Very smart, funny, and enthusiastic prof. Really "understands" the material, and "likes" the material. Has a nice sense of humour and keeps the lecture alive. You won't fall asleep in his class, and time will fly by.

Absolutely hilarious! Vibrant and exciting teaching and demos. Loud and clear, you will not fall asleep! Difficult course but he eased it up. Always smiling, always misspelling and beware his chicken scratch. He won't be offended if you ask him what the heck he jsut wrote on the board. What a joker! Even physics can be funny now!

Thick accent, funny guy, jokes alot, clear examples, makes physics interesting -- who do you know that can do this, short of Bill Nye? Class attendance dropped severely when we switched professors half way through the course.

Excellent prof! Really love physics and is genuinely concerned about students doing well. He is extremely helpful outside of class too and is willing to spend as much as needed explaining things until you understand.

One of the best teachers I've ever had. He explained concepts really well and made the lectures extremely interesting; you never knew what to expect when you went to class! I don't think it's possible for someone to dislike physics after that class!

Guys hillarious and very engaging. He acts intimidating but he's a big bear. He's not just there to teach, he's there to make you learn.

i had never taken physics prior to this class. it soon became my favorite subject all because of his classes. he is hilarious and you can tell he LOVES physics. haha always had a good time in that class.. there was not one lecture where we would not laugh. i have him again for 1070 and its already a great start :p defff best prof everr!

The most engaging, friendly, excitable, and hilarious prof! Hes a delight to be around, and he does his best to keep the material interesting. Occasionally stumbles over his words or glosses over crucial things and the material suffers a little bit, but he definitely available for questions, and will do his best to clarify any issues. Great!

Most engaging, fun, and genuinely interested in making sure students understand the concepts. He's constantly exceeding his office hours to help students with problems. You can get by without reading the text as long as you go to every class, pay attention, and take detailed notes!

If you get Williams you are blessed. He is the most jovial, interesting and engaging lecturer you will ever have in your life! He pumps the knowledge in your head and often times you can go to the quiz room based on his lectures and fly through the questions. HE IS AMAZING! So enthusiastic, smart and prepares you well for quizzes and the final! Theres a lot of writing if you don't come to class prepared, goes through slides very quickly. He is hilarious and helpful, I would take any class of his again! I don't even like physics but he made it fun... which is weird but appreciated.

He actually makes you want to learn more about the things he is teaching you. All of his classes are absolutely hilarious while at the same time extremely useful and essential to passing the course. I'm willing to take another PHYSICS course just to be in his class even though i don't need another physics credit. Thats how good of a prof he is!

Williams is one of the best profs at Guelph. He jokes and says that he hates everyone and that you will fail, but the class is not that difficult for physics. He goes through the material pretty quickly, but lets you know exactly what you need to know to do well on the quizzes. He is hilarious and makes physics less awful. Take this course with him

Willams is a great prof! Had him for the three hour night lecture and he made it enjoyable. I find physics complicated, but he made it understandable. Provides so much out of lecture help - has A LOT of office hours. Also, just a genuinely nice guy who cares about his students - really likes to chat with you just about life.

Very funny and knows his stuff. Makes physics slightly more bearable. I wouldn't say his class was easy by any means but physics is physics.

I went into the course hating Physics and Williams truly made physics as enjoyable as possible. The course is very manageable (5 quizzes worth 10% that you get 3 tries at). Most people go into the final with 100%, but the final is quite tricky! Overall, Williams is one heck of a prof!

Second course taken with Williams as the professor, always funny, always does his best to make the content interesting. Difficult final but it's to be expected.

Absolutely spectacular profs. IT IS WORTH IT TO ATTEND HIS LECTURES. He prepared us so well for quizzes and midterms and most questions we were graded on appeared in his lectures. Super helpful as well, always stays after class and even emailed me the solution to a problem and offered office house when I had a question 2 days before the exam!

One of my favourite profs. Lectures are always entertaining; however, slightly frustrating when you only get through a couple lecture slides each lecture because the he likes to talk a lot. Still an enjoyable class and great prof! Not difficult to get a 90+, make sure to study his examples from notes for the final - you're set if you get those

Williams is HILARIOUS and passionate about physics. He makes it sooo much easier for you to understand physics. He gives you exam questions during the class, and he's willing to help you if you don't understand. Honestly so nice and helpful.

Great prof

Williams is hands-down one of the five best profs I had in my entire undergrad at Guelph. He is passionate and really cares about his students, and he will go out of his way to help you if you get to know him and show you really want to learn the material and do well. He is amazing. I had him for two physics classes and he's just fantastic! :D

Amazing prof! Inspired me to switch into Physics!!

Be prepared for a funny and proud prof. Sometimes he can take a long time to go through certain topics in class, but he makes up the time by picking up the pace later in the semester. Don't be afraid of seeing him in office hours, he's really helpful! Also, he tends to joke with the class a lot, so don't feel discouraged if he calls you out.

One of the best profs I ever had, good laughs in every class and this guy will always make sure everyone understands every piece of content in the course. I hope I have him again in the future

Inspirational professor definitely, makes tons of students swap to majors relating to physics. Has the most entertaining classes possible. Although, he does not focus on examples in class, but rather the concepts themselves, leaving examples to be done by TAs in tutorials.

Knows every detail about his students by the end of semester (including their personal life). Thus, he makes great connections and is very inspirational to all students. Makes many students swap to Physics including myself. Exams are very fair, not too tough, not too hard, but as expected. Explains theory in class, examples for self-teaching or TAs

Favourite professor ever. So caring and just loves to teach so much and it shows. If he knows you struggle with something he will even put in extra lecture slides to explain it. Amazing person, made class so much fun!

Anyone who rates Martin under a 5 star does not deserve to be allowed to rate a professor. Martin is hands down the best physics prof in the world. YES, THE WORLD. This man made each class feel like a comedy central special and made physics fun. Only downside is that he roasts pharmchem but he's an amazing prof and amazing person.

Martin Williams is the best prof I've ever had. He makes every class fun and enjoyable. The workload is difficult but that is simply due to the course content. He is by far the best prof I have ever had, he will help you when you need it. He wants you to succeed as much as you do.

As a chemistry student who isn't fond of physics and has difficulty paying attention, Martin did everything he could have to set me up for success. He always makes an effort to connect with each student and went above and beyond to ensure we passed with knowledge other than just the course content.

The professor's teaching style is amazing, it keeps you involved and somehow makes difficult concepts/topics fairly easy to understand. If you do not understand a concept(s) in class, attend the office hours the professor will work with you until you understand the material/concept(s). Overall, 10/10, great professor!

This guy still remembers my name years later from a class with I think over a hundred people. He can definitely be a yapper, but he really cares about the students he teaches and you can tell he wants to see people happy. Go to his office hours if you have trouble with topics in class (applicable to any class really, highly recommend). Great guy!

Martin is very funny and engaging in his class! He teaches the course well and I would love to have him as a professor again. Only problem is he does not do lectures online.

This professor is able to bring enough energy to the lecture to keep me focused and awake. He does a decent job at explaining concepts, but I do think that he can get a bit off track.

Overall, Martin was a good prof. He did have a tendency to get sidetracked, so we often didn't finish the lecture slides. However, he is funny and you can tell he wants students to succeed (even if he says otherwise lol). His slides were example-heavy, but he usually didn't finish the examples (so make sure you can do the calculations yourself!).
