Very useful and fun course. She was always willing to help.
This teacher plays favorites. She obviously is not comfortable with herself so anyone that flatters her in anyway she loves. But if you are attractive in anyway (male or female) she doesn't like you. She belittles anyone she doesn't like and doesn't grade fairly. I hated this teacher!
she is Intersting, that's for DARN sure, but easy as hell. don't take her if you want a challenge.
Heavy writting assignment load, but such is the nature of this course. Routinely changes due dates and accepts late assignments, which can be agrivating if you do your work on time. If you do the work on time you should not have a problem passing the class.
shes amazing

Mary is an absolut riot! She is one of my all time favorite professors. Take her class!

aldridge is a bad ass!
This was one of the greatest Classes I ever took, besides the U2
Took online class. Very nice and very fair. I wish I had a chance to meet her. Definately recomend though. She is probably one of the nicer teachers.
Dr. Aldridge is a wonderful teacher with loads of enthusiasm and intelligence. She makes every subject more interesting (and loves U2!).

Dr. Aldridge was hilarious. Although when she usually thought we were laughing w/ her, it was at her. I hated the subj. but had to take it for my major. She wasn't easy to approach bc of fear of being made fun of. Her twisted sense of humor made the horrible subject more bearable. She's a fair grader too. Plays favorites in class but not in grades.
i took a honors class with her, and the class was lots of work. if u r willing to work ur butt off, u can bear this class.
I took Dr. Aldridge's online ENG 102. It was a very straight forward class. Assignments were easy to understand and were spread out over the semester. Total of 4 essays during the regular semester (the last essay is combing essay 2 and 3 and adding a section). Do the work, get it in on time, and you should have no problem getting a good grade.
Phew, she's a tough cookie. Her online course is very straight forward and she expects the essays to be written very well. Her critiques are helpful, but sometimes blunt, but overall, she's there to help you succeed.
DR. ALDRIDGE IS A FUN TEACHER. SHE IS REALLY FUNNY, AND YOU WILL ENJOY THE STORIES THAT SHE TELLS. THE CLASS WAS 'ALRIGHT" THE SUBJECT WAS TOO BORING, BECAUSE IT WAS MOSTLY POETRY. BUT OVER ALL IT WAS A GOOD CLASS TO ATTEND! WE HAD TO DO 3 ESSAY AND THE MIDTERM AND FINAL EXAM WERE TAKEN HOME. HOPE YOU ENJOY HER CLASS!
She was very interesting. Tended to be on the offensive side. Plays slight favorites in class, but seems to grade equally. Very interesting class.
Those who liked her class must be her favorites. YES, she plays favorites. If you don't care about the material and just laugh at her stupid, unfunny jokes, you should do fine. Oh, and agree with everything she says. She told me directly "that it's hard to grade fairly when you don't like someone in your class." You'll know if she doesn't like you.
The instructor challenges people to be sheep. Anyone who thinks outside the box or likes to think for themseleves will struggle in the class.
She was cool for the most part and she is a good teacher
she was a good teacher. A little sarcastic but she wasnt hard at all.. easy class subject was boring but overall it was an EASY CLASS i got an A
Pretty good teacher. Alot of reading but fair grader. Pretty funny, Its cool that she can speak french so when we studied alot of the artists she could say the french words right. Not bad class. I passed with a B.
She was very rude. I stayed quiet for the whole semester because if you said an opinion she didnt like she was very rude. I got an A, overall pretty easy class. You need to write alot. She says you need to read but I didnt do any of the reading, just basically looked for the answers.
She is so rude its ridiculous! I am currently taking Honors ENG 101 with her and she plays favorites. Her grading is unfair and she is down right rude. She calls you out in clas for things and if you dont share her opinion you basically get black listed. I would never take another class with her.
Took the class online, and it wasn't so bad. You have to submit 4 major papers throughout the sem. and some short homework's every week. She is responsive to emails and gives you advice on the mistakes you made in major papers. Just submit your homework on time and put reasonable effort on major papers and you'll do fine.
Feedback is one thing but she clearly expected everyone to write in her style. If you didn't you were wrong. Criticism almost personal at times. Played favorites big time. But she's a community college lower level english prof so what do you expect.
Online class. She was very clear about what she wanted.
She is fun, opinionated woman. I rarely walked out of her class without something to say. Easy A if you do all the assignments and speak up in class.
Took the online course. Very little communication.
A little tough. Honors class. You won't have homework for awhile but when you do it's piled on. Lots of writing. I didn't speak up much but got an A. Just be a good student, come on time, take notes, turn in everything on time, and put extra effort into the 2 written exams. Exam was openbook and takehome. On the exams, make definitions at least 3 sentences, short answers a paragraph and the essay a page. 1 issue. The presentation with a partner really should've been an individual assignment.
Dr. Aldridge was a great professor as long as you attend class do your work and turn it in on time you will have a great grade outcome! I am actually taking her ENG 102 online class. In the HUM 251 class it teaches you how movies are made in the different angles and lighting of the camera shot very intresting class. Not boring at all!
Very interesting teacher. I learned a great deal and will definitely take her again if I can. Show up for class and do not be late because she hates that. Turn your work in on time and listen and you will do fine.
It has been a few years, but Dr. Aldridge is one of the best teachers I've had. She's smart and funny, making even the most basic lessons interesting. I went on to take her for two other classes. A very fair grader who is always open and willing to help. One of the best.
Really easy class just participate in class and do ur major assignments Easy A
I loved this class. My husband and I took it together Monday nights and it was a lot of fun. Dr. Aldridge is funny and we had a lot of fun discussions. She's a fair grader, is clear on her assignments, and the work is fairly easy. I recommend her!
One of my favorite teachers!! She really understands what shes teaching and made it fun. Class was easy too!
She was incredibly interesting and funny, you can see that she takes enormous pride and joy in what she gives her students to learn as well as being a fount of information.
She did not communicate her directions well, nor did she grade fairly. Overall I do NOT recommend her.
Dr. Aldrige is a nice lady. She is really funny and interesting to talk too. Most of our class was spent talking about life more than litterature. But when she figued out that none of us were reading the assigned material, she started to crackdown a lot more. I would definately recommend this class if you like poetry
The entire class is lecture, but the midterm and final are take home. The teacher herself is insecure and she lets it interfere with her teaching. She is unorganized and treats students poorly unless they suck up, a lot. I would never recommend her class to anyone.
Mary is a great teacher. She's a stickler, but definitely has a good side. She canceled class a few times, was occasionally lenient on assignments, reduced the final to less work. She's a sweetheart, just do you work and don't be an idiot.
Worst teacher I've ever had. Gave poor grades on papers, and ignored my emails asking for constructive feedback. Improving your writing was impossible with this teacher because she was apathetic about every assignment. I've never met a teacher with as poor communication skills as this one.
The lectures are entertaining but she just re-reads the works she assigns you to read. She then explains them in her terms. She has strong opinions, but if you can hold your own, she will respect you. Assignment load is heavy at first but then she forgets to assign anything after mid term so do good the first half of the class.
Very sarcastic and loves to treat her students like junior high students. She will literally call you out in front of the class for something as stupid as checking your phone. She doesn't know what she's talking about and just re-reads everything directly off powerpoints and failed to ever answer any of my emails I had for questions.
Took this course over the 5 week Winter Intersession. Easiest 3 credits ever! Journal every day and and write three personal essays. Professor is considerate and helpful with the critique of the rubric. Do yourself a favor and take this course with her!
I took her Honors course and found it unnecessarily tedious at times--make sure to listen to her instructions for every assignment/essay. Overall, not a hard class. We even watched a movie for a couple class periods~
Dr. Aldridge was great! I took her Children's Lit class online. She was very clear about what she expected from her students and if you had any questions, she was quick to respond via e-mail. Her grading is fair. There is a lot of reading required, but if you do the work, you will pass easy. I took another course because she was so great.
She was not entirely clear on what exactly she wanted in her papers. Very confusing teacher and a bit rude when I asked a question about an assignment.
Dr. Aldridge loves English Literature, so she was very upbeat about the class. She is very strict regarding cell phones and anything childish. (She will call you out in front of everyone). Just listen to what she teaches, read the assignments and you will get a good grade.
Personal And Exploratory Writing class...I didn't want to take it, it was one of the few writing classes that met the requirements for my degree program. This was hands down the WORST college class I've taken so far. There is no instruction. She teaches nothing. NO-THING! Yet she still grades essays harshly even though she has taught you nothing
Easy A class. Had take home quizes and the only quiz you did in class was the final. a big weight of your grade is participation and HW so don't think you can ace the tests and pass. She is will to adjust class and address concerns to help everyone. Has tons of knowledge about French culture and language.
Class started off great. Her sarcasm went a bit over board and it then became disrespectful. She does call you out infront of the class and thinks it's funny. Won't take her again. After all this is college and not kindergarten
Mary Aldridge has a great grasp of of film and wants to share with the students. You are expected to be prepared, even though I found the class a little easier than expected. Watch out for the sarcasm! She definitely makes you want to participate and gain something from every class!
Super easy class, but definitely a lot of reading. Textbook IS NOT needed, I actually wish I didn't spend the fifty dollars on a used book. There's a great opportunity for extra credit that you should take up on because it can completely override any zero you took during the semester. Zero papers, easy assignments, it's an easy A.
Dr. Aldridge is one of my favorites. She's funny and always super insightful. Easily accessible outside of class and always willing to help.
This class is easy but she is a horrible teacher. As long as you do the daily assignments, which is a short 250 word journal, you will pass. She does not give feedback that will improve writing, she will just tell you what you did not do. If you do not write to her standards (which she doesn't give) you'll get a C on the three Essay's but will pass
Talk about a teacher who is politically correct. Don't dare voice an opinion that is different than her ultra Liberal rant. She gives higher learning a bad name. If she wants to punish people whose opinions differ from hers, she should go to a communist country. Threatening students about their opinions is just wrong.
She was an okay teacher - rambles a lot, but genuinely cares. Really tough grader but gives you the chance to make up lost points on papers. Responds to emails in good time frame.
For an online class she was sure rude when responding to questions. It kind of took me aback because after all, online classes are basically self instructed so obviously people will have questions. Not very hard however she requires way too much in my opinion. For example, a one sentence question discussion board MUST be answered in 250 words.
I had Dr. Aldridge for Honors ENG101 and she is so hilarious, fun, and a great teacher, which made me enjoy her class. She is accepting and understanding of all students. When it comes to essays, though, she is very tough at grading and doesn't hold back when giving feedback. It is hard to receive an A+ on a paper. I barely used the textbook.
Dr. Alridge is very knowledgable and is available for students if you have any questions. Take good lecture notes and ask questions. Absolutely loved this class
I took her for film and she was awesome!! She is super funny but professional and intelligent and really engages in the material. I felt comfortable asking questions because she did not make you feel stupid but rather build on your veiw on something instead. Most fun class I have taken at MCC!!
Aldridge is AMAZING. This class was so easy. Midterm and Final was a take home and super easy. Didn't need a textbook and didn't need to take notes. The class was so relaxing and only had 2 presentations that were group based. Criteria was super chill and most days we would listen to music, watch movies, and talk. If you want an easy A, this is it.
Dr. Aldridge cares about her students. You'll need to pay attention to the lectures and take notes. Details matters, some of them are on the midterm and final. Dr. Aldridge has a wonderful sense of humor, I enjoyed her class of Humanities through the arts. At first I wasn't sure if I'd chosen a class for me, after the 1st week I knew I did.
I want to begin by saying that I'm blessed to have had the opportunity to have such a great professor. I had her for my online children's literature class and it was pretty easy, I highly recommend Dr. Aldridge!!! I will be taking her for ENG 102 , can't wait! As long as you try and do the assignments you will pass!
Dr. Aldridge is an amazing Professor she enjoys the subject of humanities and she teaches as well as explains it with passion. If you are having trouble understanding anything, just ask her to repeat or explain in a different manner. Dr. Aldridge cares about her students. I absolutely appreciate & recommend her.
Teacher gives too much homework. I'd like to see her to all the homework she gives out.
Class time is easy; you just listen as she talks about politics and youtubers the entire time. After not learning a single thing in class, she gives you three essays to write. The instructions and mandatory criteria are very confusing, and if you dont submit exactly what she wants, then you will get a bad grade. Very hard to do good on essays.
Dr. Aldridge is a great professor. She knows her lectures so well. Hilarious, many jokes. A group project about Shakespeare and watched a movie. Clear powerpoints, a lot of paper for lectures and classwork. Most of the answers for tests are in the slides. Respectful. Listen carefully in class. 2 tests total, mid-term and final.
She gives out a lot of work, so beware. Not only that, she is a tough grader. Prepare to spend a lot of time in her class. As a person, she is very nice and funny.
She was very rude multiple times over email when I asked her questions on a few homework assignments. She grades very hard and gives out a lot of homework.
Class time was just her talking about how much she hates the Kardashians and if you missed class you get points taken off. very rude on her feedback and grading if you don't give her what she wants.. automatically bad grade. Would not take her class again.
very tough grader, if you follow her advice your grade will boost though. LOTS of hw with 250+ word answers. Very helpful if you email her for advice on papers. STAY on top of work, its easy to fall behind. She goes go off topic a lot, I wouldnt take live-online or in person for her class. Overall not a bad teacher, shes just very particular.
She expects you to know when she wants you to write formal papers. She had a word count for EVERYTHING and if youre off even one word she will give you a zero for it. When there are papers she will never tell you if she wants it as a formal paper or not but be known if its over 500 words you HAVE to treat it as one or you will be docked majorly
Had her for FRE101 & 102 and loved every minute! She's so funny and kind and gives amazing and helpful feedback and grades quickly too. I wish I had taken her for some English classes. She's the only teacher I remember from MCC looking back and wish she was at ASU. Cannot recommend her enough! 10/10
The prompts and the outlines were pretty self-explanatory but when it came to the bigger projects it was a little bit foggier as to what she wanted from the class. THe assignments were fun but there were a lot of small writing assignments that were difficult to keep up with while working my full-time job.
I took FRE101, FRE102, and ENG102 with Aldridge. She's funny, passionate about her subjects, and always accessible outside of class. She really cares about her students and wants to see everyone pass. Aldrige is flexible about dates, and incredibly understanding when difficult situations arise. She's very approachable. 10/10 do recommend.
Dr. Aldridge was a very good professor, but she assigns LOTS of homework. If it doesn't meet exactly what she wants, you get a 0 and no partial credit for doing the assignment. She gives very critical feedback.
Mary was an amazing professor she grades things hard but cares about you and your work. I was failing and asked her help me get me grade up and it was up to a B within a week.
This professor is a great professor and this class is very easy. All you need to do is make sure you follow the instructions and word count for every assignment.
Lots of homework assignments and she often isn't clear with what format she wants on the grading assignments. Tough grader. At the end of the semester, she lets you turn in 3 essays after you revised them and will change your grade if you did better than your first attempt. She's easy to reach. She doesn't teach much, but talks about Kardashians.
Personally, I struggled because it was 5-6 weekly homework assignments with word requirements of 250 or more. For me, it was really hard to stay on top of everything as a full-time student since it felt like I had to dedicate more time to this class than my required classes. If you work or have other difficult classes, I would not recommend it.
Do not take her. She has you do both an 800 worded essay and a final exam that has you write 1850 words.
Was honestly a great teacher, My only problem was that I took it while taking 16 other credits so I almost failed due to not being able to complete all of the material. She grades based off of completion on most of her assignments, with the acceptation of the midterm and final. As long as you write a decent paper that hits the word count youre good
One of the most highly opinionated (online) professors I've ever had! Mary liked to grade her way, rather than from a rubric. I constantly gave her above and beyond on all my assignments and she remained unsatisfied. Her arrogance made it difficult to take any of her feedback seriously. Avoid any of Mary's classes and save the headaches.
