Very straight-forward and no nonsense, strives to push you to do your best. Believes in building character, not hand holding. Great teacher, she answered any questions I had and worked with me when I had issues turning in assignments. She has a sarcastic humor that is enjoyable. I would enjoy taking another course from her.
I took Dr. Humphrey-Keever's online Volkswalking Class. During the orientation she was very straight forward but I liked that. She made the objectives very clear. She responded quickly to emails. She is encouraging toward our class goals.
Hilarious! Comes across a bit rough but if you can see past that, you'll find her quite charming and very sarcastic. Answered emails right away, direct and straight to the point.
I'm so glad I didn't listen to the ratings on here prior to taking her online class. She is a great teacher and would very much recommend her to anyone who needs motivation. She is straight forward enough to tell you exactly what needs to get done! She responds to emails quickly and makes sure the class understands what is expected of them!
Really easy to pass her class. All you have to do is walk. I loved it and the AVA are fun. Take Volkswalking!
Dr HK is awesome. She is serious about fitness and wants you to succeed. She gives you all the tools for success, makes it perfectly clear what her expectations are and is really amazing about communicating via email. One of the best instructors I have ever had. I will definitely take her class again!
Some people might have said negative things about this teacher, but I've had nothing but positive contact with her! Her class is fun, and not too challenging, but keeps you moving! Don't listen to a student who tells you otherwise!
I love this teacher. She is no nonsense kinda lady who has a heart of gold. Act like an adult and she will treat you like one. She truly wants you to do succeed. Super bummed I cant take her again next term.

This class was enjoyable. I had fun getting to know the people in my class. Everyone was friendly and enthusiastic. However, I had trouble accepting my coach. I was mildly put off by her lack of friendliness and her use of sarcasm. I felt that I was discriminated against for having an injury/missing class. I would not want this teacher again.
Very straightforward professor. You get out of this class what you put in, period. You don't do the work- you are booted, but that is transparent from day 1. Fast feedback and great communication as well as motivation. Online class worked with my hectic schedule.
She is a good instructor for the Volkswalking course, but not flexible. I was sick I missed one of the only events going on that term and I had to twist her arm to let her accept my going to an event all the way up in Olympia just to get credit for the class. Luckily, she gave me credit.

I took her on-line class and she was VERY stricked about the work submitted (how it was and when it was). She was a little hard to understand due to overexplanation (too many words). YET, this was a VERY easy class to take/pass. This is the class for the student who needs flexablility.
Online PE! Can't really get any better. Read her instructions, do everything, and you will pass. Don't and you will fail. Pretty straightforward. Very understanding, and extremely friendly. Don't whine. :)
Great teacher. Very strict of when things are to be turned in. This is a self-paced PE class. If you follow her instructions and turn things in when due, you won't have a problem. I'm taking her class again as it motivates me to go to the gym.
I really enjoyed taking the class with you, and I learned a lot. Your personality, your great sense of humor and your knowledge of soccer made this class very enjoyable. If I didn?t live to so far from the rock creek campus, I would take this class again, again, and again. Thank you.
I took her online class. At the end of class, there was a networking issue (on PCC's end) with submitting the final assignment. She closed the submissions and didn't answer email, and sent out a message saying that if you missed the deadline, tough. If you like an instructor who's completely intolerant and unreasonable, she's for you.
Coach was a great motivator and very knowledgeable. I really appreciated her persistence for endurance training. Her class was tons of fun. I learned a lot about my own level of fitness and fitness parameters through her class. Her high spirits and inclination towards athletics added to the enjoyment of the class. Will def take her again!!
Dr. HK is fair and through when going over the steps in class it is up to the student to stay on track. Dr. HK also is great at communicating online to help with student questions about the class work. Great class and motivative
I would say this class is for lazy people who don't "really" want to work out. Its an e-mail class, meaning you e-mail her once a week she has know idea if you are doing what you say your doing. Btw it isn't posted anywhere that this is an online class, so for people who dont have internet at home, I would think twice before taking this class.
Took this online and there was a lot of info to wade thru and a lot of fitness test that were odd to take on your own. One involved a yard stick which is not easy thing to come across. Maybe if you have a trainer these might be easier. She also doct me points on something she had previously said I didn't have to do. Not a reasonable teacher.
This class was great, at first I was afraid that I would not be able to complete the class, but this instructor was very helpful. I designed my own fitness program but the instructor provided excellent tools to help me develop the best plan for me. I had great results. :)
Dr.Humphrey-Keever is a great motivator because she is genuinely interested in you. This class allows for the weekly communication accessing her wealth of knowledge; use it to your advantage!My experience was positive;I learned that I can do more than I thought.As a on-line learner this is the perfect solution for degree satisfaction. I left the previous comment and would like to state that due to an error in the college email system Dr HK was not receiving the emails needed to verify participation in the class. When the error was discovered, she very politely, respectfully and quickly acted to let me know and I was able to pass. Thank you Dr HK!!!!!!!
Worst teacher ever do not take her course. Her instructions were completely unclear, I missed one assignment and told her I misunderstood her instructions. Her answer drop my class. She gave me all zeros on following assignments I completed. WORST TEACHER EVER!!!!!
I gained alot of information from this professor. She interacts with me and all her students on a regular basis. A wealth of information, she is like a personal trainer - fitness in all areas including exercise types and calorie function. Text of choice is great,an excellent reference book for lifelong fitness. I'd recommend this class to anyone.
Great class/teacher/bball coach; very helpful. I work a lot & PE182 allows me 2 work at my own pace. Show up on day 1 & get all the info needed; then work from home. She makes it so easy; "message in once a week via email. miss 3 and fail!" plain & simple. Its on the student 2 remember 2 email each week as discussed on day 1. Its not hard! Its fun!
The professor has a doctorate and has an obvious passion for improving the quality of higher education. I'm very satisfied with the quality of the information I received and the clarity of instructions. Even better, it's made a significant improvement in my health!
Dr. HK is tough but fair. Do the work and do it as instructed and you'll pass. But, if you are lacking in self discipline, this isn't the instructor for you; she's got a BS detector a mile wide.
Dr HK has high standards, and provides all that you need to meet these standards, if you apply yourself. Always quick to respond if questions arise. A great motivator. Provides ample resources for self learning, as this was an on-line course.

I enjoyed very much this online course. Like the title says "self peaced fitness", you exercise at your own peaced and you obtain changes and a credit. I highly recommende this teacher. Great teacher, great support...
This was a great class. i enjoyed having Humphrey-Keever as a professor. She kept it light and fun the whole term.
I was hesitant about taking this class but it exceeded expectations. She is crystal clear of when things are due and the policy of lates (do not be late!!). Stick to those rules, work out 3 x a week and this class was awesome. She was really engaged and made lots of comments. I asked questions. She answered them. Great class!
Humphrey-Keever may seem strict at first, but she is a fair professor. She makes it easy to understand the class rules and expectations. Overall, a fun and challenging course!

Mary Ann was the best Phys. Ed. instructor I have ever had period. She was continually encouraging me and in her class I lost over 20 pounds! I am actually retaking the class and am looking forward to even more results.

She pushes you hard and let's you explore your non comfort zone with your physical activity. I recommend everyone take one of her classes to get fit and meet new people.

DR Humphrey is a great! I took her self-paced fitness class via web and it was a great way to keep track of your workouts. Yes, it is an easy credit IF you pay attention to what you're supposed to do which she makes EXTREMELY clear. Fun teacher, very funny, and prompt in e mail response.
This was by far the best class i have ever taken!!! I took beginners basketball, and even though i had the lowest skill level in the class Mary Ann encouraged me every day to work hard, she gave me the confidence i needed to compete in the class, i highly recommend Mary Ann too anyone who wants to be around a very helpful and awesome teacher
This was a great class! Just finishing it up and feel completely motivated to keep up with my new program. Strongly suggest taking this class if you are looking to better your overall fitness level. Instructor is extremely patient.
Great Soccer class!
I highly recommend this class to anyone and everyone! She made it VERY clear what needed to be done, gave quick feedback, and honestly the class is a breeze. You only meet once at the beginning of the term. Then you e-mail her once a week. She is also HILARIOUS. I would take this again in a heartbeat, and I plan to. Seriously, TAKE IT.

I very much enjoyed this class specifically for the educator. She is a very straight forward and organized. There is no way you will have the excuse that you did not have the right information..which is good. I rather enjoyed her blunt, sarcastic, and witty personality and way of motivating us. This was a great self-paced course. Instructions were fairly clear although the wrong instructions were listed in some places. For instance, there is a requirement of 4 weekly hours but in some of the instructions it said 3.
I felt like the structure of the course was direct and clear. Whenever I needed clarity, she was great at getting me feedback on it.
" Keep on Truckin' " -- If you don't want to do the work. MUST read all of the information. She is documented, and clear in her wants and the outcome of her courses. Well organized. I would love to take another one of her courses. I would recommend this class.
Dr.HK is the most educated instructor out there. She is constantly updating her training with the most current methods and techniques available and her knowledge is unmatched. If you truly want to improve your standards, take her classes. If you are looking for an easy class to skate through, you better be good at lying, because she will know.
This class was very easy and it had me working out 4 times a week. I liked that it was at my own pace and I didn't have to work out at the campus gym for the credit. Dr. Humphrey-Keever was funny and fun to work with on email and at the orientation. Whenever I had questions or concerns she gave great advice. I would defiantly take her class again.
I've already taken two of her online fitness classes and plan to take a third this winter. I absolutely love her as a teacher and a person. By far the funniest teacher I've ever had. I was cracking up the entire orientation. You send her an email once a week, simple and easy. If you can't get an A you're probably a moron. No offense. It's that easy
Orientation was a mess; pamphlets of info are confusing, is too lazy to re-write pamphlets from 30 years ago. Basically copy paste all info for the first few weeks of orientation. She needs to get with the times and use computers for weekly logs instead of booklets. Isn't a fitness instructor (has ph.d.) I recommend a more modern teacher.
The syllabus is spot on and you will get what you put in to it. I took this as a online course and there is a lot of eye opening experiences. Weekly simple timed quizzes. I recommend this class for anyone who is not health minded as it will rock your world!
You get out of the class what you put into it. It can be a little time consuming with all the projects. It's not an easy A. The instructor is very clear in the beginning as to what she expects from you and it's up to you to do the work.
The Doc is great. She emailed me throughout the term and was like an open book. Got to know her a little bit and I must say she changed my life. Do the work and it will pay off.A mile will turn to 2,sky is the limit and the doctor gave me some great pointers.
I'm sure that this lady is knowledgeable in what she is teaching, she IS a Dr....however, I've never had a teacher who is so snide and demeaning in her comments and responses. I guess she isn't used to having students who actually live a fit life as all she could do was make smart comments regarding my progress. Also, her expectations were vague.

Dr.HK was a great teacher, very clear in her expectations, responds to every single discussion post, assignments are graded right away sometimes before the deadline, if I turned it in early. It is a simple class and easy A, IF you put the effort into it. Great teacher, I would take her again if I needed another health/pe class.
Dr. Hk was very clear on her expectations for the class. Some might feel as though she had some attitude but it was likely because they didn't catch her humor. This class is great in helping keep you accountable and be able to see improvements in fitness level or where you are lagging. I would recommend her & taking another class Spring term.
This class was not at all what i was expecting. But i learned ALOT. It was just a requirement to take this class, but i think it should be required for every academic program. The things you will learn are invaluable, and provide a very solid base in learning how to live a healthy life. her expectations are straight forward and is quick to respond
What I got out the class is what I put into it, which was good.Having said that I would not recommend her.Her humor is geared towards herself and her instructions for her on-line class is not clear at all,causing much frustration.I take many online classes and I can say this class needs a better set up. She might be a good in person instructor.
All I can say it you get what you give. This class is easy, all you have to do is the work. She taught us how to take our Heart rates, when to stretch and other safety basics. They you chose your work outs and report them each week. I really like the professor. She expects the most out of her students. she is clear and very direct.

Dr.Humphrey-Keever is so much fun. This class was online except for our orientation to the class and I wish that wasn't the case. She is a fun teacher and definitely knows what she is talking about when it comes to fitness. I would recommend her to anyone that is self motivated and looking for a great PE to get into.
Dr. HK was fantastic! She explained straight up what was expected for the course. As long as you read the instructions and follow the guidelines- you will do great. It is a self paced class meaning it is under your control how well you do. Dr. HK supplys the terms and you have the power to work within them. All in all great online fitness class!

I have enjoyed this course. The Int. Fitness & Walking course is very accommodating for busy schedules. Very good for keeping healthy and/or evaluating general overall physical condition. Very helpful.
She was snide, demeaning, expectations were vague. I was marked down for doing well at something. I understand why HE & PE are 2 different classes, but at the same time they shouldn't be. I got a B because I got the due times mixed up on ONE HW. She gave no credit though I'd been working on it for overa week. No XC offered. Lost 4.0. very unhelpful
I find it hilarious I made a B in PE considering the fact I was at the gym more than anyone else in the class, due to my participation in a demanding bodybuilding program. Wish she gave extra credit for the students that missed a due date :( She was pleasant though and had I submitted my one late assignment on time, I would have made an easy A.
I had no issued with her. Super prompt at getting stuff graded and provided valid feedback. Those who complained about the grading structure- it was clear from the get go that there was no make ups or EC. Live and learn :)
No extra credit offered or make-up assignments; however, teacher was clear in outlining expectations for the class. To earn a decent to good grade, one has to be organized, complete assignments and projects on time, and put in some study time.
You will not be disappointed. A wealth of knowledge as well as sense of humor. I really enjoyed how real she was regarding the subject. Always got back to me fast quickly and made the standard clear for what was expected.
Dr. Huphrey-Keever was great, you work on your own time at your own pace, report to her before 8 pm every Friday and you do great. She is very understanding if you forgot or don't submit your workout on time. I really liked her. I am taking her for Adult fitness again.

I took Adult Fitness 182A on-line. Dr. Humphrey-Keever makes you work hard for it. If you're looking for an easy on-line fitness class, this is not the one for you. If you participate, and do the work (honestly) you will pass with flying colors! Overall, this class was a helpful tool to get fit and earn a credit all at the same time.
Dr. Humpfrey-Keever only asks that you check in every week by Friday & do your 2 fitness tests. You can choose any workouts you want; All that is needed is 60 min 3xwk & your heart rate. Dr. H-K is very easygoing & is very fair with her grading. She makes it very clear at orientation what the expectations are. Awesome class & highly recommended.
Dr. Humphrey-Keever is pretty clear on how she grades, pretty simple, report your workout and you will be fine (but workout don't lie, the only person you lie is yourself), participate and no problem you will pass. She is a great motivator if I can take her class again, I will but I will be transfer to a University now :). I Highly recommend her.

This is the second time I've taken one of Ms Humphrey-Keever's classes and each one I really liked simply because she's a straight shooter. Meaning: she's to the point and leaves the success of our experience down to each student and their willingness to do the work with integrity and follow-thru.
She is not inclined to accommodate a documented chronic illness. You must be healthy to be eligible for PE at PCC. The workout sessions MUST last 60 minutes each, NO EXCEPTIONS. I cant imagine she would essentially turn away a person using a mobility device, recommending a personal trainer in lieu of meeting a degree requirement. Why me?
This class was really fun and informative. I would take it again for sure. The teacher was super nice and helpful, and the homework was fun.
It's a PE class, put in the time, and you'll do fine! Classes are mandatory in that you have to have 30 hours over the course of the term, which ends up being 3, 1 hour work outs each week. You only have to physically go in for the orientation. Make sure to work out the first week, the first report (vie email) should cover two weeks of class.
Dr. Humphrey-Keever gave clear expectations and participation in doing what your are supposed to do outside of a reg class matters. It taught me self discipline..
This is a great instructor. The class was simple, as long as you sent in your weekly logs and sent them in on time you are good. The last turn-in class I had some stuff come up and was very understanding about me getting it in late. She really does want to see you succeed, you just have to be willing to want it also.
Dr. HumphreyKeever is a fantastic instructor. I really enjoyed her approach to fitness and appreciated her insight to my personal fitness goals. It was inspiring having her for an instructor.
Pretty clear cut class. Not a tough course. Lots of labs that do require pre-planning. Teacher was fair. She does send out a lot of deadline reminders that felt a bit negative in wording, but she got the point across. The material really helps you grasp your overall fitness level. Would recommend both this teacher and this class.
Great class
I took this class as an online PE lab to my health class. Professor Humphrey-Keever was really clear about assignments, due dates, and grading. She responds to questions and gives good feedback. You just have to participate and turn things in on time, and you should have no problem passing. I would take another class with her again.
Grades fair and does not accept late work. She keeps you on your toes, literally!!!

This class was fun and nice because you get to choose which activities you do. The teacher does expect you to do the work and doesn't make exceptions, but the directions are VERY clear. She is great about grading assignments quickly and giving feedback. As long as you read what needs to be done and do it with effort you can pass easily with an A.
Dr. HK went above and beyond when it came to helping me get registered at the last minute for the on line class. Her feedback was hilarious and encouraging. She is very clear about expectations and all you need to do is do the work and you'll be fine. I would take a class from her again in a heartbeat.
I took her online, self paced fitness class for a PE Credit and I am glad I did! She is a wonderful professor, with a lot of wisdom and a hilarious attitude. I would gladly take any class from her again. All you have to do is pay attention and follow instructions and you'll pass!
Mary Ann is an amazing professor. She cares about her students and their success in her course. I like that the course was online which was interesting. Be sure to participate in activities and record exercises used. Also make sure to complete the mile that's required. Pushes students to do their best and learn positive habits for your body.
Pretty straight forward class. As is with all fitness courses, you get what you put into this! I work out 3 times a week, and I also work, so an online fitness course worked well for my schedule. She is passionate about her program. Be sure to follow the week 1 instructions! It would be nice if she implemented a checklist for the first week.

Dr. HK is one of the rare ones. She is well respected as an author and even more so for her military career. She sets firm expectations from the start and will help develop a plan to achieve realistic, achievable fitness goals. No unnecessary paperwork or spreadsheets to deal with, just email the weekly workout log. Take this class!
Cool teacher, allowed me to get in her class kinda last minute and I really needed it for the summer and for requirements outside of credits. She's very responsive and kind. I would definitely take the one of her courses again. I also like the work out aspect.

She is patient and kind and as long as you do your work on time you wont have a tough time passing her classes. Would take another class from her again this time in the flesh!
Because it's an online course and there really aren't THAT many things that we're graded by, it's super important to try and have things in before their due date. I think she's really passionate about her work and prides herself in what she does :) Would recommend

Professor Mary Ann Humphrey-Keever is a fair and understanding teacher who worked with me to complete my off campus PhysEd course - Walking For Fitness. She took into consideration my age and condition and helped me through any confusion I had. More importantly she LISTENED to the concerns I had and took into account the challenges I had in life.
Dr HK was a super fun Professor. She showed genuine concern and did her best to offer help when needed. She always tried to get me out of my comfort zone and help me get better in a straightforward and understandable way.
Dr. HK is very clear in what she expects from you. She is a no-nonsense instructor. She provides quick feedback, is inspirational in her approach and truly wants to see her students succeed. I have had her twice and I would take any class from her again!!

Fun class, I took it twice. I didn't really know about some games we played but she was helpful and informed us. You have to work and participate for your grade and as long as she sees you trying you will be fine.
This teacher was lit. It was so much fun being in this class. I took tennis but we also played pickle ball and bat mitten. She is so straight up with you which I respected lol. She does pick on some people but its all for laughs. I never took it seriously. But I would still take this class again.
DO NOT TAKE "Beginning Tennis" IN WINTER TERM!!! Why? Because you will NEVER play tennis. We only played tennis outdoors 4-5 times and the rest was indoor pickleball 24/7. Oh, and some of indoor badminton a few times here and there, but with the same net setup for pickleball--it's not good. However, with all that said, Dr. Humphrey-Keever is #1.
You can ask as many questions as possible. Once you get the hang of it, it's easy.

Dr. Humphrey-Keever is a great PE teacher. I took her for Beginning Tennis and it was a blast. She definitely knows how to help you improve your game. We played mostly pickle-ball (which practically everyone in the class enjoyed immensely), and a bit of badminton and tennis. She has a quirky personality that might need some getting used to. :)
Clear, caring, concise. This was a great class with options to suit anyone. Dr. HK is an instructor that knows her business and wants to see students succeed. I would highly recommend this course and this instructor. Attendance-it's an online class but you need to attend to your exercise and be sure to report it each week on time.
She's a good teacher. Clear, concise, respectful, and encouraging. Strict on deadlines and format. If you are beginning to mess up, you will be told before it's too late. She provides a lot of good material that can apply to life outside the course. She also gives good feedback.

Dr. HK is very knowledgeable in fitness and how to achieve optimal health goals; she has an extensive sports medicine background. I learned the importance of reaching my target heart rate for maximum results in my workouts. I saw great results at the end of this 10 wk online course. I plan on implementing what I learned in my future fitness regime.
I really enjoyed taking one of DR. HK's online self-paced fitness classes. All student expectations were clearly laid out before any work was expected and my questions were answered quickly. DR. HK was also very respectful and understanding of my physical and mental health complications, which I greatly appreciated. Very LGBT friendly, too! Thanks!
Not sure why I even took tennis but it was amazing. At first I thought it was going to go downhill cause of a joke she said but than I was able to figure out her personality and laugh it off. She is hilarious and clever. As long as you don't take her jokes too personally, you'll be fine. I'll definitely be taking more classes from her again.
Dr. HK is a great professor and I would absolutely take another class from her. I took her online Adult Fitness class during the summer and as long as you are trying (and not lying) the class is a great way to learn how to get and stay fit. I would love to take one of her fitness classes at the college.

Good tennis teacher. This was my second class with her for tennis. I had a great time improving my game. She also has a very unique sense of humor. :)
Dr. HK is very understanding and cares about her students - plus super funny in person! I would 10/10 take this class again :D
She's strict with due dates but other than that very easy class and would recommend.
She dropped my grade a full grade, because I did "To much homework." She made derogatory comments to me. She made comments about my journals being fake, even after I offered to have her come with me. She removes post from here she doens't like. It's been 4 years, and I'm coming back to this site to say DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESOR. If you value sanity
