Very eager to help her students. Very nice. BUt kinda corky. Looks like molly shannon. Always available to help. Has an odd sense of humor but just laugh along with her anyways. Hard grader. Expects very consistant work throughtout semester.
She was a nice lady, and wants to "change the world" it seems, but a difficult grader. I didn't like this class.
She is a very nice lady. She is really nice and always lets you out early. Her grading is hard but if you work hard she notices it. You never have to go to class because she rarely shows up.
Extremely nice and understanding, though also picky with the grading and doesn't seem to really follow any sort of rubric. She made a normally boring class very interesting.
Great teacher. A hard grader but gives plenty of constructive criticism to help you improve. Nice and very easy to approach. Class was always very interesting!!
she's a nice lady, and a little corky. she makes herself available for extra help for every paper. unfortunately shes a hard grader and inconsistent with what she wants
SHE'S COMPLETELY UNDERSTANDING TO A COLLEGE STUDENT'S LIFE. SHE KNOWS PPL GET SICK ETC. SHE ALLOWS YOU TO BE LATE TO CLASS WITH NO PENALTY AND TURN IN ROUGH DRAWFS LATE. SHE'S PASSIONATE ABOUT ENGLISH AND HER TEACHING STRAGEGIES ARE MOSTLY INTERACTIVE. SHE'S REALLY SUPER NICE.
Very nice lady, a pleasure to have as a proffessor and very humorous. Her grading seemed to be very fair to me: if you do what is required, you'll get a good grade. Very decent person and I wish her the best in life, if you have to take a writing class, take this one!
Not bad I'm like the worst writer in the world and i got a B take her if you can
She's very nice, but she's too quiet and doesn't really try to make learning fun. Her grading is hard, but if you're a good writer and english is your passion, you'll do fine in her class. GOOD LUCK!
EASIEST CLASS I HAVE EVER TAKEN. BARELY WENT TO CLASS AND GOT AN A.
her class is a joke. if you disagree... you are a pathetic writer! bahaha... no seriously... it's ridiculously easy... i like it! haha.
class is a joke. The reading material does not stimulate any thought and is the same mindless straitforward crap that i've been reading for the last 14 years.....didnt go to class for the most part, got easy A's on all the assignments but hated every minute spent in classes. Good class if you're a complete idiot, or mentally retarded.
She's a nice person if you talk to her one on one (after class or in office hours). She just isn't good at lecturing. She sounds nervous and unsure of herself when she lectures. It makes her seem like she doesn't know what she's talking about and its hard to learn from someone you can't believe. Class is easy though, I barely went and got an A-.
Very nice, helpful and easy-going teacher. She has somewhat of a great sense of humor. The course content is boring--so don't blame her. But overall, she's very knowledgeable when it comes to the English subject although her spelling skills aren't as strong. But hey, we all have our weaknesses!
she's really easy, essay topics not that bad. interesting to me, but class was a waste of time. i could have written my introduction at home without her help. so i could have gotten an A in the class, but because i didnt show up to class, she gave me a B. During her lectures, she's very monotoned and a bore.
i took this class as a freshman and found it easy. class is boring because she never actually teaches u anything. A LOT of peer editing and group work in class. essay are pretty easy but the readings are boring. you spend a lot of time on each reading. she loves when you ask for her help. listen to her advice and you will do fine
One of the best writing teachers I've ever had. The work may seem like busy work but in the end it helps out a lot. Three essays, one in-class timed writing, one group presentation, and NO FINAL. She says going to class isn't mandatory but it does help you out. EASY A, TAKE THIS CLASS!
Fairly easy grader. NO FINAL. Only papers. Four project papers. Classroom activity is mandatory. She is willing to help anyone who needs it. Straightforward what she wants on her papers. I recommend her.
Pretty easy teacher. Easy topics pretty easy as well. She knows what she wants and doesn't always explain exactly what it is. If you ask her questions she will explain it though. I recommend taking her though. Pretty easy...
Very nice, throws in a few jokes here and there. Makes assignments managable to circumstances. Essays had to be 4 page min, not that bad. Really tries to instill english into her students.
Excellent teacher!! She also has research days where there is no class, It's simply just own your own researching and prep for assignments.Take her if you enjoy writing. If you don't like writing papers DONT TAKE HER!
Professor Kinkade is the best! Definetely take her if you are like me and dreading to take RWS305W, she makes the class very interesting and bareable. 4 projects and let's you revise some, no quizzes, no finals. She is very helpful and a great lady all around, very funny and simply a delight. Take her! Take her! I got an A!
nice teacher. gives out manageable work. a few essay, like 4, no final. makes good attempts to engage and help students.
Go to office hours and she will tell you what she wants to read and thus you will recieve an A
she's very nice and the class was very easy. There's only 4 projects, but only one of those are considered to be a real essay. She always let the class out early and there are always "research days" throughout the semester where there's no class. I recommend taking her.
This class was very helpful and the essays were useful and interesting. the teacher is really nice, just make a good first impression and it will help everyone.
Prof. K is alright, she misses class more than her students. She has research days where you can come for help, she tries hard to help her students learn. She funny but kinda ditzy at the same time. Theres 4 projects and no final.
Super easy class. The tutoring part sucks but it will help you in the end. She is very helpful if you ask or go to her office hours. Overall it should be an easy A if you like writing.
This class is an EASY A if you are a good writer, easy B if not. 4 papers and NO final. Minimal HW but tutoring component is required. She is kinda unclear with her prompts but if you ask for clarification she will help you out. I would recommend this class!!
Teacher is very sweet and understanding. Attendance is mandatory. overall grading was fairly easy probably because your always questioning what the topic is. Do the reading, go to class, easy B
She is nice but a bit of a space case. Her prompts are very vague and confusing. However, if you go in to her office hours she will tell you exactly what you need to get a good grade. Attendance is mandatory but she rarely holds class the entirety of its length.
Summer class was an easy B+, if not A. Activities points will knock grade down if you miss class. I found her attractive so she kept my attention. She can appear spacey, but listen closely and you'll realize she is a deep thinker, philosophical romanticist. From her lectures, she leans more on the feminist side but nevertheless a good professor.
Good teacher. Kind of leaves it up to you to do your work. But if you need help she is always more than willing to do it. You really learn how to write in this class, but it's not particularly head. She's fairly hot too so take it if you can.
DO NOT take this professor if you are actually interested in learning. Her class is useless, she is VERY unclear and on top of it a hard grader. I got an A but I had to fight with her for it. She goes off into her own world and no one understands what she is talking about. VERY BAD!
Super nice teacher. Had her for 200 and she is really helpful if you make the effort. She's pretty hot too which makes going to class easier. Take her if you can.
She was alright. Her explanations for essays were unclear and she seemed unmotivated in teaching at times. Monotone voice. Easy though.
BORING! She's a horrible teacher yet she expects you to be a great writer. Most of the class got C's on their papers, you work in little groups and you will learn that "I kicked the dog" is a simple sentence. Lame! She's also strict on attendance but she's absent all the time.
I'm a good writer so I thought the class was easy. but it was frustrating because she refused to give anything above an A- but was not clear on how to improve. I think she just didnt want to give anyone an A. I got an A- on everything. But if you are looking to improve your writing look else where class is a waste of time. I didn't learn anything
Class was super easy. Shes very passionate about writting, almost alittle too passionate but shes very helpful if you need it.
Class was super easy! Two take-home papers and two in-class papers. Weekly HW takes fifteen min - write something on discussion board. Easy grader! She made me have confidence in my writing! Love her!
Very easy class although not a fun class at all. Only went to class because she takes attendance. 4 papers all were about obesity and super easy. I got a B+ and i bs'd almost all the papers.
This teacher is very easy but her class is hell. She has no structure or organization. She does not actually read your papers she skims them for transition words. I received a B+ in the class but it was a miserable experience getting that grade.
Had her in the Fall of '09 and thought her class was fairly easy. I got an A- that I had to put some effort into. Class was mandatory. I thought she was attractive so that made the class more fun :) She is a little spcy but the class overall is not hard at all.
Fairly easy class. Did 3 papers and a group presentation. Got good grades on them all. Make sure your papers are organized. Class gets boring and you don't do much in class, but you have to go or your grade will eventually start suffering. But overall, easy class to pass.
This is a good class and i would suggest taking her as your teacher. I received a B+ in the class but easily could have gotten an A- with a little bit more effort. If you have a question you can talk to her after class and she will help you out! She isn't very clear so you might need to do this multiple times. Overall a great but boring professor.
seems like modern day hippy, all topics revolve around saving the environment. She rambles on alot. Prompts are unclear. Doesn't help unless you go to office hours. Only grades 3 essays and a final. She's very picky on essays, I barely got a B on a paper I worked my but off of for hours. Don't reccomend this class
Kinkade is a bit of a funny one. She's very friendly, but can ramble often. There are 3 essays (and no final), all having to do with environmentalism, although the readings contain mostly propaganda rather than actual facts. She's basically a textbook liberal in every way. Still a fairly easy class, although she is somewhat of a picky grader.
She is boring and never cares to clarify what her prompts are actually asking for! Your whole grade is based off of 4 papers (the last one being the final) and EVERY paper has been a struggle purely because the prompts were so ambiguous and were never explained properly by her. Awful learning experience. There are way better professors than here...
This class is easy if you know how to write essays..she does give you an outline of how she wants your essays! She isn't the best professor but she was passionate...She likes to rant a lot. But pretty easy class if you attend and do what she asks.
This class was so easy its very basic. The ambiguous topics make it easy to bs anything, I literally wrote my essay a day or two before it was due and always got B's and A's. Best of all just go the days essays are due and the day prompts are assigned it your good. The final was a "reflection" on the class, easy as pie, grade booster!!
I was scared going into this class because my friend told me she was crazy. She is a little crazy, but she's so funny and quirky, but in a good way. There are only 4 essays for the entire semester and I got an A on all 4. If you need help with an essay, she's very easy to talk to and will help you formulate your ideas. overall an east class.
This is a very easy class and she does activities that help your essay. Easy easy.
Her class was easy. I am not a very good writer and I got a B, but she gave me a B- because I missed more than 4 classes even thought I talked to her and told her it was for medical reasons and also it was only 5 classes that I missed. She makes you buy a book of poems that she wrote, and let me tell you, this woman is sick. AVOID THIS CLASS!
Professor Kinkade is weird, in a good way. she is fun and is really passionate about what she teaches. There are only 4 essay in the semester and if you need help, she is always there. You can always peer review your papers a week before the actual essay is due. Totally recommend taking this class.
Kinkade is great! She is a little odd but that makes her unique and interesting! You can't miss more than 4 days and there are 4 papers. Just come to class and work on your paper little by little and you will be fine! Her book of poems were powerful and tells her story and I now appreciate her weirdness more!
Essay topics are very vague. Professor does a poor job at explaining the material. Professor is a rather sad girl, but you'll be able to see why from her poems. I don't feel I got my money's worth from this class:(
I thought her final exam was WAY to long. it was 4 12 hours which included writing 3 essays in the final. I thought that was a little extreme. Also does not give a lot of feed back during the course. I would of liked to know more where I could of improved as a student in her class.
Little did I know that this class was pretty challenging and boring. Classroom sessions are long and boring, making you fall asleep. You write 4 essays and the topics are Hippie type peace and stuff. She has an awkward alcohol humor and her poem book is really sad, depicting her life. Don't expect to get an easy and smooth A.
This was not an easy class by any means. There were only 4 writing assignments, but we spent weeks working on them in class and would start an assignment the day one was due. She has an interesting alcohol humor that she discusses every class. Ask her to read over your essays before they are due if you want a good grade.
She makes you buy a book of poetry that she wrote herself, and her poems are pretty weird and gruesome. Then you have to write an essay on your opinion of her poetry... Her prompts can be very confusing and although she is always wiling to offer her help, it's hard to understand what she wants.
Her prompts are vague as hell. If you want a good grade, you better go to office hours and shell tell you what she wants. Class is boring. We mostly discussed the readings and she sums them up very well so you don't even have to read them.
Kinkade is great! The class was a bit challenging and the readings were confusing but I went to her office hours a lot and she really helped me organize my thoughts! She is straight forward and awkward, but she is so sweet and passionate. She is very unique and I liked the fact that we read poems about her life. They were very sad but interesting.
Her lectures are very long and boring. The topics you are suppose to write about are confusing but you get a better understanding after the 3rd lecture because she is very repetitive and explains things better after a while. She is very helpful if you talk to her after class + she has a TA. Do all the DB and peer reviews those are extra points.
Kinkades pretty goofy, i was stoked on that. too bad she molds the students to write a certain, her way. i felt like i was graded against my own ability bc i did so well on the first essay and not her rubric or against the other students like she said she would. this class is not hard at all. just write the essays and dont be a dumbass. ull pass
I believe she gave multiple chances for Extra Credit, not that you would need it in this class. All the papers revolved around you and if you can't write a decent paper about yourself than I don't know who can. Easy A
Her tests can be pretty specific but if you take notes during her lectures even though are hard to follow at times, you'll do fine and she gives a very specific study guide. She gives so much extra credit, I don't even know how you could not get an A from just the extra credit. She is so sweet and passionate about this subject!!!
Professor Kinkade is honestly amazing! She is always there for her students and is very helpful during office hours. Some of the books that she makes you buy aren't necessary, so only buy the Course Reader. Your grade consists of four essays that she grades very fairly and simple online discussions. Overall it was a great class.
I love her as an English professor! This was my second semester taking her and I got an A in both of them. Easy A, and also a requirement!
Positive: She would not leave you until she felt like you have a better understanding of assignment. She would usually show an example of a satisfactory essay from a past student. Negative: I felt like she did not develop me as a writer - instead of looking for points to add for good parts of an essay, she looks to deduct.
Took her for RWS200 and it was not the easiest class. Essay topics and readings are super confusing. Very specific in how she wants her essays. If you put forth a good amount of effort into the essays you'll pass. There's 4 essays and she doesn't give much feedback on them besides "good topic sentence" and "good point." Also a little rude.
She is very kind, and you get to know her backstory when you read from the book you have to purchase for the class. She grades pretty generously as long as you try. Show up to lectures because she takes attendance randomly. Some prompts were unclear but if you ask her, she'll basically give you the topic for your paper.
GO TO OFFICE HOURS. she lets you record and she pretty much tells you what to write on the papers. Way more clear in office hours than in class. 4 essays which make up 80% of the grade, the rest is online discussion posts and participation. Takes attendance and is kinda awk but you get used to it.
She is not clearly about her grade especially for the essay. She didn't review your test then ask you to submit the revision. Even you write as the task papers but she still give you lower grade if you are not show up for the tutoring time. Her lecture is boring and she random take attendance, make sure to come to class before the essay due
She is the most passionate professor at SDSU! I will never forget her! She's a warm hearted caring person who understands how hard it is to be student during finals week!
VERY PASSIONATE
She cares a lot about her students and will offer help if you ask her. Her class is fairly interesting. 4 major papers, one of which was a group project. The class is good overall and you will do well if you read the course reader and understand what you need to write about.
If you go for help, she's quite helpful. At times it may just get confusing to understand what she wants per essay (four in total), but if you follow what she exactly says needs to be graded then you'll be okay.
I. LOVE. MARTHA. Though Kinkade uses much more difficult pieces of literature than many of the other professors, she really will help you understand them and encourages collaboration. A tip for the class is to be a good classmate and actually give feedback and participate in your groups.
This class is definitely not an easy A, but it is possible. Make sure to go to the live online class meetings; it's super helpful because she'll discuss exactly what she's looking for in the assignments and you can ask specific questions. Stay on top of all the assignments because anything missed can hurt your grade (every point counts).
Quirky and very sweet. You'll get the best help from her by asking questions outside of class in her office hours. She outlined and revised my outline for the essays, so I got A's and B's on all of them. Dedicate time and effort to the essays and you'll be golden!
Awesome professor! Writing and essays (especially rhetoric) can be difficult for some people, but she makes it fun and easy to understand! The rubrics are very clear, and she shares examples so you can get an idea of what an "A" paper looks like. There are 4 essays and several discussion boards. There are also peer reviews so you do feedback!
The assignments were very relevant and actually help your future. You create a student profile, write a report on the school you want to attend or the job you want, create a resume and cover letter, and then a visual argument brochure or powerpoint. Some discussion boards, no real big essays, no tests. Some small assignments. Overall good class
Easy pass, but not easy A. If you want to develop your writing, you need to go see her personally, because she will not explain the grade she gives you. Assignments are easy, but unless you have a great peer review, you will not end up changing your work very much. She will show work up in front of the class and be very nitpicky with her feedback.
May as well take the class credit no credit unless you are fine with a B. You won't get an A unless you reallllyyy put effort into the assignments. She never likes to give full points on assignments unless you wow her. Group projects so choose your group wisely.
You definitely have to go the extra mile to get an A. I never watched any of her lectures and she realized this once I submitted an assignment without the correct format (example was in her lecture) and she pointed that out to me every single time after that. I got A's on everything except that one assignment and got a 88% which was sadly only a B+
Professor Kinkade is pretty laid back. There were 5 modules and one group project, but everything was graded pretty easily. If you follow the grading rubric, you'll get an A. She is also super friendly and made sure we were all on the same page before moving onto a different assignment.
Ever have too much time on your hands? Look no further. So much busy work it's insane. Nothing too difficult. Just incredibly time-consuming and unnecessary.
I dont recommend her. U can pass this course easier with other professors. Too much work and whatever u write she always has a negative comment on your writings. Its Really hard to get a good grade in her class because she is very strict and hard grader. Take with another professor dont buy stress for yourself.
Honestly, there's really not much work as others are saying. 5 units, 1st unit self introduction(write about urself EASY) 2nd research a company write about that, 3rd unit rsume/Cover letter, 4th unit visual assignment, 5th unit a reflection of the class essay. Im taking class CR/Ncr so maybe I feel differently, but so easy. She grades avg/easy
The summer class is structured as a MWF class, so expect to do an assignment each of these days. But if you set out 50 minutes out every MWF like an in-person class you'll be good to go. Only 5 "major" projects that are fairly easy. Pretty clear how to make an A based on the prompts.
My class was online so I didnt meet her in person but based on my experience I can say she is a nice person, strict on grading and her class has too many homework and they are really unnecessary and time consuming. So If u can find an easier professor.
Class is easy if you complete all blog posts/ essays. Only issue is that she does not give enough time to complete some assignments. Also she will NOT give 100% on anything. She is such a tough grader even if you follow all rules and the rubric. Take a different professor. So annoying.
Structure of class is odd with modules filled with little assignments leading up to one large HW for each module. Rarely did we receive full credit for HW but poor feedback made it difficult to fix next time. Easy class overall with resume/cover letter building before job apps but weird structure
