Cool teacher so far.
He is an amazing teacher!!!! The class is easy and you learn a lot. I recommend him 100%. He's laid back. Doesn't give too much homework. His tests are easy if you study. The labs are easy. Definately one of the best chem teachers out there. A++++
Good Teacher.clear . do homework and you should be fine. study too ofcourse!if you are serious about school ,you shoudnt get anything less than a B
This is the Chem class you can pass just attending the class. Highly recommended!
Easy to get an A. Take this class!
Mr. Diaz is a wonderful teacher who teaches everything right out of the book. All test questions come straight from the homework and if you put in enough effort you will get an A. The labs are extrememly easy and funn. You must write them up or type them and you get full credit. Overal, a great teacher and would definently take him again!!!
He is so wonderful . Nice , sweet , cares .... THE best prof at lattc . IF only everyone was like him . you study and you get your A
He is a very good teacher. Very helpful and nice. He makes the subject so exciting. He teaches straight from the book and the tests are straight for the home work questions. TAKE HIM you will get an A.
Very highly recommended professor who very clear and understandable. Labs are straight forward. If you do homework and understand them, you should do well in the class an "A" is do-able. Super nice professor, there is none like him.
This man is a Godsend.True that he's very laidback but he will help you if you harrass :) The class overall was very enjoyable and he teaches straight from the book. As long as you do the homework and examples you'll do great on the exams. Diaz, I <3 u!
GREAT PROFESSOR!!! highly recommended!!
Great professor. Organized, to the point, fair. Do your homework. Do labs. Come to class.
He is a great person and such a nice teacher who want to help the student. Since, the subject is hard, you need to study for yourself which means, preview and review. Study all the problem of odd numbers then you should be fine.
most amazing professor. he will help you with anything you need and explains everything in depth. would take him again 1000%
Attendance isn't required but he sometimes changes the test date, so it's recommended you go. In order to pass his class, just do the homework! He really knows how to explain things and answer questions. Really easy to talk to. Again, just do the homework and you will get an A!
One of the best professors I have ever taken. Extremely intelligent, helpful, and funny! Work hard and you will get out what you put in. Pay attention in class, work hard on your labs. Highly recommended!
Professor Diaz is one of the best teacher in Organich Chem. Take him if you want to learn and get an A.
BEST PROFESSOR EVER!!! LOVED THIS CLASS!
He makes Chemistry fun, very helpful, has good sense of humor and good looking. Exams are from homework. Definitely need the textbook. Finals are from past exams.
This is the most wonderful and dreamy chemistry teacher in the whole world. He makes chemistry so interesting, so clear and understandable. He is not the easiest teacher but he is there for you and he will motivate you to want to pass. His jokes are so funny and his tests are so fair. You just can't go wrong with this professor
VERY DOWN TO EARTH, HOT, FUNNY. HIS LECTURES ARE CRYSTAL CLEAR.
VERY DOWN TO EARTH, HOT, AND FUNNY PROFESSOR. VERY UNDERSTANDABLE WILL NOT FAIL STUDENTS. I HATED CHEM AND I SUCK AT IT. I PASSED WITH A B.
He is so HOT! Which makes it easier to go to class and pay attention!
BEST teacher ever! He is so sweet and very helpful. As long as you the the home works and understand it you will do really well on his tests. TAKE HIM YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!
grades lab pretty hard, but super helpful and nice. really laid back and lectures pretty well. overall, enjoyable chem class
He's a really laid back professor. 1 question quizzes, 3 exams approx. 3-4 chapters each & 1 accumulative final. I'd say he's quite fair but sometimes he grades a little TOO hard i.e. 5%off for sigfig. Labs are tiring, he wants them hand written. A good professor for anyone wanting to really learn but you got to do the work for that A
He is an excellent teacher! He is also handsome, muscular, funny and laid-back which makes being in his class a real pleasure!!!
Very nice professor. Lectures are not too long. He does take points from lab, so pay attention. Tests come from the homework, no secret. He clarifies any questions, even the basic Math questions. Still a hard semester. Be prepared and study.
Good chemistry class. Prof. Diaz presents the info well and explains concepts easily. He is patient and helpful. His lessons follow the textbook so you'll need to buy the book. If you go to class, do the homework, attend the labs, and do extra credit when it is offered, you should do well.
UAU. Very nice professor. Work hard in your homework and clarify questions. You will do great. Very clear in what he wants. He is a little bit harder grading lab, but at the end will not make your grade drop. Take him, you will love it.
Great professor! take him!
Very reasonable professor. Doesn't give a lot of homework. Test are straight from the homework. If anything he lacks strictness which is probably what the students needed but greatly appreciated.
Chemistry is never easy, but Dr. Diaz makes it both interesting and as easy for you as possible. All equations are given for tests! He's particular on his lab reports, but not hard to do well if you follow his instructions. There is really no better chem professor in LACCD; take him if you can! I got an the A I wanted.
Overall, great Professor. He's smart, caring and really chill. He added everyone on the waiting list (maybe 20-25 people). Do the homework = A. Good luck!
If you do the homeworks and Study it, you gonna get an A in the class. get the answer keys for the homework. Lab is easy.
He's awesome. He love what he does. All you need to pass his class is study the homework! The homework and test are the same, literally, study the homework. Study the homework. I cannot repeat it enough, study the homework. Plus, he always answers your questions. EVERY TIME! You'll love it.
Helpful, do homework!!!!Exams are based on assignments. Re do your homework it will help you tremendously!
His test are based on the homework... If you do not do the homework you will not succeed. Do the homework, ask questions, he's pretty hilarious but he answers you with clarity and complete understanding. He's an amazing professor, he loves what he does. He's just awesome, if you fail it is because you didn't give your 50%!
The BEST science professor - nice, approachable, brilliant, attractive - I've had. Prof. teaches his course materials very well. Lab course is well-explained & fun thru step-by-step instruction. His teaching method is superb - crystal clear, informative. It is not an easy A class. Studying textbook & practicing exercises are required. Ask question!
I'm going to be really honest here. He is one of the most laid back professors I've ever had. So down to earth, do your HW & you'll be fine. Wish all my classes were like his! And he's not bad to look at!!!!!!
Chemistry was always a monster for me, but I passed with an A. It was not easy lecture wise, you have to be in the class and study the power points and do all the homework. if you do so, you are good and you will pass with an A. He is the nicest teacher I ever had , I wish other professors were a little like him. Plus he is not bad to look at ;)
He's the best teacher I've ever had. Just do and read the homework then ur gonna be fine. Love him so much take him for every chem u need!!
Study the textbook, understand the concepts, do the exercises yourself because Diaz gives the exams from the homework questions, turn in the homework, take the quizzes, participate at labs and write precise lab reports, get 80% or higher from the exams, and do all the extra credits, at the end you'll get an A from him! He's one of the best :)
I took Dr. Diaz this summer. Obviously summer classes are hard and Chemistry isn't an easy subject (especially in 5 weeks) but he is an amazing teacher and his teaching style is informative yet fun. I am really bad at math but I put in the effort and really tried (went to tutoring, study groups, office hours) and it paid off. I'll miss him :(
He is an amazing teacher! I never really liked chemistry but after taking him this summer I realized my love for chem. His class was not exactly an "easy A," you have to put in the work in order to get the grade you want. His tests are based on the homework so do it all! I wish every professor could be like him. Totally in LOVE with him!!
Pretty easy peasy. No multiple choice or learning of actual chemistry it was just a math class full of formulas which he gives you for the exams. He gets the exam problems from the homework (book) he gives you formulas & periodic table. He usually drops your 2 lowest scores on each exams which can take you from a C to an A. Was a walk in the park:)
3 exams, 3 quizzes, write precise lab reports, do your hw. He sets up the grading criteria for you to succeed! You'll get a C if you deserve it and you'll earn your A . No pressure professor that is very fair.
I hate chemistry but managed to Get a B in the class. Do the homework, go to lab. Great professor, super hot too.
Assigns homework from the book. Test are solely based on homework so make sure you get it done. There were a total of 3 exams, plus the final, and lab reports. He's funny, smart and respects his students. Take no other!
Follow the syllabus and you'll be fine. Be prepared to do work. Homework problems were a lot harder than the test problems. Gives great lectures and is available during office hours, take advantage!
The best chemistry professor I have ever had! He made learning chemistry so much fun! I done know how anyone could fail his class. Do the homework, and go to lab. The funnest class I took this Spring!
Dr. Diaz is one of the best professors I have ever had! I was hesitate in taking Chemistry, but this man makes learning chemistry so much fun! He's kind, clear, and brilliant! Labs are so much fun, too! When in doubt, feel free to ask him questions, he is always more than happy to help!
Greatest chemistry teacher, I've ever had.
Dr. Diaz is an ok instructor. Taught mainly from the power points with little problem solving, which means you have to learn just about everything on your own. His exams are actually not that bad. Do the homework many times since he likes to take problems from the homework and put them on the exam. Do that and you'll do well.
He is he reason I am now pursuing a degree in STEM. After not being in school for nearly 10 years and being extremely afraid of chemistry, I was a bit skeptical about taking intro. chem, but this man made me change my perspective on science. He made chemistry so fun& interesting, and didn't put anyone down. I truly admire this man.
Awesome dude! Took him for general and organic chemistry and now Im in Berkeley! Would completely recommend. Just do the homework and show up to class. He usually curves, depending on how ge whole class does. He is so laid back and steer free. If you have an issue speak to him in private, he is flexible and caring. Awesome guy!!!
He might seem like a nice guy, but he doesn't teach much. He reads the powerpoint slides and don't explain anything. When you ask him questions he can get offended and not answer you. The lab is sometimes chaotic too.
Diaz just used powerpoint, what a waste of our time. We can read those slides at home, he doesn't explain anything anyway. Most students learn the material on their own.
Dr. Diaz lectures are quite long. Its hard to stay awake with his low monotone voice. HW isnt too hard and his exams are easy if you read the text book. Hes more than willing to answer your questions. He also likes to mess with his students.
Teachs thru power points that he did not make. He reads off the power points... and sometimes write on the board. he has a monotone voice. (not motivating) you don't have to show up for lecture... you can read the power points at home and teach your self. DO THE HOMEWORK .. understand the home work.. test is the same as homework..
Dr. Diaz is awesome! His lectures are based on PowerPoints that he posts to canvas. He gives 3 tests graded on a sweet curve. The test questions come from the homework. So if u do the homework and understand it you will have no problem with the tests! For the final its about 13 questions 6 of which come from the previous tests. Easy A! & hes hot
Clear & straightforward. The hardest part is to do & understand HW (key for tests). He helps really if you ask for help. It is a good & possible Chem 212 class for anyone who is not super lazy. Don't let the way he lectures scares you (he explains in a hard way & a fast speed); it is possible & doable, but it requires a LOT of TIME! Thanks Dr. Diaz
Dr. Diaz is awesome! He is a helpful, sarcastic, and funny professor. He believes that chemistry should be fun and easy. The class consist of 3 lecture exams and a accumulative final. My only complain is he makes you rewrite your labs. Overall, I highly recommend him. You will pass if you put in the effort to study and turn in homework and labs.
The class requires a lot of commitment. Dr. Diaz is an exceptional professor; explains very well and is willing to answer your questions. If you understand the homework, you will do good on the exams. He uses the homework as a guide for the exams. He makes the class fun and easy. If you struggle, go talk to him. He is very understanding and kind.
Wonderfully caring and empathetic professor. Dr. Diaz is willing to help if you ask. Lectures are fun and easy to follow through. If you don't understand a concept make sure to ask him. Homework are the key for the exams. Would take him again. Highly recommended. He enjoyed helping his students and showing compassion.
Dr. Diaz is by far the best OCHEM professor I have encountered; he truly cares about his students and will not test on anything besides the homework problems assigned & what he covers in lecture. I took this class over the winter, and Dr. Diaz made OCHEM very clear and understandable. Solid professor, any student would be lucky to be in his class!
Took him for winter Chem 211 and had a great time. He is always willing to help any student regardless of the question. Test questions were copy and pasted from the homework problems. Will drop 2-3 questions per test depending on how the class did, his version of curving. Overall amazing Ochem 1 professor!
-very organized class. If anything changes it is discussed during class. Clear of what you should know -He uses canvas as your personal resource tool with everything you need in order to pass the class. (videos, practice test ,etc) -Lectures are interactive for better understanding -Labs are interesting , no pressure
Don't think you will find an easier ochem teacher than Dr. Diaz. His tests are 8-12 questions DIRECTLY from the homework and he curved every test by at least 1 question. Just review the powerpoints and do the homework. He made the lectures very funny and the labs were enjoyable as well. He truly cares and wants to see his students succeed.
Very good professor. His lectures and labs are fun. But there's way too much information and work. You must re-write your labs into a notebook, which I found unnecessary but that's what he asks for. Overall, hated it because I have Chemistry.
Professor cannot teach. All of his "teaching" is based on the default slides that come with the book and all Professor Diaz does is read off the slides. Many times in class professor Diaz couldn't answer student questions regarding the material and regarding how he would grade us on Exams and Labs. I've never seen students less engaged in a class.
I took his class based on "good" reviews," but honestly this professor is a nightmare. sure, exams are like HW, but he's a harsh grader. Haven't learned anything in his class, so i watched a lot of youtube. He's okay, he can be a smart a**, but just reply the same as he does.
Not very good at the teaching part. Even worse online. Grades labs and exams brutally. Very little extra credit. Horrible communicator.
This professor does not know the concepts and due to this even does not know how to explain it. He is a full-time professor who only gets money and does not know anything. I would not suggest to him at all please consider another professor and save your grade. Confusing class!
There are many things you need to consider before taking his class, such as he is changing his method of teaching meaning that he is ..... His tests are very heavy and on he is an unfair grader. If you are lucky and he likes you, you are going to receive a good grade and if not you are most likely not. The professor does not know chemistry.
Diaz if you are reading this just know that you destroyed my future and transcript. I hope this world puts you in a place to feel that you are destroyed and there is nothing that you can do about it. You do not know how to teach and grade then ruined my future.
The worst ever professor at Chemistry DEPARTMENT.
First, go and learn Chemistry then come and say " Hi, everyone".
Do not pay attention to what he says instead focus on YouTube Videos.
This professor does not understand students and he is a horrible communicator and he is not able to explain anything.
The worst ever professor.
The worst chemistry professor in the world. Not kidding. Teaches very boringly no use as its not helpful for exams anyway. Gives random quizzes nothing to do with lecture. Then gives a long ass exam having nothing to do with the homework he emphasizes to do. Cant you be lenient during COVID. Its hard for us students as is. No exams are not hw.
He ruined my future and I hope someday people find out about how he teaches and does not know anything. The worst ever professor. His tests are super hard and nothing to do with what has been telling for 2 hours in the class time.
Teaches in a very monotone and boring manner. Hw and exams are unnecessarily hard. He is a SUPER tough and unfair grader, barely curves and exams are difficult. Youre gonna waste 90% of your time on long labs. He acts nice by extending exam dates but still makes them hard. Bad professor avoid at all costs.
He's a very tough grader, he likes taking off points for everything and doesn't have a clear grading criterion. Exams are nothing like the homework which is the only thing he tells us to study. Grades tough on lab reports. He's nice about curving exams and extending deadlines, but other than that he was not really understanding of the pandemic.
Everyone wants an easy A. His class isn't like that, and you do have to put in a lot of work. BUT he does care about his students, and wants them to succeed. If you're stuck, just ask him for help. Ochem is very hard on its own. Do the HW early so you know what you need to review, and take advantage of his study sessions after class. Real nice guy!
he doesn't make the material easy but he's very generous with student requests. he's not as terrible as the people here said.
He's alright. Not the worst, not the best.
I dont know what happened this semester but it was horrible. He was supposedly going to evaluate each students work to possibly round us up a few points but it seems he only did it for people who were never in class. Exams are super long and you never really know what it is he wants as an answer. I regret not dropping before the drop date.
Professor is generous about extensions on lab reports. Ppl took advantage of this. Labs can be long and tough but once you get the hang of it its easy. Pop quizzes based on lecture. Exam qs are 40% homework just diff comp. and 60%random conceptual questions. Doable if you study and understand the concepts and homework. Curves exams which helped.
Load you down with tons of homework and lab every week. 3 exams plus a final!!
I am not going to lie. This class was very difficult for me. However, the Professor is very fair and extremely helpful. He will meet with you office hours before and after class. The Professor is extremely supportive of student goals. Be aware that OChem at any school will mean you have you have to put in sweat equity and hard work to pass.
This professor grades horribly. he only gives 10 points on the homework when it takes hours and hours to do it. The homework are about 30 pages and HE ONLY GIVES 10 POINTS!!!!!!!! I would not recommend to take this class if you are taking more than 3 classes!! rate 0
He is super chill and is helpful if you ask. He wants to help the student so he's very accommodating as well. As long as you go to class and take notes, you will pass.
My favourite professor ever. He is very respectful, understands his students and he knows what he is teaching. Do the Homework, understand it and you'll be fine.
Great professor! very sarcastic but in a good way. Labs were mandatory but if you missed just get the lab sheet from someone in class. lectures were NOT mandatory but highly recommended.Labs are pretty easy but the tests can be so hard. Tests and final are based off of HW literally he just pulls them from the HW. So study and go to tutoring.
One of the best Org Chem professors I ever had. He will help his students a lot. I took him in winter, and this class was actually very easy. He has clear lectures, homework, and exams. Study the slides and do the homework, and you'll pass this class with a B or better.
Amazing professor. Just do your homework, go to class and you'll get an amazing grade
Dr Diaz is a great professor that makes sure his students pass his class. He is understanding and puts a lot of effort into his lectures so the students can follow the lesson clearly. Just do the homework and study, in order to understand the subject. Chemistry is a tough subject but the professor helps to break it down in simple terms.
I took the course during winter and it was pretty tough which was to be expected but sometimes it felt like he had no idea what he was talking about. He did not really explain the subjects well and most of the time I had to learn them myself. He takes off so many random points for the labs for things the lab do not ask for which are very annoying.
man oh man.. what a class!!! To do well in this class - Do every homework problem ODD and EVEN for every chapter he assigns. (Exam questions come straight from the textbook. They WILL appear again on exams) -Ask to get labs regraded if you did 'bad" - Ask pop quiz due dates to be moved
Tough but rewarding class. Do every homework problem, use Unstuckstudy for prep, and you'll do well. Lectures could be better, but office hours help a lot.
I took this class over the winter, and I would take Dr. Diaz over and over again if I could. He asks lots of questions during lectures, making you question what you know and why. Best prof I've ever had. He's a super chill and funny guy. Truly made OChem enjoyable. If you do all of the homework and ask lots of questions during class, you'll pass.
Dr. Diaz wants to see his students succeed and is always willing to clarify topics. Labs were fun and educative. Make sure to do homework to prepare you for the exam! Exams are a big part of your grade.
I 100% recommend Dr. Diaz! He's very lenient and bases exams on the homework. Your grade depends heavily on exams, but if you use the homework as a study guide and brush up on math, you'll do great. His labs are also easy and straightforward.
I do not recommend taking this professor because he is not helpful at all!! when we ask questions in class he often gaslights you and does not respond clearly. you need to spend a lot of time on your own to teach yourself the topics because majority of the time hell go over it once then not mention it again unless you ask.
