If you pay attention and do what he says like taking notes during every class and read the material, the class will be very easy to pass. Marvin makes the best jokes and keeps class entertaining.

He a tough teacher...but he makes going to class worth it, he always has some story to tell.

You love him or you hate him. He tends to be kinda ****, but he's got some great stories and makes the material fun (or at least as fun as law can be)

Knows exactly what he is talking about. One of the best classes I have ever had. Tells you exactly what you should know. You need to take notes on EVERYTHING he says, but he tells interesting stories that tie into with what you are learning.

by far the best teacher here. knows how to teach the class but keep it interesting at the same time. very funny if you can take his humor.

Marv has definitely been my favorite teacher. Class was tricky, but he kept the material interesting. So entertaining he should be teaching theatre. Touch class, but worth the time.

Yep, what everyone else said. Tough as hell but straightforward. Entertaining to listen to, almost made an 8 AM class worth going to. You HAVE to go and take good notes, but if you do those 2 things you'll be fine. Good class.

Cats, Cher, and Katie Couric. Prepare yourself for a fun time. It may be at 8 AM, but this class will wake you up. Class flies b/c you're either actually LEARNING or dying laughing from one of his hilarious personal stories. Study hard tho, it is tough.

This is a hard class to get a good grade in, but Hill is an great lecturer; he's one of the best professors I've ever had.

He makes the class interesting, but enough about the cats. Some of the stories get old, but they are still better than 75 min. of lecture. Only thing that helped me were the review sessions with the TA's. Ron Richards is the man, I credit him.

Awesome teacher! Very funny... He has a few sayings that you'll get use to... HA!!! Has a story or personal experience to go along with everything he talks about.

HARD CLASS. Lectures are good though. The tests are impossible to guess at so you have to study a lot. Only offers early in the morning though which is torture.

I took this class during the "Civial Action" Days. I cannot beleive this guy recommended a book to me about how to kill people and get away with it.

If you can manage to get to class and pay attention, Hill's class isn't that hard. Just go to the review sections and they will tell you exactly what you need to know. They even warn you on the first day that this class is difficult.

I got a B in this class by studying MY BUTT OFF! A D on the midterm made me get my butt in gear. Study the material, the articles, the online cases, and GO TO REVIEW SESSIONS. I firmly believe going to those review sessions helped me get my B. STUDY! It's NOT EASY!

the worst thing about this guy is he think that he is better than everyone. just listening to him, you can tell that he is not gonna be a real friendly guy. but i didnt think he did a bad job of teaching the class.

Class is hard but not that bad really and its really intresting and he's halarious!!! GO to the review sessions! I got a B. There's only two tests but the TA's review bf both and tell u what to know. Plus there's a huge curve. I def. recomend him though. He's really smart and makes class fun.

I think Dr. Hill was great. He is hilarious. Funniest professor I've ever had. And usually his humorous observations were right, to boot. Difficult class, but the grading scale is very forgiving in lieu of that.

I dont know what you are all complaining about. Hills class was HARD not gonna lie but he actually taught his stuff. You just needed to apply it to real life. It was not all cut and dry like most people expect. i learned more in that class than in any other class. Marvin is AWESOME

He's a good professor, you just have to be prepared for work. It's not Hill so much as it is the class itself. Read the book, go to reviews, take notes, and you'll get an A or B.

Marvin is hilarious with his short bus jokes. His class if tough, but if you pay attention, go to the review sessions, and actually understand the material, you should do fine. I would totally take him again.

This man is an F'n High Roller

(Marvin) Hill is one of those individuals who is given a daughting task, and tries to make the best of it. Business Law is NOT a easy course... slacker beware! But Prof. Hill tries to suger coat the pressure with low-ball humor and weekly reviews (from his TAs). A percentage that he covered did not sync fully with the test.

Great teacher who knows his stuff. Go to class, laugh at his jokes and you'll easily pass, and if this wasn't incentive enough just stare at his hot TA's all day to get you through.

Whether you like him or not, you'll never forget him. His class is difficult , he takes no excuses and he comes across as stone cold. Welcome to planet earth.

he had some hot ass TA's when i had him...kind of a womanizer, although he talks about his "wife at home..." he let me take the midterm a week late to go on a trip to Florida. Read that book he wrote for the class for an east a on the tests

Hilarious! The kind of guy you want to chill with on the weekends but maybe not take a class from cuz his test will kill ya. I also had an incredibly hot TA. I never went to any help sessions but attended all but two classes and ended with a C. Great Guy, good class, very interesting, very hard. He really knows his stuff, this class good for life

Professor Hill is a little full of himself, but he is a very smart guy. He has a great personality and sense of humor. As long as you don't mind talking to TA's and hearing about "his dog Chancy," you will be fine. Study hard, read the texts, and go to class. This is not a blow off class.

This class is very hard but he's a pretty good teacher. He's deffinately my favorite teacher at NIU. If you want to pull off a good grade in his class you pretty much have to be prepared to attend class and review sessions. You also have to study hardcore for the midterm and final.

his class is very hard, but he's a great teacher. it needs to be admitted. if you actually studied the material and went to class you would have done well in his class. too bad he's gone now.. his last class he lectured was kind of emotional, i think he was sad to leave

Amazing teacher...great class. i didnt mind waking up early for this one. No, its not a blow off so you have to show up. He's a verysmart guy, you just cant take his humor seriously. I loved that class!

AMAZING CLASS!!! It's just too bad that he's gone now. I feel sooo lucky to have had him as a teacher. The class is not hard--no homework, no assignments, just tests. But, you only need a 70% to get an A! So I have no idea why everyone else is saying that it's hard. You must have NEVER showed up to say that.

This guy was great. Almost ten years later and I remember all of his lectures! I think the important thing to keep in mind is that Prof. Hill is an amazing wealth of knowledge (read his bio sometime) and he expects a lot form his students. Not a bad thing! Listen to his lectures and read the textbook on your own time.

I had Hill for business law 20 years ago 1993. I am a successful tax lawyer in Chicago. In reviewing my old professors, if you want to be a lawyer, take this class. If you want to be a successful lawyer and/or business leader, believe me take Hill. He is tough. But he knows how to teach.

He was the most motivating teacher I ever had. He encouraged me to become a lawyer and was inspirational. He changed my life and believed in me.

I wish he still taught honestly. I took his Business Law class in 2005. I was a little scared beforehand because so many people said he was so hard. He was tough, and challenging, but I found I was more engaged with that class than any other I've ever taken. Hilarious guy. Test are hard. I got a B. LOVED IT. He truly made you think.

Out of all my college teachers Dr Hill was the one who made the most impact on me. What he really taught was how to be a critical thinker. There was the academic stuff and the life lessons based on his experiences for those who listened. My class focused on the book The Reckoning, but his lectures were great in terms of imparting wisdom.

Dr. Hill is a professor who imparts valuable life lessons. His lectures go beyond the textbook, focusing on critical thinking and wisdom from experience. The class is challenging but worthwhile - Unstuck ai and other study tools can be helpful.
