Great teacher. If you are offended by a few swear words- don't take the class. His down-to-earth language is all the better. He livens up the class and makes it fun. Only tests, mid and final-EASY! Dont sweat it. Ask if you have questions. He DOES HELP!! Gotta love Marty. Most Laid back prof award!

This class is a joke and quite frankly the biggest waste of tuition dollars ever. For a 500-level course, I am highly disappointed in the level of instruction that is occuring within the classroom. The instructor is more interested in being liked by students than actually having them learn something.

Marty is hilarious!!! He has many great stories from his past that can be applied to the class. Very interesting class, make sure you go to lab if you want a good grade. Class consists of two exams, a couple quizzes, and two practicals. I highly recommend this class for anyone.

Marty is by far the best professor here at CMU. The guy is hilarious and cool. He will answer all of your questions and give you any help that is needed. Textbook is not used at all. Just bring your power points and you are good to go. I really enjoyed his class.

This class was honestly one of the most simple and easiest classes I have ever taken at Central. I did not even have to try and got an A. He does not grade harshly, especially if you turn everything in on time, and the projects don't take that long either. I would certainly recommend this class if nothing else to use as a GPA booster.

He really cares about his students and would rather see his students truly understand the material and put it into action than memorize facts to do well on a test. He is so fun and always makes me laugh. He also roasts his students, so if you're sensitive go elsewhere :)

Not a difficult class as long as you do the work. There is not an excessive amount of writing or studying required to get a decent grade.

Being an AED and CPR class I was a little nervous at first, but Marty makes you feel very comfortable. The first CPR class we watched the office doing CPR and it made it very chill. He is very funny but also very blunt. He has sooo many stories to tell and theyre interesting. He gives out 5 extra credit points randomly at a lecture. Overall great!!

Great professor, as long as you show up to class and take notes you will get an A. every quiz he gives is open note, and he prepares you for practicals very well. On a side note not related to the class, he also opens your eyes to various career options and makes you think about why you're going to college.

I took him for HSC 205. Overall Marty is a real cool teacher. He is always talking to you and cracking jokes. The only bad part about his class is that the lecture is only offered at 8am. I rarely went to the lectures and still ended with an A. Majority of the points comes from lab from the two practicals for CPR and First Aid all test are online.

Marty was my favorite professor from this past semester! He really takes time to know his students on a personal level and really cares for their well being along with their academic success. He assigns stuff and gives us lots of time to complete them too. Example he gave us a paper and we had at least 3 weeks to complete it! I will miss his class!

Marty is all around an amazing professor. I took this class completely online meaning I didn't go in person. Assignments each week were super easy. Do the work, get a good grade. Often gives full credit on assignments as long as you have all the required material. If you're in the health professions pathway and need a WI, this class is SUPER easy.

Marty is hands-down one of the best profs at CMU. Hes funny, enthusiastic, genuine, and cares about his students. His class isnt difficult, but I still learned a ton from him and remember what I learned, and I took the class 2 years ago. He also encourages his students to visit him outside class, even if theyre not currently a student of his.

Marty is super easy going with his students and easy grader. Beware of his exams. His powerpoint notes do not cover everything on the exams. Take detailed notes on the actual textbook chapters and you'll do great. His exams were open note. He was super easy to work with if you needed any assistance.

I am in my second class with Marty this semester and my opinion has just gotten better. I received a 100% in this class, the exams are mostly from the practice quizzes and super easy. The papers are easy just put effort in and you'll be golden. He is super passionate about the topic and I am glad that he will continue to be my instructor.

I have had Marty for a few classes and I have absolutely loved him for every one. There is usually a small writing assignment once a week and that is it. His lectures are very entertaining and he likes to talk about his experiences as a counselor. Take Marty 100%

Class was easy. Exams and quizzes were all online and open all day or for several days. You can tell (and he admits it) this class is not about getting a good grade, it's about saving lives. The way he teaches the class is really about that. He's enthusiastic about the material and funny.

HSC 205 with Marty is quite easy while also being educational. He is the only professor I would willingly choose an 8 AM for. He is, as some would say, a lot. He is loud and animated, giving life to those early morning classes. He actively wants you to pass and it feels like it. Exams are open book and you can take it with other classmates.

I have never written one of these but Marty is probably my favorite professor of all time so I had to do this. HSC 205 with Marty is easy, fun and educational. He applies the learning material with stories from his past, and it really keeps you locked in at those early morning classes. He really does care for his students and their well beings.

He is the only professor I could bare to withstand at 8 AM. He cares about his students and he is super flexible. Quizzes are open resource. Papers are geared towards exploring what you are interested in. Tells relevant stories. Only covers the basics of each chapter, so be sure to read the PowerPoint slides if you want to truly learn the content.

I had him for pre-med, and he was amazing! Very writing intensive, but he had very clear grading criteria, literally spelled out exactly what to put in the essays. Pretty forgiving deadlines, even though he acts strict, he's pretty chill.

This professor was extremely easy, and he made the course set up easy to access and understand. There's not many assignments, but he grades easily on the ones that you do have. All exams were open book, so that was nice as well. I would highly recommend taking this prof for this course.

Marty truly focuses on saving lives and wants his students to know what to do an emergency, he puts the learning above the grade. This was a super simple course with very few assignments however each assignment is easy to get a good grade on if you pay attention to lecture and labs. Attendance is not mandatory for either. Do not buy textbook.
