunities for extra credit, however. The exam is not cumlative. I recommend her
Dr Escobar is a good teacher. She made me love psychology....BUT her test are very tricky. You learn a lot but hard to apply to the specifics of the test questions she asks. Mixed feelings, good professor...hard tests
Hard tricky test. She gives you a study guide and is a good teacher. No homework.4 tests. No final. You learn alot. Read the book. Hard to get an A. I did all extra credit points and studied for test and barely made a B.
Very fast-paced and hard to keep up with. Not very helpful...the most I got out of it was from the TA. Tests are also kind of tricky...I wouldn't recommend for a core class
The notes are very long and the material covered is rather easy, but when it comes to the test she likes to use her own examples which make the tests very hard.
She made me love psychology! Yes, the tests are tricky, but she gives you a really great study guide! And clicker points can replace your lowest test grade, so if you get 100 clicker points you get a 100 on a test! She is an awesome teacher and it's a great class. Also, take the time to read the book and it will really help. Final isn't cumulative.
I absolutely loved this class. I looked forward to it every time. Dr. Escobar is very good at explaining the complicated topics and answering questions. She always posts the notes the night before. Also, if you get more clicker points throughout the semester than a grade you got on a test, the clicker points can replace the low test grade!
Dr. Escobar is by far one of my favorite professors at the university! She is very challenging but very interesting. She will help you in office hours if you need it and is very open to discussion in class. If you get the chance to take her TAKE HER CLASS!! She gives clicker points to help your final grade and bonus. She is GREAT!!!
She is a great professor that is clearly passionate about what she is teaching. Her lectures are straightforward and easy to understand. A LOT of reading is assigned and her tests are surprisingly REALLY hard. I still came out with an A, though, and I'm glad I took the class!
Horrible professor! Test are very tricky, and goes entirely too fast. She never seems to have time to meet with you during office hours, and she hates to be emailed. She is also very rude when you contact her.
I enjoyed this class very much! Just listen in class and do the study guides before the tests and you will do fine. She allows you to acquire clicker points throughout the semester, and at the end she replaces your lowest exam grades with the clicker points. Learn concepts rather than memorize. Her tests have lots of examples.
To start, pretty hard class. She does go entirely too fast for an intro class. But, the study guides are great, she is willing to meet with you and help you if you ask. I got an A but had to work my butt off. She does do clicker points for attendance, which are also for points. Great teacher. Just hard.
pretty easy if you go to the class and review notes. just do your work and you will be fine. She is rely good at explaining things, so understanding is not a problem. i recommend this class.
Tough class. Good Teacher. Go to class, listen, do study guides and you'll be fine. I would take her again.
TAKE THIS CLASS! You have to go to class and do the study guides, but she makes class interesting and gives daily clicker points. At the end of the semester she replaces your lowest test grade with them. Never read the book and came out with an A in the class, I'd definitely take her again.
This class was very interesting but super hard to get an A in. I didn't read the book and I feel like it would have helped me a lot. She gives clicker points which count A LOT in your final grade so go to class!Overall, she was a great teacher but be prepared to work so hard for a good grade. Tests are super hard.
This was a very hard class for me. She goes through things very fast and the tests are VERY hard and confusing. I worked really hard and still got a C. Everything is online though and she does give extra credit.
Incredible teacher. Go to class everyday because she does clicker questions that will help your grade. Definitely do the extra credit. Take notes but still read the textbook because she occasionally asks clicker questions about the reading. Very interesting subject and she makes it enjoyable. I loved going to class every day.
I enjoyed Dr. Escobar's class. The lectures can be interesting, and the tests aren't too difficult. Once I started putting forth a moderate amount of effort I got As and Bs. Make sure you do your lab hours by the extra credit deadline, then max them out. It's not that hard, and can really help your grade. I would take her class again.
Absolutely love Dr. Escobar. Her test are pretty hard but she give extra credit for sona and replaces your lowest grade with you clicker point. Test are given on the computer in lab which was weird. But she is very helpful and nice. I never made above a B on the test but was able to make an A with extra credit and clicker points.
Dr. Escobar is really nice. The tests are so hard you have to study really hard for them, but she's always there for you if you need. She's so helpful.
Dr Escobar was extremely nice and her class was interesting she posts her lectures online but she gives clicker questions everyday so come to class. I honestly did not read every time and still did pretty good on the questions. You need to study for Tests and her online quizzes can be hard af. Go to her office hours. She lets you ask questions also
I actually had Escobar at Oakland University instead of Auburn. She was really funny and helpful. Oakland requires PSY100 students to complete credit hours and if you completed yours, she gave you an extra 20% on your fourth exam even if it bumped your grade above a 100%. I would definitely take the class again.
Loved her as a professor. Pretty clear lectures and her weekly assignments weren't bad either. Just pay attention in class, and don't skip. She posts all her notes and assignments on moodle along with study guides for the final, which are attached to the weekly questions. She is completely understanding and is willing to work with any student.
Passion for subject material, fair grader. Would definitely recommend.
Professor Escobar was mediocre at best. Thick accent and exam heavy, but extremely knowledgable about all things psychology related. I took this class as a gen ed and found it difficult for a 100 level course.
Good Teacher. Go to class.
Professor Escobar is extremely passionate about her job and she will tell you that. She is very strict on you paying attention and she will even threaten to take away your phone/call you out but she has never not wanted to help or answer questions. Honestly there should be no reason to fail her class if you attend and pay attention.
