OMG!!! do NOT take this class with this Prof....
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS! She doesn't know what she's talking about! She is horrible at explaining and very confusing. Everything I learn from this class, I learn by my own. That will be what you'll have to do.
Don't take her class! Very unclear and confusing. She just read the text in the class, and don't answer our question.
Mrs.Dolan thinks she knows what she's talking about but all she does is confuse you and herself.She wants you to learn accounting her confusing way only.The only good thing about her *she reviews before every test ( which are evenly easy & hard) and if you do the practice online test you should do well.*
Don't listen to all of the bad comments here! I took Mary's class for all three I. II. & Managerial. She is very helpful and will always respond to your questions via e-mail. She reviews the tests and gives you specifics on what to concentrate on. If you can't pass her class you just didn't want to do the work.
Mary is a great teacher! She is very helpful and her grading is very clear. She helps you study for important points on the tests and her projects are interesting. Just read the text and do the online homework and you will pass! She is always answers e-mails to answer questions.
Dolan is the WORST! I just got home from class tonight and I can't stand to sit in her class. She has no interest in students & she never smiles. Pretty depressing to add to boring accounting. She has attitude and doesn't know what she is teaching. She is not fit to be a teacher. Believe all the bad comments. Take applebaum or someone else!
Terrible professor if you actually want to learn anything. A horrible teacher. Lectures were ramblings that ventured into topics she clearly didn't understand. On the upside she reviews for every test, so if you study what is reviewed you can pass the class pretty easily. If you are a Finance or Accounting major look elsewhere to gain knowledge.
Professor Dolan teaches exactly what you need to know for the test and accounting in general. She is very nice and not confusing at all. People who left her negative comments probably did not do well in the class on their own account.
I took her ACG2001 class horrible teacher!!!..I dropped it before i got deep into the semster...
Where do I begin??? She's OK in a sense of not being a pain in the a*s. She give bonus points that goes towards the exams, and she helps with questions on the exam. She OK, but if you need to be spoon feed, then take someone else. If you can learn on your own, then take her at least you'll get a C for showing up to class.
Agree with the comments. Teaching is not Professor's Dolan call. She is self-centred and dedicates over 20% of the semester to talk about her personal life. Reads directly from the slides, skips examples and answers questions evasively. She doesn't seem to be very knowledgeable but overall she not the worst teacher and her intentions are right.
Professor Dolan seems to be a good accountant, but not the best teacher. She just kinda reads the powerpoint and does a few problems with you. However, she gets really upset if you don't understand quick enough. She does give a really good test review, tells you basically what will be on the test. You need to learn the stuff on your own to do well.
Prof. Dolan lectures you for about 30-40 mins about the importance of accounting, and that "you guys don't study" every class prior starting the actual school work. She is not very helpful outside of the classroom, doesn't seem to care much about the student. If you have no prior knowledge of accounting I don't recommend to take her class.
Had her for both Acg2001 and Acg 2011 teaches directly for the book does a few problem in class,she provide extra credit.Homework is a must to get a passing grade in the class may get a C, talks alot about her family and loves Accounting and her field but teaching is not her best field overall you will get a good story in the class.
She is not as bad as the other comments say. She gives extra credit. I got an A but I don't recommend her, talks more about her personal life than accounting. There great accounting teachers who teach better than she does.
I took Prof. Dolan for acct 1, 2, & 3. There's a bit of truth in all comments, but she is VERY FAIR. If you put forth the effort, attend each class you will pass. Great reviews prior to tests, gives helpful "life" examples to help you relate-esp. in acct. 1&2. Don't miss class or you'll be lost!
She's ok, lectures are boring and not very clear but, but her reviews prior to the test are very very helpful. Make sure you read and study the reviews. If your having trouble passing her class and she sees that your trying she will help you out. she's not that bad.
She isn't good at teaching, but she does give extra credit. It's not the easiest A, you'll have to work for it. Her classes are made up of 6 tests and 9 Homework assignments and she drops the lowest test so therefore since i had an A i didn't go to the final. Nobody really liked her teaching style but just do the homework and do good on the tests.
As long as you attend class and pay attention you will pass the class. She does go over everything that is on the tests so be sure you study and you'll do well.
I took Professor Dolan for ACG 2001 and ACG 2011. She was a lot better in the second class than the first. She would not review homework questions in the class but she does give extra credit and will tell you what to expect on the test but you have to be able to help yourself.
She is very fair and tells you exactly what is going to be on tests. She's nice but firm with a few things. she does not take attendance but I suggest you stay and attend all classes. Also she gives extra credit. Taking her for accounting 2
She was very fair and told us exactly what we had to learn. Practice problems in class really helped. Homework doesn't count for much other than to boost your grade if you're on the borderline. Taking her for accounting 2 now. She's a good teacher.
Professor Dolan may be a good accountant, but she's not a good teacher. At times she wasn't very clear or helpful. You'll find yourself doing most of the learning on your own. The one good thing about her was that she would tell you exactly what to study for the test and she was fair grading.
Prof. Dolan knows what shes doing, but she doesnt teach very well or explain things completely, she doesnt teach everything thats on the hw so you have to teach yourself how to do the problems, but overall an ok accounting teacher if theres no other choice
A waste of students time and FASA money. Do not take this classs at BC if this was the only lecture.She tells the class not to take any other course while taking her class,i did not know that this was a BC requirement.She structures the class work and assignments to make it impossible to take and pass any other course. I loved Professor Dolan! She always made class so entertaining! Her lectures are kinda pointless, since they're off powerpoints, but she gives you worksheets and goes over them with you. Tells you what you need to know before the test, so STUDY! If you study and pay attention, it shouldn't be a hard class.
She very. She takes her time in explaining things to you. I very much recommend her. Her lectures are pointless though, however, she does give worksheets that really helped me out. I got an A :)
Very time consuming class. Spent lots of hours at the lab trying to get the wiley homework right.She kept repeating: "You guys don't study. You are going to fail miserably". That's pretty discouraging for me who studied a lot.
She isn't a bad professor. People who are writing bad reviews about her obviously don't understand accounting. It isn't for everyone and is challenging. I study hours a day. I'm still taking this course and am pretty confident I'll get an A. She doesn't get back to your email's anytime soon and doesn't post the assignment grades on Blackboard often
I took her for the first half of summer 2011 and got an A. I taught myself most of it, but she was pretty useful. Very fair teacher. If you failed her class it is your fault, not hers.

Too much assignements, not enough time to complete them or study. She does inform you that this should be the only class you take...She is nice and kind, but not enough explantation on how to do the process..Wiley assignements are usually harder then her worksheets
All these poor comments about her come from people that appreciate an open book test and don't take studying seriously. If you REALLY want to learn acct, Prof Dolan is the right person. I took her for act 1, 2 and managerial. And It's a lie that she says for people not to take any other class. The person who told that misunderstood things for sure
Take this into consideration when reading negative comments about this professor. I personally spoon fed students what will be on her tests by sending study guides prior to tests that specifically focused on her tests. On test mornings I still hear people say "hey man, what sections do we study for the test?" Dont take accounting if you're stupid.
Ms. Dolan should not be teaching. You basically teach yourself the material and she tests you on how well you taught yourself. Anyone that leaves a positive comment is her teacher's pet. Beware of her I took one test received a 68 and after she revised was 88 I wonder why. Plays favorites and always degrades students by saying they are not studying
She should not be a teacher, if u ask her a question her answer is always" did u read the book, its in ur book' she is not helpful at all. she favors some people for some reasons. If u take her class be prepared to be on ur own.
Mrs Dolan is great! for her test she'll tell you exactly what to study for each chapter, you have to study and do homework, but guess what is the same for all teachers, so you're better off taking her! material is not easy. She also has an optional final to make up for any test if you didn't do good. She's fun and her class is fun! I recommend her
She's the most confusing teacher I've ever had. She mostly taught using the old textbook but had us doing the Connect which would teach us a different way. She's not that great at giving directions and goes through practice problems so fast. Take Applebaum.
Many people in my class dropped out about halfway through the semester. The material is a bit difficult if you aren't the type of person that cares about getting an education or learning. Prof. Dolan wasn't the best lecturer and at times got off topic especially with personal stories. I received an A. I care about accounting though
All and all she was a very easy professor for a subject that is slightly hard. I didnt come to class once and just showed up to take the tests. Final grade "A" If you take her make sure to do the homework it is a life saver
She is one of the WORST professors I have ever had. She doesn't respond to emails, and has a really bad attitude. I'm a straight A student, and it's not the material...she is just a genuinely BAD professor. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. Do whatever you can to avoid her class.
She knows her stuff and covers the material well. Very helpful. I thought class was easy, but it seemed like a lot of other people struggled. Definitely time consuming to do the homework, but I didnt find anything too difficult

Professor Dolan has a system, be very easy to pass as long as you do the work. Uses Connect which can be time consuming and one can easily fall behind if not consistent.Tends to get off track at times but does conversate about current topics dealing with accounting. Pretty straight forward class, nice personality
Very nice teacher. You will learn but you have to do the CONNECT homework and you get graded on your completion. She does let you know exactly what will be on the test so you can study more effectively. And she will drop your lowest grade. I'd say she is a very fair teacher. Her classes are entertaining, she has a great sense of humor.

Amazing teacher! Accounting is a hard subject but this professor makes it very easy and understandable. A lot of people on here are complaining about her using power points but the first thing she says when she walks in the first day is how she has to use them to teach. Its not her decision. She makes sure everyone understands before she moves on.
Too much talking makes it hard to learn anything so it would help to stick to accounting. Need to work very hard on your own.
She gets to the point and gives useful examples. She is easy-going. She gives an accurate study guide for her tests, do once you use that and do well on connect you will get an A.

She is not one the best professors at Broward College, but she is fine! Her classes are entertaining. You will definitely learn a lot form her. She is a very good teacher, she knows her subject very well. I enjoy her classes. Not, for lazy people!

Well, she is better than her sister ten times, and more beautiful, and easier. Difficult class.
She's a very nice teacher, and a good person at heart. But she honestly can't teach. Im taking her write now and i enjoy her lectures on the subject, but don't expect to learn anything out of them because she rushes too fast that you don't get a chance go deep into the topic. WARNING: YOU WILL BE TEACHING YOURSELF. I'M NOT EVEN EXAGERRATING
She's a very sweet person and is always willing to help. I took her in the winter but dropped because I felt so confused. But I decided to take her again in the summer and passed with a B. But it takes effort. YOU MUST STUDY
She is a nice person but teaching accounting should not be her thing. she talks way too much about things that are irrelevant to class, doesn't give accurate test reviews, and wrote of all she doesn't write on the board! she reads it out of the book and gives you worksheets. you really have to study on your own and allow connect to teach you.
She is very serious that you learn the material. She wants you to understand what leadership is all about. Attendance is not mandatory, but if you miss class she will take points. One group project. A few discussion and thats all.

Tough class, great professor. She explains it step by step, and if you dont get it, you can ask her during office hours! Explains everything clearly!

She has a habit of getting off-topic and talking about her personal life instead of wrapping up the lesson material. The class was easy to pass but even with that being said, I wouldn't willingly take another class led by her.
Professor Mary is one of the best professors at Broward College just attend class , take notes and do the discussions and you will receive an A
Very caring and knowledgable professor. Can be VERY condescending at times, and other times a bit arrogant, but all-in-all, she does care DEEPLY about her students and strives to make you understand the material. Teaches the material in a practical way, that can be utilized realistically.
Understands the material is hard but makes it easy to understand.

Summer- fast class only 6 weeks. You have to work but you will do well.
Professor Dolan tends to go off topic, and only reads the slideshows word for word, skipping the explanations. The majority of my class is failing and struggling, but she continues to blame it on us. If you can take a different professor for this, please do. The class itself isn't bad, but she doesn't teach the lesson well. You teach yourself.
Not sure what the previous post is- other than not attending class which is a huge problem. Great in class assignments to review the material. If you work hard it pays off!!
Great class very entertaining. Do the work and don't miss class and you will do well. Extra credit is great study material for the test.

This professor was amazing. I loved her style of teaching. She always gives real life examples of what we are learning in class. Ill for sure be choosing her to be my ACG2011 teacher.
Professor Dolan was great, I took her class for six weeks, it was a lot of work but if you keep on top of your homework and study for all the tests you should be fine. She does get off topic sometimes but normally she tries to relate it to her experiences as an accounting or with something that is happening around the world.

With her I realized how important it is to have THE BEST ACCOUNTING teacher :) She cares about her students if she sees that you try. She makes everything so you understand accounting. took her for 6 weeks, everything is through Cengage at home. You can find test and even homework answers on chegg. Never went to her lectures, she never took attendance just go the first few days to set up cengage correctly. If you're looking for a class to just pass this is it.

She was extremely rude and showed up late to every class. We were clearly not a priority and she would berate us on punctuality on the rare occasions when she would show up on time. Interrogates you about common issues and assumes that you're lying when all she does is discuss her personal life in class. In short take personal finance online.
Does not put any grades in until the class has ended so there is no way to tell if you are passing or not. I simply asked her what my grade would be and she was extremely rude about it. You can tell she does not like her students by the way she treats them.
I am still in the middle of her class, actually just started. I unfortunately would not recommend because she does not responds to emails, she does not explain thoroughly everything. I have taken online classes many times, but not like this. Multiple message left by many students about the same issue and still no response. Please don't take her.
Fast-paced summer class- if you want to learn accounting she knows her material. Good examples that are used for the course- she loves to use Amazon. Tries to make accounting relatable.
She's nice, but she's one of those professors who doesn't care if you're failing or not. Not lenient at all. Do ALL of the work in Cengage and study for the tests.
Unreasonable and rude. There are those who care about their students success, especially trying ones. This is not her! MyLab was down and caused assignments to be missed. Although confirmed with MyLab about the issues,Mary refused to assist in allowing student to retake the exam and complete the assignments although it was not the students fault.
AWESOME Professor! Great communication with students even though an issue occurred beyond her control. Went above and beyond for students to succeed in the class even with an issue- constant communication until the issue was resolved. Will be taking her for Quickbooks- can't wait for the fall.
Only thing I can really complain about is her lectures. They are long winded and can be monotonous, but it was fine to take her online class and play videos at higher speeds. Material is interesting, mostly do discussions and reading. I appreciate that she lets you pick a few assignments to skip in case a topic may trigger you.
Very disappointing with the effort barley given by the instructor. Arrived late/ dismisses early every class. Condescending way of speaking to students when they ask questions. Brings up Amazon as an example but tells us to picture mom and pop businesses. I will not take any more courses that she teaches. Better off with another professor who cares
I dropped the class within a week. The course immediately felt confusing and overwhelming, and the professor was not helpful when I reached out.
The honest reason why I would take her again is that she doesn't give proctored exams for every chapter. But while being away her audio wasn't good at all and always blamed it on us. So we had to end up teaching ourselves accounting through the videos provided by mylabs.
I enjoyed her class. She makes the course easy. All she did was give lectures by going over the PowerPoints and doing the math examples. She is good at teaching the material and I find her easy to understand. No proctored exams and extra credit assignments for each chapter. I would take her again.
Solid accounting professor. Very lecture based so it's not for everyone but if you self study you'll be fine.
Graded mostly on tests, there is extra credit. Prof. was a tough grader for discussions. Class isn't to difficult if you take notes using the videos on mylab.
Professor Dolan is a tough grader, many of the students put in a lot of their effort, time, and sources into the discussion post just to receive a 74% despite there being no grammar errors, followed the rubric, and making it detailed and perfect. She apparently is not nice when it comes to responding to emails too. Most of the class didn't enjoy it
She is a good accounting profesor, is she demanding? yes but i feel its necessary for the course load, i took her for all my accounting classes and i walk out confidently knowing i understood the material. You have to show up to class and there's a good amount of hw but shes a good teacher

Plenty of pop quizzes, beware. But the professor is a great person and lectures very well.
Professor Dolan is knowledgeable, but her teaching style may not suit everyone. The class is lecture-heavy, so be prepared to self-study. Unstuckstudy and other resources like ChatGPT can supplement the learning experience.
Feels like high school—only 2 allowed absences, and you have to ask for excuses like kids. She's always late but gets upset if you're a minute behind. Lecture-heavy, constant pop quizzes, passive-aggressive, unhelpful, and inflexible. Wouldn't take or recommend her.

I would recommend her for all accounting classes. I took for all 3 courses and learned a lot. Real life scenarios make it relatable. Strict with attendance though.

Very Strict. Not very understanding with lates and absences. Timeline of the course is weird. Like if you learn half the chapter in class that week, you're expected to take a test on the full chapter that same week.
Strict and hard but you will learn accounting. Good real world examples.
