Nice prof and very flexible. This was tough material. The prof was too nice and the class was full of nasty selfish students who didn't bother to prepare for class. If they had prepared something they might have learned more. Thanks for helping me!

He acts really nice at first but once you get to know him you will see that he can go over the line with inappropriate comments and insults. He does not respond promptly to e-mails and overall he does not know how to teach the material. If you are registered for his class then i suggest you should drop it.
He does insult u, but sometimes u just have to backanswer him. He wastes him whole time talking about one topic and if u read the book u ;ll be much better off. Coz he ;ll only stress on one topic and the remaining ones he ;ll just fast forward it coz i think he doesnt know much about it. Very unclear and a total waste of time.

I have to disagree with most people about him. He does teach, however in a very relaxed manor. He likes to incorporate topics in silly examples that get mixed up in stories so make sure you read the book so you know what's going on. Most kids in class did poorly on the exams because they didn't realize 1/2 the material was going to be on the tes
If you like wasting time and money this is the professor for it. No matter how nice you think you are in academics this guy will screw you so stay clear or register for another class or suffer like the rest of us who didnt pay head to these warnings.
PLEASE, at all costs, try your best to transfer out of his class. He makes corny jokes that he feels the need to talk about every class: dogs and death. He's such a morbid guy who gets lost in his own tangents and he's the "professor." Even though he wants the best for all his students it isn't enough for a decent grade.

This man is a total clown. He runs around the room like an ass and teaches nothing. He only talks about his personal life and his bad marriage. Not only does he teach nothing but he bases your entire grade on the final and offers no help before hand. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH THIS JERK!!!!!!!

HAHA...I was so nervous all semester taking this guy. I ended up getting a B! Here were my test grades: 18(!!!), 36, 69 (final). He grades competitivley so just don't be the worst in the class. I was so sure I was going to fail that I registered for the summer session. I almost sh*t myself when I saw my grade as a B. Unbelievable....

if you want to lower your overall GPA, then this class is right for you.
I highly recommend this professor. He makes this class very interesting. He doesn't require to attend the class but it is for your benefit not to miss one and follow the examples he gives in class.

I thought Iwas being punked. This class was a joke. Showed up late, unprepared and spent most of his time on topics having nothing to do with topic. Gave out tests that were missing pages for some students and not others. Tests also included multiple choice questions that did not offer correct answer as one of the choices. Completely unprepared!

I sat in this class for half a semester before i decided to withdraw from it. I attended every class and it was as if I never attended any. He never went over homework, and the examples he gave in class were completely irrelevant to the ones he gave on the tests. Tests were hard and textbook was useless.

Excellent interaction with students. Very clear lecturer. Gives great examples to illustrate difficult concepts. Expects students to have read material, but this is college !! Willing to help you individually if you need it. Approachable if you take the time to do so. Exams are challenging.
Yes he can't speak well and teach as good but he cares once u show that u care.. I messed up in almost every test and wasn't getting anything he said but i came to class did his he and participated and he gave me and ever1 a good grade and we were all happy and surprised...
oh man... this is has to be the worst teacher that i ever took. His test reviews are the worst, he will go over two chapter in less than a hr. His lectures were horrible!! He always tell us that he went to sleep at 1,2,3 am from doing his work for his firm and gets up at 5 am to walk the dog but why teach if you have barly time for yourself??!!

Very nice, but moves pretty quick. Biggest problem-- is not being able to understand what he's saying. He tends to blabber at times. Textbook is really the only way you learn in the class. Try to avoid if possible.
prof. gruza was difficult to understand, but he gave his students opportunities to retake exams that they did poorly on. over all i think he is a fair grader and great with curves.

READ THE TEXTBOOK, does not teach enough in class to pass the test, you learn from the text book and doing the homework for each chapter even if he doesn't require you to do so, gives make up exams, has preferred students, his test are not multiple choice, its actual balance sheets and hands on work. If you can understand the textbook take him.

Loves to teach! If you read the book and take notes, his tests are not hard and he gives make ups on the exams you did poor on. He is very helpful and I would recommend him
He is an easy going guy, and is extremely generous with his grading. I basically know nothing and I got a B - in the class. I use to go to class expecting professors to do all the teaching while I do basically nothing. Now that I am a little older I have learned to take more responsibility for myself. You simply need to slowly read the textbook.

Wow the whole class didnt get more then a C in his class. His way of teaching is the WORST. Guys he failed a lot of people for nothing. he gives no curves and he teaches 2 chapters a day. He genuinely wants everyone to learn. He is very lax, but his exams are quite something. He tells you what you need to know before the exams, but does not teach you how to do them properly. Studying straight from the textbook doesn't help much either, it's like he has his own way of solving the problems. However, he is generous with grading.

HORRIBLE! Only teacher in the department that doesnt give multiple choice tests. Gives about 10 Tests per semester plus final. Goes over one chapter a day and tests on it. Class average on final was a 40, and only curved 10 points! do not takee.
First off, he wants everyone to pass. He has no problem failing students who deserve to fail. Very energetic, kinda annoying in the morning tho. Does not properly prepare you before his (hard) exams, but will fully answer/explain any question you have about the exam. Gives tons of extra credit assignments. Go to class, read the book, ask questions.

He's kind of obnoxious and rude. Will call you out for the simplest of things. Walks around class to see if you got the correct answer and will put you on blast if its wrong. Makes jokes and most of the time, theyre not even funny (a few were kind of disrespectful) he wants us to be engaged. Hard to understand him. He needs to enunciate.
Came off as a madman during the very first day of class without even introducing himself or going over the syllabus until the very end; however, this guy really cares about his students. Towards the end of the semester, he literally negotiates grades with students who aren't doing well. Even though his class is difficult, I've learned quite a bit.
if you like 9 minute tests where the questions are read aloud to you, go for it. 3/4 of my accounting 101 dropped out, no more than 7 students showed up for any class after 1/3 the semester

He has forever solidified my belief that there is no good professor that could teach accounting. He rushes through his lessons so fast most students give up taking notes. He's a nightmare as a professor and you leave more confused then you entered. He's a brutal grader and blames the students for not understanding his lesson.
I walked into his class assuming I was going to have the worst time of my life but he turned everything around for me.I now use the things he taught me in my daily life and he even inspired me to go on and major in accounting. He's a caring guy. Most important thing is to be willing to learn, drops low grades, read the txt book and show up for an A

A lot of tests in the whole semester. If you read the book and do the homework, this class is really easy. Energetic in the morning. Get ready to work for his class.

Marvin Gruza is unorganized and just random. He goes off and tells random stories and leaves everybody more confused than when they came in. He expects you to answer a question and if youre wrong he makes you look dumb. His homework is too much and his teaching style is unclear. Just drop or dont sign up youll be stressed.
If you don't do so good(usually majority of the class, averages of 40-60s) he will consider giving you the grade you got for the department final, which is really hard because he did not prepare you at all for it. If you work hard on your own however, ace all of his random exams, he might excuse you from final and give you an A. No partial credit.
Hands down worst teacher at this school. Lectures are scattered all over the place.. He actually held a review session with students from another class DURING OUR CLASS MIDTERM. IN THE SAME CLASSROOM!!! I participated, spoke with him at the end of class and went to his office hours and at the end of semester he still had no idea who I even was.
As other students pointed out Prof Marvin Gruza is all over the place. Most of the lectures are spent with useless information. He loves to talk about random personal life events. If you take the time to learn the material on your own, you have the chance of getting a good grade. Worst professor I had in QC.
I don't recommend Professor Gruza for beginners in accounting. His lectures were not organized at all. Out of the entire fall semester, I think we learned less than 7 days. Off-topic and all of the place.
I like this professor. He is a great professor. He does care for the student, but you have to show him what you can do to get an A. I recommend him. He is fantastic.
taking this guy For summer. Hes too busy. Gets tons of phone calls during class. Lacks communication skills. Just took the test and only 1 person got the answer correct. review sessions are useless. If you cant find a different prof. for class just Quit college and stay home lol. Trust Me you are better off. Exam questions are confusing. NO NO
Nice guy and really wanted everyone to pass, ultimately gave me a C despite my awful grades. Very hard to follow his lessons and often goes off topic. He would give us the test beforehand and just change the numbers and somehow the majority of the class still failed, getting in the 30s-50s range, but really went out of his way to give extra credit.
Took 101 at a different school and was taught differently so when I took 102 I thought I'd be able to catch on from what I previously learned; not the case. Goes off topic way too much, calls out students to answer questions assuming everyone knows, doesn't explain the work, super confusing, Just bc you're an accountant doesn't make u a professor
He is a very good professor who explains each topic in detail. It is important to read the chapter before coming in to the class. He take test and grade it after completing each chapter which are added to students cumulative score. I highly recommend him to all those who are interested in taking Accounting 101.
He doesnt listen to his students or their needs. I do not recommend him. He thinks bc hes an accountant that everyone knows his knowledge at the same pace. Queens College should look into replacing him. Department finals are easier than his
He is really a great professor who cares about his students. You should attend all his classes and read the chapter before coming to class. He take test after completing each chapter and the scores are added into cumulative grades. He is very flexible in terms grading students. I highly recommend him.
Professor Gruza is truly caring and respectful towards his students. He will explain each topic in a clear and easy way and he will ask and make sure EACH OF HIS STUDENTS understands. This is the first time Ive seen in uni a professor asking each of his students to make sure no one is left behind. Its very easy to pass And he is v v considerate!!
So far he is the best prof I had. He makes his class pretty easy and he grades very generously. He is an extremely caring person. If you want to do well and also want to learn accounting, hes the guy you should take. His teaching style is very helpful and easy to comprehend. He will also give you all the extra help and attention.
I honestly wish more professors were like professor Gruza. Till now i actually havent met such a caring and respectful professor in college. He is considerate and will try his best to get you a good grade. He also makes the class very easy to understand and always asks everyone if they understood it. I am taking him again for next semester
When I was struggling with my other courses and inconsiderate professors, Marvin Gruza really stood out as a good professor. He did not just give zeros for late submission or for Internet problems he gave extra days or marked reasonably if a problem happened. He is a very understanding and considerate person. I loved how he cared for everyone of us
He made the subject incredibly easy and also graded in the most generous way possible. I would recommend him because he helped and somehow made online uni enjoyable and I was surprised that I learned so much as I did not learn as much from other online classes. He is very cooperative and helpful.
This professor is an angel. He would actually try his nest to give you as good grades as possible. I did horrible the whole semester and even on the final but I got B+ as he said if he saw little progress hed reward all of it. Hes a very understanding professor. If you want good grades hes the one to go to!
DO NOT take if you don't have at least some accounting background knowledge. He goes WAYY to fast for beginners. His short "tests" can either help or damage your grade. BE WISE WITH TIMING. Expects you to make journal entries quickly but gives decent timing with long entries. Other than that he does care and wants to help his students.

Horrible horrible horrible. Good accountant, BADDDDDDD professor. He does not teach, he makes jokes and rambles. Teaching makes up maybe 13% of the class. Do not be fooled, that 13% is 90% unclear and too fast. That leaves you with basically no reason to come to class except attendance.
