She is okay if you get to know her, and ask questions.

Once you get used to the way she delivers her lectures it's smooth sailing. Exams follow the study guide exactly! Don't read the book. Her notes are all you need.

The class is only an hour long, and she gives lots of notes with great examples. She also gives you a study guide for each test that is really helfpul, but the test can still be hard.

Take good notes during lectures and review them well. They pretty much are all you will ever need.

Nice lady, tests aren't that bad as long as you study your study guide.

As long as you go to class and take notes, you will do fine. Tests can be tricky, but she will help you out during the exam and hint at answers.

Oh my GOD! 301 sucks horribly! But I'm glad to say that it's just the class and NOT RENZ. She was so helpful and considerate during the semester, as long as you work for a grade and try. Tests are no big deal and homework is ok but 301 is the DEVIL!

Renz is awesome, her class is easy if you read the chapters and go to class sometimes. also do the study guides and go to the study sessions. i got an E on my first test then i went to the study session for the next test and got an A! she is very helpful and she is really nice take

Dr. Renz was very helpful and she truly cares about her students. I did not care for the class and I skipped a lot of classes and just got the notes off of blackboard. She puts tons of notes and study guides on blackboard. This class was kinda hard, but what you put in is what you will get out!

if you want to do well in class, be there. plain a simple. mary ann is the type of person where if you give her respect, she'll give you respect. the exams are all multiple choice - go to class and the study sessions, and you'll be just fine. study your notes for the exams, and you'll ace it.

Dr. Renz can be intimidating at times. I dropped 251 the 1st time I took it because of that. However, if you go to class, take good notes, do the study guides and ask for help when needed, you'll be fine- I got an A.

Dont slack off, stay up with the research and you will be fine. Unfortunatly I didnt do that and had to drop. She is helpful, go to her office hours and get to know her.

She puts all the notes on blackboard; if you skim the text, take notes off blackboard, do the study guides, and go to the study session, you don't have to go to class. She is a helpful, available, and knowledgeable.

Renz is the best teacher I have had so far. She makes this class lots of fun and very interesting. She also makes sure that you understand what she is teaching so you can apply it when it comes test time. She is very helpful, and I hope I can have her again sometime down the road.

Mary Ann is a wondeful teacher. If you work for her she will work for you. This is college and many students have a very childish attitude toward the classes. Mary Ann treats you like an adult even if you aren't acting like one. Thank goodness someone holds people accountable for their own educations.

She was so helpful to me this semester and boosted my confidence when I thought I sucked at debating. She was also understanding when I missed a class or too and would email me to make sure I was ok. All you need to do is read the book, take good notes, and work hard, as you should in all college classes anyway (BTW, I got an A-).

it's an ipc class, what are you seriosly expecting? put the work in, get an A. go to study sessions, they are amazing. no reason ANYONE should get even less than a B, really. we are in college, stop being slackers/complainers and suck it up. M.A. really does care a lot and will always be willing to help you. -speech minor

Although it takes a lot of reading, notetaking, studying, and research -- Renz's presentation was the clearest and most efficient of my Bachelor studies. I've never taken in so much information in one sitting and never been more impressed with a professor's communication, in sync with her area of expertise. To do well, take good notes and her tests closely follow. Sit close and she'll offer conversations, which benefit you with participation points and she's happy to elaborate and clarify.

This class is not bad at all- Mary Ann does a great job describing the theories and if you need help just ask- people that do bad probably just expect easy A's...I studied less for these exams then I have for many classes and I got 80% on them so far! The papers are easy points if you show that you know what you are talking about.

She really takes the time to help you if you need it, but forth the work and you'll be fine.

Go to class- don't just print her lecture notes!

I loved being offered a different ways to be evaluated. I think that helped keep students motivated, and it is fairer for those who don't perform as well on exams and papers only. I think it also ensures that we store key concepts better. I'd love to take Dr. Renz for another class. You should take her; you won't regret it.

K so the class is boring, but Dr. Renz is a real nice lady who only wants her students to do well. She holds like a million study sessions before each test to make sure u KNOW the material. Just study and go to class and ull get an A or B!! VERY HELPFUL!

Mary Ann is the best teacher I've ever had. She is kind, generous, and willing to help. She would do anything to help you pass the class. I've had her for three classes and wish I could take her again. If you have to take 251, 301, or 353, take her!

If you have to take IPC 301 I STRONGLY recommend you take it with Mary Ann!! She makes this really hard class less overwhelming and is very willing to help you. More than anything she wants you to succeed and she is very easy to contact if you have questions. I love her and wish I could take all my classes with her!!!

Mary Ann is so nice and very smart. Her class was very easy...I got an A. Just do the study guides and go to the study sessions...THEY HELP! You could get away with not having the book, but I am a COM minor, so I read anyway and it helped me understand better. Easy papers. Join Communication Assoc. too if its your major/minor. She's the adviser.

I really liked Mary Ann, I had her for IPC 251 and she was an extremely good teacher. She posts all the notes and study guides on blackboard. She dedicates a whole class period b4 each test to review the study guide, and offers study groups (in which she makes sure everyone can attend at least one-if they want to).

She is a great teacher. I was not interested in the class before I took it and now I wish I majored in communication. She may not be clear but you can ask her as many questions as you need to in order to understand the material. She also has study sessions before the exams and those really help. I did not use the book at all.

Don't buy the book...she goes over everything in class. Mary Ann is very helpful with the theories and it is a great class!!

Fairly easy prof. She was always understanding if you missed a class as long as you had a viable excuse. Go to class and you will do well on the quizzes. I got at least a B+ on all of my speeches.

Mary Ann is a good teacher, but she takes her work seriously. Show up to class and participate in activities and you'll be fine. This class is almost entirely group work, so try not to get slackers in your group. Exams are pretty easy, and she gives helpful review guides. Definately take her for COM 353, and she's pretty good for other classes.

Excellent professor! This class is almost entirely group-work outside of class so you'll definitely learn a lot! Exams and quizzes are pretty easy and her study guides tell you exactly what to expect. She is extremely helpful with questions. I'd recommend MaryAnn for any COM course!

I love Mary-ann! She is such a wonderful teacher, and takes the time to get to know who you are as a person. I would highly recommend her to anyone! :} I have loved the 3 classes that i had with her. She is a wonderful teacher! You can tell she is very committed to communications. I didn't know what to expect going into this class, and i am so glad i took it. It decided my major! She is very clear and EXTREMLY helpful.

My favorite COM teacher. She explains the material so well. As long as you takes notes on everything she lectures about you will ace the exams. She is so nice and willing to work to get you to understand the material.

Marry Ann is the best. She is very accommodating to her students. She is one of the few professors who really listens to her students. In her class I feel like she is my partner in learning, no matter how dull the material is. She is a great person to know well on campus, so participate in class discussions! Truly a fantastic professor.

Mary Ann was my favorite professor all year long. She really made my freshman year enjoyable, helping me learn & understand the material perfectly. She was very helpful and always enthusiastic about helping her students. The class isnt difficult as long as you use her study guides to study for the exams.

Mary Ann is the best professor I have ever had in college! She is so helpful and will take time out of her schedule to help you when needed. I took her for 251 and I am just about to finish her 301 class. ATTENDANCE IS ABSOLUTELY MANDATORY!! Do yourself a favor and sign up for her classes. You will NOT regret it!

GO TO CLASS! It's the only way you will understand and pass this class. By far the hardest class I have taken in the COM department but Mary Ann is beyond helpful. She really wants to see her students succeed.
