She is a good professor. She is very nice and personable and she hates tests so there is only a midterm and a final. Both of these are very easy. sometimes she is unclear about things but if you ask her for help it becomes clear. I recommend her for any psych class.
She's really nice, and doesn't like big exams, so she gives 6 15-point quizzes instead of huge tests-- very nice! Her powerpoints are great, and she really knows how to teach the class so it's interesting. Take Psychology with her!!
She pretends to be very helpful but then stabs you in the back. She helped me multiple times on my drafts of paper, but then when I got it back with a final grade I did horrible, even though I had her help. She is extremely easy, which caused me to learn little in her class because her study guides were exactly what her tests were like.
She's really nice and knows her stuff. She's a new prof but she seems to know how to teach.
I'm not a Education Major, but this class gave me more insight as to how to be a better student. Dr. Leibham relates really well to her students and is ALWAYS willing to help. I don't think I've met a nicer professor than her. I thought the assignments were easy (but I didn't care for the article critiques). I'd highly recommend her!
Dr. Leibham is by far one of the best professors I have had here at EC. She's so helpful, and extremely personable. Her lectures are very interesting, and she is so passionate about ed. psych. If you don't take her, you are missing out on a great academic opportunity!
not bad for a psychology class and she's kind of cute
Dr. Leibham is a great teacher. Her class is hard for a psychology class, but its the first time I actually feel like I am learning and being challenged in college. I could tell that she loves what she teaches and that helps motivate me. She's very friendly and extremely helpful.
I believe this is one of the best classes I have take at E.C so far. She is a little hard but she will go out of her way to help you. Study for everything, read over every chapter, and go in for help if you need it. You will do fine if you pay attention in class to. She believes in higher-level thinking so make sure you understand everything.
Tough grader but a good professor. Makes 1 hr and 40 mins seem like 50 mins.
Mary Beth is a GREAT prof, one of the best I've ever had. She loves Ed. Psyc and that is evident in her teaching. If your going to be a teacher, take this class with her b/c you will be amazed at what you learn and if you use it later on, you will be a better teacher b/c of it. Wonderful, Wonderful prof.
One of the best professor I had. The work load are so-so. Not too bad. The grading is easy. Again, one of the best effective professor out there.
I liked the class even though it was hard to get an A in it. There is a lot of work but it's not all the same stuff. I learned so much, probably more than any other class. She is so sweet and knows alot.
Doesn't seem like an easy class, but she does seem nice and very helpful. I think I will learn a lot in this class. She seems to know a lot and tries to make the material useful to all majors. She's having a baby in a few weeks which is kind of cool.
Leibham was a great professor when she was in class. She had a baby in the middle of the semester and didn't come to class for a while after that. We had a sub and that seemed unfair. Leibham should have been there since she was the real teacher. But when she came back she was great. She's very nice and taught me alot. There was a lot of work
Dr. Leibham was great. She is one of the nicest people I have ever met. She seems so understanding and caring. She taught me so much and made me really think. She knows how to present material so that students understand it. My only regret is that I won't have a chance to take another class with her. I highly recommend her. One of the best.
Liebham is a wonderful lady. She is so nice, and very patient, she really wants you to learn and to understand. There are online quizes based on the readings from the books, and tons of different ways to get points, she doesn't limit it to tests like other teachers, which is great for any learning style. I would definitely recommend her. Shes great
I really like Dr. Leibham. She is so smart but is not at all intimidating. She is very down to earth and finds ways to make herself seem real. Although she is a professor she doesn't talk down to students. She actually knows how to teach and help students learn. I'm glad I took her class and wish she taught more classes in my major.
Great teacher, dont know what else to say, i disagreed with her on a lot of things but class was fun.
Hard class. I actually studied and read the book and didn't get an A. It was worth it because she is a good teacher and made the class interesting. She can be funny and is pretty, so that made it easier to go to class.
Wonderful, wonderful teacher and has the cutest baby I've ever seen. She brought him to the final exam. Very genuine and happy.
I love Mary Beth! She is the sweetest woman ever, very approachable, very knowledgable, and sincerely wants you to learn and take as much from the course as you can! If you get a chance to take a course with her do it!!
Take good notes, study them well, and you should do fine. She can be a bit dry, but at least she's clear. She's all about changing the misconceptions that you bring with you to class, which can get annoying when she expects students to answer a question wrong so she can make them an example of how misinformed people are. But, at least she's clear.
I have so much respect for Dr. Leibham. She is by far one of the best teachers I've had. She's interesting, gives great examples, and makes me think. I didn't know what ed. psych was before takig this class and now I wish I took it sooner. She is so nice and easy to talk to. I'll definitely take another one of her classes if I can.
Yes, she's tough, but so nice and helpful. She actually makes it feel like a college class. I wasn't sure if I wanted to be a psychology major but because of her I am going to stay in the major.
Professor Leibham is incredibly intimidating in some aspects of the class and I don't really enjoy her class very much because of it. She is knowledgeable though and can be really enjoyable as well. She has a tough class but if you pay attention you can do well.
Dr. Leibham is by far a great professor. She started teaching the class in October after the other professor got sick. I've learned more since she's been there than I did before. She is nice, funny, and so interesting. I'm considering taking the class again just so I can have her the entire semester. She is patient and has great examples of the
wonderful, wonderful professor. can't say enough good about her. take anything she teaches!
I'll agree that she's a little intimidating at first. But she means really well. She is super nice and is always willing to help. There is a lot of work for just a one credit class, but everything we've had to do is well worth it in the end.
At first she is very intimidating, but if you get to know her outside of class she is very cool. I really enjoyed talking with her and she is always eager to help. She is very knowledgable about what she teaches! She's a great professor, just be sure to get to know her!
Prof. Leibham was a good professor. She was clear, interesting, passionate, and at times very funny. I loved the stories she told about her son and how she related them to class material. She painted a cool picture of herself as a mom. Warning: she won't budge on grades or dealines and the tests were difficult.
She's my advisor and I've had her in class. As an advisor, she is very nice and very helpful. She's very personable. As a professor she is also very nice, but somewhat tough. Her assignments require a lot of out of class work and even having to find journal articles. You probably learn a lot, but there are easier classes out there.
She's tough, but a really nice person. She loves what she teaches and you will learn a lot, but her projects require a lot of work. Intimidating at first, but overall a really great teacher. I would definitely recommend her if you're willing to do some outside of class work.
She's very smart, and expects students to push themselves to their full potential. I have the most respect for her, and she does care for her students. If you have a problem you can go to her and she will help. You will learn a lot from this class, and the work isn't too tough when you look at what it could be.
I loved Professor Leibham. She was an absolutely amazing professor who made sure that you gained the most of your time spent in her classroom. She's funny, interesting, and keeps class diverse. Although her assignments (espeically quizzes) weren't easy, I still know that I've gotten an amazing amount of knowledge from her class. She's great!
She's fantastic! She's really tough, but loves what she teaches and is always willing to meet outside of class to help. Take her if you can!
I had Leibham last semester (she was very, very pregnant!) and loved her. She has a lot of enthusiasm about ed psych and was very interesting to listen to. I agree that she's tough but she was also supportive. Because of that I learned a lot.
Attendance mandatory! You get 5 pts a day for it. Very boring class and teacher. Class is almost useless except for 1 assignment. A couple of papers which are difficult and time consuming. Graded hardish. I was always uncomfortable around her just because she seemed strict. Not a class I enjoyed and she didn't help that at all!
She gives a lot of work for a one credit class, but its not very hard and most of it I have found to be useful. She is a little intimidating at first, but overall has been friendly and usually lets class out early. Easy A if you do the work
Great professor. Dr. Leibham is caring, smart, interesting, and friendly. I learned more in this class than I did in any other class last semester. She loves what she teaches and really knows her stuff. I highly recommend her. Very positive experience.
Hard class. I worked my #$@ off and had to do the reading in order to get a B+. She has high standards and makes you do more than just tests. But she's nice and helpful. The content is interesting and she knows what she's talking about. I have to admit that I actually learned.
Loved the class. Loved the professor. Dr. Leibham is young and relates well to students. She is intelligent but doesn't talk above us. She is funny. She is a tough grader and expects students to work hard. Seems like a great person overall.
This was a difficult class with a heavy workload. Despite that, it was possible to get a good grade if you put forth the effort. Leibham has to be one of the most passionate professors out there and she is one of the nicest people I've ever met. She shared her own adolescent experiences and it made many of the theories easier to understand.
Knowledgeable, interesting, fun sense of humor, and very, very nice. Doesn't play favorites and treats everyone with much respect. Did I sayt that she is extremely nice?
Fantastic professor. Super nice and helpful. Very smart but not arrogant. The class isn't very interesting because it's going over dry psych details, but it's important information you have to know if you're going to be a psych major.
Dr. Leibham is SO down to earth. She's incredibly smart, but very modest. She expects a lot from her students, but will do a lot to help them succeed. Definitely take her!
I'm a senior and this is by far the best professor I have ever had at UWEC. I've never felt so comfortable, interested, and respected in a class. She can be funny too.
She is so nice! She is approachable and she seems like she actually cares about her students. It seemed like a lot of work for only a 1 credit class, but I feel prepared for the rest of college now that I've taken it. It's a good class and she's a great professor!
Dr. L is amazing! She is really nice, and is willing to help you with ANYTHING, even random life stuff. The class is a lot of work, but it will really help you with the psych major. I definitely recommend her.
Dr. Leibham is very upbeat and interesting. Her semester started with a very sad family tragedy and she somehow found a way to be cheerful in all classes even though you could tell she was suffering a loss. She was inspiring as a teacher and as a person. I'll remember her for a long time.
I really like Dr. Leibham. The class is a lot of work, but she more than makes up for that with her very sweet and caring nature. She is as far from arrogant as you could get and frankly, she could be more arrogant given her smartness and ability to teach.
By far the best professor I have ever had at Eau Claire! She is an educational psychologist-so she knows the best ways that people learn and has used that knowledge to design her class. AMAZING!
Highly recommended. She is so dedicated to teaching and cares about students. You have to read to do well and she goes fast, but it's reasonable. She knows how to teach. She starts a lot of topics by saying "This theory is so cool" or "I think this is fascinating." In reality, it isn't always that exciting, but it's neat that she thinks it is.
She is my favorite professor ever. Most helpful professor I have come across. You can email her your papers and she will review them and send comments back.Class is not mandatory but I would never want to miss.Time fly's while in class, she brings real life events into her teaching! 6 quizzes including final(16 questions) a few papers but don't worry
Leibham is amazing! She really knows what she is talking about. I would recommend her to anyone. Even if you aren't an education major, consider taking one of her classes. She is amazing. She is challenging but a great teacher and a great person.
This is my favorite professor I have ever had out of my four years here. She is so wonderful and passionate!
I love this class and the professor. At times it seems like a lot of work, but it's not as bad as other classes. She's nice and clearly loves the topic of adolescent psych. She may be one of the best teachers out there because she's interesting, understanding, and knows so much. She never makes us feel dumb or inferior.
If you're looking for an easy class or if you hate PSYC and need an understanding professor..AVOID HER! Shes super nice, but shes a really hard grader and her assignments take FOREVER! She forgets that we?re not experts in the field and that a majority of the students are only there because its required. I have all As and now C becuase of her class
Wonderful professor! Very helpful and willing to answer any questions you have. Will even look over your writing before its due and give you tips. Covers material clearly and includes interesting topics. Concepts and assignments aren't hard to understand if you read. Very fair grader.
She is so sweet and helpful. I've learned a lot because of her and think she's the perfect professor to have my first semester of college. The only thing I didn't like is that I wanted to meet with her and all of her sign-up times were full and it took a week before we could find a time that she was available.
Dr. Leibham has very high expectations and even though it's a freshman class she requires a lot of work. Even though she is strict she is incredibly nice and caring. She seems super smart and that was intimidating, but she wasn't full of herself in any way. Just really really smart. I learned so much.
Very, very hard grader. She is nice and more helpful than most professors, but she's definitely going to make you work. I recommend this class if you are highly interested in child development, have time to do the work, and want a teacher who knows what she is talking about.
Excellent professor, but very tough grader. She really knows what she's teaching and you can tell she really enjoys it. This class is a lot of work and not an easy A, but if you enjoy child development I definitely suggest her. If not, I wouldn't bother. You'll have your work cut out for you. Assignments are also weekly and very time consuming!
Hands down the best professor I have had. For the first time since being in college, I actually learned something useful and interesting. Amazing. And to top it off, she is simply a nice person who clearly likes her job (and life).
I've had Dr. Leibham for 3 classes and she is incredible. Not an easy A but she is kind, interesting, a very good teacher and all around neat person.
Fantastic professor. So knowledgeable and personable. Very, very passionate about human exceptionality. Talked openly about coming to terms with her son's genetic disorder and it made her seem real. I had both Leibham and Goodman this semester and as a senior psych major who had most of the professors here, these are the two I'll remember.
I didn't think a terrible psychology professor existed at UWEC until I had her. You go see her for help before something is due, she helps you, you still get a B. She encourages and loves class participation and acts like everything you say is right. You get an exam and suddenly everything you learned is WAY WRONG. Very deceptive class. AVOID!
I really like Dr. Leibham and am so glad I waited to get into her class. For the most part, class is interesting and she is passionate. It's not an easy class, but she is very kind and overall an effective teacher.
Easy class, GREAT professor! She spends as much time as you need answering questions, very willing to meet during office hours. Recommend her for any class!
This is the best professor I have ever had. She is one of the very few professors at UWEC that works hard, in order for students to learn and make your money spent worthwhile. I have taken 3 classes with her and every class has been a great experience, thanks to her.
This was one of the easiest classes I have ever taken. But don't let that entice you. The hour and a half was the slowest ever. Ultimately, this class was useless. If you can avoid- do so. best thing- she never gives students eye contact. She looks strait over their heads.
This class helped me figure out that psychology wasn't the best major for me, but Dr. Leibham was amazing. The degree plan assignment was hard but worth it and she helped answer questions that my advisor didn't know the answers to. If I was staying in the major, I would take any class she taught. She was a great teaher and very nice.
So far, so good. She seems very nice, very organized, and enthusiastic about the content. The class is definitely more interesting than I had anticipated. My only concern is that she may not make it through the whole semester because she is pregnant with twins and I don't know who would cover for her.
I am in Leibham's child psych class and I adore her. She is very organized so we know exactly what is expected of us. She makes most of the content interesting. She knows a lot about the topic and is very smart. She is very down to earth and someone you can't help but like. Oh, and it's fun seeing her pregnant with twins!!
This class helped me realize I didn't want to be a psych major. It's a great class; it will either show you psychology is right for you or make you want to switch immediately! Dr. Leibham wants the class to help you, and thinks it's even more beneficial when you realize you don't want to be a psych major. Super nice lady!
I had Dr. Leibham for two classes this Spring and it was a great experience. I am taking her again in the Fall because I think that she is one of the best professors here. She does expect a lot of work, and getting an A is hard, but she is worth it because of how nice, organized, knowledgeable, and caring she is.
Good professor, interesting class, hard quizzes, harsh grading. Her teaching is effective and it's hard not to pay attention to her, even for an almost two hour class. She seems passionate about teaching and really respects students.
Hardest quizzes I've ever taken because you can't just memorize information and get an A. There are other assignments and that helps, but she is a tougher grader than other profs. I like her teaching style a lot. She is very organized, knows the content, very motivated to teach us, and incredibly nice and approachable. Highly recommend.
One of the best professors here. She knows how to teach, is very approachable & friendly, & is an exemplary instructor. Her quizzes & assignments are fair. It is nearly impossible to do poorly if you are engaged & put effort into knowing the concepts & applying them. She provides relevant examples and genuinely cares about her students.
Great teacher and wonderful person. Quizzes and papers aren't easy and she does grade hard, but the class is interesting and she knows how to teach. She is probably one of the nicest people I've ever met and has a neat perspective on life.
This class was a wonderful learning experience. The only negative comment I could make is that it took Dr. Leibham a while to get work graded. Other than that, she is great and the class is interesting. She is very motivating and a great role model.
I loved this class and Dr. Leibham. The only class I actually wanted to attend this semester. She's amazing and so committed to her students.
Dr. Leibham is one of the best professors I have ever had. I would think about what we learned during class for the rest of the day. She is clear and so intelligent. Her quizzes are tough, but it's worth taking her for how much you learn.
This is by far one of the best professors I have had. She has hard quizzes and writing assignments, but it's worth the hard work because of how much I'm learning. It's rare that a class and professor impact me like Dr. L. does. All students should have at least one class with someone like her.
I like Leibham. She's organized, passionate, and very personable. She is willing to meet with students outside of class and she is easy to talk to. I appreciated the fact that she didn't make the class easy and tried to make us think about the material as opposed to regurgitate it like so many other profs do. I wish she taught more psych courses.
Dr. Leibham's class is not easy and requires work and reading the book. But she is such a good teacher and wonderful person that you actually want to do well in her class. Her teaching and her perspectives have impacted me.
I had heard really good things about Dr. Leibham before taking this class and now I know why. Not only is she a great teacher who knows how to teach in a way that makes students think but she is very easy to relate to, caring, and an all around great person. She seems very passionate about teaching, learning, parenting, and child development.
Dr. Leibham is a wonderful person. She can and will keep you engaged for the entire class. Article reviews are graded sometimes seemingly a little too harshly. Quizzes are hard, but not unfair. Learned a lot from her!
Cons: Quizzes are hard and some content is boring. There are always students in her office and it's hard to get an appt. with her. She takes a while to grade papers. Sometimes seems too busy. Pros: She makes you think and makes class worthwhile. Connects with students. Awesome attitude. Very genuine. The type of teacher you'll remember.
Dr. Leibham knows her field very well, and her courses reflect that. Overall, PSYC 261 is difficult if you have the intent of getting an "A," but what you get out of the class is much more important than the grade. I would definitely recommend her for all Ed students!
Dr. Leibham is the best. She is an incredibly thoughtful and sweet person. She expects the highest quality of work from her students, and it is by no means an easy class, but the content is interesting and Dr. Leibham does a great job of making the class engaging, even in spite of it being a 100 minute class period. Overall Awesome Professor!
I learned a TON in this class. Dr. L. knows so much and may be the best professor I have ever had, but she is so humble and personable. I have never been sad to leave a final exam until her class. Dr. L. has impacted my life in many ways and I will probably think about her and all I learned in her class many times in the years ahead.
Highly recommend this professor. I've never written a review before on this website, but I loved this teacher so much that I felt the need to spread the word. TAKE HER CLASS. It's hard, but if you put the work in you learn a lot.
Nothing about Dr. Leibham's class is easy. She can be funny, is very bright, and easy to talk with one-on-one. She wants us to learn and that is obvious in her teaching methods. I have to commend her for being able to talk about very controversial topics such as religion, race, and economic status in a comfortable and open-minded way.
Dr. Leibham is an outstanding teacher. Very organized, reasonable expectations even though some assignments are time-consuming, and genuinely nice and caring (although I'll admit that I was intimidated by her at first). Make the effort to meet with her outside of class. She is so relatable and helpful. Awesome attitude that really inspired me.
I would take any class that Dr. Leibham teaches if I could. I learned as much from the class content as I did from Dr. Leibham herself. I didn't always like what she said (like when she talked about extrinsic motivation and grades) but she made me think. She cares about students, is very passionate about teaching and children, and very inspiring.
This was one class I did not want to skip and I left every class feeling excited about something I learned. I have the utmost respect for Professor Leibham because of her ability to challenge my thinking and her ability to weave some valuable life lessons into her teaching.
Leibham is phenomenal. She taught in a way that made the content memorable and valuable. She went out of her way to connect what is otherwise boring content to our lives. She is so upbeat and positive and funny too. Most days I sat there in awe of her. She really is that good. (but don't expect an A in her class - they are hard to come by).
Hands down the best professor I have ever had. She is so inspirational, and she really does care about each and every student. She has great examples and life experiences to share with the class, and she is very clear in what she expects of you. You have to work hard for the A, but you learn so much. Best course I have ever taken. TAKE HER!
Professor Leibham is my absolute favorite professor on campus! While her class is not super easy you if you do the work, you actually learn a lot! There are periodic quizzes, but if you pay attention during class and read the book, they're not too bad! They're challenging, but definitely doable! This professor genuinely cares about students!
Dr. Leibham is my adviser, but also my favorite professor on campus. Her lectures are always engaging and she uses a lot of real world examples. She cares immensely for her students, and it shows in everything she does. If you're looking for challenging material, to be held to high standards, and want feedback, I'd absolutely recommend her.
Dr. Leibham is fantastic. She's always smiling, is enthusiastic, and makes lectures enjoyable by using lots of real-world examples. 5 quizzes and 4 papers- she really makes you work for your grade because she cares about your learning. Highly recommend her. She can be condescending, but overall she is top-notch. Would take another course w/ her.
5 random pop quizzes worth 3 points, but in this class, you want all the points you can get because there aren't THAT many offered. A few papers that take time, but they're very interesting and easy to do. Leibham is a good grader, she's not too strict & not too lenient. She is a wonderful woman. I'd take this class again. Tests (quizzes) are hard!
One of the best professors at the university! She is so genuine about wanting her students to be successful in the future. Her class doesn't just fill your head with boring material, it prepares you for real life application. All of the assignments and lectures are well organized, clear, and useful- there isn't much busy work.
Dr. Leibham is my absolute favorite professor at UWEC. She makes lecture interesting and really makes connections between the material and everyday life (she uses examples of her kids a lot which are usually hilarious). Great professor, very inspirational.
She is an incredibly inspirational woman; I look up to her so much. Her lectures fly by because you are so interested in the material; she also keeps up to date with current research. She speaks with great experience and will push you to see another side of disability. TAKE THIS CLASS SHE IS AMAZING. It can be a great upper level GEIII.
Dr. Leibham is one of the best professors I have had here! She inspired me to take on a psychology minor and peaked my interest in educational psychology. All of her lectures are so interesting, easy to listen to, and funny. This class was by no means easy, but doing the work wasn't bad because the material was so interesting!
She is my favorite professor at UWEC. Her quizzes are hard but not impossible. The papers are on interesting topics and the directions are so straightforward it's hard to get a bad score on them. She connects all class content to real life and has a way of really connecting with college students. I've learned more in this class than any other class
Great professor, knows her information, can be easy grader, interesting stories to tell. Her upper division classes do interteaches (answering questions using book). Be prepared to go over answer in random groups. Both her lower and upper division classes do article reviews, which can be tedious but can be interesting and helps with exams. Take her
Best professor I have ever had. Usually I am watching the clock waiting to leave, but her lectures are s compelling and interesting that I do not even notice when it is time to leave. Make sure to read the textbook, otherwise you will not do well. LOVE HER!
Absolutely inspiring. Such an interesting class. Essays are worth more points than quizzes (no exams). Essays have super clear rubric and if you go to office hours she will tell you exactly what to change/add. Quizzes are difficult but not impossible. Read the book and pay attention in class and you will do well. Great class, great professor.
Great professor! Very interesting class for anyone wanting to work with or for children. Lecture/slide heavy. Only 1 (group) exam. Final is a reflection paper. Lots of interteaches (5). Article reviews (2). Offers extra credit for SONA research participation (up to 4 pts). Covers a wide range of exceptionalities (disabilities). Loved this class!
Dr. Leibham is a phenomenal prof! She really knows the subject and cares about her students. She can appear a bit cold during lectures, but she's truly a wonderful person if you go to her office hours. She provides excellent examples for each concept.
I didn't think it was possible for a class to impact me so greatly, but this class did. Dr. Leibham is incredible and it's clear that her heart and soul isn't just in the area of child psychology, but in her students too. She is strict and pushes students to think, but she smiles all the time and cares deeply about us so it makes the challenge okay
Dr. Leibham changed my entire perspective on learning. Seriously take her, she is so down to earth and is so well versed in her content area. You will be excited to go to class! Work hard and you will get a good grade!
Dr. Leibham doesn't just know her stuff she's an incredible teacher. In this class you will learn more than a few tools if you decide to go into education. She also addresses how to study effectively, properly analyze information, and encourages you to take learning to the next level. Great class for any major if you want to improve upon learning.
Such an inspiring teacher. I am lucky to have had Dr. Leibham for both child psych and Ed psych and know that I will be a better teacher because of her. I loved her passion, happiness, and ability to make class content interesting and relevant. She is a great speaker and very memorable. Probably the kindest person I have ever met too.
I wrote more in this class than I did in my writing classes. Once you figure out her criteria and how she grades, you'll be fine but expect to put a lot of work into this class.
Mary Beth is an amazing professor! She backs up all her definitions with examples to help you understand and remember the terms. She is willing to meet outside of her office hours to look over your article summaries. She looked over two of my article summaries and told me exactly what to change. I ended up getting 100% on both! Take this class!
Puts more effort into talking about her kids and home life than on lecture material. Barely stays on topic with class matter
Dr. Leibham was one of my favorite professors at UWEC. It was hard to get into one of her classes until my last semester, otherwise I would taken her other classes too. She is clear and VERY passionate about child psych. She is so interesting to listen to and makes difficult concepts understandable. Not an easy A though.
Dr. Leibham is very knowledgable about her field. You can tell from day one she is passionate about her job and the material she teaches. She is great at clarifying anything that might be difficult and is super willing to help you outside of class in office hours. Put the work in and be engaged and you should have no problem with the class/material
Dr. Leibhams child psych class is absolutely thought-provoking and I leave every class feeling like I learned something worthwhile. She is genuine and its obvious that she cares a lot about children and child welfare. She knows so much, which can be intimidating at times, but she is very approachable and very, very sweet.
Dr. Leibham's class is one of the best classes I have ever had. She is engaging, enthusiastic, and easy to relate to. She gives concrete examples for everything we need to learn and she is highly knowledgeable about child development and education. She is the first teacher who made me feel like I am worth more than a grade. Very memorable professor
Dr. Leibham is wonderful. My favorite class to come to and I learned alot. Content is interesting though can be tricky to grasp. Great about questions and feedback. 5 quizes/tests on 2-3 chapters, ours were online for first time ever. Read the book chapters before the quizes, attend lecture, pay attention to her great examples and you'll do fine
A nice person, but god, she is SO repetitive. If you already know the basics of psych/DDIV, you are going to be bored out of your mind. She has good intentions and tries to be woke but often ends up missing the mark a bit. She's bearable, but not my first choice. Would recommend her for someone who needs LOTS of examples!
I took two of Leibham's classes and she was one of the best teachers I've ever had. Very organized, extremely compassionate, and so knowledgeable. Handled the transition to online learning due to COVID better than any other professor I had. She is very easy to relate to.
Prof. Leibham is great! She transitioned to online the best out of all my profs. and did her best to reach out to us and keep everything as low-stress as possible. She really cares a lot about students and ed. psych. This was the class I read the most for--had to read all of the assigned chapters in order to do assignments/quizzes. Good lectures!
All in all, she was a good professor. However, I felt like questions on her interteaches could have been more clear. She often used synonyms or alternative terms that differed from what the textbook used causing unnecessary confusion. I also felt like there was some inconsistency in grading. She seems like she would be helpful in office hours!
Dr. Leibhams child psych class is worth taking. I am not a psych major but love the class and her teaching style. She is passionate about children and very smart but doesnt talk over our heads. She is extremely nice and and easy to relate to. Handles the whole Covid hybrid thing okay but I wish I took her class in a normal semester.
Dr. Leibhams excitement for children and education makes it easy to be interested in her class. I actually look forward to her class and find everything we are learning to be applicable to my life and to my teaching career. She is very relatable and caring. Not an easy class, but I am learning so much. She is a wonderful person.
Dr. Leibham is an okay choice. The weekly quizzes are on multiple, long chapters in the textbook and you must read all of it as well as pay attention during the entirety of every class period in order to do well on them. She is a very tough grader on the 7 or so long, difficult papers throughout the semester. That said, she knows a lot and is kind.
I love Leibham and all of her classes. She is so enthusiastic and passionate about children and she made me think about so many issues I had never even considered (student well-being, achievement gap). No, her classes aren't easy, but it's because she wants students to learn and not just regurgitate info. She is an engaging speaker and very caring.
Dr. Leibham is very smart and explains the content well. She is able to give examples that make things relatable to real life. She makes students work for the grade so dont take her classes if you need an easy class. She has high expectations but you actually learn content and cant just memorize. She is caring and has tons of passion for teaching
Professor Leibham seems to be very interested and knowledgeable about her content area. However, the quizzes are very difficult and if you miss class for any reason (excused or unexcused), she does not let you make up what you missed. You will have to work hard for your grade and that can be very frustrating at times.
Super enthusiastic professor. LOVES talking about teaching and child development. Expects a lot. Moderate but manageable workload. Dr. Leibham is like the mom who makes their kid eat vegetables. They do it because they know the kid CAN do it and they know it's good for them. She makes students think and work hard. Very supportive and personable.
One of the worst professors I have ever had. Quizzes are ungodly hard, even after studying for hours on end, and she never wants to be held accountable for anything, always makes excuses for her poor teaching. Topic is interesting enough and she seems to know a lot about it, but she is NOT meant to be a professor. Take another professor for sure.
She was very accommodating and caring when I was dealing with a mental health issue. It wasn't ideal that the class had to be hybrid due to covid but everything on Canvas was well organized and her in-person classes were interesting. One of the few classes that felt like a college class and wasn't busy work. I actually learned. Highly recommend.
Awesome class, amazing professor. Dr. Leibham brings so much energy and passion to the class and loves what she teaches. So much of what she teaches will stick with me when I am an elementary teacher. Her class may be the most memorable and impactful class I have ever had. She is organized, smart, and caring. Makes you work for the grade though.
I took this class for a psych major elective and now want to be an teacher because of the passion for children Dr. Leibham inspired in me. I did not want this class to end. I didnt just learn about children, but learned many life lessons too, like how important mistakes are for well being and success. I wish Dr. Leibham taught child psych part 2.
Dr. Leibham is wonderful. In the year of pandemic weirdness and lousy school experiences, this class and Dr. Leibham was a bright light. She is definitely one of the best professors I have had. She made content interesting and was very passionate about children. She was organized and reasonable with workload. Really nice person too.
Dr. Leibham is so passionate about education, teachers, and kids and brings a lot of energy into the classroom. It is easy to be interested in her class. There is a lot of reading and she can be a tough grader. She is clear, organized, and incredibly invested in helping her students learning practical information for working with kids and teens.
Probably the worst professor Ive ever had. Class time hardly covers any content because shes so incredibly slow and repetitive. Youre lucky if you get through 3 slides in 45 minutes. Definitely the most bored I have ever been in a class. I was most excited about this class this semester & now its the one I dread going to the most.
Dr. Leibhams drive and energy for teaching and learning is very motivating and makes me more confident in my choice to major in education. She is organized, clear, and gives great examples. She was also super understanding when I missed a deadline. Her tests are hard but she is fair and I am learning a lot because of how she teaches the content.
I have never had a professor who put so much energy into class and making sure that students understand how the content applies to their lives and careers. Dr. Leibham has a great presentation style and offers really good examples of concepts. She expects a lot and won't give easy A's, but she truly cares about college students, teens, and kids.
It took me three semesters before I could get into Leibhams child psych class, but it was so worth it. She definitely knows the content and makes it apparent that she enjoys all things related to children and loves teaching this class. She also sees her students as humans and not just students and cares about us. Highly recommend her classes.
I'm so thankful I took PSYC 260 with Dr. Leibham. It has honestly been one of my favorite courses (and professors) of my 3 years at UWEC. She connects the content so well to every-day life and is so willing to answer questions about the material. She is the first professor I have encountered that truly cares about student well-being.
Everybody needs to have a teacher like Dr. Leibham. Maybe if she was teaching in middle and high schools there would be fewer mental health issues all around. This class and Dr. L made me realize that more kids need to hear that they are worth more than a grade and you can actually learn when a teacher sees you as a person and cares.
Dr. Leibham is great. Super energetic, passionate about the content, and organized. She knows her stuff and is very smart but seems to care more about students understanding the content than having others know she is super smart. She is relatable and easy going but also makes you earn your grade. She makes me excited to work with children.
Leibham is a hard grader but what makes her class worthwhile is the fact that she can take confusing concepts and academic jargon and explain them clearly and help students know why this content matters for real life settings, especially settings with children, teens, and teachers. She is a great speaker, inspiring, and a very nice person.
This class and Dr. Leibham inspire me. Dr. L has exponentially increased my passion for working with kids. I really respect her and appreciate how real she is. She makes it clear that working with kids won’t be easy but her knowledge of child psych and her ability to teach make me more confident that I can impact kids positively.
Unbelievably caring and supportive professor who puts SOOOOO much energy and passion into her class. I am excited to attend class and the time flies because she is a great speaker and holds my interest. Most importantly, I see connections between what she teaches and what I need to know as a future teacher. Plus, watching her teach inspires me.
She is super organized which makes assignments and tests more manageable. She cares so much about her students and is a really effective teacher. Her content is applicable and inspiring for anyone who will work with people. She does go on tangents and her lectures are really slow paced so if that's your jam, she is perfect.
Love this class and the professor. I am blown away by how things just click in this class. I learned about a lot of these ideas in previous classes but Leibham teaches with such passion and skill that things make more sense after she explains them. Not an easy class and she challenges students' thinking, but if you want to learn, it is worth it.
Took two of her classes and learned A LOT. Actually felt challenged in a good way. I never considered a career in teaching but Dr. Leibham and her classes have made me rethink my career choice and inspired me to choose a career that involves working with children. Highly respect her.
Game changer class and professor. Because of Professor Leibham and this class I am motivated to learn again and I am excited to work with kids and families. And I now know that I am more than my grade point average. I am actually sad the class ended. I will miss the class and Professor Leibham.
Professor Leibham is by far the greatest professor I've ever had. The main thing she stresses throughout her class is that, as students, we shouldn't let our grade's and GPA determine our self worth. She also is extremely caring and genuine. Along with that, her lectures are amazing. You actually are able to learn something from them.
Dr. Leibham is outstanding. She is extremely clear and well-organized. She has great presentation skills even though she says that public speaking isn't easy for her. She expects students to work hard but her expectations are reasonable. Mostly, she is an incredibly kind person who has a HUGE heart for children and all of her college students.
Wow. Dr. Leibham totally changed my perspective on education. In my years as a college student, no class has come even slightly close to Dr. Leibham's Child Psychology class. She is an incredibly inspirational person and leads classes that consistently change students' lives for the better. Thank you, Dr. Leibham.
I learned a lot in this class it always had me thinking and wanting to ask questions. She was so caring and understanding it made the time enjoyable. The test are hard the only complaint is that she would talk about one unit in depth and then the other unit for the test would get skimmed over. Put points back on if a lot of ppl got it wrong
Dr. Leibham is a wonderful teacher and human being. She connected every topic to the real world and teaches with such passion that it's impossible not to see the value of the class. I liked her no-device policy because it was the only class I had where I wasn't distracted by people being off task with their laptops and phones. I learned so much.
Dr. Leibham is fine, but her class was dreadfully boring. She moves through content very slowly. She also has 3 papers that make up most of the grade. For these, she has no written grading criteria and expectations are unclear. There is no rubric, just one example paper. Once you understand the expectations, however, it's possible to do well.
Very supportive, kind, and knowledgeable professor. Interesting class and lectures are engaging. Taught in a way that made me want to learn. Probably among the top three teachers I have ever had.
I LOVED Dr. Leibham's class! Please take her if you get the chance! She genuinely cares so much about her students, and her class is both super informative while also not overwhelming. One of the best professors I've ever had.
Professor Leibham was a tough grader, but I learned more in her class than any other class I have taken. It has been months since I took her class and I still think about the information that I learned. She ignited my passion for teaching and working with teens. She won't regurgitate information from the book so you have to do the reading.
I have not had a more caring professor than Dr. Leibham. She cares about kids, teens, and her own college students and she cares about learning and trying to get students to see that school is about so much more than grades. She is a tough grader and I most likely won't get an A in her class, but I am actually learning a lot and having to think.
Leibham is a good person and her classes are very interesting. Although, she is a very hard grader and her quizzes are not easy. Her lectures can also feel very long due to how repetitive her teaching style is. However, if you put in a ton of time on the work that she assigns in this class, it is possible to do very well.
Probably the most caring and kind professor I've known. I had to work my butt off to get good grades in her classes, but I actually learned a lot. She was encouraging and supportive when I needed it. Just an overall good human being who is super smart and cares deeply about kids, teens, kids and teens with disabilities, and her college students.
Take this professor. Dr. Leibham is the best teacher I have ever had. I agree with others that she is probably one of the kindest people out there. On top of being such a kind person she is an amazing teacher. I would take the class again, if I could.
Dr. Leibham is a wonderful person and engaging professor. She grades hard and doesn't allow students to be on their phones or laptops during class, but if you can put in the work and want to learn, it's very possible to get a good grade. If you want to work with kids or teens, take her classes. One of the best classes I have ever taken.
Dr. Leibham is super passionate about what she teaches. I am not a psych or ed major but even I found this class interesting and useful. I think she should be a motivational speaker. I felt really inspired by her. She is unbelievably caring. There were many quizzes, three papers, and in-class assignments, but the workload was manageable.
Dr. Leibham is one of the best professors I've had! She cares about her students. She does an amazing job making her lectures engaging. This course has some really important information, and I highly recommend it!
Dr. Leibham is outstanding. School has never been something I enjoyed or found relevant until this class. She is a passionate and kind teacher who teaches in a way that makes me want to learn and work hard. This class and Dr. Leibham are changing a lot of my thoughts about about learning.
Dr. Leibham is compassionate and has no idea how much students need someone like her. I leave every class feeling having learned something and feeling uplifted. The workload is manageable but definitely not an easy A. She is organized and makes content interesting.
Dr. Leibham is one of the most optimistic and supportive professors I've known. Her excitement for children is contagious and she cares a lot about her students and makes extra efforts to connect with them. She is very smart and makes difficult content easier to understand by using examples and connecting what we are learning to real life settings.
Great class and very interesting. 3 papers and quizzes make up most of your grade but if you show up you can earn easy points for short in class writings. Lectures are mostly auditory as she doesn't have much on the slides. Got a B+ with minimal effort. Dr. Leibham is so caring and wants you to learn, succeed, and be happy.
Dr. Leibham was an amazing professor! She was always so passionate about every topic discussed in class. And she did a really good job at including real-world applications for various majors (education, psychology, SLP, etc.) She is also very approachable when it comes to questions or concerns regarding the class or otherwise.
Dr. Leibham is stellar. Most caring and kind teacher I have ever had, knowledgeable, manageable workload, hard grader but forcing me to rethink what learning is, and interesting lecturer. I look forward to class and will take more of her classes if possible. She is very relatable and makes students feel seen and heard.
Professor Leibham was a great professor! I personally usually don't like classes that are all lecture, however, she made it enjoyable. She is very engaging and doesn't bombard you with slides where you feel like you have to rush note-taking. Three papers and some quizzes that make up the majority of your grade, as well as some in-class writings.
Dr. Leibham is passionate about her teaching and provides good examples. She has lots of experience in her field. It's nice to have a professor who knows so much about learning. She likes to review information from past lectures to help students connect information. I learned many valuable things in her course and how to be a better student.
My favorite professor so far. Dr. Leibham is so knowledgeable and brings in so many interesting stories about her experiences working with children. The lectures are very engaging and she builds student questions into the content which I loved. She truly cares about her students. I loved this class!
Dr. Leibham is wonderful! She has a unique perspective on this topic and a lot of expertise. Her lectures were very engaging. I loved this course!
Take Ed Psych with Dr. Leibham! Aside from quizzes and a couple papers, there isn't much work and you learn so much. She makes sure that everybody is comfortable with the material and tries to keep everyone engaged during lectures. She'll show you how to avoid being a social loafer
Dr. Leibham is incredible! If you come to class and participate you will learn a lot in PSYC260. I would also recommend asking Dr. Leibham for feedback on your Executive Summaries before you submit them. She will give you great feedback.
Such an outstanding and kind professor who knows how to teach and inspire students. I needed this class in high school, when I thought the world ended if I got less than an A, and when I thought learning involved memorizing and spitting info out verbatim info. I learned more in this class than in nearly every other class I have ever taken.
Professor Leibham's PSYC260 class is engaging and informative. While the quizzes and papers can be challenging, her teaching style and real-world examples make the material accessible. Unstuck ai was a helpful study tool alongside the textbook.
Dr. Leibham makes students work for a grade by not allowing phones in class and setting up quizzes and papers so it's hard to do well if you aren't reading and attending class. She doesn't randomly call on students but can put pressure on students to participate. She is kind, caring, and so passionate and I have learned TONS in her classes.
Prof Leibham means well, but in class she tends to tangent about how bad cellphones and technology are instead of staying on task, especially on topics that do not concern technology use. However, if you do the readings and pay attention when she is on task, the class is not difficult.
Dr. Leibham is a caring and supportive teacher and her class is very organized. I didn't think I would like a psych class but this is my favorite class this semester. There is a lot of content and reading but she does a great job giving examples and making the info clear. There isn't a lot of content on her PowerPoints so you need to pay attention.
Professor Leibham has been my favorite professor during my four years at UWEC. Her classes weren't easy but she was clear, fair, and assigned a reasonable workload. At times I was intimidated by her because she is really smart, but she ended up being one of the most caring professors I have ever had. It's obvious she loves teaching.
Love this class and Professor Leibham. She makes me think, makes me want to learn more, and holds students accountable for their learning (you will probably hate this class if you want the easy way out of college). Super genuine and supportive professor.
Dr. Leibham is very caring but is almost too progressive for her own good. Her rhetoric about how grades don't define you makes it so that she won't work with you if you want to improve your grade. The executive summaries are graded hard and she tends to downgrade you if you don't agree with her views or air you out in front of the entire class.
I loved her as a professor! She was so amazing and understanding. She has a no technology policy but for good reason! She has that policy to limit distractions and it fits into her rhetoric about learning/teaching. I felt as thought her grading was very fair and accurate to her expectations described in the syllabus.
Leibham is a gem. Class time passes quickly because she makes content interesting and does an amazing job making the content relevant for her students. She has a way of making me feel very capable and she gives me the feedback and help I need to do well in her class. She gets me excited to work with kids as an SLP.
The best. Attendance not graded but don't skip (random in-class responses graded if you're there-- weekly online quizzes not difficult but rely on lecture materials not found in textbook). Midterm/final in-person but based and pulled directly from the quizzes. Only other grades comes from two papers but are fairly easy just slightly time consuming.
Child Psych was great. I really loved the Mary Beth. The exams were easy as long as you go to class, listen, and take notes. The questions are word for word from the online quizzes that you have access to. The three papers were fine, just time consuming. Lectures were very engaging besides from classmates who wouldn't stop piping in.
Best class I have ever had and amazing professor. Professor Leibham brings a lot of energy and passion into the class and it's obvious that she cares about her students understanding the content and knowing the reasons behind every lesson and assignment. The class is not an easy walk in the park but it's worth the time you put into it.
This course changed the rest of how my college career went.
This is one of my favorite classes I have ever taken. Dr. Leibham is amazing and cares about all of her students. She is easy to follow and is thorough and engaging throughout her lectures. Although it is Ed. Psych- she makes a point to connect class content to other professions.
Expectations on assignments are not very clear (no rubric). Spends a lot of time making sure you understand the material and teaches through both videos and oral lecture. Very passionate. Hard to catch up if you miss class.
