Very fair nice lady. Not alot of homework. Hard tests/quizes. VERY helpful and CLEAR.

Very clear in what she wants; willing to help students on her own time. Many chances to do well in this class.

She is one of the best professors I have had in a long time. She is clear and helpful. She sets out her expectations up front - no surprises. You know what she is looking for unlike most professors. I recommend taking her class.

kinda boring... takes up every last second of the class time.. i hated the homeworks.. kinney herself is a great professor though.. this class just wasnt for me.. if your not into western civ, like me well... have fun. lol

Her motto is "no surprises," and I found I learned more only having to put together what was of most significance. You will learn a lot, if you do the assignments.

Honors class is excellent! The best professor I've had at Suffolk - Kinney is consistent, lectures are interesting. No surprises - A challenging load of reading/writing, and class discussions (done in a socratic method sort of way) count for a percentage of your grade. You'll learn a lot, but as always, if you do the assignments.

Great Prof Highly recommend Really knows her stuff and puts a lot of effort into getting her lesson across. Moderate amount of fairly difficult work. Work might take a few weeks to get used to, however she only counts the top 8 homeworks out of 15 or so. Whats really good is that the work really helps you to understand the material.

Great professor. She makes you want to learn the stuff. You have to work hard, she puts the onus of being prepared and studied on you, but she makes history interesting and you don't mind doing the work. The two papers for the class are hard but not impossible.

Very nice professor. Class was hard as hell. I was not prepared for such a workload - a paper every week, huge midterm and final papers, and the book study guide...ridiculous. I did learn a lot though, so I guess that was the point. Just make sure you prepare yourself mentally for all that work.

Great professor, hard honors class! Quizzes and short papers every week, and 8 page midterm, 8 page final. Kinda hard grader, but gives many opportunities to do well. You gotta be ready to do some serious workload though!

She is very nice and gets alot of extra credit. but she gives alot of work essays every week and online quizes every week which are pretty difficult if u dont read the textbooks must take alot of notes and be prepared but she gives u a cheat sheet for the tests

She gives lots of work - response papers and quizzes every week, three book analysis papers, and a comprehensive midterm and final. She also only takes a certain amount of grades. The key to surviving this class is to find a trustworthy friend and split the workload. She will definitely prepare you for a tough four year college. Good luck!

Gives a lot of work- weekly quizzes and HW. Textbooks are mandatory, but you actually use them. She counts the top 10 homeworks and quizzes and you can have a cheat sheet for the tests- make sure you take advantage of that. Class is extremely boring, although she does know a lot. Easy if you do the work. She also gives you 5 absences.

I would have my friends over ALL NIGHT to do her homework. Grown-ass men would break down crying doing her work. Way too much expected of her students, don't take this class if you ever plan on sleeping ever again. Ever.

Ok...honestly, this class is A LOT of work. Weekly quizes and papers. Plus 3 book analysis papers spread over the semester and a midterm and a final. She doesn't treat u like a highschool student. If you want an easy pass class this is not for you. You NEED to do the hw she assigns or else ur screwed.She's really nice though...just a tad boring.

Prof. Kinney was one of the most challenging professors I have ever had - her Hon. class is on steroids! She is extremely helpful and provides great feedback b/c she genuinely wants you to succeed. If you enjoy learning, want to improve your writing skills, and don't mind accountability & hard work; I encourage you to take this class!

I took professor kinney's 3 hour history class she keeps you alert by randomly calling on you, gives a lot of work weekly hw and quizzes tests were allowed a cheat sheet, do NOT copy anything from book or computer she will give you a zero. Other then that she's nice.

I LOVED THIS TEACHER i thought she was amazing at lecturing, always making sure her students are paying attention. This class is really hard though, ALOT of homework, and DO NOT CHEAT. I might of got a D in the class because of it but she didn't throw me under the bus. I really think shes an amazing teacher but she will catch you plagiarizing.

Good and kind professor. LOTS and LOTS of work required in order to just pass or do fairly well. Keeps your interest but the class is harder then its meant to be. No easy way out. You will learn a lot though.

Online class required a lot of work but worth it. Found myself learning more than I had for any other online class and even many in campus courses. Professor Kinney is available and helpful in the learning process. Weekly readings, postings and a 6 page paper. Weekly quizzes are easy with textbook in hand.

There was a lot of reading to do but I learned a lot, and it was expected considering the course covers a lot. Even though it is not an easy A she does give extra credit for participating, drops lowest grade from hw and quiz and allowed more than 3 absences. I recommend for those who go to class to gain knowledge, while working on their degree.

She is a GREAT professor and I highly recommend her. Lots of hw. The assignments are the same every week so it turns into a habit and turns easy... until the last month where you have to read 2 books which is my biggest issue. Made me very interested in new points of view of history! love the textbook. hate the books.

Ms. Kinney is an excellent professor. She encourages students to ask the right questions and to be able to support that answer. I felt honored to learn from a veteran of the armed services as well. Weekly homework assignments are due and 2-3 big papers so be prepared to do work and discuess it. Loves Ms. Kinney

Loved her and the class! She is a really interesting professor. Just a note to the wary (and soon to be weary) - you have homework due every single week, and it takes probably about a day to complete. Plan out your time for this class early! Very text heavy, and then we discuss in class. Be prepared and you'll love this class!

very nice professor. she's caring explains assignments thoroughly. But be prepared for papers and homework's every week that take 1-2 hours.

Prof. Kinney is by far one of my fav instructors. I am currently in her class. Everyone is complaining about all the work but this is college! There is so much to cover with religion if you are not interested don't take this class. She will call on you so just read, do your HW, and the papers will come easy. Highly recommended if u want to learn.

This professor prepares you for the academic world. She is very caring. Her class is tailored to make you learn. I wish more teachers took the time to be as professional as she is. Loved this class. Yes, you will have to work. This is college.

I had Professor Kinney for His 101 online. Everything mentioned in other posts are correct and this course will be extremely rigorous. Eventually you just develop a repetitive rhythm for it, don't take a brake or you will lose it. I succeeded in this course at great cost to my Biology grade. You can get a good grade if you prioritize this course.

Proffessor Kinney was my favorite. She is really smart and makes you understand the material. However, she gives a lot of homework and you will be reading a lot and having 3 papers. Remember this is college and she is really helpful. Her tests and quizzes are online and are easy. I would recomend her

Interesting professor but difficult class. She really tries to help her students as much as she could. Answer her questions correctly and youll receive extra points at the end of the semester.

Shes an alright professor. It looks like she worries about her students, but she gives so much homework. It stresses you out real bad. I wouldnt recommend her if you are taking a lot of classes due to the amount of homework she gives. Had a 5 page essay midterm for her and she gave out another essay that was due the week after the midterm one.

Great teacher for online, first online class ever and I liked it. You can skim through the reading and find the answers to w.e questions needed. She drops 2 lowest test grades, 1 essay and 2 discussion questions. You must sign on 3 times a week and respond to 3 classmates a week.

Prof Kinney holds amazing lectures but is not very considerate of students taking other courses. She had a 5 page midterm and homeworks every week + quizzes. The class material is very interesting, but just make sure youre on top of your work. It is A LOT. Personally, the workload was just too much for me as a full time student..

Many of the reviews here are based in truth - she gives lots of assignments and expects them to be completed at college level. This is a good thing. Many community college students need this challenge to prepare them for a more rigorous 4 year university. If that is what you're looking for, take her class. If you just want to pass, keep scrolling.
