good teacher, but don't miss class!
Lots of writing, quizzes and a day on the hotseat!! Too much for a lecture class
Final is a make up of previous 3 exams. Easy online work. Quizes for attendance.
answers emails right away even at 2 am. curves grades at the end
This was an okay class, but it was too big
marty rocks, he curves everyones grade up so much at the end
Something like a 16% curve. Really good sense of humor too.

How can people like this guy?!
Tough tests. Curve at the end. D

I failed every test and still wound up with a B. Funny guy too.
you can retake his exams, but they're still too hard. Nice guy who gives you free points and a big curve at the end.
Hated this class. Most boring thing I've ever done. Doesn't really teach as much as ask people what they think things are, and then moves on. He does have a huge curve, but I don't think that makes up for everything else.
great guy who tries to get sutdents interested, but class is way to big.
worked hard and got a c anayway. Good guy in class and helpful online. don't take this class unless its required.
Pretty good prof. The tests were hard, but you have to just read the book and go to class. The curve was great, I got B's on the tests and wound up with an A in the class.
Can retake every exam...easy but boring, hot seat is awful.
good guy and very organized, don't know why nobody laughs at his jokes. do all the free assignments.
I cannt say how much he knows about management or how much managing experience he had, but one thing for sure is that he does not know how to teach!!! His class is boring although he tells about stupid jokes occasionally but no one laughs!
Focuses more on students opionions rather than textbook information. Hot seat sucks but easy way to earn points
Funny Guy. Tests are really hard but there is a MASSIVE curve. Hot seat is a little intimidating.
This class is extremely boring, and he tries to get everyone in the class involved but it rarely works. Tests are very hard, but huge curve.
Good guy who tries to get students interested. Hard tests,so pay attention when he reviews for exams. Teh hot seat's not so bad if you're prepared.
HE IS THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!

He's a funny guy + a great professor. All you really need to do is read the book and take notes on his notes. It is definately a "maneagable " class. He curves a lot too a 50 on the test would basically be a C a 78 would be an A. 80%testonnot
I really disliked this man. A. because it was at eight in the morning B. because his tests were really really rediculously hard and C. he tried way to hard to be funny. He made it up with the massive curve he gave though.
This class has more slides per class than my 3 hour class. Trys to be funny when he's not. You know your in trouble when the syllabus is like 6 pages long front and back. Doesnt really teach anything at all; speeds through the powerpoints.
Don’t know what to make of this guy. he goes a mile a minut in class and doesn’t talk much about whats in the book. then I go to his office and he spends almost an hour explaning the computer stuff I couldn’t get. so many assignments
tests are impossible, he's full of himself, but the curve is worth it
Awsome guy, tries to be funny despite his different taste in humor, but great professor. The tests can be hard, but if you read the material it is not impossible. He gives a great curve. Take him if you can, but be prepared.
teriffic guy, hard class. thougt id' flunk but free points and curve gave me a B. You get lots of points for going to class and doing home work. do hotseat early if you can.
The only professor on this campus that had any impact on me. He detailed what it was and how it was going to be done. Presented info in a clear manner. Laughed at ridiculous jokes he generally made himself but lightened the tedious load of work.
great prof
Yes fogelman is fairly ill. His jokes are actually mad funny, that is amazing for a professor (see sattinger) Class content is alright, powerpoint slides help Tests are fairly hard but curve is like 10% of your grade added on
Lecture center class; not a good class if you arent a morning person; Tests are difficult but the curve somewhat equals out; he has an excercise he does in class called the hot seat which puts you in front of the whole class so he can ask you questions about assigned readings; not a good morn class
It sux that this class is in the morning HOWEVER the curve is huge. I got a an 82, 78, 78 and a got an A! Just make sure you take all the quizzes and do all the assignments!! Thats a guaranteed A!
ok guy and funny, but exams are impossible. I took good notes and did all the reading and had a 78 average on the exams. Got a B + after retanking 2 exams. glad i went to class and did all the assigments. good curve!!
Good teacher, large curve on exams just make sure you do all the online postings do the quizes and do your turn on the "hot seat"
not an easy class and too early. good guy, though and smart. needs to give free points because his exams are so hard. emailed him once at 3 am. and he got back to me before 3:30
his tests are difficult but if you put forth the effort and actually read for every class, you can do well. i got great grades compared to others in the class just bc i took the time to study more than just the night b4 and the curves help too..just make sure u do the previous years tests..its a big
Pretty good class. Just read the chapters in the textbook and do the assignments, and you should do fine. The curve is huge!
Great teacher, and great guy, loved his sarcasm. Sometimes boring, but very easy to get an A in. All you have to do is read the lectures and do the practice tests. Highly recommended!
his tests are really hard and i feel he babbles in class about nothing
"Success = Doing your work and keeping your mouth shut." Just do as he says, i.e. read, come to class and pay attention. Get all the "free points" and you are bound to get an A. Curb is HUGE!!! I got an A and I dont even speak english very well.
I like learning, but his class was extremely boring. I found his tests very difficult. I asked for help and still didn't do better on his exams.
This class was pretty good do the homeworks and go to class for the quizzes that helps your grade a lot. The test are kind of hard but all the info is in the book. There is a major curve. Take this class!
A lot of people dont like this guy but i loved his class and enjoyed his sarcastic comments. I was also the last class to have it at 1 oclock before it got switched to 815 suckers

great guy. just do everything he says to and you'll get an A
gives a lot of free point credits, hot seat is easy, u can say crap in online contributions, gives quizzes and doesnt really care whether u get them right or not
The first week of class he scared me and made em think the class was going to be extremely difficult, but it wasn't. Get all the extra credit points and learn all the vocab in the chapters, that's a good part of his tests. Curves high. Great guy, very sarcrastic, funny humor.
Take him obviously, he's funny, smart and just an all round good guy.
Failed every test, got a 79.4 and didnt give me a B-. HUGE CURVE BECAUSE THE TESTS ARE RIDICULOUS. Hes alright but kinda thinks his dung dont stink.
Excellent teacher. Nice curve. and really looks out for you.
I thought he was great, and he knows how to appeal to students and get their respect. I got an A in the class, and I moved it up from a B, and we didn't have such a huge curve. I think like all the other professors in the Business School, he doesn't get the respect and attention he deserves.
Easy class. Homeworks throughout the semester but these are pretty easy. All m/c tests which are easy if you go and pay attention(which is hard cuz the material is pretty boring) and read the book. Hes funny and tries to make class interesting and throws some anecdotes from his life in which are always decent.all around good guy and class.huge curv
Very Good Professor. The material is boring but he explains everything clearly. The tests are not as hard as people make them out to be. As long as you take advantage of the "free points" then you should do really well in this class
good professor but spends half of class time talking about the millions of previous jos he supposedly had. tests are hard but the curve makes up for it.
He actually assigns seats in a college class. Guy is a joke.
This guy is a joke. I never know what the hell he's talkking about in class. The hotseat is a stupid idea and makes me feel like I have ADD because I have to waste my time sitting through this BS class daydreaming. Why can't he just lecture like a normal professor? I can't stand him one bit and I'm surprised people gave him such a high rating here.
This is guy is so frustrating. I think he is the only professor that teaches this class, so we're stuck with him. The class material isn't hard but some how he manages to make it hard. He has no concept of time management(something he teaches) and runs his class in a ridiculous manner. Hopefully he makes up for it at the end like these others say.
My biggest gripe is the way this class is structured and his teaching style. He is all over the place in his lectures and the hotseat thing he has is more of a distraction than anything. I wish I could absorb least something from his lectures, but so far literally 100% of what I've learned is from the textbook, and I go to every single class.
Marty Fogelman is an excellent teacher. He conveys the material good, and is an overall nice guy. He really tries and is a very honest person. I like the hotseat idea because it keeps the students engaged. I can see how it may distract some students as well. He's a little weird too but who isn't. If you go for the A, you'll get it. Curve adds 15.
Good guy, sometimes hard to pay attention in class though. Attendance is mandatory if you want the clicker points for extra credit. Great curve and and and and and an overall nice guy. READ THE TEXT!!! It definitely helps more than his lectures.
Dr. Fogelman is an excellent professor, one who really cares about his students. The exams are difficult but if you read the text and study the bold typed words you should be fine. The hot seat is an excellent way to get used to speaking in front of a large group, which is important in business. Mixes up the class by having guests in bus. world.
Great Professor, sit in front and pay attention
lecture with 200 and he expects us to have assigned seating? Also hot seat=scary, who wants to get infront of 200 people and get asked random questions "about the text" which half the time aren't even on the text. Decent class I guess, but not for me.
Dr. Fogelman is a good professor who cares about his students. The class was boring at times, and the tests were hard, but a if you put the work in, you'll be fine. I disliked the concept of the hotseat, so I didn't do it and it barely affected my grade.
Fogelman is amazing. Attendance isn't mandatory, but the clicker points help your grade and he gives pop quizzes(right answers don't matter). The class can be boring, but he has a lot of interesting guest speakers. Exams are difficult, but you can get around a 70 and still get an A. Also, you are able to retake any exam at the end of the semester.
clicker/quiz attendance, about 30 something multiple choice questions- with what i would consider very little time, hot seat- you are sitting in front of the class facing them and answering questions, lots of guest speakers- have resumes handy. i found tests to be the hardest even tho you can make it up at the end. just too much info to remember
At first i thought he was out of his mind with the hot seat and the assigned seating. But going to class for the clicker points helps and you dont need to get them right!! The hot seat is 5 direct points added to your grade and the second chance exams is great. Lets you take all 3 exams 2 times then takes the higher grade for them!I Like this class
Great professor! Go to class because there are clicker points for attendance. Tests are fair, just do the readings and look over his slides. He has previous tests available to study off of and it really helps! Easy free points for attendance, short and easy homeworks and the hot seat! Adds nice curve!
Awesome Prof. Very specific on what you need to do on the test to get an A. Great Guest Speakers and he is very passionate on MGT. Easy Blackboard HW and would definitely take again.
Cool professor, you can definitely see that he loves teaching. The HW's are extremely easy! The test are fair! He gives you 2nd chances to retake all 3 exams. I wish I gave that class more attention, I got a B, but it is definitely possible to get an A. Clicker points are important and he does a great CURVE for the final grade!
A very interesting and fun professor. Lectures are mandatory but I actually enjoy going to them. Homeworks are extremely easy and tests are fair with a chance to retake all 3 instead of a final. Definitely a professor worth taking.
Very easy class.sometimes you have to go to the book to look up a vocab word on a power point but otherwise the power points are all you need.the book is small and cheap and easy to read.you get to retake any of the exams (MC) and final is optional.homework's and quizzes are free points. Easy A and interesting class
This class is terrible. The test are not easy like everyone else says here. Let me break it down for you...The class average on his tests are around 80%. If you get around this for your average and get all the clicker points and ace the hot seat you get an A. The test retakes are very hard! Make sure to remember everything in the book.
Great guy, posts everything online. Exams are fair, very short (and instead of a final you can re-take any of the exams). Material is a little dumb, most of it is just adding vocab names to "common-sense" things.
Tests are unfortunately hard. If you want a good grade be prepared to memorize his verbal content during lectures and study a TON.
I really enjoyed this class, although the tests were really hard to study for because they were like 6 chapters and you never knew exactly what the test is on, I didn't mind being there. He lets you retake the tests in the end, so you have a chance at bringing your grade up. Overall he's a Nice Guy.
Anyone who gives this guy a bad rating didn't try hard enough. He recycles all of his questions. Come to class, read the book, and do his past tests and you will get AT LEAST a B; you really need to rethink your collegiate being if you don't.
One of my favorite professors at Albany. He's more than willing to help anyone with questions and tries to make the class interesting by using new technologies like Twitter. The class is fairly easy as long as you read the slides before the tests. He gives you the past 6 years tests. Also lets you retake any of the tests you do poorly on. Take him!
Don't really need the text. Exams are easy because all the info is in his PP slides. TAKE THIS CLASS! Great professor and easy A. Lots of ways to get easy extra credit.
Great guy and easy class. I never openned the book and got an A. He posts all old exams online so just do those over and over again and you will ace each test. He has mandatory clicker questions and for one day you have to sit in front of class and answer questions, but overall nothing to stress about and a good class.
Class is very simple. Takes mandatory clicker points for attendance. Book is not necessary. Exams from the previous 5 or so years is online and all you have to do is review them before the exam. Fogelman is very helpful and will go out of his way to help students. Recommend
Very structured grading system. He asks about 10 Clicker questions every class. They count toward your final grade, so you have to go to class. Overall pretty easy. The only way you wont get an A is if you don't go to class.
I really enjoyed this class. Professor is super helpful and really dedicated to his students. Grading structure is nice too. 3 exams worth 75%, 15% for attendance, 15% for online posts and the HotSeat (Yes 105% total) also he will allow you to retake all 3 exams (somewhat different questions) during finals for a chance of higher grade. TAKE HIM
This guy needs to realise that his class is not the only class you rare taking. The amount of work he expects you to do outside of class is way to much. Tests are very difficult and he thinks he helps his students when in reality he doesn't hurts them more than helps them.
Very unclear, thinks his class is the most important in the world, brings up weird stories about family members, obsessed with 'folk heroes'.If you're reading this, you probably have to take his class. It's a pre-req. Good luck, it's miserable.
He uses too many teaching methods: online videos, online slides, online readings, his recorded voice and lectures. Very confusing and not straight forward. I got 60s on all the tests but left with a B+ so I'm not to upset. Fogelman is pretty funny though. Has a dry sense of humor that most people don't pick up on.
I thought the class was really not overly difficult. He gives free points using clicker. So much so that it can almost be a full grade bump. I like the variety of learning methods because it means ample opportunity to do well. Text was essential for me. Do well so you don't have to take a final! I bet there are worse teachers of this class at UA.
Willing to help students to get the grade that they want. Knew that his 1st test was impossible so he made the other 2 easier. Doesn't leave his office until 6:30PM and sends a mass email of questions students may have trouble w/ (some appears on his exams). Only thing is that there is too much reading. Overall, very helpful and good professor.
Annoying Professor. Homework's are extremely easy and straightforward, but that's about it. His tests are extremely hard and the format is ridiculous. 35 minutes to take a 35 question exam, and he shuts the lights off on you if you take to long. he makes the exams extremely difficult and blames the class when they do poorly. the Hot Seat is dumb
a lot of clicker questions so attendance is mandatory. tests (35 ques) kinda hard, but he has prev years versions online to study from. lots of ppt slides and videos and articles and bs to read on blkboard. he is annoying but class is actually easy if you just pay attn. make sure u come first day of class, he gives a quiz. doesnt let out early ever
He seems really nice guy in the class but in his office he is not that nice. Tests are not very easy. Study old tests, read the book and slides. There was a huge curve like 3-4% at least at the end. Attendance matters, and do the assignments on BB they are easy. Not easy A but definitely easy B+.
Class is easy enough, but you'll feel frustrated at times with the way the course is structured. Thoroughly prepare for each test by making a study guide and doing old exams, besides that, the rest of the class points are really easy to get.
Amazing professor. He can be a little bit sarcastic and rude at times, but he means well in all he does. Need to go to class for clicker questions. Gives clear criteria from the beginning on how to get an A in his class, and if you study you should have no problem getting the A. I strongly recommend going to see him in office hours- very helpful
Professor Fogelman is a great professor. He teaches information that is useful in the work force. He gives previous tests as a study guide (know all parts of the tests, the next years will be similar questions but a different answer). He brings in guest speakers who have outstanding credentials. Hes knowledgeable about the topic. Do the work A
Professor Fogelman's lectures were always all over the place. He uses too many mediums for teaching. He will mention something one time and expect you to know everything about it for the exam. Unfortunately this class is mandatory for business majors and you don't have a choice about the professor. Got an A but a lot of work was put in to get it.
The class is incredibly detailed and involves a ton of extra work. Prof. Fogelman makes the class much harder than necessary and creates a confusing class setup with flip videos and random reading. The review videos are completely unhelpful. I don't understand why he can't just give us the key info and then test us. Be prepared to read EVERYTHING
This class is easy to get by in, just really long to sit through. I didn't take notes once, just would study the slides, the textbook, and his educreation videos that he makes and scored great on the tests. Clicker points are there only for participation, he doesn't count them wrong if you answer wrong
He assigns a good amount of homework through out the semester, but they normally only need to be answered in three to four sentences. Easiest business class you will ever take, you just have to show up for clicker questions or give your iClicker to a friend.
Dr. Fogelman's class was. . . not my style. My class was blended. Be ready for many resources PLUS all the other homework etc. you need to do for half of your grade. Dr. Fogelman does not do a good job of breaking the chapters down. He is scattered all over the place so his virtual lectures and in-class lectures are REALLY hard to understand.
I'm a little biased as our class was at 8:45 and I can't wake up on time. The class was pretty boring, and I was able to get good grades on tests because I took a mgt class at a 2 year last semester. CLICKER QUESTIONS ARE HUGE, and are worth about a quarter of your grade, make sure you go to class! A lot of homework, easy multiple choice tests.
Told him that i left my iclicker at home because of my grandpa's passing. He looked me in the face and said "nothing i can do for you, bring your clicker next time." He doesn't care about his students at all. I've never had a teacher be so blatantly rude. His teaching is monotone and his material is boring. Class drags.
Rude teacher. Makes it obvious that he is miserable in and outside of work. Class is boring. He could care less about any student's outside circumstances. Don't understand how the university allows him to teach the course. He is bland and he has absolutely no idea how to not be monotone and boring with his garbage teaching methods.
Study the practice tests, if you master those youll be golden for the real exams. As long as you get 20/30 on each exam your in line for an A. Go to class and just click in, doesnt amtter if you get it right or wrong. If you take your time on the LS theyre a big help. No final, instead lets you retake all tests and only keeps highest scores.
Class is half on line, good for an 8 a.m. class. Very inflexible on home works and learn smart deadlines, about 60 of them. Do them all on time and youll get at least B. Tests are hard but you get 2 chances. Study the practice tests and go to his office ours for help if you need to. Hes nicer there. Has some great guest speakers.
A lot of outside work but it's easy work, do all the assignments, Learnsmarts, and quizzes. Score decent on the tests and you'll get at least a B. Getting an A is obtainable depending how you do on the tests. Professor is boring but half the class being online is clutch. Have to go to class for the iclicker grade.
