Prof Valle is very approachable and explains grammar points very clearly. He makes his class funny.

Funny, easy-going guy. Class isn't hard at all and the exams are cut-and-dry. He tries to design the test so you'll be in and out fairly quickly if you know the material. Very willing to help outside of class if you need it, but the class was super easy regardless.

He's a very chill teacher. The class covers the first 6 chapters of the book - need to buy that and the online code. There are ~4 exams, one cumulative final, 2 essays, 1 speaking project. He really helps you with what you need to know for the exams and essays. The environment is very open, fun, and chill. I'd recommend taking spanish with him!

Prof Valle is very clear and that makes the class easy to understand. He is also very approachable and enthusiastic and that makes the students comfortable. I will take my next Spanish class with him.

Great Teacher. Coming from ZERO Spanish, he made it fairly easy for me to understand with his crystal clear explanations in Span 101 and now in Span 201. Good at teaching those students who already know Spanish since high school and those who don't like me. Fun class! Recommend him very highly!

Very interesting class, I really learned from it. Just read the textbook, don't miss a class, participate and you will pass the exams, which are easy if you pay attention and you study and do group work. He is also funny at times which helps to retained the material. Interesting movie during the semester too. I really recommend this teacher.

I took Prof. Valle Span 201 class and he kept my attention even thought it was an 8:30 am class. He's funny and grades fairly. If you're confused on a grammar pont you can always approach him. I suggest attending class and participating every day because at the end of the semester it will help. Highly recommended

Valle is one of the best professors I've had in my entire academic career. Hilarious, makes going to my 9am class worth it. Easy if you pay attention. He forces you to raise your hand and participate a lot in class so BE SURE TO DO SO to get a good grade

He tells you everything that you need to know for the tests with study guides that are almost identical. He is relatable. There is one easy group project, about 4 super easy tests that take less than half an hour, and 2 in class essays that he gives you the prompt to prepare beforehand. TAKE HIM and you will get an A

He is a very good teacher. There is a lot of work, but he takes the time to go through all the material and gives lots of help and thorough test guides to help you retain and learn the material. He answers all questions and is very approachable. As someone who did not take Spanish in high school, this teacher made it all possible for me.

The best out of the Spanish professors, he wants all of her students to succeed. Easy for those who took Spanish before like most of the class. Challenging if Spanish was not your language of choice before. Overall excellent teacher with plenty of excercises to make sure you learned.

He is very clear and easy to understand. If you've taken Spanish in high school, you'll be great. If not, you'll have to work a little, but not much.

Class can be challenging depending on your Spanish background: 3 exams, 2 kinnda long compositions, one oral exam, and the final. Participation in class counts. Good thing is he's clear and makes the hour go fast. Tries to make it interesting for everyone even if you've taken Spanish for ever. Didn't get bore to tears.

Easy professor if you have some background Spanish knowledge (but he should be easy even if you're just learning as long as you put in the work). He's a great guy and makes the 50 minutes of class pass by quickly. Everything he teaches is on the test. He's very clear and it's really not that hard to get an A in his class.

Very dedicated! Even though you have a couple compositions for the class, you can always before hand to help you out with it. His instructions on test material are very clear and he's always available for help. This class is an easy A if you put some effort into it.

Prof. Valle is a really funny guy, and very laid back. Class was always enjoyable with him, although I don't think he was the most effective teacher I've ever had (sometimes his explanations are a bit unclear). If you study what he tells you to and/or know Spanish well, you will do fine.

Señor Valle is so sweet! Very nice, caring & funny. Participation matters and he calls on students often. Don't be surprised if you have to answer out loud at least once every session, but don't worry about guessing wrong, he just wants everyone involved and actively participating. He posts test study guides/practice worksheets for tests - helpful!

This professor held one of the most fun classes that I have ever had. He cares about his students and will say that he will put in more than 50% of what he is expected to do to help his students learn. He has tons of resources on his website and is available for help at any time. He is really funny and loved by his classroom!

Professor Valle is funny, understanding, and caring. There is very little homework, but it is helpful. I had him for Spanish 201-h (which focuses on health terms). He understood that his students were in the process of learning, and did not expect us to be perfect at Spanish (many professors do). He made Spanish easy and fun.

Professor Valle is the best Spanish professor at Chapman. He makes going to Spanish class as enjoyable as it could be and is great at teaching the language. He requires everyone in the class to participate, but he's really nice about it and never makes you feel uncomfortable if you don't know the right answer. Definitely take his class!

One of the best teachers I have ever had at Chapman. You can tell he cares about his students and wants them to pass. However, if he sees you slacking off and not trying he will be able to notice.

Martin is such a homie. I took this class as a requirement and went in so scared but Martin is such a good professor and makes learning so easy. He is hilarious and never makes you feel embarrassed to participate or forced to do so, but participating is important. He makes things literally as easy as possible but you do have to put the effort in.

I love Martin! He is SO funny & is really relatable to students. I was v nervous for Spanish 201 but he creates a very safe environment where I'm not scared to participate or be wrong. He gives 100% on all journals as long as u do em & is clear about what's gonna be on the tests. He might try to scare you on syllabus day but trust me he's laid back

Great class and Professor. His classes are organized and he encourages us to want to perform better everyday, and to practice Spanish all the time. His insights are also very helpful, as he gives us exercises, ideas and techniques to improve such as writing and conversation exercises in Spanish using vocabulary and Grammar.

Valle was super scary on syllabus day but then after that, he was great (so don't let the first class spook you!). He's an easy and fast grader, he lectures in English to make sure you understand it all and is really understanding in class if Spanish isn't super easy for you. You have to participate, but don't be scared about it. Super funny too.

Great class with lots of practice like journals and conversation drills. Lots of homework but not so bad. I was scare because Spanish is not my favorite subject but I felt I could always participate without feeling dumb.

Great teacher: A warning: You need to participate a lot and study the materia. Homework is online and can be hectic. Tests are long but if you study you should be fine. You also have to talk in front of the class. Overall great class.

Martin is probably the most fun Spanish prof you can take. He speaks in English (HUGE plus for me) and is always light, encouraging, and being in his class felt like just being with a group of friends for 50 minutes. He can sometimes act harsh to get you to work, but he's really very nice and lenient. Seriously worth taking, also an easy A.

I took 201B, which is Spanish for Business. Martin is super chill, walked into class in sweats every day. Basically, class included lecture and a group activity. He gives lots of examples so the concepts are easy to understand. Clear grading criteria for the tests. You only need the textbook for vocab and examples, and he gives both.

I love professor Valle, he speaks all in English making the material really easy to understand. He has super easy quizzes and helps the class with answers. He is super laid back and grades easy when he can, although the Spanish department is a pain... If you can I would for sure take him, he will be sure to put a smile on your face.

Valle is literally the best. Brightened my day every time I went to class. He makes the class as easy as possible so if you're scared about your Spanish skills, do not worry at all. He requires participation but it is very laid back and will help you if you don't get something. He grades easy as well, including on presentations.

Makes Spanish simple and easy to learn. Gets right to the point. However, gives unclear directions and gets annoyed if you ask to specify directions. Overall, easy class.

Martin was my favorite Spanish teacher I've ever taken! I took this class during Interterm and he made it much less stressful than I expected. He's funny, caring and wants you to understand the material and pass the class! He understands that you won't be a pro at the language. 100% take this class with this professor, you won't regret it!

I struggle with spanish normally, but he made getting an A very possible. He is intimidating at first because he really likes spanish and wants everyone to become fluent, but just agree with him regardless of that since 201 for many is the last spanish class. He tells you what is going to be on quizzes and exams, straightforward, no tricks.

He is so funny, nice, and an all around amazing teacher. He never gets frustrated and talks to us more like we are his friends, rather than students. He is there for you if you need help, and also answers unrelated questions based on your own intrigue. He does not shame you for blanking out a bit or being stuck on something, but rather helps!

Professor Martin is AMAZING! I was nervous to take this class, as I am not the best at spanish. However, Martin made this class so easy and so fun! A few quizzes and tests throughout the semester, along with oral presentations and some in class writing. Definitely participate or else you will get cold called! 12/10 recommend Martin Valle for 201!

I loved Martin! I took spanish in high school and thought that this was beyond easy. He just teaches the basics but he's so funny and usually lets us out early. His class was anything but a burden to go to because it was so entertaining. I never studied for any of the quizzes and always got an A. Definitely recommend him!!!

Prof Valle mas great at explaining grammar. Vocabulary was very helpful for healthcare settings. Heavy homework but it was helpful for exams. Tough Final but doable if you study. Overall great experience. I learned more Spanish in one semester than my highshool years.

Martin's class was very easy and this is coming from someone who has never taken a Spanish class before. He's very kind and playful towards his students which makes the class more enjoyable. The only downside is that there is a lot of self teaching but he does go over questions and explains them further in class.

keeping up w/ cengage assignments & reviewing textbook chapters/notes outside of class is super important! this was my first time taking spanish which made it a little harder since he does call on you randomly, but i'll admit it helped me learn faster. quizzes, tests, & presentations were very doable. super nice & always makes the class laugh!

Martin was such a fun and caring professor. He made every class a good time and I feel like I learned a lot during every lecture. The quizzes and tests aren't bad if you study for them and if you complete all the online assignments you will have an easy time in the class.

Martin is a great professor. He seems kind of intimidating on the first day but he really does care about his students. The homework is very easy and all due at one time so it is not too much. Tests and quizzes aren't hard, there's nothing on them that wasn't discussed in class. Attendance is mandatory but if you communicate you are good.

During specific exams, he would allow us to ask what certain words were in English; he was funny and would usually show up late to class. Very chill

By far the easiest and most fun SPAN class I have ever taken. He makes the class fun and easy going. EXTREMELY lenient grader. He teaches in English the whole time, which somehow made it easier. I wish I had taken him for 101 and 102. He was late to almost every class, and we were always let out early. But he made up for it with a great lecture.

Professor Valle was very fair when grading. Difficult class but his lessons were extremely clear. Taught in Spanish and made clarifications in English which helped a lot. Tests are hard but fair and there were no surprises. I would highly recommend him for you 201 class.

Dr. Valle is a great professor, very helpful, very knowledgable, and ALWAYS makes time to help students who WANT to learn and take his classes seriously. I wish he would teach 102 so I could continue with him. Lots of work but he goes through lectures clearly and gives homework and exercises in class that are extremely helpful.

He's super funny and entertaining but he will not teach you. Actually flat out refuses to teach you sometimes and just tells you to go to the book. But he will always tell you what to expect for tests and orals which is nice.
