less work than the rest of the ids classes
easiest ever. wrote 2 papers 5 pages each all year. no final.
best teacher at sdsu, loved her
she is nice but not clear at all and the assignments are pointless
incredible teacher, fun class, wants you 2do well& understand material
VERY funny but assignments are pointless and she can be unclear at times
Wonderful Lady! Changed my life! A little scatter-brained, but great!
Interesting teacher.Makes u think.Boring assignments.Fun class
easy compare to other teachers-have hw, 2 in-class writing quiz, group project
wants you to learn AND get good grades. shes great.
She is great! I learned so much, and she was so helpful, wants you to succeed!
funny and crazy lady...take her...the best ids 290 teacher...really easy class
Coolest Teacher I have Had! Be Prepared for a different kind of learning xpernce
gotta take this lady.... shes great!
shes crazy n funny! class was never boring...n shes a gOOd teacher!!
funny lady, easy class, makes learning fun, highly suggest you take this class!
Comments are too similar.
Great if you're into paying for a stand-up comic.
good luck registering in her class

Not educational. Had no idea what she was testing or grading on.
Great teacher. Don't take anyone else for this course! A really fun class!
UNPREDICTABLE upbeat laughs a lot teacher! you dont realize she's lecturing you because it seems like a normal interesting conversation. i want her for my RWS 200 for sure!
fun teacher. assignments are unclear, and then she grades you down b/c papers are not what she was looking for ; yet she never specifies what she's looking for. She changes her mind all the time, and grades based on her mood
Great teacher, great lady, i only got a B, but its was fun and educational, dont take anyone else
She's a really cool teacher. Chances are you wont get and A, but all the other 290 teachers suck so you might as well have a good time.
Wow, honestly I learned two things in this class. Grades made no sense whatsoever. Granted she was entertaining...but I was there to learn something, which I did not.
She's wonderful! Enjoyable lectures. Learned a lot towards future plans. Let her know you; will get a better grade. She's the best from other IDS 290 prof's. Take her!!
organization could use some work but she is a very easy teacher. you can turn stuff in late and she wont care. do well on the in class writings and you will get a good grade. She likes really outgoing, talkative people.
Funniest teacher ever. I really enjoyed her class and even learned something. Her assignment are somewhat random and pointless, but oh well. She is still the best IDS 290 teacher around
GOOD CLASS. TAKE IT DURING THE SUMMER.
One of the best professors I've had at SDSU. She teaches well and is willing to go out of her way to help you learn. I highly recommend taking her for this class.
awesome teacher.awesome class.really funny and outgoing.her class was my favorite so far at state.assigns good work not busy work.cares about what you want or feel you need out of the class.very open to suggestions.very helpful.very easy but informative.
I am not the best student in English but I received a B. Really easy class. Not that many essays. Really funny. Not a lot of work at all.
AWESOME AWESOME person! A very real and honest person. Not worried about being PC. I absolutely love her views of the world and society. And if you like punk and industrial music you'll love her.
smart, crazy lady. very fun. learns your name quickly. talk to her in class. she'll like you more, and you might get a better grade. do all your assignments (which arent very many) or she'll turn against you.
Crazy but great teacher. Take her class, you won't regret it.
good teacher
Nicest lady. Makes for good conversation and likes to help one out. YOu'll only get a bad grade if you're lazy. Loved her!
Very fun and interesting, but she doesn't teach much, just talks. Kind of a hippie personality. Assignments are easy and relatively straight forward, but she changed deadlines about 10 times. Entire grade based on 4 essays + normal misc stuff...
One of the best teachers at State. Makes class fun and does not try to make students do too much. Final paper is only 5 pages.
wow i can not believe she is teaching here, she doesn't loke the students and makes the class way harder than it has to be, take another teacher if you want to pass!!!
Crazy lady! She's cool and smart though. Tough grader. But if you listen and do what she asks for, you'll be fine. You'll learn a lot!
Very good teacher. Not a hard class, but not an easy one either. Just do the work the way she wants you too. I definately recomend taking her
She is the best. Its hard to get an A. She shows you the stuff you will need to actually use in the future
Take her for IDS 396W. She may be off the wall, but she explains, grades fair, likes teaching, smiles, is not LL, and makes the class fun instead of pain. You would be crazy to take anyone but her for IDS 396W (or 290 for that matter).
she is very unclear & vague with assignments but very anal when it comes to grading. If ONE thing is missing your'e down to a C. Do NOT take her. Very IRRITATING!
GREAT TEACHER. The class is not boring at all. You will actually learn, and get something out of it. She is one of the best teachers I've ever had.
This woman is absolutely hilarious. Tons of energy. Fun class. She cares about you and your future..wants to help you. No tests, just reports. your grade is based on how complete your work is. Everything you learn is useful info.
funny lady but very vague with instruction and calendar, lots of off-topic discussion, can be crazy at times. fairly easy though...
All I can say is, this lady is a fireball in a sky of stars. Very funny, and she actually cares about her students. It's also nice to have a class with less than 500 students.
fun class. very different to other business requirement classes and professors. She's funny. her goal is for you to pass. No exams, just reports.
Awesome professor. Hilarious! First class that has actually taught me skills for the real world. She cares about you and wants you to succeed. No tests, just reports. Fun group project.
Intelligent, intellectual, incredible... tricks you into learning the material, makes you work and makes the class worthwhile! Everyone should take her class before graduating! She enlightens her students! Highly recommended!
my experience with this teacher has been one different than any other. she is a wonderful, likelable, eccentric lady, but sometimes forgets to really teach the subject in all aspects. I left things off reports due to her not going over it well enough.
Doesnt give A's. Likes to give C's. She is a nice lady and definetly entertaining but she doesnt teach and doesnt say what she expects on the reports. Doesnt teach much
i don't know man, she's kind of schizo. I tell you what, you better get on her good side because she plays favorites. shes hilarious, but careful cuz she bites. kick back class, but hard grader..reason to get on her good side.
She is a nice person, but she is crazy! She is unclear on what she wants! Expect to get a lot of C's on your papers and to not learn anything.
Even if you are her favorite you wont get a good grade!! Her grading criteria is awful!! The class is lots of fun…
does not teach. disorganized. unclear on what is expected. talk to the teacher in class for a better grade, she grades toward who she likes.
I had mixed feelings about this class. Sometimes it was easy and sometimes it wasn't. Very vague in her expectations. You learn a lot though. Recommend.
Martha is a fantastic teacher. What you take out of that class is what you put in. Very subjective grading, not an easy A... However, easy workload, write a few essays that you can go wherever you want with.
cool professor and very laid back. very helpful. 3 timed writing tests, some hw assignments, 2 group papers. pretty easy and she makes the class fun.
Martha is a great teacher that really cares for her students. I took her for both 290 and 396 and the classes are fun and entertaining, but you have to work for your grade. Highly recommended :o)
Highly recommended. She cares about her students. Has a unique style of teaching that actually works. Take her class and visit her office hours if you are having problems. If you need 396W, take her!!!
Most of the class she goes through interesting stories, and you have great conversations. If you want an easy C this is your class, but SOOOO hard to get an A. She doesn't teach much of the material, so its hard to see what she wants in the papers. I just didnt know what to do, felt helpless.C
This lady is crazy. If you ask how to write a paper, she'll tell you that she can't tell you. She doens't give more than 2 A's a semester but i dont think she gives B's either...everyone i know got a C.
impossible to get an A. Her TA grades the work so it doesn't matter if she says your work was good you will still get a C and I'm an A student. She picks her favorites (especially cute guys) so if your lucky she might like you and give you a good grade. Don't buy the book whatever she says.
TERRIBLE! DO NOT TAKE HER! Most unhelpful and worst teacher(if you could call her that) that I've ever had! At the beginning you'll think she's great, but just wait...It'll get ugly.
BEWARE OF DOG! Worked my ass off and still did terrible and I'm an A student! I think she might be Bi-Polar
Not easy. Teacher tries to make you think but not always sure what. Hard to get A, but I learned a lot. Kind of out there. Go to office hours. She'll help you.
I really liked Martha. But I was frustated about the class. I am an A student, never had a problem writing well (passed the WPA) and still do not expect more than a C on this class. I know she is not supposed to tell us what to do, but the lack of clarity really disturbs-- and kills your grade!
Martha is by far one of the most interesting profs you will have at SDSU.She gave us 3 projects that were very do-able, and you have to do 4 timed writings in class.Go to class, participate in the discussions and you will do fine. Forget the noise about not getting an A.
Fun Teacher. Class doesn't drag. Will let you go early when finished with the leason. Tough to earn an A but a B is do able.
She is an excellent teacher and a tremendous person. If you're expecting an A, be ready to work very hard. Never a dull moment. What a ride.
She is not much of a "Teacher",she mostly talks about other interesting things..And she is never clear on what she is asking for on projects which means its hard to shoot for "the" grade. Just try your VERY best (which doesn't mean its the best for her..) Get to know her.
Totally ambiguous! Not clear on anything! SHE PLAYS FAVORITES and GRADING IS UNFAIR! If you are quiet she will not like you, take her if you like out of the blue laughing fits, cause she will go into sporadic hysterics, what a waste of time!
I loved, loved , loved Martha and thought she was hilarious. On the other hand; however, I honestly thought I deserved an A and received a B, not even a B plus! Hmm!
not easy, but not hard. def a great teacher, SO random, its funny. go to every class, make sure she knows you, speak up in class, no one gets an A, but it was still a fun class. Got a B without much effort
No matter how hard you work, you wont get the grade you want. Just try and get on her good side, and favoring will come into play
This lady is weird. She doesn't give any direction in assignments. You won't get a good grade no matter how hard you try (she tells you that she doesn't give A's). Try taking this class at a community college if possible.
She was an awesome teacher! The class was challenging but worth it in the end. I would take her again. Have do to the work, but as long as you get on her good side you're good.
All I have to say is that if you want an A, you will have it if your willing to put the time and effort. If you did not get an A, you either should have asked for help or met with the teacher before hand...dont complain!! Next time, ask for help. Ms. Kennedy is always available and willing to help.
the lady is up and down. Expectations of course aren't clearly explained. Funny as hell, but at times cold. You should take the equivlant of the course at a JC.
Awsome teacher but difficult class. Writing exams are basic and don't require much more than learning structure. Projects are pretty hard but not impossible. I liked class and the teacher however I wished I got a better grade. I'll put it this way you will either love her or hate her it just depends on your personality and what you consider funny.
Kennedy was sort of like a teenage girl, she is funny and energetic, but she never really tells you exactly what she wants.
Martha is great and her class got me through the semester. Her humor and attituded always put me in a good mood. The reports can be difficult, but TALK TO HER - she helps a lot. Besides the reports, there is barely any homework. Take her, you walk away with a new perspective most classes don't provide. I would take her again in a heart beat.
Easy class, very relaxed, Martha is nuts but that's what makes the class so great! Group projects are simple, get in a group w/ people you like & the class will be fun. 3 timed writings, not bad @ all, she'll tell you what they could possibly be on. Quizes are done in groups, this class is a joke!
martha is a cool person. she is laid back and easy to talk to. during class you don't do much at all. she seems to be confusing at first but then you get why at the end and its all good. i got a B.
Very nice, funny lady. She is also very helpful if you initiate. Most difficult grader I have ever had and if you don't go for help... me. You will probably get a C.
Martha is a fine professor who is genuinely interested in sending you on your way with the writing skills that you will need in the business world. Actually, she's an advocate for her students. She warns you of dull assignments that don't turn out to be such a drag after all.
Dont take her... its that simple

The professor is very easy going. It's an easy class. She tend to get side track from teaching a lot. Filter out what she has to say for the class only. Pay real attention to the project and the timed essay. There is no real instruction on how to write. She could not help that much. Your writing should be strong when taking this class.
If you just want to pass the class and learn nothing take her class; else, take another professor. She's weird, confusing, and does not teach.
Best professor I had in SDSU. I had a great time and gained lots of knowledge. Loved her class. Thanks Martha
I'm totally convinced she's a stoner and grows weed out in east county. Overall great teacher
Worst teacher ever! Tried to ask why I got the grade I did on a project and she went off on the group in front of other students and then walked out of the classroom. Seems to play favorites, but then they don't do well in the class either. Don't debate with her you will lose and so will your grade.
NOT CLEAR!!!! THERE IS NO INSTRUCTION FOR YOUR PROJECTS!!! IF YOU WRITE A GOOD PAPER, YOU COULD GET AN A, B, C, D, or F...depending on what mood she is in.......
Martha is a witty and wise woman. Although she doesn't know it she touched my life in a profound way!!!! Amazing!!!!

Projects can be confusing. Don't wait to the last minute or you're screwed. She wants her students to do well, but you have to go to her and then she'll help a lot. I learned a lot in her class and had a good time.
not that great
Very quirky prof. Her lectures are entertaining; but you still learn a lot. Take her class if you don't mind putting in the work. One lecture she showed a pwr pt. of her frog sitting in a blender--- I told you she was quirky:)
Learn a lot of great business techniques which is why you are taking the class. Her grading is hard, but you learn a lot and she has fun with you!! Good professor!
Nice lady. Like her more as a person than a teacher. But not a bad class. Entertaining lectures. Easy going pace. You will learn something in class for a change. Unclear about what she wants from you/looking for in the papers. Grades very harshly. Miss one or two things and your down to a C. But an interesting class and passable.
Class is fun...her grading is not. You learn next to nothing in class...Get on her good side (flirt or go to office hours) and you'll do better. If you figure out how to write the way she writes then you will do fine...but more likely you won't and you'll get a C...if at all possible take someone else.
love her as a person. as a teacher, not so much.you will probably get a C+. she is ridiculously whimsical with grades. it's like "oh i feel like giving out all C's today, tomorrow perhaps a B-" it really depends on her mood and how much she likes you for the grade.
95% of lectures are waist of time. Long classes that could take 10 mins to teach information. Waists time on tangents. Very difficult to please unless you are a teachers pet (there was one!) Almost impossible to do well on paper. If you feel good about a paper you probably got a C-. The only reason to take her is because the others are worse!
I totally agree with the comment below. Very tough grader. You HAVE to go see her for all projects to do OK. You're prolly better off taking all these classes at a JC.The college of business frowns upon A's,They can't give out many..so you'll be very lucky to get one. Other than that, very amusing prof. You wont get bored in class-only good thing.
This teacher was a firecracker in a pond of slithery tadpoles. Grades are a total crapshoot. I got a B on like EVERYTHING and ended up with a C+. Easy Easy C tho, although the guy who got an A probably was dumber than me.... she has teachers pets, BE ONE OF THEM!!!
should not be teaching... lectures about everything except ids 290.. this prof. needs to be evaluated.. got the same grade on all assignments and exams as my friend but i got a c+ and he got a b-.. horrible teacher as well as a horrible dresser who always has her legs spread in front of the class.. nasty...
takes 50 minutes to explain a 10 minute topic. does not value your time and also picks favorites. tangents galore and extremely talkative. a middle-aged professor, trying to relive her hippy days. accck!
I disagree with all the prior comments. Her class is energizing and she makes the subject fun. She really wants you to learn, is always willing to help, & values creativity. Martha is one of the best professors I had & I know many others who feel the same. Class isn't unnecc. hard, but put forth effort to learn & get good grade. Inspiring person.
Frustrated a lot of the time, but when I went to her for help I got it. She wants her students to think for themselves to solve problems. It's just different than I was used to, but she will help you and you won't just get a grade, you'll learn something. Final exam was not easy.
she goes onto rate my professor to rebuttal her students' negative feedback; the positive comments about martha on rate my professors came from her!
She talks about random stuff about her life. She doesn't really talk about IDS 290 at all.The class is extremely boring and unclear. If you want a good professor take someone else.
Easy to get a C, very hard to get an A. If you ask her questions during class, she'll most likely answer you indirectly. But if you go to her office hours, she'll tell you exactly what you need to do. Very spontaneous and funny all the time.
I did not enjoy this class at all. Worked my @$$ off for a mediocre grade. She hardly ever taught! She was VERY UNCLEAR in her expectations for assignments... yet still marked you down if you didn't do what she wanted. Seems like a nice enough person... just not a good teacher! DO NOT TAKE HER if you need clear guidance on projects!
Ugh. Prof. Kennedy leads a pretty entertaining class, but once you start to think about the projects she assigns, you start to have questions. You ask, but you never get a clear answer. Trying to figure out what she wants (what gets an A) is impossible. Take another section if you can.
During Class she doesnt really talk about anything. If you want to get a decent grade go to her office hours. It seems easy, but the projects are a lot of work and she doesn't really explain it. I ended up with a B in the class.
THe reason why she answers idirectly, is because the main part of the class is finding the answer on your own, thats how the real world is and she is trying to prepare you for it. I learned the most in this class than any other! This class is the best for IDS 290 TRUST ME! Get her! Its a fun class too! I miss her joking around with her!
martha is one of the best teachers i've had here! i looked forward to going to class because it was so entertaining. some of the projects were useful and i learned a lot more than i thought i would. there's no regular homework assignments which is nice. if you like eccentric people, take her! she's a cool lady :)
one great teacher. makes ya think. entertains you. dumbs all the assignments down by practically writing your intro's(only if you ask her to help you though). Take martha, but good luck getting into the class because it fills up so quick
Martha is an EXTREMELY nice lady and genuinely cares about her students. The only issue I had with her class is that she has to have a quota for the department so its VERY difficult to get an A in her class. Not very hard to get a B, but she does give out a lot of Cs because she has to. If you can take her class.
Good teacher in a university full of bad ones. I highly recommend taking Martha if you're an IDS major. She isn't pretentious like most English instructors.
She says you need to find the answers on your own, but also says there is only one right answer, which changes depending on her crazy mood swings. She ACTUALLY said that there is only one right answer to the question, "is this ethical?". 95% of her class is random discussions about her dating life, the other 5% is info you don't need.
Great prof. She can be vague in class but it's intentional. She wants you to do well and she wants you to ask her questions- Don't blame her because you're too lazy to look something up in the book. The key to getting a good grade- Use what you already know! We've all dealt with memos, good/bad news messages even if you don't realize it.
She's CRAZY! but makes class interesting and the stuff you learn you will need later on. Ask questions, and talk to her, she'll tell you what you need. go to office hours, she'll help you out more than in class. we only used the book about the first 3 weeks of class.
I love her! She's a lot of fun and keeps the class entertained! I thought I was going to have a better grade, though. Our "timed writings" are based on what SHE thinks is correct, which is annoying, but the projects weren't too hard.
SHE IS NUTS! I love it! Martha has a ritual of showing up late for every class but it is excused because she has (had) a bum hip. Just show up everyday and talk, that is all she really wants. Maybe she is lonely? JK, but take her!!!!
I never learned so much in a class! I was a little nervous the first day becuase she's very different, but as the semester went on I learned a lot. She wants you to solve problms yourself -- but she'll help you if you ask. Fun class and I'm already using the stuff at work.
I took Martha a few years ago I took her for one english class and ended up taking her for 2 other classes. Yes she is out of it someitmes, but she's a very caring person. I hihgly recommend her class. She loves nature, and her dogs bring that up and you'll earn some points with her.
Martha is a great person, but extremely harsh grader. She is also very vague. Class is entertaining. There are timed writings. Projects are difficult. Make sure you find a good group. Send her copies of your projects as early as possible to get a better idea of what she's looking for. Even then you're not guaranteed anything.
Martha is awesome! She has a very unique approach towards teaching...and she is very knowledgable about the subject! Every assignment is counted the same. However she's a hard grader. Don't be intimidated by the syllabus and the due dates...she will likely change them. OVerall great teacher for IDS 290. Got a B in the class.
Best Professor I have taken at SDSU. She really cares about her students. Very clear and if you dont understand ask her and she'll help.
Martha is a brilliant lady with an excellent approach to teaching her classes the material. You're guaranteed to laugh at be at ease in this class. A small handful of quizzes, minimal homework, one exam (final). One of the most useful classes at SDSU. I definitely recommend taking Martha!
best ids teacher! learned a lot, really useful class. shes personable and relaxed, fun class. quizzes are graded easy, BUT grades projects unecessarily hard. Pretty much a guaranteed B, probly impossible to get an A cause grading is so off, but shes cool. Get on her good side! i dont think she really grades by points, just what she wants to give u
she is a great teacher, i got a c+ in the class and worked hard for it. take the timed writings seriously they are worth more than she says. there are two major projects that you must go after class to get explained. take her!
Great Teacher! Go to office hours for help on all the projects because she grades extremely hard if it's not set up the way she likes. Good class, you learn a lot, and very interesting.
You think this class would be an easy A the first week or so and then you start getting your grades back. This teacher is all over the place. She expects you to know what she wants without telling you! She is funny, but that is about it. I got a B- which hurt my 3.5 GPA... My best of luck to anyone who takes her unorganized unorthodox class.
Martha has a great sense of humor but to be honest, not the greatest teacher. She is EXTREMELY unclear about assignments, but IS willing to help you. I didn't like the way the class was structured and I feel like I learned absolutely nothing in this class. But an easy class if you actually go to class.
Thought professor was funny at first, but just become extremely irrelevant later on. Only way to get a good grade in class is if you are in constant communication with her (in-class especially, with random comments she might think are funny) or via RateMyProfessor (where she is very self-conscious and checks daily for negative comments). Beware.
Professor Kennedy is AWESOME! I had no prior knowledge, but learned a ton. One of the assignments you plan the coming years of your life, by far the most useful assignment I have ever done in college. Although challenging and impossible to get an A, very useful and HIGHLY recommended!
First of all, this class has a very unusual structure and unlike anything you have taken before. You interact more as peers than as a student/teacher relationship. Im not sure I liked it but she was able to get her weird examples across to us. I learned some things but I am kind of frustrated what was required for an A. Easy C but forget the A.
I kept thinking that she would be one of those teachers that frustrates the heck out of you, but you wind up taking something valuable away from it...but that never happened. I think she's a total hypocrite between what she teaches and how she acts outside of class and then how she assigns something and how she grades it. I could go on,but no space
teacher is cool. Impossible to get an A but easy to get a B. Make sure you see her in office hours about projects. Only 2 projects. Attendance is not mandatory. You use the book but not all the time. I suggest splitting the cost with a classmate.
This professor is lazy, and the class itself is a total waste of time. The only way to get a decent grade, is to kiss her butt. Instructions are vague, and the assignments have almost no real world applications. Don't buy the textbook, she barely uses it, just buy the Harvard book. If you are not an IDS major, I would suggest taking another course.
Prof Kennedy is cool. Very helpful and understanding. learned how to format important business messages, and she pretty much cut all the other unimportant crap. Only complaint is that her grading policies/ requirements are unclear, and she does not reply to student emails. Still very highly recommended.
She is very unclear with her grading and what she expects out of an assignment. classes are laid back making you think she grades easy, but she most definately doesn't. Biggest complaint is just her being unclear of what's expected for a good grade. However, she is a nice lady.
Martha is a wacky & Fun Professor. Everything you learn in the class is extremely helpful and something you will always keep with you in life and in Business. Yes, she is unclear with her projects, she leaves them open on purpose which is difficult for people who want concrete expectations. Tests are easy- Final Group Project is hard :/
FREAKING HILARIOUS LADY! CLASS LAID BACK, BUT DON'T THINK ULL BE HANDED AN A! CLASS FOR REAL LIFE, DEF APPLICABLE! ITS TRUE, SHE DOESN'T GIVE U THE ANSWER, BUT U LEARN A LOT. TESTS R SUPER EASY! 3 TIMED WRITING! FINAL PROJECT-CHOOSE GOOD STUDENTS-ASK QTNS.
Shes a wierd person. She doesn't teach you very much. I only have 8 grades, and their pretty much all little business writings. There's a final project, which isn't that hard.
Alright, like others have commented...the professor is a funny&weird, but she can be unclear. Also, she will get upset if you ask her something she expects you to know. Overall, the class is easy and somewhat applicable; but the final project is a killer. Other than that, have fun with those sundaes and cheeseburgers.
I loooved Martha Kennedy! She's super chill & funny. I really enjoyed this class because it teaches you material you're going to use in every-day life & in the future. She can be a bit unclear at times, but she's good overall. IDS was probably my favorite class last semester if i had to choose....
She was the most animated professor I've ever encountered. She takes a while to get used to. Getting an A is really not hard. Follow her formatting that she gives you, and do what she asks, and you can get an A. She expects what she wants, and if it isn't what she wants, you don't do well. But she also won't help you or else you get a C. Good Luck!
This lady is nuts. Crazy. Sometimes in a funny way, sometimes it sucks because she can be very vague and just kind of expect you to know what she wants when really, everyone is confused... I'm a good student and I found her class kind of tricky. I don't know how other 290 prof's are, but if i had to take this again I'd try someone else.
super laid back but it makes you upset for even showing up because you never do anything. we only did real work or learning 1/3 of the semester. Plus she is crazy she cracks up to her self and has no tact or professionalism. The final project was a joke very unclear.
This is by far the WORST teacher I have ever had! She does not know how to teach and I learned nothing at all. All this class is is a waste of time and money! I STRONGLY recommend NOT taking this class. She is unprofessional, unclear, and unhelpful!
MAK-DAWG is pretty much amazing. The course rigor is not high, but the things she teaches can be applied to everyday life. With her, it is all about making the vague clear on your own. She is very personable and caring. I actually looked forward to coming to this class, not just because it was stacked with beautiful girls. For IDS290, take Kennedy.
Sometimes confusing, kind of a bipolar personality but a great teacher none the less. In class writings were actually kinda hard, but learn from them and you will get a good midterm grade. Final project was kinda hard. Girls in the class were hot.
She doesn't know how to use Blackboard so you always have to estimate what your grade could be. She's a terrible explainer and has even more terrible power point slides. Definitely agree with the bipolar comment!
One word to describe this lady.. CRAZY!!! She is seriously insane. The final project was the most frustrating project I've ever had to do! It wasn't that it was hard but she did not give any directions at all whatsoever and was completely unhelpful in giving guidance. If I hear her mention the stupid "blog" one more time I think I'll shoot myself.
What a horrible professor. Just calling her a professor I think soils the occupation. Useless assignments, useless projects, and overall useless instruction from her. The Degree Audit Report was supposed to be helpful, but when you fail the whole class it defeats the purpose. Absolutely horrible. One of the worst teachers I've ever had.
shes alright, makes stupid jokes,i agree that she does get defensive when u question somethin shes said. its an alright class.
Not as bad as everyone makes her out to be. Yes, she isn't clear all the time, but people who didn't pass over-thought everything. You'll do fine if you just do what she asks and NOT over-think everything. Final project super easy compared to the other ids 290 teachers.
This was the worst class I have ever taken in my entire life and I have never been treated so poorly by a "professor." She was extremely rude and offered no help and she went at every situation very unprofessionally. Save yourself the complete agony of taking this class.
Martha was definitely a little crazy but I really enjoyed her class. She kept us on her toes with what she was going to say and do next. The class was very interesting and I have already applied what I learned into my work environment. If you are nice and ask her for help in an interested and eager to learn way, she will help. Improvement is key
Martha Kennedy has an unusual teaching style, but it is incredibly effective. At the time you are taking her class, it is frustrating, but be patient. The information I learned from her is so practical and useful in the business world! I highly recommend this class.
The decision to take this professor or not depends on your interest. I had no choice and I am taking her. She is very vague and mostly talks about her personal life in class. She provides you with clear answers for midterms, timedwritings...but she is the hardest grader. i am a 4.0 student and i currently have a low B...you learn the rough way
MARTHA ANN KENNEDY ROCKS! She is one of the funniest people you will ever meet. I don't see why people rip her to shreds. She isn't clear b/c that's how the business world is! If you are looking for an easy A, she won't give it to you. If you want a positive (and entertaining) experience, you can't go wrong with her.
If you actually want to learn something that will help you be successful in the business world and in LIFE, take her! Don't bs this woman, she knows what shes doing... even when you thin she nuts
She gave me a C on a paper after telling me it was finished and I did a good job. Her instructions are unclear and this makes it almost impossible to do what she is asking. I learned a lot in her class but it destroyed my GPA in the process. I earned a C after working as hard as I could, I recommend taking this class at Cuyucama if you can.
everything she lectures is not helpful. Her powerpoints never make sense. Her directions are horrible she tries tricking u.she is awesome at wasting ur education & money! she spazes out in class and yells randomly, shakes her head like a wet dog, pounds her fists against the table like shes a spartan& sad part is im not exaggerating.
This is the WORST teacher at SDSU. Her powerpoints are for 4th graders, she never follows her schedule, and she tells you one thing but then grades you differently. The best part is that she won't answer your e-mails if you don't write them correctly but then she doesn't write them correctly herself! What a waste of time and money.
Martha is one of the nicest teachers I've had at State. She can be a little vague about directions but is always willing to help after class and will even review resumes. The concepts learned can will actually be used in the real world. Attendance is necessary, book not needed. I've never had so much fun/laughed so much in a class before :)
-:Don't follow the schedule, vague about the assignment, unclear about the requirement, only let you whats wrong after you completed something, inefficient in using class time.+:the class is like a chatrm, no worry of being asked for randomies, she is in person very nice, even not helpful, dont need to study hard cuz effort wont help you in this class
Super frustrating class. The responses to the narratives she gives you are graded totally on her opinion. I tried to take notes on what she wanted and in what situations but she was never consistent. She's a fun teacher but a hard grader. One thing you say can either get you an A or an F on that passage.
The class is fun to attend, but her vague descriptions of what she is looking for in her assignments makes this class frustrating. She does not tell you how she is grading until after you complete the assignment. Her multiple choice questions tend to be tricky and ambiguous as well. Get the Beyond Feelings text, the other is pointless.
She shot my Gpa with this class. She makes it seem easy but its impossible to due well since she grades based on opinion. What did I really learn in the class? How to write a bad news email message? nd yeah the mc tests are tricky. She should be evaluated by the college to make sure she isnt crazy. I was expecting a B and got a C. AVOID IF POSSIBLE
I would have to agree with the other comments. She's a great person and an entertaining professor but she is extremely vague about what she wants and inconsistent when it comes to grading. I tried so hard to enjoy this class but was constantly frustrated by the grades I received.
Hard class. Seems possible at first but ended up with a C. Weird grading.
The online multiple choice tests are impossible even with the book in front of you(I got C's and D's). In the writing assignments if you don't write exactly what did in her rubric it's a C. It's an easy class that is impossible to get get a good grade. It's easy because studying and working hard do not effect your grade, making them unnecessary.
Please do not take. She constantly contradicts herself and the book. She is not clear on what she wants, and the quizzes are more confusing than they should be. She would also come to class and tell us she did not feel like teaching us that day, at least once a week. I got a B, but hated every minute.
She is a very helpful teacher, at first she may seem difficult, but if you just ask, and show up to class you will do great. I reacieved an F,D, and C but A's and B's on all the quizzes. Doing great on the tests and reading getting a solid B. She is friendly and smart. I would recommend her, Just don't buy the textbook.
She is a little nuts at first, but one of my faborite teachers at SDSU. She KNOWS what she is teaching and wants you to think critically. She is difficult but I almost got an A- just doing EXACTLY what she says. A class worth taking. BUY THE BOOK. Open book final and quizzes.
This class has nothing to do with business communication, the course is closer to philosophy than a business course. She goes by the book, but often contradicts what the author says, I would not take her if I had a choice.
She is not that bad. Very funny and a nice woman..It's possible to get a good grade IF and ONLY IF you're VERY CAREFUL about taking the quizzes and tests...Try to follow EXACTLY what she says!
she is very funny. at first the quiz were so hard i got straight up F"s. but later it going better and i got A's. She ok. but read the chapter and take notes.
Crazy. If u ask her for tips on how to do well in class/exams she will tell u not to worry about getting the grade but just 'learning'. She is nice though, but hates Frank Sinatra. She says she won't trick u on quizzes/exams, but she does. She grades hard on the timed writing exam/hws. Not terrible, but didn't love her.
Not a hard class, she is actually easy. You do need to read the book but chapters are pretty short. Weekly quizzes. She is very kind and helpful. Just ask for help after class and she is more than happy to help her students. I learned a lot of critical thinking stuff that I wouldn't have been able to learn in any other class; wish her the best.
No matter if you are an A student; you will end up getting up B or C if you work really hard. Take this class with other professors, but if you have to take with her for schedule or other reason, make sure to you have your study group. otherwise you are most likely to fail or get a C.
Would not recommend this professor, choose another if possible. Seems kind of nice and wierd but not too helpful when you ask and doesnt teach the material you need to know. Class would be less confusing if she taught everything but expects you to learn it yourself.
Prof. Kennedy looks like she has a easy class but it's not. Quizzes are very tricky so beware. Make sure you read every chapter before the quizzes. She does love trickery. With effort, you will at least get a C in he class but, she is known to fail people. Don't mess around if you take this class cause it can bite you in the end.
Martha Kennedy is a decent teacher but she can be a little confusing on what she is looking for on the projects and tests. Tricky exams. Read exam questions closely.
Taking her class currently, extremely unclear with her directions. Has already emailed the class multiple times to rant about how she is always right and not to argue with her. For someone who is teaching business communications you would expect them to be much more professional. She is most unprofessional teacher I have ever had at state.
Her hand writing is not professional
