Dr. Hewson is a great prof. All of his lectures were information that wasn't in the textbook, which made the class a lot more interesting. The midterms and final were super easy as long as you studied and had been to the classes and read the text book. I'd definitely take another class from him.

IT'S VERY EASY CLASS

I took this class last semester. Hewson is a good prof. I loved what he did in class. My T.A. was a hot foreigner named Omi who speaks better english than any other T.A i ever had. Go Omi :) !! The tests were easy, and the grading was fair. A good class all together.

Great Prof! His lectures are awsome, very interesting. Sometimes he can be ignorant to different ideas, but that may be his only flaw. I highly recommend this prof if you want to learn politics!

I love Martin Hewson. He is so cute with his perfectly round gold rimmed glasses. Prof Hewson's lectures are perfectly organized and he gives lots of time to take notes. The World Politics text is interesting and an easy read. I would recommend this class to everyone!

Excellent prof. Very clear, interesting lectures. It was the last class in my very long day, and I always enjoyed it. Lots of reading, but hey, it was a 100 level class. Love the accent. Speaks slow enough that you can take really detailed notes if you feel like it. Definitely recommended.

The reading was torture, too much even for 100 lv.very good lecture style,accent provides depth to the lecture lol. I really liked the class. The class had a seminar, 2 midterms and a final. No reports. He teahces pretty straight-forward. Take this from him, it was easy.

Great professor! class consists of 2 lectures and one lab a week. The midterm and final are only based on his notes, which are defined clearly in class. Each lecture you are given a list, which makes it very easy to study. Marks harder then he did in psci100 but is still fairly easy. Take this class, you wont be dissapointed!

Great Prof, very clear lectures, exams and assignments are very straight forward. Makes the class interesting by his personal interest in the class. Very intelligent guy.

Information overload. Marks grammar and style on midterms, but the rest is information barf. Tons of writing with little interaction in class. Atleast class passes quickly. Nice guy too.

wow this was an interesting class.. lots of info but it is very basic.. so it was easy to learn it and stuff.. proff will definitely help u if u need it. he isnt a hard marker..but however does expect work to be done.. i enjoyed this class and i think ppl should totally take poli scie 240 ..i learned lots of stuff

Well organized, well spoken, he is a pretty cool dude. Tests are 40 mins, and many questions within that time period. Be a speed demon! The tests are easy if you study. Taking this class makes the semester go by faster.

Great Lectures, your lab instructors mark everything-- could be great or just aweful. Be prepared his mid-terms are long and you have very little time to write them.

His lectures are so straight to the point that he glosses over anything important. If you stray from his "suggested" ways of doing things you will get docked marks. He asks you to regurgitate his notes, and then when you do and give examples, he still docks you marks.I don't know if he had it out for me, doesnt know how to mark, or just doesnt care

Clear on what he wants. Engaging material, some quite controversial. Great prof who marks extremely fair with classes that involve way more than just lecture-info barf. An asset to the department.

He is an absolutely fantastic professor. You can tell that he really enjoys what he teaches and he really engages the class. His lectures don't really follow the textbook but instead he relates to current events and makes them even more interesting. I recommend keeping up with the reading. He is a great prof!

He is an awsome prof. This was my third time having him. He really enjoys teaching and that really helps the students. If you show up for class and do the readings you will do fine in his class. Goes a little overboard in asking too much on an exam, but his tests are ok if you the students do the work. He will give you hints on what to expect.

Dr.Hewson is the best polsci prof i've had yet! He made it very interesting...you enjoyed coming to class. The debates were a great way to keep the class motivated! Take this class if you can!

I was lucky enough to have Hewson as a prof in PSCI 100 and 240. He's great! I had over 80 in each of these classes, not from doing insane amounts of studying, but from merely showing up to class. He outlines notes and the exams really well so you have everything you need to succeed. I'm pumped to be taking a 3rd class from him! I LOVE HEWSON!

Great prof in terms of organized lectures, clarity, and test format. If you show up, do the work, and ask your TA questions he is an awesome prof and you will grade well. My only issue was he occasionally has a tendency to adopt the archetype of the arrogant, condescending, university academic that can be frustrating for some students.

Best PSCI prof I have had. Absolutely hilarious and has extremely well organized lectures. You will do well in class if you attend regularly and study for the test!

if you attend the class, prepare for the test 3 to 4 days in advance and making sure you really understand what is asked for you on assignment you will do well. this proff does not sure u of r courses..can be dull at times. very organized lectures

Martin Hewson is one of the best poli sci profs at the university. Class is fairly easy as long as you take good notes and DO THE ASSIGNED READINGS. Details exams well, easy final as well.

Professor Hewson is a great prof. He is a great speaker and he knows his stuff, although he seems to be very biased/one-sided in his teaching. Be careful of opposing his views because he will defend them and he will challenge you. May laugh at what he considers "stupid" questions or "silly" ideas.

Martin is an excellent prof! One of the best lecturers I have ever had. His lectures are clear, concise and interesting. Very easy to follow and to take notes from. He makes himself available outside of class as well. I would definitely take other classes from this prof. If you get the opportunity to take one of his classes, do it!

Great prof! Great lecturer and very funny! Tried making the class fun and getting students involved by having breaks from lectures and having discussion days or triva days. Easy class as long as you attend class and read the text!

Pretty good prof. His lectures are organized and precise. Marks pretty easy, too. Some of his tests, tho, are a joke. The first midterm we had, he pulled questions out of nowhere and most of the class did very poorly. Other than that, I generally enjoyed his class.

This is a very easy course. The first test was unclear, but he asks your opinions on it afterwards, so the other 3 tests were fine(no final). You do need to read the textbook! The lectures were very well organized, easy to take notes from. However, if you have an opinion that differs from Martin's, don't voice it because he doesn't want to hear it.

Hewson is an amazing lecturer who is very organized and detail oriented. Keeps you interested the entire time. Must attend class as exams include all lectures (no slides online) and must read the textbook. He is both easy to understand and understandable. Recommend this class to anyone.

Martin is an amazing professor! His notes are clearly outlined on the board, and he doesn't talk too fast (or too slow) so you have plenty of time to take down nearly all he says! His midterms can be a bit tough, but still easy enough. Friendly, exciting, all around great prof. TAKE HIS CLASS!

Good prof. Passionate, easy to take notes. tests are weird. only 4 tests (including the final) and the final is just another unit test. Don't take if you cant write tests well. makes politics and political issues through history less dry, and makes jokes to keep you entertained. I recommend him.

This class was awesome! He is a great prof, very funny and quite entertaining. You must attend class and take great notes (use a laptop).

We had a grand total of 4 tests each worth 25% of our final grade. They where short each had a maximum time of 30 minutes but took around 20 minutes to finish. The final was not comprehensive and on most days he let us out 10 to 15 minutes early.

PSCI 100, you must take notes, and literally write down EVERYTHING he says. No textbook. He usually lets the class out early. He's pretty funny. Short answer tests worth 25% . Also, he posts readings online with lists of terms that you need to be able to recognize. Overall, a good way to learn the basics of political science.

Martin is an AMAZING prof. Actually felt like I learnt something in his class. 4 midterm (25% each), not cumulative and no final. Be prepared to write down EVERYTHING he says tho and memorize EVERYTHING for the midterm. You have to show up to class and take good notes to do well in his class, no textbook just a few short readings that he provides.

Awesome prof! His exams are easy if you study, 25% each and not cumulative which is awesome. He doesn't upload much for powerpoints so attend each class, take good notes and the class is a breeze. He's such a nice guy and made the subject really enjoyable. No textbook either which is great.

This was by far the best class I took in my 1st year of University. There are no papers, 3 midterms and a final which is not cumulative and the same length as the mid terms (about a page). There is no textbook, what little you have to read will be put up on URCourses. I would recommend this class to 1st years and people looking for a low workload.

Makes the class very interesting. Make sure to take decent notes and show up and you'll finish with a great mark. Slides aren't useful for studying but help make the class interesting.

Martin's lectures are incredible. You can tell he enjoys teaching the subject. There will be many definitions and ideas that you need to be memorized, but there is always plenty of time to do so before any midterms. While in class, be sure to be avidly taking notes, as there isn't a book or overly helpful slides to review later.

Martin is a great prof. His class has 3 midterms and a final, all worth 25% of your grade. If you show up to the lectures and take good notes, you can easily finish the class with an A+. Funny, interesting lectures.

Martin is a great professor and I would definitely take more of his classes in the future. His lectures are entertaining and fun. Class only consists of three midterms and a final exam which are 25% each, and are not cumulative. He tries to end class early and you do not need a textbook for his class as he gives out the resources needed online.

Martin is a fantastic Prof and Im glad that I had the chance to take a class from him. His marking is very fair and his feedback is excellent!! He is funny and extremely intelligent and never belittles anyones thoughts or ideas. Id definitely recommend him as a prof.

Great prof just not very clear grading scheme. No tests or final and the term project is super easy and only takes like half an hour. Assignments are based off the lectures so if you miss a class you can't do the assignment, but you get 6 freebies that you don't have to do. I loved being able to finish the class early and focus on my other exams.

I don't have enough good things to say about Dr. Hewson. He is not only a nice man, his lectures are possibly the best in my University experience and his assignments are accessible and clear. I can't imagine anyone not liking his class or him, hes that good!

I enjoyed Martin as a professor. His lectures were entertaining and easy to flow. Make sure to go to class and take good notes or else you will struggle to get to the word count on essays. If you can take a class from him you should.

The main take away is probably don't skip class because, although the powerpoints are posted, there is not enough information on those slides that will help u get through the very many quizzes and the essays. Prof gives more information in lectures, so if you miss, then you'll miss info that will help reach essay word count. Great lecturer though!

Hewson was a great prof to have this summer. His lectures were online and organized into 10-20 minute videos. The videos provided some notes, but you mostly had to listen to what he was saying to get the full idea. Only 3 essays, pretty easy only 1000 words. Can be a bit bland speaking at times, but very interesting info. Would take again.
