Professor Ashlock is a lot of fun. She's very bubbly, very helpful, and an easy A- had her Fall 06- 4 speeches, some minor assignments that were EASY, and 2 multiple choice exams on blackboard (at home, open book, open notes). Learned a lot.

Dr. Ashlock is also my advisor-- I loved my advisor at the A&S office and was extremely apprehensive about going else where for my advising once I came of age and had declared a major. Ashlock made my transition very easy. As for a teacher she can be a little much in the morning with her SUPER-CAN -CO Attitude... But you get used to it. :-)

Awesome prof! She is very bubbly and full of energy. I took this class during the summer. We had an assignment due everyday in the class. Not really hard assignments, just I don't know if I could have kept up had I taken another class along with this one. 4 speeches (2 individual, 2 group).

I Had Dr. Ashlock for two classes in one semester. Had her for first section of computer communication. Very easy and fun, and had her for intro to communication. intro is a little harder. Pretty much everything will be on a power point. Test are a little hard in this class but you get alot of points for attendence. Im taking her next sem as well.

I would recommend Dr. Ashlock. I took Interpersonal Communication with her for a summer class. She kept things very entertaining. There was some group work but it was not bad. There was a lot of work but it was all easy. As long as you keep up with everything you will be fine.

Great Professor! She really cares about the students and getting them all through the class. If you hate public speaking, this is the class to take- she really takes it into consideration, half the presentations are done in groups. Great Professor!

Great teacher! Offers multiple extra credit opportunities. Has so much energy and a fun teacher. The class material is easy, but requires some studying for technical terms. Attendance is not mandatory, but does do random sign in sheets for 10 pts. Has a review day before the test and has online study guides.

Dr. Ashlock is one of those professors that you will remember for a lifetime. She is enthusiastic and fun, and leads class as more of a discussion than a lecture. She gives a lot of small, easy assignments, but her classes are very applicable and interesting. She really cares about students and what is going on in their lives. I highly recommend!!!

Great professor. She takes what could be average material and makes it interesting and relevant. Attendance is not mandatory, but bonus points are given for attendance. She also provides extra credit opportunities and gives great test reviews. I highly recommend this professor.

She's the peppiest lady you'll ever meet. Attendance isnt mandatory but she has sign-in days where you get free points if u were there which can add up real quick. just go to class, get the free points, and look over the study guides she posts for tests and you'll be golden. Plus theres tons of other extra credit btw...if u even need it

I liked her style. She was east to understand. Her tests were rather difficult due to the way she used her words.

Reads from power points, which are all online. Only reason to attend the lecture is for participation points. Pretty straightforward teaching style. Explains the only hard concepts through real life examples. Tests are mostly common sense, so studying is not that important. I would recommend not buying the book, because I never opened it.

Class wasn't difficult at all, the book is used for chapter summaries, 1 page double spaced not difficult. Each module does kind of have a little demand but its all extremely doable. Highly friendly and always encouraging.

This class was only fun because of Dr. Ashlock. She's such a nice person and is so passionate about what she's teaching. It was a 9 AM class and she always came in there and livened it up. Dr. Ashlock is the best professor I have had so far at UofL. This was a class I just picked up for fun and LOVED it! She gives tons of extra credit opportunities throughout the semester and four exams. She takes attendance 10 times throughout randomly, but if you miss one then just do a couple E.C. assignements and you'll be fine. Easy A.

She was awesome! As long as you show up to class, you will get an A. There are 10 random participation checks that are 10 points throughout the semester and adds up to 100 points, if you want to skip class make sure you have a friend ready to text you.

Ashlock is a perfect example of a person who we would all like to be like someday. Even though it's an auditorium filled with like 200 people, she makes participation a priority, and makes course content memorable with her unique connections to real life. Sign-in points are recorded on random days. Even if you have zero interest in COMM, take her.

She is very passionate about the subject matter and makes you feel the same way. Lots of daily in-class activities, so attendance was basically mandatory. 2 individual speeches, 2 group speeches. Great class, I would highly recommend. Would be a great summer class, the workload is very reasonable. Discussion board every week and then a quiz every couple of weeks. Wonderful teacher, I wish she taught more online. I would sign up for her again in a heartbeat!

This class was SO EASY! I recommend this online class for sure. There is a discussion board every week that you answer questions on, most are in the textbook which I got an online download for like $15. Quiz's are every other week and are so easy all the questions can be found on quizlet, which is great for studying ;) She also has video lectures

Ashlock is seriously the sweetest prof I've ever had! I've taken her classes 201 and 310 and I've loved them both. She is so understanding about any issues that you have, she's super funny and has amazing lectures, and gives extra credit/test questions on review days!!

Mary Ashlock is one of the nicest professors I've ever taken. Her class has a lot of busy work (weekly textbook summaries), but it also have valuable lessons such as a mock interview and career plans. If you want a good professor for Business Communication, take her.

As Professor Ashlock knows, I always recommend her section for students taking COMM 201: Intro to Communication. She's a great professor and she is an amazing example of a professor who cares for students and shows excitement and pride for students who achieve something in the field. Professor Ashlock is a gem on UL's campus. She provides a comforting environment in class with A TON of energy while also understanding that not all her students are in the headspace to be energetic and engaged. This course is relatively simple but the quizzes and tests can be challenging. Definitely check out her courses if needed requirement.

Prof Ashlock is AMAZING. 13+ Extra Credit Opportunities. Quizzes are online on camera. They are harder than I thought they would be. Go through summary and flashcards at the end of each chapter (that's what the quizzes are on). She will change your lowest quiz to your highest quiz grade. She helps advice COMM majors. She wants you to be successful!

Dr. Ashlock is an amazing professor&person! There was one time where my laptop stopped working so I couldn't take a test, and she was so understanding that she gave me an extension. She wants to make sure you are on the right path and successful. She is so understanding and definitely the best professor to have been greeted with beginning college!

Very caring and understanding. Very helpful for Communication majors in figuring out what classes to take next. Lots of extra credit opportunities throughout the semester, 5 classes with sign-ins that you got extra credit just for being there. The only assignments are discussion boards and biweekly quizzes with a lockdown browser that records you.

She will want you to engage as much as possible, attendance is mandatory for the class, but she's understanding with absences as long as you communicate with her. weekly chapter summaries with the textbook but grades super easy. A decent amount of presentations including a mock interview with a partner, so be prepared if you hate public speaking.

My attendance wasn't the best, but the extra credit really saved me. She responds to emails quickly and efficiently, lectures are fun, and the course is generally easy.

One of the kindest professors. She truly cares about her students. Anyone who says she shows favortism to athletes is lying. I am furthest from an athlete and she showed so much kindness to me the whole semester. She would respond to all emails before the next day, and my peers said the same. She has written me multiple recommendations and stays connected after the class. We built a real community in this class.
