she knows what she talks about. Good teacher. But tests are very hard. Need to memorize every topic from the book. Nothing is uncovered. And no study guide before test. One group project which is 40% of the grade. Make sure you get that whole 40%. Because test questions are confusing. no extra credit no curve.
Very hard class, but the professor was helpful and knowledgeable on the topics. I took this class online, we had one group project and three tests. The tests were very difficult and the group project was very time consuming.
Integrated Accounting Information Systems = SAP. Extremely useful class. You get to play with SAP. Prof Goodrich is awesome and very helpful. Easy A if you do the 6+ hw that are easy but very tedious and time consuming.
Very hard test, you do have to memorize everything in the book in order to acheive even a high B. good luck
Really easy class, you get to mess around with SAP. Tests are super easy! do not buy the book, I did not read it once. This class is an easy A
this class was a lot of work. There are 5 homeworks each take like 15 hours on SAP. Then there are 3 exams. Make sure to get perfect score in HW because She does not curve
NOT an easy class. You need to put ALOT of time and effort. HWs aren't hard but VERY time consuming. Tests were hard but HW6 can replace lowest grade. I took it as online, there's SO MANY lectures you need to listen. Not recommended.
Prof Goodrich is one of the better professors at UTD. She is very helpful and wants her students to succeed. Tests are relevant to class lectures and text materials. Requirements to succeed in the class are clear.
Best teacher ever and a great friend as well!
Very friendly and responsible teacher. You can feel her passion for teaching through her lectures.
Professor Goodrich is a wonderful teacher with a passion for making her students successful. She is really good at mentoring her students in their professional skills, especially leadership skills. She is willing to help students and spend time with them. The friendship I developed with her extend beyond my college life and supports my career!
I took Professor Mary Beth's online Class, Accounting Systems Integration and Configuration, in summer. You may be prepared for the homework and dynamic lectures. Homework is not really tough but it takes time and patience to walk through the processes. You will get the amazing practice in professor's scenarios.
Prof. Goodrich's 6343&6338 gave me the best learning opportunity among all grad accounting courses. Paying high tuition means you must take SAP related course; shed be your dream professor. Even youre new to system world. Her expertise in both sys&acct helps you to have the big picture. W exercises, you can pick up easily in your future career.
I highly recommend that everyone in business major at UT Dallas should take Professor Mary Beth's class. I have taken her ACCT6338-Accounting Systems Integration and Configuration last semester, which is super helpful for my career. My current employer hired me without a second thought when he knew I have SAP background. Plus Prof. Mary is AWESOME!
This class is probably the most useful class I take in master program, it's the first time I learned the technical side of accounting, and definitely helped me well prepared for work now. Prof. Goodrich is very patient and well prepared, so are the TAs, the homework and projects of this class are VERY helpful, I highly recommend it!
I took her online course. The work load was ridiculous. She did not even have regular office hours!!!
Here class is always helpful and practical.
This class did help me a lot on my career. The professor does not just tell us what we can learn from textbooks, but also helps me to improve practical skills and soft skills. I got my first cover letter as well as resume during this class. And the tips she gave to me about interview do help me to find a job.
Took this course online, it was the worst idea ever. The professor is an extremely tough grader. She gives out ALOT of weekly assignments, homework, quizzes, projects, and discussion boards. She also provide weekly video lectures that are not very useful. Each video is about 30-60mins. I did not learn anything. I DO NOT recommend taking her.
I took her online class. She gives several chances at a good grade. Her tests are difficult. She has 3 tests and an optional project that will replace your lowest grade. She offers 5 homeworks which are 5 SAP projects, and she drops the lowest. I made a B in the class with not overly exerting myself.
Her communications class is disorganized to say the least. She would verbally give an assignment and then forget it was due or vice versa. I understand she means well and has a lot on her plate, but it is important to keep the class organized. Make sure you are good with grammar and spelling or else your grade will suffer.
More interactive than your typical class. The class goes beyond just reading about communicating to actually communicating at a high level in real world circumstances. Goodrich will push you out of your comfort zone, & has a coaching/community oriented approach to teaching. There should be more classes like this. I learned lots & have fun doing it!
Absolutely awful lectures with horribly constructed presentations. Material is not necessarily easy to grasp, slides are often overfilled with detail, and many slides are glossed over with little to no explanation. Makes it very difficult to know what to study and what to ignore if you go back to them later. Do not take this professor.
Busy work. So much busy work. Time consuming and unnecessary, and WAY too finicky about the requirements.
IS related classes are not where I am strongest. I had to work hard for my grade, however, Professor Goodrich provided ALL the tools, lectures, and support needed for me to succeed! She is organized and thorough. She provided video lectures (& power points), SAP demos, self quizzes, to name a few. I was so impressed with this online class!
The grading rubric for the semester isn't bad on paper, but there is so much work to do in the class. Be prepared to devote 4-6 hours a week just on homework, and then on top of that you have to keep up with the lectures (another 4-6 hours). The exams are fairly tricky too, however in online you can google some answers. Extra credit project at end.
Professor Goodrich is really a great professor. Her lecture is very organized, and she always provide review sheets before important tests. The assignments sometimes confuse me a lot, but Professor Goodrich will always be patient and nice to help us move on. She is very kind and helpful to students!
the content of this class is very useful for the future career. But teach is awful. She never knows how to become a good teacher. Her class is totally chaotic. Not worth to take this class.
Class is pretty easy overall. She gives you a lot of homework in the beginning of the semester(ex. creating resume, cover letter, and etc), but doing this actually helped me a lot to build my career. After the first month, class gets much easier and you just need to work on your final project for the end of semester.
Worst professor (I doubt) ever. She teaches communication but obviously, she knows nothing about how to communicate. This class is tough for her already. The way she grades is not fair at all. RUN! RUN! RUN!
Professor Goodrich is a very caring professor. She's willing to you go over your assignments prior to submission and give you great feedback which WILL improve your grade. This class has a LOT of homework at the beginning of the semester and will feel overwhelming at first. It gets easier and she's an easy grader.
She, in all honesty, didn't know what she was doing. Half of our class dropped with a W due to poor performance (Ex: 53 average on the first exam). She worked out all problems in class with the solutions manual and would look at her paper for 5+ min. so she could figure out what to do. Best way to describe it: She hasn't taught Cost since '04.
She is amazing, one of the best professors I've had at UTD. She's very nice and kind and genuinely cares about her students. The class has 7 HW, dropping lowest 2. HW is long, but if you watch her lectures then you're good. Exams are easy if you study well, all from the slides and an optional project to replace the final if you want to. TAKE HER!!
Absolutely terrible. Don't take unless you wanna cry yourself to sleep for a semester.
This is the social sector class so get ready to work in teams to help nonprofits. Her assignments could be a bit difficult but that was due to the fact that she didn't upload assignments but rather just told you what she wanted. She used a lot of discussion boards but she would regrade / give points if you talk with her
Her classes are fun. She is very lively and helpful. There are a lot of presentations so be prepared but it only helps you get over the fear of presenting if any. There is one group project over the semester with multiple deadlines and 3-4 individual assignments. It sounds like a lot of work but is doable. Should be an easy A if you submit on time.
The beginning of the semester was bad everyone was failing the exams, but she turned things around by listening to her students. The exams were open note thankfully, and the way she lectured got way better. I'm proud of her for turning things around for the better in this class. She even offered extra credit Opportunites which were super helpful!
I love professor Goodrich! You will LEARN a lot in this course with SAP. I find her lectures to be decent and the exams are open note which is awesome! The exams are somewhat difficult but doable as its open notes. She also gives LOTS OF CHANCES for people to get the grade they want. Do the extra credit and do other projects to replace test if low.
This class was daunting at first but at the end I was able to get an A. She gives bonus points AND listens to the class which is a great thing. There's lots of homework (SAP related) but there's nothing you can do about it. I do enjoy how the exams were open note which was somewhat useful but its better to listen to her lectures and take notes.
To be fair first of all I think Prof. Goodrich is genuinely passionate about SAP. However, the big problem is she is not really a good professor. She just can't put the concepts together and deliver them in an understandable way. She literally just reads her PPT, and rambles on and on without hitting the point. You're pretty much on your own.
She's very kind, friendly, and passionate about teaching. Lectures may be a bit too fast paced sometimes, but it can't be helped since you have to keep up with the textbook as well. The SAP homework projects take very long- don't do them last minute. Offers an optional project that you can do to replace the lowest exam grade or skip the final exam.
Avoid like the plague. Tons of homework every week and unclear/unorganized directions. Do yourself a favor and choose a different elective course. Never had this much homework for a course, besides maybe intermediate accounting.
Prof. Goodrich is such a poor excuse of a professor. She's so out of the loop like when she constantly relies on students to help each other b/c she hasn't even done the work that she assigns. I didn't gain much from this class at all, but an A shouldn't be too hard to get. Get ready to bang your head in frustration if you do take it. Good luck :/
28/60 dropped her class. Personally enjoyable but professionally horrible. Very unorganized and her lecture notes will not prepare you in the slightest for the exam. She will cold call on students in class to fill in her lecture notes even though that is the first time you are learning it. Very difficult and long online homework.
Class is okay. Not too easy, not too hard. This professor makes it more difficult than it should be, though. Class/instructions are often unclear and unorganized. She is a nice lady but this class was more stressful than it should have been.
Professor Goodrich is nice. However, this class gave me multiple mental breakdowns (especially before exams). But I'm glad I stuck with it and made it through. Plus, she gives opportunities for extra credit and curves heavily. TIP: do the practice problems over and over again until you can do them in your sleep to help prepare for the exams!
the class could have been easy since she drops your lowest homework and exam grades. however she's the most disorganized professor i've seen yet in terms of staying on track w the syllabus and explaining things. if you don't mind teaching yourself, go for it. even bad at responding to emails- only responded two days later after i already withdrew.
You can attempt homework problems multiple times until you get it right. The prework and homework are basically free grades, and they help you understand the subject better even though it seems annoying at first. You get extra credit for doing the postwork. If you do these and come to class there is no reason not to succeed. I HOPE she reads this!
She's one the best professors I've had! She gives amazing lectures. She's very engaging and has a lot of enthusiasm which I appreciate! She gives review sessions for each test which REALLY help. There's a good amount of homework, but I think it's very reasonable. She even offers extra credit! She gives so many resources to help you be successful!
Lol I know you are reading this and planted the two reviews right before this one after your rant in class yesterday to boost your fragile ego. Also why would anyone come forward and tell you in front of the entire class that they gave you a bad review? So you can enact your personal vendetta and purposely fail them? Lol nice try.
This is not an easy class, so if you’re not willing to do the work for it, do not take it. Professor Goodrich is a very good professor and does everything she can to help you understand the material better. There are a lot of tests in this class, but she hosts review sessions and helps us understand what will be on the test.
Professor is great at trying to get us to understand accounting and takes the time to give us quality notes. Yes there is a lot of homework and a lot of tests but she breaks up the tests into smaller units so we don’t have to study as much material for one test. She also offers extra credit for post work assignments that helps us.
This professor is awesome and helpful. Her lectures are super engaging. Best thing about her is extra-credit (BONUS), so please take advantage of that. That said, if you want good results you got to work for it. This class is not easy. There are 6 exams (2 chapters per exam), 10+ homeworks, and 10+pre-works. Also, take advantage of office hours.
She is a great professor! If you are willing to make an effort in her class she will bend over backwards to make sure you succeed. Exams are 99% multiple choice only covering 2 chapters per exam and she will usually tell you exactly which questions from notes/review will be on exams. She also gives out amazing printed note packets every class.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE LISTEN TO ME AND AVOID THIS PROFESSOR. This was the most difficult class I took at UTD, not because the class was hard, but because she makes it hard. She never finishes her lectures in class so you ALWAYS have to listen to recorded lectures outside of class as well. She never explains anything clearly and its SOOOO STRESSFUL!!
Honestly hardest professor I have ever taken at UTD. Tests are multiple choice but section out with big problems worth 20-30 points each so if you don't know how to do the big problem then you are going to miss like 10 of the questions and so forth. The other good reviews are false advertising. Bonus points are 2-3 points max. To much material..
Very hard class. Test is very heavy and so are the hw assignments. No curves either which sucks for those students that are going to class every time and are at least trying.
Simply showing up to class is worth 5.6% of your grade. Also, the textbook and homework are streamlined into one interface on a website called Connect. You need one presentation as part of your grade, which I personally didn't think was necessary to learn. She lets you drop two exam grades which lets you get out of the final (final=2 reg exams)
THE WORST! Multiple assignments due each week and basically 8 tests(2 dropped) and 1 presentation. Made you attend lectures outside of class time bc she never finished during class. plus could never schedule tests during class times. loved to call on people randomly to answer questions. only get attendance grade online if you ask/answer questions.
Online textbook access is required for the homework and costs $96. There are also graded pre-works to make sure you read the chapter before the class. Goodrich knows she teaches a difficult class and there are drop grades in addition to extra credit. If you do well on the tests and are happy with your grade, you don't have to take the final.
Such a bad lecturer and is so disorganized, she doesn't know what she is doing. The material is easy though, and she tells you exactly what problems will be on the exam. Some bonus points opportunities.
She was very nice but a terrible teacher. You have to teach yourself the entire book because her lectures are incredibly difficult to follow since she uses a fill-in-the-blank worksheet to teach rather than slides. She also had very unclear expectations for the project and exams. Would not recommend taking her if you have a choice.
The professor is good. The class is very easy but there are 5 home works that take A LOT of time. The exams are easy as long as you follow the review the professor provides and do the home work. There is also a lot of extra credit opportunity.
This professor had good lectures, but the amount of homework and the length of assignments was more than any class I've ever taken. One homework assignment took me 8 hrs to do every week. It was so hard to do this class while working, she is one of those professors that ignores your other classes and work sched, just assigns a mountain of hw.
She's very knowledgeable and caring. She allows students to work on projects instead of tests. She removes 2 homework grades at the end of the course. Would take her again in a heartbeat.
She's very knowledgeable, but a terrible professor. Gosh, the assignments (labs) she has is the most confusing thing I had to go thru during my time at jsom. Like It is not clear. Like you can't follow along, she does not give you a step-by-step guide to do the labs. It is like you have to figure it out. Gosh, she needs to do better. I dreaded it!
A brilliant accountant, but not a great professor. If you are taking managerial accounting just to fufill your credits, it would be better to take at community. I dropped the class before census date and enrolled in community. Far more easier.
This has to be the most terrible structured and confusing class I have ever taken all because of the professor. The exams are hard, but don't even get me started on the labs. The labs have to be the most non-intuitive thing I have done. They don't have any clear instructions what so ever and no one in the class knows what they are doing.
The worst! Would give horrible fill-in-blank notes, wrote very fast, and wasn't very good at explaining the material. She also gave homework nearly twice a week and her exams are some of the most difficult exams I've taken at UTD. After I dropped the class before the census day, she didn't even show up for the second half of the semester!
Do not take with other heavy courses. HWs take 3-5 hours so be mindful of what other classes you take in conjunction with this one. The professor is passionate and considering.
Would rate 0 if I could. Worst professor I have ever had. Not a good lecturer at all, hardly explains the material and her handwriting is terrible. Tons of unnecessary HW and the exams are difficult. Someone left a bad rate my professor review and she went on a 20 min rant to the class, and she threatened to remove the extra credit. Run.
The exams (3) have a lot of material, especially the 2nd one, and she doesn't go over all of it in class. The HW (6) is very, very, very time-consuming, so plan ahead. She drops 2 HW assignments and allows 2 optional projects to replace the final or another exam. Her class is not easy, but she is nice, and I gained some knowledge about SAP and RPA.
I took professor Goodrich's Senior capstone class. The class was very fun and engaging, we had a group project to submit for an actual client and we worked with students in the UK as well. The class is heavily graded on presentations and rubrics. But sometimes the rubric grading contradicted the feedback given. Overall, a great class and professor.
I don't believe her type of teaching was for me. She goes through lectures, labs, and anything extremely fast and does not try to build upon topics that the students can understand. Unfortunately, she cold calls on people in class if no one participates and sets up class participation games that just do not make sense even after it's over ;(
Would not recommend taking BPS with her if you don't have to. She's an alright professor, but the organization of the class was not the best. She seems to really like the class and gives good feedback but I found her annoying and sometimes petty. She picks favorites so if you attend class, laugh at her jokes, and show engagement she'll like you.
Prof Goodrich is very reputable and knowledgeable in the subject area. She prepares awesome opportunities for the Capstone course. There are some tedious, stupid assignments in this class, but you'll be graded majority on project/presentation. She is lenient on attendance as long as you get your work done in your team. She's fun, I recommend her!
Lots of HW which are timeconsuming and can be confusing.
Absolutely unbearable. She lacks communication skills and can't hold a meaningful conversation. Expects perfect attendance and deducts points for nonsense. The class? A waste of time—just endless stories about China and Italy. Zero empathy—if you're sick, too bad! Miss a day? Points lost. Rigid, tedious, and completely unhelpful. Avoid!
Horrible professor. Do not take her. That's all I got to say
She expects this to be a full time job in a way which is very frustrating. She's a horrible communicator and makes the class feel on edge every second. She doesn't care if you're not able to make it to class for whatever reason you will lose points. The structure of the class is terrible.
Don't take her, just don't.
She doesn't understand that there's other things that are important other than this class. Asking us to do so much work when we are already working with a client and then on top of that having to deal with her is not something I signed up for. She just overcomplicates this class for sure.
I took this project for the schedule convenience, but honestly, I would have rather taken a three-hour weekend class.
This professor is just terrible, you guys. HWs are 5 hours +, and 6 HWs all semester, which gets more complex over time. Her exams are way too hard; the class average was in the 60s most of the time. She doesn't curve, and she will offer two optional projects to replace exams if higher than the exams; however, these projects were Insane worst prof
Prof Goodrich is a nice professor, but instructions can be hard to understand sometimes. Also, way too many ways to communication she instructs. Contacting her isnt streamlined through one way, which I believe causes an issue in getting a response in time. Takes way too long to reply back sometimes,
Take another elective, this is one of the worst classes to ever take at UTD. The hws takes hours to complete, exams don't correlate with the class material, and extra credit opportunities are harder than hws. The TA is more helpful and useful than the professor herself. Attendance "isn't" mandatory; better attend and listen, or you're cooked.
I disagree with the other BPS 4395 raters, Professor Goodrich was great despite the project being very difficult. She communicated in a timely manner via MS Teams, office hours and checked in with all the groups to provide feedback and advice. My advice to the complainers, spend more time trying to find ways to achieve results rather than sulking.
learned absolutely nothing
do not take this professor if you have any other option. Her class is hard to navigate for whatever reason. You get meaningless assignments that take forever and have nothing to do with the material. Deadlines, communication, and favoritism is all over the place. projects are hard to know what she's expecting cuz there's no explicit instructions
I attended the 3-hour night class and felt motivated to participate. Prof. Goodrich is an outstanding instructor! The content is challenging, but her passion makes it engaging. She encourages participation, is responsive to emails, and I'd definitely take her again. Talking to her after class is great. She's genuinely a lovely person all around.
Professor Goodrich is a great professor. I don't know why there is so many negative reviews about her. Attendance is not mandatory, but best to go to get bonus points especially reviewing for exams. She does push you to do well on the MOS exam. Overall, you should take her and she will help you as well as the TA.
There are three exams for this class, each worth 100 points, six homework assignments worth 50 points total, and a group project worth 50 points. The homework can take a few hours to complete, but it isn't too bad overall. The exams are difficult, and the class average was around a 60. There are two optional projects to replace the test grade.
