I don't know what the above people are talking about, but Martha is the BEST Math teacher....ever! She is very thorough and teaches a variety of methods to understand the material. This class was a breeze :)

awesome teacher. she will explain it more than one way so you get it. she is available all the time for questions. she grades by giving you points for what you DID do even if your wrong. She is good. I went from an F to B after I took her class. Thanks Martha.

she is good. I liked her. I hate math and didnt have any since 1982. I was able to get a B in her class in Both math 50 and 60. she is good.

Daily quizzes equal 15% of total grade. You can succeed with her if you (1) read the textbook and (2) complete the homework. Gives study guides for tests and spends a class reviewing. I didn't visit during office hours, but I DID spend about 30 mins. before each class in the math lab, making sure all my questions were answered before class began.

DIRECT AND TO THE POINT. HARD QUIZES BUT IF YOU STUDY AND STAY ON IT PASS! I DID THE HOMEWORKS AND PASSED MY QUIZES...GOT AN "A" IN THE CLASS, SHE'S HELPFUL IF YOU ASK.

She speaks with a thick accent so at times it can be difficult to understand her, but the class is easy. There are quizzes everyday, but as long as you do your homework it's fine. I went in to talk to her about a test and she was very helpful in explaining everything. She's very particular about how work is shown, but if you adjust it's fine.

Honestly, everbody who has posted here is hating. Before this teacher, I sucked at math. Martha Martinez far outshines all teachers I've ever had before. If it wasn't for her, I'd of never understood word problems. She will explain everything to you if you ask, and she doesn't ask for your homework. She does give out quizzes everyday though.

Ms. Martinez was a great teacher. She taught in a way that makes you understand not only 1 way, but other ways you might have known - though always seems to teach the easiest way to possibly understand. She was always very nice and polite and always had a willingness to help. Daily quizzes to make sure you're on top of your game.

What she gives you in the notes are exactly what's going to be on the quizzes and tests. She even gives you a study guide for all the tests. She's so nice and really helpful.

I had her for Math 50 and 110. She is picky, but she is great. I hadn't been to school in 18 years when I took Math 50 and she was so helpful. She does give a lot of quizzes, but you have to know the material to pass the class. I hate math and I got an A in both classes.

Mrs. Martinez is a great Calculus teacher and she is always willing to help. If you do the practice problems from the H.W, you will definitely excel in this class. It's nice to see a teacher will a huge smile like her everyday.

REALLY REALLY REALLY GOOD...I TOOK HER FOR MATH 140 AND WANT TO FINISH WHOLE CALCULUS WITH HER IF SHE'S TEACHING!!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.. IF YOU REALLY WANTS TO LEARN THE CONCEPTS OF CALCULUS..AND ENJOY DOING STUDY EVERYDAY...TAKE HER.

Had her during the summer, very fast paced but gives fair warning ahead a time to drop if you are at a certain level. try to keep up cause its easy to get lost. do the homework if you get lost at all. shes very particular about her tests and quizes as far as information and details. other then that shes an amazing teacher i loved her :)

I was terrified to take College Algebra and at first I was definitely not making it, but then I stuck with it and attended her office hours. On multiple occasions there were about five people crammed into her little office asking for help and helping each other. She grades by step and ends up with a score that way, but still gave almost full credit

Martha Martinez is the first professor that has helped me understand math. She is kind and understanding. Yes, she works quickly and does daily quizzes, but if you go to class, pay attention and ask questions, it's not a tough class. I have never recieved higher then a D in a math class and I got a B+!

She is one of my top math prof at Palomar. I was afraid at first because of all the low ratings, but they are all wrong! She wants you to succeed and I felt well prepared for every exam. Visit in her office hrs if you need help. She will go out of her way to help you. I was so crushed I couldn't take her for Calc2. I loved this class.

She gives you a quiz every class,but that is the only way I was ready for the tests. I would take her again just because she dosen't let you fall by the side and be unprepared for the tests and final. Always gives a study guide for tests and the final. Just ask for help and she will stay after to help.

Martha is an exellent instructor. To be honest, I had trouble hearing her over all the complaints from other students. She gives clear instruction and even created a cheaper and easy to understand text book. Quick and easy, take her.

She is a really great teacher. The quizzes are a bit annoying but you still need to do them to get at least a C, even if you do bad on tests. She does try and help every student and spends about 20 min going over homework before class, and before tests. She'll answer any question and stay behind if you need help.

She sometimes makes mistakes in what she's teaching, but quickly corrects herself. She has daily quizzes, which are VERY helpful, and similar (if not exact) problems tend to show up on the tests. Do the homework, study for the quizzes, and it'll be an easy A. She is very caring and very helpful if you need help inside and outside class.

Daily quizzes. This teacher cares for her students and will help you any way she can. As long as you study and keep up with the homework, you'll do fine. She gives practice exams before tests which were very helpful. She's there to help you, not hurt you. Good professor, don't listen to any of the negative ratings.

She is easier than some of the other teachers, but the class is not easy. She is there for you before and after class (schedule permitting) and will help you if you ask questions. I was worried by the negative reviews, but they were unfounded. She's a great teacher, but you have to do the work too.

daily quizzes. very nice professor. very helpful too. the ratings about her don't do her justice. she's not bad at all. her teaching methods aren't the best in the world tho BUT a handful of my classmates and i stopped by her office an hour before every test and she would literally tutor us until class started. extremely dedicated to her students.

She turned out to be a great teacher. Math in general is a hard subject to grasp... well at least for me it is, but still go an A, not an easy one though. So if you are going to take this course be prepared to do some hard work, or else you will find your self posting what a "horrible" teacher she is.

Professor Martinez is a really nice person and has good intentions, but she's not the best lecturer. However, pay attention, do your homework (it's not graded), ask if you have questions and you'll be fine!

I actually liked her math class. I felt like I understood math for the first time. I didn't like her daily quizzes but they definitely made me learn more because she goes through all the answers afterwards.

Professor Martinez is very knowledgeable. Her class is fast paced and can only imagine her teaching a summer course .. You better be prepared to grab the bull by the horns and still study a lot. Sometimes the lectures are a little unclear but she will be happy to explain and clarify if you just ask. Your grade is made up of daily quizzes and tests, and there is an extra credit problem on each test. The homework is not for a grade but you will not pass without it... and there is a LOT off homework.

Extremely nice and caring professor. If you are bad at math to begin with, do not blame it on her, because she does everything in her power to make the lectures easy to understand and easy to practice. If you truly pay attention and do the work, the class is easily passable. Would definitely recommend her as a teacher.

I'm not sure why this teacher has so many negative reviews. Her lectures are a little fast paced, but she makes time to explain any question you have as clear as possible. She clearly cares about her class and always has a positive attitude. The every day quizzes aren't so bad, but the tests can be tough though so study hard for them. Great teacher

Daily quizzes but she doesn't collect homework. She is very helpful and understands the material very well and will bend over backwards for you. She never rushes and answers all your questions before the quiz. i would recommend taking her.

I took her for Trig and loved the class. It was very fast paced and we had a quiz every class. I would ace every quiz as long as I did the homework. She is a picky grader, although I highly recommend her. She answered every question and helped me understand everything

Martinez is great. Trig is a hard subject and she does her very best to make sure students understand what she is teaching. I struggled the entire semester and every time I went to her she was happy to help/clarify. Quiz every class on the homework, no homework is collected. She grades tough but trig is specific, comes with the territory. Take Her!

Show up, do the homework, and study daily. Daily quiz- except exam days. Drops 3 lowest quizzes. Four exams and a final. Practice exams are VERY similar to real exams. It's crazy how easy the exams are if you do the practice. Extra credit every exam. Lots of material to cover, so the class is fast paced. Lectures are good.

Great professor overall. You have daily quizzes but they are homework problems that can be done in 10 mins. Do the homework and ask any questions! She is always happy to help!

Discrete Mathematics with was one of the easiest classes I've taken. There are quizzes daily unless there's an exam, she drops 3 of the lowest scores, and for the exams all you have to do is study the quizzes because they're so similar. Homework is not graded, thankfully, as I didn't do one assignment all semester. Extra Credit Opportunities also!

Had prof. Martinez for discrete math. She tries her best and she really does care about her students. You need to work for that A in her class and you need to get out of your comfort zone and ask questions if there is something you don't understand. She is the kind of teacher that enjoys learning from her students if she happens to make a mistake.

Took her for discrete, she had never taught it before, and it was a disaster. She took so long answering questions at the beginning of class that she would only have 15 minutes to lecture, so there would be even more questions the next day. She skipped whole sections & would often be plain wrong! Tests were easy, quiz everyday. Gave extra credit.

Martha is the sweetest math teacher I have ever had, she is so nice and really makes herself available for her students. And will give you opportunities for extra credit for going to events(non math). I wish I could take her for Calc next semester but I have to hop schools! :(

Prof Martinez is a kind and caring lady. She knows the material very well and explains problems step-by-step. She is accessible outside of class and truly wants to see her students succeed. There are daily quizzes( 3 problems) but she tells you what exactly will be on them and reviews hw in class. She encourages to ask people around you for help.

Just do the homework she assigns you and youll do great!

Super good at being able to explain things so you understand, brings food & chocolate sometimes too. Very approachable when asking for help. 4 tests, a final, but there are take home quizzes everyday.

I took her class for two different classes. If you have any questions, she will make sure to explain as much as she can. There are usually four tests throughout the semester and lots of easy quizzes. You have to keep up or you won't pass but overall you learn a lot and are prepared for the next math class. I enjoyed her teaching style.

Mrs. Martinez is an old school prof who really cares about her students. Her class isn't easy, but hey, it's math. Do what she tell you to do, and you'll pass no problem.

Professor Martinez is an AWESOME instructor. I'm currently in the last week of her 6-week summer trig class and it honestly hasn't been that difficult at all, I've just studied a lot. Don't let these other posts dissuade you, they're probably from students who were constantly on their phone during lecture.

Professor Martinez does a good job of teaching the material, although her class can feel a bit fast paced and you don't want to fall behind. If you have questions, make sure to get them answered, as it can be easy to fall behind.

Professor Martinez runs a challenging but rewarding class. Stay on top of the material, use the textbook, and try out unstuck study - it really helped with my study prep. Overall, a tough but valuable course.
