mr. Bredeck is a horrible teacher. He doesn't explain things clearly and he teaches the wrong way, like showing what not to do first, then showing you the right way. Every teacher knows not to do that. he got mad at us one day because he multiplied something wrong and we pointed it out. Even after we got out our calculators, he didn't believe us.

The worst teacher I had at NOVA. He can't teach, if you have any chance in passing the class you must teach yourself. I did an extra credit project to boost my grade and when I handed it in he completely destroyed it and gave me no credit! I have no respect for him and if you want to learn and pass math, I recommend not taking him.

This teacher tends to teach us materials for the last 5 mins of class and gives us lots of homework to do. I simply don't understand the hw considering the fact that he does not spend time teaching us the material properly.

This professor is the worst professor I have ever had at NOVA. It was his first semester teaching Calculus and it definitly showed. his test were hard as hell, quiz every class, if you aren't in class you will miss alot and you have to really read the book because he doesnt go over some of the stuff in the book that is in the test. DO NOT TAKE HIM

This guy cannot teach for anything. He gives us quizzes every class then picks one person in the group he assigned us to and we all get his or her grade. If we asked him a question he acted as if we were incompetent. No calculators were allowed..!? which was ridiculous. Don't take this guy if you want to pass.. it won't happen.

Nice professor but his grading systems is very bad no chance to get the grade up. lots of homework do to and I don't recomend this teacher.

Nice guy but he couldn't explain 1+1 to a three year old, and if he did finally get through to the kid...he'd probably get the math wrong.

Quiz or test given each class.Homework due each class from the text as well as online homework for each chapter.

Teaches by the book (literally every example he gives us is identical as in the book including the way he solves it), often makes mistakes, tells us stuff that is on the test is stuff we wont have to worry about it because he wont put it on the test, homework is difficult if you don't do it exactly his way. Would not recommend... ever! Do not take

He is a terrible teacher, my class's test average was a 58% our of a 100. everyone failed, both his classes. i asked him about extra credit, and i quote, he said "I dont give extra credit to people who are already failing". isnt that the point? i do not recomend this teacher to anyone!

A quiz every single class and homework isnt just graded on completeness but randomly selected problems are graded. Not good for people who arent math-minded or sane.

I worked my ass off to get a 69.5! and he wouldn't raise my grade to a C. Not very helpful the only thing I actually learned from was MathXL, his online homework, which was very time consuming. Bad temper, actually kicked me out of class one day for almost nothing.

F this loser, after the first 10 words he spoke to me i went straight to math department and switched professors. i won't be trying him again either.

Worst teacher ever. whoever thinks that he is easy can go to hell. most idiotic teacher i have ever seen at nova. he makes a lot of mistakes while doing math. and i can bet he is the reason for lot of people doing bad in the course. his tests are terrible and so is his grading. take someone else for mth173. This teacher apparently the worst math teacher ever his assignments are just way too much and his exam questions come from just another planet and not from the textbook.....if you want to spoil your trancript or GPA the you should take his class.......he is horrible to many assignments and tests...I ADVICE!!!!!! you do not take his class..

Most boring teacher i have ever had. Writes more words than numbers.....and its math. Rewrites the book and trys to make it clearer....and fails at it.

He was very unhelpful. When someone asked for help he wouldn't answer and would question their intelligence. He is also unclear and makes a lot of mistakes. I choose a good professor in the beginning but got the switchero on the day of the class. I decided to stay. Do NOT be me. Do NOT take his class. A lot of students regretted staying.

Bredeck grades your quizzes differently then whats taught in the book he assigned. His grading is nit-picky and unhelpful and his answer keys are vague and not fully done, yet expects you to be 100% clear with every little step in your quiz. His lectures are ok but it seems like he doesn't know what he is doing when he is solving a problem from the book. He replies to emails 1-2 days later.

Absolutely WORST professor at Nova. He lectures the material way too fast and its impossible to understand anything. You have to teach yourself everything. His exams are nothing on what the homework is, and also there is A LOT of homework, like way too much. I have been at Nova for 3 years and by far he is the worst I've had. Take someone else...

Mr. Bredeck copies noted straight out of the book which makes it very challenging to learn the material in a way that makes sense to you. He doesnt take the time to answer questions during class and will often make mistakes while working out a problem making it nearly impossible to follow along. If youre good at self teaching then it could work.

AWFUL. I have a hard time learning and had help outside the class and a lot of support and it seems that you never really know what is on the test even though you do the homework. Each time visited him, he is nice person but just says "study more" without offering help or guidance. There is a group project in 173.

Literally the hardest class. Tests are 500 percent harder than the homework. Hard to understand cause he only uses math terms and doesnt explain very well.

Will not answer any questions asked. He says that there are too many kids to answer questions, there was only 30 of us (at the beginning of the year) but less and less people are coming to class because it is pointless because he won't help or even teach us. Everything is basically self taught since it's all online and we do everything ourselves!!

Sorry not sorry, but there wasn't a time where I actually got help in my class. I was always told every class that I was behind, and I guess Mr Bredeck didn't understand that some students have rough and tiring lives outside of class. He just tells you to go look in the textbook and doesn't actually help you. I would not recommend him to anyone.

In his lectures he rushes through everything too fast and you don't get a chance to write everything down in your notes. He doesn't teach calculus sections in the correct order and jumps around randomly ahead to sections or topics we haven't learned about and doesn't seem to be very empathetic towards the class's understanding of the math they know

Doesnt give clear rubrics, doesnt go over topics, doesnt give clear standards of what he expects. He expects students to do topics and homework without showing how to do problems

He's an alright guy but more often than not I found that he didn't understand the assignments he was giving out and I was left to figure it out on my own. Don't take unless you have a good group of people that you know will come to class (attendance isn't mandatory loll)

Terrible teacher and puts student down. He literally gives us lectures daily on how we won't be successful and should quit our stem majors.

On the first day of class, he warned us all about how hard the course would be for a good 30 minutes. This is demonstrative of his overall behavior as an instructor of not only setting students up to fail his class, but encouraging their failure.I am baffled by Bredeck's disinterest in considering the position of his students in his class.

He will give you a summary of each chapter and rush through a few examples without explaining rules and the process of how to solve the problem. You are expected to know every formula although you could write it down in your notes and use it on the open note quiz, he won't let you practice in class. His lectures are interesting but you won't learn.

Worst professor. He lectures every single page of the textbook but instead of making it easier to understand, he puts the words into broader terms and uses advanced math symbols to explain the concepts. He doesnt understand teaching and gives no chance of recovery if you start out the class on the wrong foot. He expects answers how he taught.

Worst Professor ever. Talks more than teaches. For his review day before the final he goes over what we need to learn in terms of CONCEPTS. Doesn't actually go over an problem. If you ask to go over a specific problem, he will only set it up for you not teach those who don't know how to follow through.

If you want an F take him, goes over concepts dosent show us a single problem... How are we supposed to do hw IF YOU DONT SHOW US HOW TO DO IT! The worst professor ever, get ready to watch hours of videos at home to teach yourself.

Im telling you the only reason I got an A is becasue this is my third time taking this course so take it from me. CHOOSE ANY ONE ELSE TO TEACH YOU. Even a squirell could do his job better than him.

Save yourself the trouble and take anyone else I didnt take the advice I read here and I took him and it was a huge mistake. I would have way rather taken this class online rather than Bredecks class.

An autistic snail with one eye could teach this class better than Bredeck. Save yourself the trouble and take the class with the snail or anyone else even online will be better.

This professor is absolute worse. I showed up to class every day and his lectures do not make sense. HE TAKES POINTS OFF FOR THE MOST UNNESSCERAY THINGS. He purposely wants his students to fail. he's very rude and told us we should be failing his test. In this class, you really need to look up things on your own because his lectures will not help.

Please don't take him. If you want to struggle, go ahead, but for those who are not so good at math, this professor is not your match. Expects his students to firmly understand the material, when in reality he doesn't help at all.

I am a good student and I failed this class. Terrible Professor you will regret taking especially in a math class like Calc. If you take him thats on you because you were warned- he does not know how to teach for the life of him. Not to mention the terrible attitude. The class he spends telling you what hes gonna teach you and not even teaching.

I literally made an account on here just to warn any future students from taking Bredeck's class. The amount of homework he gives per week is absurd, and that is on top of the class exercises he assigns every class. He is an extremely harsh grader and does not sympathize at all with student's issues. He gives virtually no feedback. Avoid this class

Professor Bredeck is the hardest professor I have ever had. I felt as if he put me down even further when I wasn't understanding the material. He often mentioned how this course is for STEM majors and I, not being a STEM major, would be unlikely to succeed. He doesn't explain and answer questions and relies on group work for you to learn.

The thing wouldnt let me rate 0, He DEFINITELY doesnt deserve a 1. DONT take his class, if you smart enough to find this website, drop his class RIGHT NOW. Ive never got anything below B+ in math in my whole life, and Im asian by the way. I honestly dont know whats wrong with him, he thinks his class is the only thing we have in our life.

I took Math154 the class overall is easy but what makes it hard is when the professor gives class exercises that are due the same day of class. No understanding for people with a life or a job or family. The projects that the professor gives he does not cover the material in class. You need prior knowledge in excel in order to pass the projects.

Does not have study guides, tests are ridiculously hard, and requires 10hrs of study outside of class each week. Think again before you take his class, getting an A its not easy in this class. He likes to frustrate his students, what a weirdo.

I had a lot of trouble finding a math professor to take because a lot of them had bad ratings, so I just took the one that best fit with my schedule. That was a mistake. At first I didn't mind him I just found him slightly condescending. But then after the first class he changed. He would get angry if nobody talked and would just act rude.

Even with regular attendance, homework completion, and studying for tests the class average for the tests is an F. Gets frustrated when students can’t answer questions but doesn’t review when needed simply moves on.

The class started off easy and answered any questions we had. But coming towards the middle of the semester, and he got SUPER upset at us packing up our stuff at the end of class since we have other classes after. Called teaching us a "waste of his time". Was 'hot and cold' when it came to teaching us. If you're thinking of taking his class, DON'T.

I ended up dropping this class because the course was just way too difficult and the professor was not helpful in any way. Very impatient, tested us on the entire textbook. I don't think the class was really given any opportunity to succeed unfortunately.

Please for your own sake, do not take him if you can take someone else. I had a 4.0 gpa until this class and I worked SO hard to even finish with barely a B in the class. Your entire grade is basically determined by three projects that are graded so harshly it doesn't matter if you're perfect because he'll take points off. STAY AWAY!!!

Its a hard class, including the professors harsh personality. You might do well if you are initially good at math, but if not, i advise you not to pick this class. Lectures isnt as heavy since he expects you to learn on your own. Homeworks wasnt that difficult, but be aware of hard tests every few weeks.

Most tests had less than a 50% average score with no grading curve. You can expect around 60-90 questions of homework per week with up to 15 parts on a question. He also acted as if we had no life outside of math. Lastly, he was very bad at explaining things, he would just choose a question from the textbook and acted like we knew how to do it.

I do not recommend prof Bredeck. He assigns so much hw and some of the questions it has like parts to the question which can just take HOURS. you basically need the textbook since you can't access your hw without it. honestly you're basically just teaching yourself. also attendance is GRADED. please just save yourself and just a different professor

Based on this rating. RUN. If you cannot consider yourself "good at math" do not take this course. The HW due at 10-11pm on friday nights are a menace to society. Be prepared to spend like over 10 hours practicing and prepping yourself for the exams. As the lectures or homework does not help in practicing the harder problems.

He assigns a boatload of homework which requires at least 6 hours of math daily to complete. He's rude, unapproachable, and gets mad when students ask questions, ignoring that they have lives beyond math. His lectures are useless since he just reads from the textbook and assumes everyone already knows the material. Awful professor and and awful guy

I can respect this guy to a certain degree because he's a good mathematician, but he doesn't explain the concepts well and rushes through everything. Also, HW is due at 10-11pm and the tests are extremely challenging, other than that, I wouldn't recommend this professor for Calc 1. Please save your time and money for someone else.

Just run, please. Homework is due at 10:59 pm, blunt, not approachable guy. Homeworks take hours each day to complete. You have to know exactly what you're doing to even get help with what your struggling with.

In his course the required textbook reading is not related to the homework which is not related to the actual test, yet you are graded on all 3. There is also a group project, if people drop the class then your group will be down multiple people. All my group members dropped so I did to.
